Touching the candle flame makes black soot, which is a good separator for the aluminum lead pouring mold. We don't want a separator between the paint and the lead. Be careful, or use a cleaner flame like an alcohol burner. (Yes, heat guns are cleaner) Tapping the sprue mark or casting seam with something like a flat screwdriver it tiny mallet usually flattens it without filing.
I am just getting into jig making for saltwater. I make jigs from 1oz all the way to 3oz. What lead would you recommend, I think I'm looking for a "Hard lead"? Thanks!
