A Fisherman and a Fisher of men. Amen.
Amen, and thanks so much for watching! God bless!
GOD bless you. We are all called to be a witness.
Yes we are! Thank you and God bless you as well!
I love this video. This is the first video that I have seen from you. I found it on google, I'm an older guy and only been fishing for a couple of years. I live near a great trout, steelhead, and salmon river/stream in western Michigan and I've just started. making my own jigs because I'm tire of paying for new ones when they break off! Putting eyes on tube jigs has been a struggle. I thank you for showing me the answer. Also, I love how you tied this tutorial into a gospel message. It was so honest and heartfelt. Thank you my brother. I am a missions pastor at our church and I rejoice when I see someone speaking well for our Lord.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your heart with me. I'm really glad that you found the video a help as well and your encouragement means a great deal! The only thing you have to watch for with making your own lures is that it can be so much fun that it can get out of hand and you will have to buy more boxes to store them. LOL. I pray that God continues to use this channel for his glory and that others might find his grace through the simple message that I share. Please pray for that if God brings it to mind. Thanks again so much for sharing and for watching and may God bless you richly my brother!
@@thefrugalsportsman - where are you based? I do a fair amount of travel and would love to meet up sometime, do some fishing and talk about our Father!
Joe I live in Northeast Pennsylvania in the Pocono Mountains. If you are ever out this way reach out to me in the comments and maybe we can get together! Richest blessings my brother!@@jsindorf

how long and what temp do you bake your jig heads
I bake the jig heads for 20 minutes at 350 degrees and that works fine for me. Hope that helps! Take care and God bless!
gracias por la palabra DE DIOS
Eres tan bienvenido. gracias por mirar y que Dios los bendiga!
Great video sir! Can you please provide a link to both fuel lines you use. Thank you!
Thanks so much! Here is an Amazon link that has both the larger and smaller size hoses in a combo set: www.amazon.com/Arnold-Handheld-Fuel-Line-Variety/dp/B002XZI7AU/ref=sr_1_8?crid=IMDUUIP9ODQ3&keywords=1%2F16+gas+line&qid=1646618705&sprefix=1%2F16+gas+line%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-8 I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you!
Do you have to file the jigheads first before painting them? Thanks.
Not at all. I just file any little nibs off because I think it makes for a nicer finished product. The fish won't mind one bit either way. Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you!
Have to see if I can find this stuff
Hi Chuck. Here is a link to company that makes the paint I used www.csipaint.com/products/liquid-coatings/vinyl-paint-lure-jig-finish.php. If you go to the bottom of the web page it has a list of dealers like Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops that carry it. Hope that helps! Thanks for watch and may God bless you and your day!
Thanks a bunch for this video! I was intrigued. I make my own jigs (in all sizes) and have fished them for all species in my vicinity. Believe it or not, I even caught catfish with them! I have never however, painted eyes on them. Is it your experience that your catch ratio has increased with painted eyes? PS - Thanks for sharing the gospel - Faith alone in Christ alone! Regards, P
You are totally welcome and I hope the video was a help to you! I think jig heads whether I fish them in fresh or saltwater are one of the most effective ways to catch fish. As you said they catch all types of fish and my biggest catfish was out of the Manitoba River in Canada and was 33" on a 3/8 oz. jig, so I know as you do that they catch catfish as well. I've never really taken the time to determine if there is a better catch ratio with eyes as compared to without them, but I have two thoughts. One is that I think the eyes make for a more realistic presentation and could be that small, but added feature that might trigger a fish to strike. Two is that I tend to fish jig heads (and bucktails) with eyes because I have more confidence in them and so I fish them more which produces more fish. It kind of works backwards, but it works! I think color is probably more important than the eye, but I think the right color (try pink the next time you go out) with eyes can be a powerful combination. Just my two thoughts and I hope it was helpful to you! Thanks so much for your encouragement as well. I pray that God continues to use the messages in my videos to touch the hearts of those seeking him. Thanks so much for watching and sharing and may God bless you richly!
Hi.
What do you used to thin down the paints? Thanks.
If you are using the vinyl paint then you have to use a special vinyl paint thinner. here is a link for you: www.basspro.com/shop/en/component-systems-vinyl-lure-and-jig-paint-thinner?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Shop%7CBPS%7CTopPerformers%7CFishing&gclid=Cj0KCQjwma6TBhDIARIsAOKuANykzELwngCNut2SAaiuWczl7Ro2p35oBM9Rbdy9z_I2fZYuBQtiPCoaAiovEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and God bless!
Do you have to use the paint thinner?
Quick question: do you bake them again when you paint the eyes? Just a random question still learning how to make jig
That's a good question to ask. I only bake the jigs with the powder coated paint as it seems to make the paint tougher and less resistant to chipping. The vinyl paint has a different consistency and heat might destroy the the eyes so there is no need to heat up the jigs again. I hope that explanation helps and thanks for bringing that up to help clarify for others. Thanks too for watching and may God bless you!
@@thefrugalsportsman Thanks man, for telling me I hope I will learn from my mistakes and hope it will help me. What I did wrong was I powder coat the jig and then put the eye white color on and the black eye and then put it in the oven which made it smear.
You are so welcome. Don't worry that you made a mistake or two that's how we all learn the best. Just keep at it and you will be doing great in no time. Glad I could be of help! Take care and God bless!
@@thefrugalsportsman Thanks you for the advice.
Where did you get the weed eater fuel line hose?
I believe I bought it at Tractor Supply Company. You should be able to find a weed wacker fuel line kit at most box stores or a place like ace hardware. It comes with several different size hoses and I think a fuel filter. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you!
If you want eyes to show past no light glow your white! The black dot will always be black even if no light is available, just the glow!
That's a great tip! Thanks for taking the time to share it! Thanks too for watching and may God bless you!
do crappie care if your jig has eyes?
I've caught lots of fish with jigs without eyes, but with that being said I prefer the eyes on my jigs. I think the extra detail adds more realism and fish normally strike the head of a baitfish and I feel the eyes on there can sometimes make the difference. Thanks for watching and God bless!
Vinyl paint for the eyes. Don't buy jig paint, it's just tiny containers marked up. Just like glitter for bait making, it's just PET glitter nothing fishing about it lol
The vinyl paint I use was given to me so it cost me nothing. I do like the consistency of it through as it loads onto the tubes and allows me to do several eyes before reloading again, plus it dries really fast. If you found a brand name of paint that is cheaper, but with similar properties I'd love to hear about it. I'm all for saving money! Thanks for watching and God bless!
