Hi, everyone! To everyone that's following this tutorial in Blender 4.1, here some things: 1 - Shade Auto Smooth doesn't exist anymore, so you have to go to Modifiers (wrench icon) > Normals > Smooth by Angle and then you Shade Smooth 2 - About the Shrink wrap, if nothing happens, try selecting Negative instead of Positive If I see more diferences throughout the tutorial, I'll edit the comment!
This is why I always watch anything even a beginners tutorial even after almost 15 years of 3D modeling and 6 with blender, I learned about the "y" shortcut to "yank" faces, I was always doing edge loops and "v", you can always learn something everyday
The way you explain each step with a beginner friendly way is amazing. Love the way you take time to take us step by step through the process. Thank you
This really makes this tutorial stand out because I repeated everything at least 5 times. i have the video open on one half of the screen and Blender on the other and learned all the hotkeys and what they mean in a short time. Amazing, thank you guys for keeping this actually beginner friendly.
The method of explanation and audio performance, as well as the huge amount of information I got in this video, made me can't believe that I watched this lesson for half an hour in one breath without even blinking. You are really great and the best teacher You are a lovely best teatcher
I like the way Louis explains. He's not rushing and explains every move extensively so that everyone will be able to follow. I wish all other instructors were the same.
Thank you!!! You need to make more of this hard-surface modeling videos. This made me much more better at modeling. I will come back after one year and tell my progres.
Thank you! This is the best blender tutorial I have ever seen for users that for example come from another 3d software or are already using blender and working with it, but have not made most out of it´s fantastic user interface design! Perfect pace, not a second of lost time in this fast track world! :) And such a nice aesthetic! Haha, just read all the similar comments underneath! Well, that speaks for itself!
This is my first time delving into hard surface modeling and this is amazing! You've taught me so many fundamental concepts I didn't even know existed!
Damn! I learned more in 30:42 minutes than I did in 3 days trying to figure it out on my own... The most useful part (at least for my project) was managing subdivision limits correctly, as well as using the booltool plugin. TYSM!!!
Wow!! Relative beginner, here, and you jumped me at least an order of magnitude towards intermediate!!!! Thank you, I learned a lot of new tricks! You are a master at narrative teaching! Very clear and accessible!
First tutorial I've managed to follow along. Wonderful pacing and progression, quite easy to remember even after just one sitting. Just what I was looking for. I'm hooked!
Great tutorial! Followed your instructions and everything worked as expected. I was able to branch out and make the legs a little more interesting using the concepts shown in the video. Best tutorial for modeling a complete object I have come across so far.
So satisfying to watch. I’ve been using a blender for a while but I love to watch good quality tutorials in case I pick up any gems and this certainly does not disappoint. Fantastic tutorial. Thank you for sharing. ❤
the ctrl-2 shortcut had me baffled. I had no idea it existed. I've used blender for 9 years, with addons designed to speed up hard-surface modeling. Just goes to show that periodic refreshers can uncover some small, but useful timesavers that I've missed.
Thanks for this fun educational dose I am a complete beginner and I was able to apply this lesson without any problem You are the best teacher for Blender
quick shortcut for the quad sphere, if you ad in a cube and press CTRL+ (number) you will get a subdivided cube divided to the number you pressed. you can then apply the modifier, i think its a little less confusing then the way he showed
Great tutorial - The good thing, is that it focuses on one subject for begginers - The doughnut tutorial by Blender Guru is good, but it tries to incorporate multiple areas (Modelling, Shading, Geometery and other) into one video, which is an overload. One thing about your tutorial that I dont understand, at 22:57 - Even with a linked object duplication, the Booltool modifier doesnt transfer across to the duplicated object - Even tried SHIFT+L to transfer object data - No go
I absolutely love Blender... my last contract was with Warner Media... it wasn't a choice... I got a Maxon 1 floating license... thank God I have been using C4D since R6... the only monetization of blender is being an instructor... there are a lot of you... I TRULY HOPE that Blender will be in the pipeline of major studios... like soon
Well my friend, it's for the sake of explaining The tutorial was amazing for beginners thanks to him for that You can try any shape you like Peace and love
1:43 Operator Presets apparently no longer work in Blender 4.2.0, there's just a note saying *Missing Paths*. My old computer died, and I was hoping to restart this tutorial on the new one, but this kind of brings things to a crashing halt. (I can probably find my old half-finished file, but not sure how things will go for new users.) From what I found, I think they are working on a fix.
holy shit, i've been using Blender since 2.78 and literally never tried that Add Primitive tool you use at 17:50. i had no idea you could add objects 3ds max style without add-ons.
Thank you for making such a comprehensive tutorial for hard-surface modeling. I look forward to actually working through it and then moving on to the more advanced course.
Your tutorials are better than any paid ones. I admire your understanding of the polygon topology and the great idea of controlling with it. I will follow you as a true blender modeling teacher of mine.
Me too! I just watched two tutorials before looking at this one. The first was too fast, and the guy had a very thick accent making it hard to understand. The second one was a little slower but still not as clear as this CG Boost video. This is very well done!
Im pretty sure he knows this but for the people in the comments, there are a lot of shortcuts that you can use for view and a lot of other stuff he did in this video For example the view If you press 1 in your numbpad you get the frontview Press 3 and you get a sideview Press 7 and you get a top view Press 9 and you get the inverse of whatever view you have So 1 + 9 would be backview 3 + 9 would be the other side view And 7 + 9 would be bottom view
Great tutorial! I would only suggest to explain WHAT you do and WHY (imho, it helps to better understand the procedure) instead of listing shortcuts and telling HOW you perform an operation. Btw, thanks!

What's the difference between the Y hotkey and the P selection?
Nothing shows up when I type 'extra' in ad-ons, I dont see it in any of the downloadable files either, can someone tell me how/where to find them?
Could you make an updated version of this tutorial?

I don't have the "round cube" that he adds in my menu idk why
@@practic4l349 1:03 he teaches how to get the round cube
@@sariajoy247 ah, thanks. I'm probably tired, that was an oversight.

Louis is among the very best of instructors, in each and every aspect. His course on CG Boost deserves highest ratings.
This is one of the most comprehensive and simple tutorial about using the blender modeling tools I have seen I love it

Keep up the good work.
no more donuts needed. Only coffee instead!

Nah this is not a good beginners tutorial at all. It’s a good tutorial on how to do that cup.
This did not cover every features in blender but the donut do 70% of it

This tutorial is so good, cant wait to try and make a lil robot when i get home from work, thanks for this!!!
the shrink-wrap tip is so awesome!
I think use it in a variety of ways, when want to connect only a part of it. It's a really good tip.

I had been wondering about the 'Slice' option in booleans for years...

I first heard of Louis Du Mont when I got the Robotic Planet course. I’m a big fan now.
As a dude who is learning blender just 2nd day, I've managed to do exact as in your example! So yea, good job :D
The best part is how good it looks with Eevee as a render
Thank you for this tutorial, it’s help me with a better understanding of the shrink wrap modifier and a few other minor things 🙏
This has been great! You have showed us so many tools and ways to use them! Thank you so much for making this video. Gained another sub :)

What kind of cup has a round bottom, those legs were made with spite
It’s got legs so doesn’t need a flat base. Round butt looks cool too. ❤😂

Some cups do have a nearly round bottom except for a couple inches flat on the bottom

Very well explained!
I'm stuck at 9:20. You didn't say the keys to do. How did you do this please ?
You should have enabled the display of keyboard shortcuts.
This is so good ❤
Thank you VERY MUCH!
Nice video
Thanks great tutorial! Cheers.
Very nice. Very very nice.
Amazing video. 😮😮😮😮
Nice. I never thought to use shrinkwrap on just selected faces to merge parts like that.
nice tutorial
thank you very much , it has so much usefull elements in it !
Nice work
Im pretty sure he knows this but for the people in the comments, there are a lot of shortcuts that you can use for view and a lot of other stuff he did in this video
For example the view
If you press 1 in your numbpad you get the frontview
Press 3 and you get a sideview
Press 7 and you get a top view
Press 9 and you get the inverse of whatever view you have
So 1 + 9 would be backview
3 + 9 would be the other side view
And 7 + 9 would be bottom view
Thanks for the tips!

I looove this.
Please help why there is no Ambient Occlusion in my Render Properties? and also bloom
In the newer versions of Blender, Ambient occlusion and bloom have been moved to compositing under the Glare node. Hope that helped )).
lots of useful hot keys I didn't even know about! but one question, why shrink wrap? versus just shoving it through the model?
Thank you
Fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much for providing it!
