Money Well Spent - The Perfect Dirt Bike

  • After several months of hard work in the shop building up two Honda CRF250F's, the time has come to see if all of the time, money, and effort was worth it.
From all of the Anker protection parts, to the lift kit and bling from Corona Racing, HyperLite Moto was a big sponsor for these builds.
And with the suspension upgrades from Bruce's Suspension, these cheap entry level dirt bikes have been transformed into Hard Enduro capable machines.
What better place to put these bikes to the test than the unforgiving Arizona desert. From loose two track to rocky single track, this was no easy first ride.
I'm happy to say, it was worth it.
    Special thanks to:

Finally someone really building two of these bikes for different size riders… This is great!!! I have a 22 CRF250F Stock, a 125F, and a 125F Big Wheel. I think 🤔 l’ll get a second 250F now and set it up for my wife after I learn exactly what you have done for your girlfriends bike…

Thanks for sharing all of this, I have owned 4 different Honda's and I really like the Honda's for all the reason that you do. My first bike I owned in my twenties was a Honda 175 SL. I road that bike from Missoula MT to Bozeman MT on I90 and I swear my whole body vibrated for two days after that LOL. I stopped riding after I got marred and did not own another bike until after my wife died. I have since owned a CRF230L then a NC700 X and a Suzuki DRZ 400 S and now I am riding a CRF300L Rally witch I love. I am currently upgrading the suspension, You two riding all over is making me jealous it is still cold and snowing here in Chelan WA.

Great video! Is always great to see riders like y’all, that have tried the best enduros out there, but after what’s been said on the video, y’all can appreciate a trail bike like those CRF250F’s that basically take what the 230 has been doing since the early 2000’s and takes it into the future, as a very solid option for both new riders and experienced riders that wanna spend more time riding and not having to worry about tight maintenance schedules, having that Honda reliability to back you up, is just something else, and just have to thank y’all, for helping getting these facts out there to all riders, that these bikes like the 250F, 230s and even some Chinese bikes with similar air cooled engines and specs, do really fill a gap much needed to be filled in this world of 2 wheels on dirt…I think y’all are ready for a South American riding trip, most specifically to San Bartolo Beach in Peru’s coastal desert, and then share what the experience was hehe. Vibes all the way from Lima. 🙌🏻

The thing both of these bikes need if you are riding in areas like that is steering stabilizers. It will keep you from falling so often & stop a lot of arm pump. Please see if you can add it & I am sure you will like your rides even better. Love what you’ve done so far on your bike builds.

    • @eriknash8783
      @eriknash8783 6 месяцев назад +1

Not sure I agree. I've ever only ever run stabilizers on my high speed road race track bikes. Maybe for going 60+ in the open desert sand, but all of her falls/tip overs were low speed and more about needing to carry for momentum than anything else. See so many guys running $700-$100 steering stabilizer setups and have no need for them. But, if you have the bread and it gives you confidence, then there is certainly no downside to them... I just add a little steering head bearing preload for front end stability on my FE501S and that includes 70 mph dirt and sand runs.

I talked to Bruce today to order my front suspension upgrades and he advised me of this new video. I can’t wait to get the springs and new damper rods installed.
I noticed Alexis is coasting down the hills with the clutch pulled in. Have her try leaving the clutch out on downhills to take advantage of the great compression breaking on these bikes. You don’t have to worry about killing the engine because of the heavy flywheel. I’m pretty sure that will work better for her.
Keep on keeping on. Look forward to the next video.

These CRF250F's seem amazing now! And man, they are so reliable and cheap to maintain! Looks like you guys are having a blast for sure. Alexis has gotten much better over the years of me just watching her on these videos, I feel like she just needs to work on her line selection more and keep up momentum. When you're tall like Tanner it's quite a bit more easier to put a foot down. I'm on the smaller size my self, was a challenge at time with my Beta... so I know what it's like. Glad you two are having fun!

Can't wait until I get my suspension done, just watching I can see the improvement! Unfortunately we don't have hyperlite moto here in Australia and the shipping cost is more than the cost of the parts themselves so Unfortunately he'd be missing out on a lot of business here in Australia, obviously being in Australia Bruce's suspension isn't an option, but there's a place about 2000klm (1242miles) away in Queensland called MPE that specialises in suspension and they do the same as what Bruce's suspension does for the crf250f so will be going for a drive soon to get it done cost for it is $620aud so not bad considering the improvement, anyway stay safe and I look forward to seeing more of your episodes!

All CRF 250F owners keep an eye on the rear wheel bearings!
I just installed new rear wheel bearings in a friend’s 2022 CRF 250F that had only been ridden for about 6 months.
Stock Honda dirt bike wheel bearings are sealed on only one side and are susceptible to failure if the bike has been run through mud/water above the hubs.
If your wheel bearings fail, replace them with aftermarket bearings which as far as I know are all sealed on both sides.

Seeing a couple have fun like you two have is an inspiration, and I hope every day of your lives is like this. You praised the KTM when you had it, understandable, it was a great bike, and now you praise this bike, also understandable. I could presume the reason you have this bike and not the KTM is because you like it better, but you have changed bikes for various reasons, so I can't be sure. So I would love to hear your non sugar coated comparison of the KTM you had compared to this one with the upgraded suspension. I got the impression based on your videos, but I'm not sure, that while the KTM had a lot of power and good suspension, it had a lot of vibration, especially on the road, and it was a maintenance headache. So why did you sell the KTMs for these?

Take into account money you spent on parts, and then your own labor costs (let’s just say $40/hr), is it still worth it to get the 250f , or does it make sense to just bump up to the 250r? How would you compare these bikes to the CRF300L? I checked prices online and the CRF300L costs $500 more, but it comes street legal so the cost difference is even less. It’s cool to see what you are doing with a more value oriented bike! Keep having fun guys!

I would go 300l he convinced me not to get the 450rl then I rode one and it’s the beat bike I’ve ever had so it’s up to you

I recommend the 300L if you want a true dual sport. If it's just trail riding get an Enduro bike.
The 300L will need suspension just like these bikes will, and you can wake it up and run 85mph on one with $128 in OEM Honda parts.
Just get some CBR300R cams and CBR300 Velocity stack and it gives you a huge bump in power.

@@millamazing9176 I agree, the 450 is leaps and bounds better than the 250 and 300.

@@marcochavane3124 well now! I agree with you on the 300L and enduro if only for the woods. Also interested in waking my 300L up. Thanks for the info.

@@marcochavane3124 I have a 300l also and really like it, but I’ve followed a trillion of these intake/cam/550/etc mod threads and huge power bump from the mods mentioned seems unlikely
