Installing a LIFT KIT on a Dirt Bike?.. | Honda CRF250F Build

  • After installing all of the plastic bash protection parts from HyperLite, it's time to really bring this bike to life and better suit it for my build. I never thought I would be saying this but in today's video we install a full blown lift kit on a dirt bike..
    All parts from hyperlitemoto.com/collections...
From the fork spacers and adjustable triple clamp, to the 2-way shock clevis and 3-way adjustable linkage, you would think the 250F is a mini bike.. Well it kind of is and these parts address the 250F's biggest downfall, the ground clearance.
Watch along as we add almost 3 inches of lift to this Honda trail bike and turn it into a rock bashing, single track loving, Enduro machine.

I beat the piss out of this 250f and raced it at a 24 and used it for drilling in my buddy’s back yard turn track we built thing is so much perfect noise level great power for how heavy it is. I had the lift and race tech suspension done to hit jumps and boy did I send it! Yoshi pipe and let’s see race tech custom shock was trash blew up on me 3 times after that the stock one did just fine with the extender. Sweet bike

Game changer of an upgrade for sure! The best part is that you can pickup one of these bikes new for cheap, learn on it and get the hang of pushing it's limits and then add this kit and you'd have a new bike that is more capable for sure. Can't wait to hear how you like it on the trail, hope it still feels right and has that compliant ride as well. Getting close to 100k subs, yeah baby!

Looks fantastic! Scott really has the parts for these bikes. I have these parts, just haven't had the time to install them yet. Now, just send those forks out to Bruce Triplett, and REALLY be blown away!! Heads up, if your thinking about the Hagon shock from Bruce, the clevis will not fit on the Hagon (eliminating the lift in the rear). But there is a solution!!! Olimotos sells a shock with 1.4" lift, and more travel. I'm assuming you used the linkage on the "stock" position? If it was used on the "raise" position, that would give the rear a total of 2.4" of lift (1.4" for the clevis, and 1" for the link), correct?

I had Bruce do my suspension last year. But thought I couldn’t lift it. Cuz the lift was in a kit, not broke out like you showed. I’ve never ordered parts faster in my life!!! Easy install and it kept my sag the same🤘
Thanks for all the 250f info, really helpful on turning this bike into one I’m not getting rid of now.
I’m curious though, one of the bikes I was looking at upgrading to was the xtrainer. I was curious about Alexis’ opinion vs the 250f. I’m also a short rider, seeking out more technical single track??

I have a 01 cr250r... but want something more trail friendly but still super fun, low maintenance... so I can teach my son how to ride. He's almost 4. I don't want to be constantly clutching the 2 stroke to putt around.

  • @micwell2247

Personal experience know the need for no less then 13" of clearance is an absolute must. 14" is a bonus.
Being this bike is pretty much bullet proof the mods are more icing. The BIGest reason this bike is a hit for me, NO radiator. Lots of times I free lance thru the woods and there is nothing but scrub oak and pine that send you to the books looking for a replacement rad.
You'll have this bike a long time with proper maintenance (oil and filter changes). A quality synthetic oil will prove the point.

Hey, my mate has just imported one of these into UK and the first thing I noticed was the height issue. I used to do MX so I was put off the bike, telling my mate it looks like its been lowered slightly, not realing this is the satandard ride height outa the box. So, if you raise the rear ride height with that kit the problem you have is there is no room to also raise the front so that it keeps its natural geometry. Still, a nice bike for beginners cos my mate has never done off road or ridden off road bikes. Im sure it could also benefit from a larger rear sprocket to make it a little more lively. What's your take on that!

Question - I've watched over 25 of your videos, looking at getting a bike in the next week, considered the 250F, just do trail riding, similar to what you guys do. No jumps, no supercross stuff - I'm 6ft 210lbs athletic build - I hear that people are quick to out grow the 250F after a month of riding, so why not go with the crf250rx? Seems to have more legs in it to grow and capabilities, Can you do a video on why the 250F is a better fit over the CRF250RX? Suspension seems better and more power, feel the same and yet more capable than the 250F. Price is not really an issue for me right now. Yes, you can upgrade the 250F suspension, brakes, etc but why put lipstick on a pig? Thanks. - Your thoughts?

Cost is a big factor for many, but for those who know, the bigger factor is the maintenance schedule. The 250f is about as simple and reliable as it gets.

I found a dealer that will do $5400 OTD on this bike. Still debating the purchase. I live in Az...it'd be cool to meet up when you're out there. I also ride a 300 Rally. Plus a quad. I'm doing the Travel nurse thing and will be doing 7 on/7 off schedule so looking forward to my new schedule. I used to do the white the van but now its an F350 with a slide in camper. And a minivan when I want to impress the women. LOL

$5400 OTD is a great price. You should jump on it. Herr in San Diego, these bikes are going for 5k used. If you don't mind me asking, what dealership? Not Del Amo, right? Lol

@@usmc03 I spoke to soon. The salesman is a moron. I told them $5400 OTD and I would put half down. Somehow the salesman didn't understand that. Now they're telling me over 6K. LOL. They just lost a sale. I will be going there in 3 more hours to say no thanks. When I first went there the saleman didn't even know what the 250F was and its a really small dealer. Oh well. I have my new 300 Rally to ride. Maybe I shouldn't be spending money now anyway.

@Matthew Hoopes Yeah, dealers are being ridiculous right now. Just wait a few more months when the recession really gets rolling, they will come back to their senses. I paid $6k otd with the 3 year warranty, hopefully that will give you a ballpark for prices.

How much has this “cheap” CRF cost you so far?

    • @jackjohnson291
      @jackjohnson291 Год назад

Part of that “cheap” includes maintenance time and expense. If it weren’t for the extra down time/wrench time, I’d have a 250r in the garage instead. Of course, while these modifications aren’t necessary for most, it certainly should factor into the equation for anyone thinking about it.
