Is the noise reduction computational thingy also baked into the raw files or is it just applicable for jpegs?
It would be great if it could be synchronized with studio flash heads, I think technologically it should be very simple.

Does it beat the Sony ZV-1 when it comes to filming? I really like the image quality from the ZV-1, after post processing it is very difficult to distinguish from a much more expensive camera. BUT I long for the day when a phone can replace my ZV-1.

I have had the Xoeria I mark ii for three years. Its been a fantastic phone. This will be my next upgrade. Plenty of hardware and feature upgrades to warrant an upgrade.

@@thaticelandicguy I'm sure. I don't buy new gear of anything unless it's needed (I'm a cheap bastard). But this looks like an absolute beast of a phone, and a true step up from the mark Ii in every way.
I am also using mark 2 for the same period of time.
I am not finding any reason to upgrade as this device doesn't have any issues till date.
The performance is still top notch compared to the recent flagship.
The camera department has improved a lot though.

I have still the 5II, it works perfectly fine. Have it Allways with me on construction ground. Just a rugged back cover, no display protection. I will see how long it will work 🤷🏻♂️ somewhen i will get a new sony xperia 5 😁
I need the 3.5mm headphone jack and the micro SD expansion, so samsung and many others are no option.

yea that S-cinetone for mobile I really like, I've been using the Pro-I and the Mark 4 for a while now, really happy with them and the upgrades on this one were welcoming :)
I wish the Xperia would get so much more exposure than it gets. People are seriously sleeping on it or are sadly misinformed and missing out. It needs the support of the masses. I LOVE that sony is keeping the SD slot and headphone jack, plus the addition of double step shutter button is just game changing!
Honestly I have been interested in getting a Xperia 1 V phone for myself as it does have few good points that I like and good camera is a really huge plus as I was thinking into taking pictures as some small minor hobby. Your video has been quite amazing especially compared to everything I have watched, feels great, great voice, tone and way of speaking, interesting content that is really on point. dropped a like and subscribed as well. No joke.. I got an Xperia Z2 in like early 2015 and that camera was incredible. Did 4K 60fps before I even knew what that was.
The screen was incredible and so was the build. It and the z1 compact were great phones. I wish they did a release of that.. a Z2 with modern silicon would be amazing to get in 2023. It was their best designed phone by far.

Reading the comments, I would love to see comparisons using all the lens options straight from the camera both photography and video.
I've the iv and with a tripod plus trying a few different settings i thought the night photography looked really good.
Day images still look exceptional on the iv so I'd like to see how much the new computational a.i boosts the image quality.
Sony ditched the 3D tof sensor that helped with tracking and depth I'd like to see how they compare to the v
Also the quality of the burst mode between the 2
So many questions but id seriously upgrade if the computational photography boosts the other two lens options passed on from the iv
I use my phone for so many things including image presentations and video
The iv has been top notch in both so far !

Genuinely the first time a phone camera has impressed me, might consider getting one when my current phone dies but it'll still not replace an actual camera for me

Great phone, i totally recommend it to everyone not pro's only. Sony is improving basic/auto mode to make it better for consumers. Battery life is also strong department of the phone. On top, it supports all high quality Bluetooth codecs for top audio quality. And this look and feel of the phone, simply amazing. It is my first Sony phone and i think it will stay with me for longer having owed few Galaxy and iPhones.
I can buy this instead of the ZV-E1!! I was looking for something just like this! But does is make calls and connect to wifi well??

Its really good to see you with the new Xperia 1 V, I was wondering if you could bring us some comparison videos both in Photography and cinematography with the current flagships in the market. and how this beast stands in front of them. Secondly, I really do admire how you shoot and your shooting skills, If we the beginner photographer out in the world could get in touch with your raw photos that you take, also edit and practice and create a platform where we share our practice and work wouldn't that be great? This way we could actually share the skills and new dimensions of our practice and workflow!

It's looking very promising indeed :-) And it looks like you can set the ISO as low as 25 on the 24mm.. Schweet :-) How's the image quality compared to the IV? I find photos shot on the IV being a tad blurry, especially when using the 85-125mm. The same goes for the raws.

I had the Xperia 1 mark 2, the cinematic video mode wasn't good with anything other than a sunny day. Low light was shit unless you bump up the ISO but it becomes grainy. When you record around florescence light, the camera screen flickers with it. I bought the Xperia 1 II for video shooting, it didn't impress me. I've also picked up Sony's pattern too, they take a very long time to update or even listen to their customers, they run things their own way.

I would say Samsung and Iphone are now dead, In every aspect sony just pack it all in ...In terms of camera, chipset, build design, and uniqueness.

I know the most of the people would tell me to just go on using my Xperia 1 IV but hey, shiny new toy with many improvements as well as that so practical vertical video, topped with better low light performance... Will need to re-calculate the budget for the rest of the year.. Great images btw.

Lol. That's a hard no. Anything in low light or any kind of wildlife photography, smart phones are horrible for. The digital zoom on phones don't compare at all to the light gathering of a traditional mirrorless camera and lens.

I use an A6400 and a Xperia 5 IV. Obviously the Xperia does not compete in low light with the Alpha.
I take indoor concert photos, shutter speeds no slower than 1/80th.
Will the new 52meg Sensor make a significant difference in ISO and noise reduction?
I usually use an ISO set to 4000 with a 2.8 Sigma lens and 1/125 shutter speed lens with my Alpha.
Will the new 1V get close to this?

I need to know if this phone has the extremely annoying slow shutter speeds when indoors that the previous generations all have (when using auto). That's the only thing putting me off this phone
Had serious issues with the focus on the Xperia 5 ii. Battery life was average and screen was way too dim. Lack of software support

The tele is almost useless unfortunately. But otherwise the best camera in a smartphone if you know how to use it.

Unfortunately Sony exits the Iran market and the last phone I had was XZ PREMIUM which was the absolute beast in terms of performance and camera

On my instagram I have 800 photos all taken with Xperia and I haven't posted since when I lost my xz premium.
Hope someday soon I'll be able to get a Xperia phone again but as for now I stacked with Chinese brand since they are the only good offerings in Iran now.

Am disappointed. Would not buy. I owe the 1II and IV and Alphas. They did not upgrade the zoom lens sensor and still using the same small sensor from generation years ago. Competition has already increased the size of the zoom sensor. The zoom 85 to 125 sensor on the 1 IV is terrible especially in inadequate light. If you post process it, it looks acceptable. This 1 V is only good for the main 24 censor but you will be disappointed with the zoom that I use often to get portraits or zoom shots.
Well, I must confess that I am not very into in making photos or videos so yes punctually a photo (and vídeo ) of my travels or some lost ox in my life and little else.
I like so much the _Xperia 1_ but maybe the _Xperia 5_ (or even the _Xperia _*_10_*_ 😮)_ fits much more in my life.
Anyway, I like that _Xperia 1_ can be used as external display (and I've read that also as back up) of the _Alpha_ cameras and it's so useful.
I also like that the price of the _Xperia 1_ is a bit lower *but* it seems that they cheapened the device by cutting the internal memory and that seems to me a setback.
What about when you blow the image up?, any noise
Where do you edit your videos? How can we edit videos we take with Xperia 1 V or 1 IV directly in the Xperia phone without loosing quality? Every third party app I tried so far is causing quality loss on my Sony videos when I try to edit it in the Xperia 1 IV. They all work fine with Apple. Is there any solution for this issue?

I just preorder it, it's very difficult to reach a conclusion in terms or performance, it depends on so many factors, however, having peaking, histogram, gyro, zebras, shutter manual up to bulb mode, hi speed with autofocus 30 fps, i think it was an easy pick even if it's not beating everything in terms of image appeal at first glance. I never post unedited anyways 😅 i am confident i can extract some amazing photos with it, can't wait for it to arrive
