The Xperia 1V is about 1.7 years better in user experience compared to the Xperia PRO-I, which shouldn't come as a surprise. However, if someone who really likes photography compares the still images of the main camera, the Xperia PRO-I may be the winner as a professional photographer. Expanding the dynamic range is not necessarily the correct answer, and you can see that the grade of the optical system is higher for the Xperia PRO-I. Experienced photographers will prefer the Xperia PRO-I. However, the Xperia 1V, which was released 1.7 years later, has steadily evolved in video performance, application perfection, S-CINETONE, creative look, etc. Also, the Xperia 1V may be easier to use for non-professionals. Above all, as a smartphone, the difference in SoC is intense. The Xperia PRO-I uses the infamous Samsung SoC SD888, while the Xperia 1V uses the popular TSMC SoC SD8 Gen2, which makes a big difference in heat and performance. On the contrary, the Xperia PRO-I, which was able to take this many photos 1.7 years ago, is amazing. I want to give you my best compliments.

No I'd say xperia 1 v is better at camera too, it have more light gathering capabilities into the sensor and results better low light performance.

That's half right and half wrong. At least the lens performance of Xperia PRO-I uses a higher grade. This is evident even when looking at lens flares.

In general both are great phone
Both are the best Xperia phones right now
But in terms of the processor
    The xperia 1v is better
The 8 gen 2 makes the phone more stable and better in terms of battery also the 1 v It has a bigger battery and better speakers + wireless charging + brighter display and lighter weight
I think the pro i 2 will be stronger if Sony decides to continue pro series
    Now I use the Xperia 1 v

Thank you LL Tech for your very comprehensive review of the cameras on these two phones. I was determined to buy Sony Pro i for the last few months. The 1" Ziess main camera was the main selling point for me. But this particular phone was released 3/2021, which left me concerned about the internal electronics & technology, which rapidly changes in our day and age & occasionally for the better !!
I had not yet considered the Xperia 1 V (released 7/2023) until I saw your review. To make my long story shorter :) I believe you have convinced me (at least for my wants & needs), the Xperia 1 V is the best choice for me.
One last item: could you or your viewers recommend a Bluetooth wireless grip/gimble w/ a remote screen for the Sony 1 V? I live in the US so my options seem limitless here.
BTW, Timmy almost stole the show, haha. He looks very happy & very very healthy. Once again thank you for your review & keep up your great work. Subscribed !!

I had the Xperia pro 1 for two years and have had the one mark five for about a month now. There is no clear winner when it comes to camera quality. The fact is that the Xperia one Mark 5 copes much better with higher ISO values, which simply makes taking photos much easier in many situations. The optical zoom sounds nice, but the quality is significantly worse than the main sensor. However, the battery now lasts about twice as long as the Xperia pro 1. And the display becomes significantly brighter in the sun. The one 5. is also significantly lighter For me, however, the pro-i ran more smoothly than the one Mark five..... Both great devices but now I would buy the one Mark five.

Otherwise, I forgot about the habit of charging it overnight, and always put it on charge to top up from 40-50% to 80% every day. It would probably last me 2 days. I browse a lot of social media, google chrome, youtube, utility apps all the time. It's my computer basically. And yeah, I play with the camera a lot, which does drain battery maybe twice as much. But I feel like it is far better than a compact camera anyway.

The sensor can handle significantly higher ISO values and retains the dynamics much better and hardly produces any noise. However, I often like JPG better with the pro i. Overall, I would say the camera quality of the One Mark Five is slightly better. What is definitely much better is the battery life, which now lasts about twice as long!!!And the display also becomes significantly brighter. It is also much lighter and therefore sits even better in the hand. Now Focus Peking is also supported, which brings a clear advantage here and there. Schade ist dass die Variable Blende jetzt fehlt......Both are great devices but now I would buy the one Mark five or wait for the successor 😅

Really great review between these two camera first smartphones and something I've always wanted to do but don't have access to an Xperia 1 V. If someone doesn't care for the most current smartphone features but still want a great main camera, the Xperia PRO-I is still going to be good in 2024 and equal to or better than the I V in most situations. I use it 90% of the time. But if they want a brighter display, better stereo speakers, bigger battery and a better zoom camera (zoom camera on the PRO-I is best used for portraits), the I V is a better choice. A lot of the issues between the two can be improved in post editing, they have alot more room to work with compared to other flagship smartphones. Keep up the wonderful reviews and hopefully the Xperia PRO-I II will come out so you can do an excellent review on it!

(flacker). Betrifft die 24mm Main lense

Xperia 1 v has more aggressive hdr. It sometimes gives more details, but makes the picture more striped, removes too much light from the bright areas. What should look bright becomes very contrasting and even black. I don’t think this sensor is better; we don’t see it in comparison. Xperia 1 v tried to do better with light software (hdr, ai). But this camera is set up very unprofessionally, it has too much sharpness, a flatter picture, too much contrast in HDR mode, clearly worse optics, and sometimes color rendition. I think that the author of this comparison overestimated the new camera. Close-ups of Timmy the dog especially show how much better the Pro I camera is.

I love my pro-i, but decided to switch to 1v due to overheating issues while recording. Additionally 1v is more capable daily phone imho, like taking pictures fast and actually getting a usable image.

El único problema de sony es su modo automático, esta a años luz de apple o samsung, pero su modo pro es una bestialidad, y para los amantes de la fotografía y que tienen ya un equipo fotográfico de sony es fenomenal.
