  • Matzah Bread - Heirloom Recipe - 2 Ingredients - Last Supper - Easter - The Hillbilly Kitchen
Matzah bread is a very simple flat bread that can be made everyday but for both Christians and Jews it has a special spiritual significance. I am sharing this recipe at Easter for my Christian brothers and sisters in the hopes that it will be a special blessing to you and bring you closer to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
This recipe is not only an easy everyday recipe, it is a witnessing tool and spiritual aid that will deepen your faith. It is my hope that this video blesses every person who watches it.
Happy Easter!!! God Bless You All!!!
Remember to put God first! :)
    Luke 22:19-20
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
    Ingredients:
    ¾ cup All-Purpose Flour
    ¼ cup Water

fond memories of my childhood in the 80's when my Dad would make us fried Matzo. Absolutely delicious with ketchup (sorry we are from Texas). Our Jewish heritage is still alive when I make it and think about my ancestors that fled Russia to come here for Freedom. I must admit, I cheat and use the Manechewits mix these days:) God Bless America

I make the communion bread for our church,we just prefer to hand make it rather than buying the wafers like most do. I make it the exact same way your making it. While I am making it I will start crying thinking about Jesus and what he done for me.✝️📖🙌🙏 God bless you for sharing his word.

Andrea, you put what I was thinking into words that I totally agree with. Bless you and yours and I pray blessings on Becky who is being a strong soldier for Christ in spite of the hurting she must still feel on the loss of her beloved husband. Her vlog goes world wide and she is filling her life's work in spreading the knowledge of God, His Word, His Son and His Spirit. In this He is well pleased in the midst of a war weary world starving for agape love and losing the ability to find it and share it. What a great blessing to make this bread this year in memory of His suffering and death and in mind of those still here that He loves so much.

great post love this, I never thought of making this. Dont worry to much about the kosher laws around making this. I worked in a large print shop for years. Almost everything we consume here in the States is kosher. Small kosher stamps are on most products they are a K or U the Hebrew kosher word or letter sometimes seen with a small k in the word. also a k in a circle or a u in a circle mk for Michigan kosher. Its almost a safe bet the flour and salt used is kosher. What a great way to share the Story of Our Lord and eat the same type of Bread that He would have. God bless You for making this post. I hope and pray this small act of bread making and sharing this part of the Bible becomes a tradition for all of Us.

Thank you for this recipe. Just an observation, Christ became Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7). Hence Christians do not have a blood sacrifice because Christ shed his for everyone. He did not become Easter. Easter is not in the original manuscript. That word is a derivative for the celebration of Ishtar, the pagan goddess of fertility and war. As I understand the manuscript, the celebration, whether Jew or Christian, is Passover (pascha) and begins on the 14th day of the first month of the Jewish calendar (Nisan; Gregorian calendar is April; Ezekiel 45:21) and lasts 7 days. Hope this is helpful.

Fifty years ago my Grandma made this and we ate it almost every day. As you cooked it in that Skillet, it was like I was back in her kitchen again. I could hear the sounds of her turning it over and placing the bread in the plate. We would sit at the table and she would tear it and hand it to me. We would sit and quietly eat. That was a wonderful time I can remember. Thank you for reminding me of that time with my Grandma.

Sister Becky, God bless you for letting people know that the unleavened bread is not Kosher in the Orthodox Jewish sense. For us who are Christian and formerly Jewish I might add (I was also Administrative Assistant to two Rabbis and a student of a well known Cantor - a story for another day), this recipe is *perfect.* I would suggest it is a great recipe for whenever the Church celebrates the Lord's Supper (Communion).
For Matzah to be strictly Kosher in theOrthodox Jewish sense, it must be baked using water and flour only, and put in the oven within 18 minutes. A tiny bit of the flour is burned in memory of the burnt offering ( a tradition still held by the Orthodox, the "Taking of the Challah").
*Shmurah Matzah* is even more strictly regulated: the 18 minute rule applies; however, it is all carefully monitored and guarded from the growing of the wheat through every stage, and it is also expensive. While it is quite delicious, most people buy one of the other well known brands in quantity, to ensure that they have enough on hand for the entire festival. I did not know anyone who made their own Matzah for Passover, since the rules are so strict.
My personal view is: I doubt they had so many regulations at the time of the Exodus! However, by the time Jesus came, the *Talmud* was in place, and most of the Rabbinic laws as well: the strictures of the Rabbis are what Jesus spoke out against.
Your wonderful recipe undoubtedly is what the Children of Israel would have known at the time of the first Passover and Exodus from Egypt: No one would have been monitoring how long it took to knead and bake! They had a lot more on their minds.
You are a blessing, Sister Becky, and I believe a good name for this recipe would be *Biblical Bread!*

So good to see you use Passover and not Easter. Polikarp (Bishop ? of Smyrna plus/minusAD100) went to Rome to plea that Pesach, Nisan 14 not to be changed to Easter Sunday - pagan. But to no avail as Constantine in 321 with a decree changed the Sabbath on Saturday to Sunday and Pesach to Easter. Thereby having a Christian / pagan church as the official Roman church.

I made it probably 6 or 7 years ago, but I didnt give myself enought time...I know, I know, it should have gone quickly, but I complicated it, lol! I baked mine in the oven. Our family eats Biblically kosher, not rabbinically kosher (we eat according Lev and Deut, not added manmade laws). This is one of our favorite celebrations of the year!! But of course Jesus and the Father require that we follow Their rules (commandments). Jesus said, “There is no greater love than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends *IF* you do whatsoever I command you.” (John 15:14)
Clearly, we have free will and we can choose to follow His example, or not…to be His friends, or not. But if we do not follow, we should not believe we are His friends.
Many churches teach that “the Law was done away,” but Jesus clearly exhorts us to follow His Law (outlined and described in the OT)!
      Love is not a feeling.
      Love is action.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 15:14)
Keeping God’s commandments teaches us Who They are and how to become perfect like our Father and Brother.

Thanks for your reply Dandy Cat. We have to be careful not to trivialize sin because God is very serious about repentance. Here's my study on the subject; you may want to look at these scriptures.
Why do we need to repent?
1 John 3:4 Sin is the transgression of the law.
Romans 8:6-8 Carnal mind vs. spiritual mind.
James 4:1-2 Friendship with the world = enmity against God.
Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.
Romans 6:20-21 Servants of sin; the fruit of sin is death.
1 John 1:8-10 Deny sin => deceive ourselves. Confess => God forgives.
      Examples of repentance
Psalm 51:1-17 King David: Wash me thoroughly; create in me a clean heart.
Luke 18:13-14 The publican couldn’t even look up in his deep humility; he was forgiven.
Luke 15:11-32 The prodigal son sinned against heaven and his father, repented, and was forgiven.
      God's instruction to repent
Mark 1:14-15 The time is now! Repent and believe the Gospel!
Acts 2:38 Repent, be baptized, receive God’s Spirit.
Matthew 9:13 Jesus came to call sinners to repentance.
Romans 2:4 The goodness of God leads us to repentance.
2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow works repentance to salvation.
Isaiah 66:2 God will look to the poor and contrite spirit (humility).
Isaiah 55:7 Forsake wickedness, and God will abundantly pardon.
Acts 5:31-32 Jesus’ mission: Give repentance to Israel. (We are spiritual Israel.)
Romans 6:15-16 Is sin allowed under grace? No; God forbids it!
2 Corinthians 10:4-6 Bring all thoughts into captivity.
Matthew 3:8 Bring forth fruits meet for repentance.
Luke 13:3, 5 If you don’t repent, you will perish. (and repeated for emphasis)
Romans 12:2-3 Don’t conform to the world; be transformed; think soberly.
Luke 24:46-47 Preach Jesus' repentance and forgiveness.
Romans 7:13-25 Sin leads to death. The Law of God is spiritual.
2 Peter 3:9 God is patient and longs for ALL people to repent.
James 2:20, 26 Faith without works is dead. (and repeated for emphasis)
James 4:8-10 Draw near to God; humble yourselves and He shall lift you up.
Psalm 19:12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret sins.

      @@406annie Hi Annie.
I agree with you entirely. Sin is NOT a trivial matter, and we should always be mindful of our actions and of our hearts.
Jesus taught, however, that what ruins a man is not what goes into a man's mouth, but what comes OUT of it, for this is a reflection of his heart, and the heart is full of iniquity.
So, the point is that the recipe here isn't for authentic or kosher bread, that Jesus ate, but that isn't important, that we commemorate his sacrifice IS.
Of course, if it is important to YOU, that it should be authentic, then yes, because that is your choice, and I certainly, offer no criticism on that score.
      But what is more important...
      The bread...
      Or the Sacrifice.
Loving the debate, btw, it's so rare to find someone who has a proper point of view, and I hope I haven't offended you.
      Look forward to your reply

Thank you ,Becky. I have had unleavened bread and bitter herbs on my mind the last few weeks thinking about predicted food shortages and how simply Jesus lived on this earth. This video was perfect.

We also are having a Passover celebration next Friday and baptisms on Saturday. I'm sure I will use this recipe a lot in the coming days! Thank you. He is Risen!
