The shrine to grandpa on the farm I've wondered if perhaps was built by Evelyn & George. I can't imagine someone building their own shrine. George always has rocks to spare once you become his friend and Evelyn works on the community gardens, seems like a project they could have worked on together.

What evidence do we have to rule out polygamy?
Could Evelyn and Grandpa be related? Like - a sister or cousin? It might be why she's so happy to see the player and how she automatically assumes a familiar role. It would make sense why he's got her picture on the mantle.... maybe he disagreed with her marrying George and it caused a rift, which might also be why the player doesn't know of her.
Or maybe I'm just writing a fanfic in my head.... :s

my one question with the slime theory is that it was implied the wizard only found out about the junimos' existence after the player told him about it, so while i think they could be of linked origin i don't think the wizard was the cause
Love how you state at the beginning that this can just be listened to as podcast style. I love doing that with videos, but I always get anxious I'll miss something. Just a small touch that make your videos so amazing, keep it up!
Here's my favorite theory:
It starts out like the dead player theory but there is more to it. Everyone in Stardew Valley are people who also died, but they could not complete what they wanted to do or what they were "supposed to" do in life. So instead of being ghosts, they were placed in a small town made by Mr. Qi to help those people meet their expected life. In this case, the perfection meter is the Player's unaccomplished goal that they need to complete before they can rest peacefully. The people in the town also have these aspirations they need to complete. Pam needs to be a better mom, Penny needs to break out of her shell, Alex needs to let go of his past, Evelyn needs to be honest about grandpa to george, george needs to open up more, Emily and Sandy need to come out about their feelings for each other, Harvey needs to unlock his full potential, etc. The reason that Grandpa is a ghost and not in Stardew Valley is because he basically ran the town, like the Player has to do. Grandpa was basically the Mayor of pelican town. But this leads you to the question: how could Grandpa do this if Pelican town is literally a ghost town and a place where these lost people go even before he died? Pelican town fell once Grandpa died. A few years after, it was completely destroyed by one of the bombs accidentally sent to the town during the war, the player was on the bus, just arriving at the town right before it blew up. Mr. Qi recreated the town because he felt that these town members needed to finish what they were supposed to before they are sent away. That's why Kent comes the second year, he died a year after Pelican Town was destroyed. Kent's goal was to be closer to his family because his trauma and guilt has held him back. He sends the player bombs in the mail as an act of forfeit and guilt, he was in the war and the war indirectly caused their death. The way the game "Ends" is when the player finishes their aspirations and get perfect completion. The Player then is sent to be with their grandpa in the afterlife. Oh yeah, and Grandpa's evaluations? They are Grandpa trying to help the player get 100% completion faster so that they can be with their grandchild again.
I have a lot more detailed theories connected to this, but this was long enough so ask me for specific theories or add to mine! I really like fan theories, especially with this game!!

@@zapacunotres59 unrelated to this posts meaning but i think alex doesnt need to let of his past but move forward from his mothers passing. I hated him for a long time when i started playing this game but after losing my father I saw how it changed me and how I was becoming an asshole for a bit. So honestly Alex's character seems to need to move forward from the passing of his mother and get ahold of his ego, a little deep and depressing in a way but that's my current thoughts on Alex.
Idk where I heard it from but my favorite theory is that Linus is actually God and so every time i head to the mines and he’s in that little corner beside his tent facing the direction of the mines , it just makes me smile. i mean it’s just a theory but i like it
I doubt the picture on the mantle is Evelyn, she has been married to George for some time and since the picture bears a very vague similarity to her it would mean it would be pretty recently taken if so, I can't see Evelyn cheating on George, she dotes on that man. It's more likely the picture is not Evelyn but possibly M. Jasper.
There's only ever two kids to go to school, building a schoolhouse would be pointless, and the books might just be ones from the museum the kids use to learn with. Don't need more than one teacher to teach two kids.
The Wizard the skull caverns is referring to might be Mr Qi. He has much more influence over the desert and skull caverns than Rasmodius does.
Two more things to ponder is...
Is mayor Lewis getting paid to let some big company dump toxic waste in the sewers of Pelican town? In the sewers there's radioactive waste in the waters and in the mutant bug cave. How diid so much get there?
Where are the bathrooms? There is only the spa that has a shower area, and those cubicles look more like changing cubicles than toilets. so where do the villagers wash and poop? We know Linus uses the bush but he is the only one that poops or do the others go use his bush after 2am?
That's why you can't stay awake after 2 am! You would discover Stardew valley 's dirty secret!

My theory is that Grandpa was the last mayor before Lewis- thats why they were friends! He built the Comunity Center, or at least the cemetery (its too little for a village, even as small as Pelican Town), or the museum (I believe Pelican Town was at first a bunch of houses of the miners in the mine, cause the city itself is relatively close to Zuzu City and it even has a train station- not all tiny villages have one. I think the city spontaneously rose, chaotically, as a mining city; but the mine was closed, and the city was renovated, possibly by Grandpa after my theory, and now young families coming from the city live here- yk, like about an hour from the greatest city we know of, quiet and idyllic but also relatively close, its a great place for a semi-metropolitan area town). If Grandpa was the mayor 20 years ago or how much has passed since the last time somebody ran against Lewis, that explains the way the town has fallen into almost ruin even tho it looks very new, totally not a hundred years old because of that cemetery and the lack of churches.
Shortly, Pelican town is a comunity created by Grandpa.
100% agree and I think Lewis hated Grandpa, who was the selfless side to Lewis’ self-serving coin. Polar opposites. Lewis only pretends to the player that he loved Grandpa like everyone else did so that he can convince himself he’s a good person and good mayor.
3:30 its personal, but his whole section hits pretty close to home. It almost actually HITS home.

Watching this now I had a thought. I think it is a type of "limbo". Not heaven or hell but a form of an "afterlife". Ever seen The Good Place? It feels something like that. As if getting another chance to better or worsen yourself before being judged. But they don't know that's what happening. I think Mr Qi is the architect of the Stardew Valley world and he messes with things and creates all these quests to keep himself entertained whilst monitoring the progress of the relm.
It also explains why after watching the farmer succeed with the farm and live a good fulflled second life, Grandpa can then cross over into heaven with peace of mind.
It's a bit out there but it could really work as a theory.

My favorite fan theory that I read on reddit was the reason why Haley hates prismatic shards is that she had a kid with Alex but something didn't work out and she sacrificed her kid in the witches hut.
I love that, would make sense since they are both very young and alex especially had big dreams which raising a kid didn’t fit in with, so they had to “get rid of” the pregnancy/child
The junimo/slime theory makes sense. Due to all the other scetchy stuff with the wizard plus the fact that he EXPLICITLY STATES that the junimos won’t talk to him for “some reason” could be because he obviously doesn’t respect the forest and that, well, he turned their friends and family into the evil slimes that you find in the caves and skull caverns
I feel like mr qui has us in a simulation. Like everything is almost perfect and all the NPCs are good and nice 👍 . Grandpa was killed by mr qui because mr qui knew grandpa would keep the player from entering the simulation

Lewis selling out the town to Joja makes complete sense! He’s self-involved, only cares about his status, treats Marnie like trash, wastes town resources, and probably uses tax money for personal gain. If the town just fell into disarray for “reasons beyond his control”, he could act like selling to Joja would be the “only way” to “save” the town while he makes $$$.

Here's a theory that'd be on the extreme end of "dark" of my very own: Pelican Town, despite its "image" as a community unwilling to participate in modern times, is actually a sort of "slave camp" where either people have to work much more than ever at the Joja office to satisfy other people and even their own grandpa - of all people, or be considered a straight-up pariah and never loved again. This theory goes extremely dark because this also extends to reality: have you ever thought about what's going on in people's minds as they do their massively successful farms, especially on RUclips, or even, if anything is going on in their minds? If you answered yes and "internally screaming", you'd be correct.
The biggest irony to this is that this would make the Joja corporation the true heroes of the Stardew Valley story, and Pelican Town the true villains - by finishing the Community Center and driving out JojaMart, do you really think you actually got anything out of this? No. You never did. You were lied to. You were denying their one chance at redemption this whole time! Whereas Joja and Morris are merely jerks in the community, but could otherwise see the error of their ways and change, the ConcernedApe character in the game (at least), the one behind it all, is in fact a tyrannical slave overlord that will not only clearly never change, but forces his "fans" to work their farms day after day - or get exiled by their "friends". Mayor Lewis, by the way, is merely his right-hand man; he's not just a "mayor" with inept planning and incompetent management - if you know what I mean~.
I mean, not only does Reddit say it all, but Haley is practically the only spouse in the game actually intelligent enough to be aware of all this! Her "pettiness" and her being "childish" was not (at least just) merely for no reason; she sees a dangerous environment in Pelican Town that practically no other farmer like me would ever see, or even try to see!! This is also why I always (re)join Joja on a normal playthrough of Stardew Valley; I'm not even going to help out a town that won't even help themselves - or even avoid undoing all the progress I've made to it!
I love how the video is what people who dont play stardew valley think stardew is, and the audio is what stardew actually is.
For the bus crash theory,
No.
The bus you get into pelican town is not the same bus that needs repairing. The pelican town bus was already out of commission before you got there, and the pelican town bus is not even crashed, just broken down.
I wanted to make a Modpack where Grandpa is a mass murderer and Stardew Valley is Purgatory for all his Victims... You must right the wrongs of your cursed Grandfather to free all their spirits... then on year three Grandpa is angry, transforms and goes Godzilla on the entire map... Unless you 100% the game by then, in that case you banish Grandpa to the nether and live in peace.
Would explain why no one ages... I mean after three years the 10 year olds should be moodier versions of Haley and Sebastian.

Grandpa and Evelyn:
I wouldn't go so far as to say that Grandpa and Evelyn were married but based on the picture it seems like they were close. The fact that she immediately gives you permission to call her grandma might be because of this. Though one would think this would come up, especially if you go out of your way to befriend her and her husband.
Grandpa and Qi:
I doubt Grandpa was murdered. He died slowly enough that you got to say goodbye to him, which means we can rule out most forms of murder. It's possible that magic or slow-acting poisons were used, but in that case Grandpa would have found out after he died and his ghost would have mentioned it. Even if he doesn't ask you to avenge him, he'd still probably warn you to spare you from a similar fate.
Apart from that, if the point was to get you to the valley faster, this would be a weird plan. Step one, murder grandpa. Step two, wait for the farmer to grow sick of working at a Joja office? It's not very parsimonious.

My theory is about Alex I think his mind was washed away because during the scene of him crying. When his mom popped up holding him as a baby. If you look closer on Alex’s blanket the wicked statue in front of the cave. Maybe Evelyn and George wiped out Alex’s memory because something happened to his mom that they don’t want him to know.

The thing nobody talks about is how Penny is ableist and her behaviour si unaceptable and the disabled individual apolagising for being angry at her ableism is dumb.
These videos are interesting and fun but I think it's a bit hard to understand when you've moved on to a new topic/theory since you almost have no pause between one theory and the next. I don't think you need to add like "theory number 2" or anything like that, just a longer pause (a few seconds) so that it's obvious you have changed topic.
At 0:54 you start talking about the strange dolls less than a second after you finished talking about the witch and that confused me alot. I've noticed this in a few other of your videos too and idk it makes them harder to follow. If I'm alone in this than ignore this
In the theory I heard, it's not just the farmer that is dead, but everyone in Pelican Town is. It's a purgatory of sorts. The people who 'live' there died in the war with the Empire, most likely all at the same time. Like their town was bombed without warning and none of them made it out alive in time. They can't move on until they feel satisfied with their lot in life. The farmer is an exception to this in the sense that they did die, but not in the war. Instead, they died as a sort of dark twist of fate thing and are put in the town to help everyone there reach the satisfaction they need to move on. The townies can't help each other reach happiness, so it has to be a neutral unifying force from outside the the original town that does it. The farmer is this unifying force. Grandpa already successfully moved on and his check in starting on year 3 has him assess how far along you're coming. When you've done all you can for the town and everyone reaches the required amount of happiness and acceptance required, they are allowed to move on to whatever place Grandpa is in (a sort of version of heaven, I guess). The reason grandpa never actually does this is because the farmer did such an exceptionally good job fixing the town and helping its people, it's already become the kind of place they can be happy to 'live' and spend their afterlife. They don't need to move on to heaven, because they're already happy where they are. So, Pelican Town goes from a purgatory to a sort of afterlife haven for departed souls that were originally from the town.
Kent arrives later because he survived the destruction of the town, being away from it due to being in the army, where he meets his demise after a year of service, at which point he joins the community and falls into the farmer's care, like all the others.
But about the theory about how you die, the bus that is fixed, goes to the desert. Not from Zuzu city to Stardew valley to the desert! And Pam was NOT driving the bus the crashed. And even if you were in the bus that crashed Pam, the bus driver, in the front did not die, so there is a HUGE chance you wouldn’t die if you were even in the bus

I like the theory of Mr Qi being this evil puppet master. Stardew has so much potential for dark and twisted stories. Honestly what I really want to see is a serial killer mod. Yes its fucked up, but the idea of a new person moving into some remote, quiet town and suddenly people start turning up dead or missng, would be a really cool alternative story line. (I'm a big jojo part 4 fan if you couldn’t tell lmao)

Here’s a theory I made up: the potion the wizard gave player was his attempt to experiment on us. He wanted a person to test his power on. He passed off his experiment drink as something that will help up connect to the forest or something. The potion did sort of work. It made the player not age and be able to talk to the Junomos and assuming so the bear as well. Ca née all just agree that the wizard is not a good person-
Let me tell something well You guys know that Caroline has an affair with the wizard right ? So if the player chooses the joja way of game completion does she leave pierre for the wizard ?
She didn't have an affair with the Wizard...Abby was stated to have auburn hair naturally, matching Pierre's. If you use the logic that the Wizard's purple hair is natural, then Caroline's green hair is natural.
