Is it inefficient to chop down the stumps and clear out the grass early game? Yes. Am I going to do it anyway cause I can't stand not having a completely clear farm as soon as possible? Also yes.
Depends on your purpose. I always clear my farm. I need the stone and wood. First year I save up and buy the raw material. Year two every raw material has an increase in price. So to get the coop and barn and silo yes I clear it all. Free material. For energy everyday after rain I pick up the onions by the sewer drain. I also pick up all forgables. The best option is a multi-player. You can rest and regen while other is working.
I use lightning rods instead of fences since they don't wear down and you are guaranteed a bunch of batteries when there is a storm. Also, make sure to plant grass under fencing or lightning rods as it cannot be eaten by the animals but it will cause more grass to grow next to it.
I once had a bunch around my dinosaur coop like it was an electrified fence! Iron fence posts interspersed between is a fun way to add the gates without ruining the aesthetic too bad
@@juliasherwood697 yes they do produce more eggs! It takes a very long time to hatch and they don't produce new eggs nearly as often as chickens but it's kind of a fun challenge to have hatched 12 dinosaurs, enough to fill a fully upgraded coop

I have a tip about crab cakes, when you get willy’s 6 heart event, gus would sell an unlimited amount of crab cakes for the next 3 days for 550 each, it might sound like much but when you’re in mid-late mid game that would be dirt cheap for an entire day of +1 speed.
Additional tip for grass before winter: Even if you have a fully upgraded barn/coop, you can use a bomb to blow up the hay in the trough. The auto-hopper wont repopulate them until the next morning. So you can completely empty your silos as many times as needed to cut down all your grass. Then just reload your hay hopper so the silos are filled again and stow the remaining hay in a chest for later.
i always keep 1 or 2 of everything... or 100-1000. My need to collect everything because "you never know" won't let me sell things, even when i'm making something for profit, i need a good amount of buffer of it first. especially good quality stuff. which is why i have a million chests all colour coded for different types of things and there is nothing more frustrating, then needing 10 of something, and i only have 9 and can't get more till next year...

For early game, there are a lot of npcs who like salmonberries and blackberries which are really easy to have in bulk, and i tend to have them on me as my food supply regardless. Study up on which npcs like which berry and they’ll like you in no time!
adding to tip 14, if you grind out the monster hunt achievement for dust sprites in the mines (levels 40-79 I think) you get the burglar's ring which, when equipped DOUBLES all monster drops regardless of luck, but luck also increases drops! Keep ruby-producing crystalariums in the desert and trade for spicy eel from the desert trader for luck and speed (or just get from killing a few flying serpents, again much more likely to drop with the burglar ring)
One thing I recently found out is that your daily luck actually influences the slots in the casino! If you want to make friends with the entire village and hate thinking about presents just get a bunch of rabbits and collect rabbit's feet while also duplicating diamonds in the gem machine. Easy and fast way to befriend everyone.
7:25 might actually save my life with Stardew Valley. Outstanding insight. I'm finally trying out Stardew Valley and it feels intimidating to learn how everything works. You've done an amazing job explaining so many mechanics that have had me confused. Thank you, sir!!
Just learned this last week in year 10 of my game. I filled my greenhouse full of ancient fruit early on so I would just get infinite harvests worth good money. But fertilizer disappears with the changing of the season so the crops are more average than gold. BUT, I finally cut down my crops and started planting starfruit and learned this. As long as the crop carries over into the next month on a one-plant, one-harvest item, the fertilizer stays. I have been running 4 seasons now on the same fertilizer.
actually what you had was a glitch that was fixed in the recent 1.5 update where fertilizer would disappear at the end of the season in the greenhouse, and besides fertilizer on multiple harvest crops only affects the first harvest.
Tip 29 : When setting a chest next to an NPC, you have to be careful. If it is on the path they usually walk, they will DESTROY the chest. You have to make sure to put chest where no NPC's will walk if you want it to remain there.

lifehack that i dont see anyone mentioning EVER: if your coop or barn is at max upgrade you can destroy the hay on the feeding thing with bombs which will let you still take out hay
in case your silos are full and you want to get more hay from the grass on your farm. When you use a scythe on the grass on your farm, the hay automatically goes into silos, unless they are full and then the grass/hay just disappears, it doesn't go into your inventory). It's especially handy if you do have enough grass on your farm and want to gather more hay for the winter
the holding down right click while walking trick for planting seeds also works for harvesting! it picks things up in the row you’re in and the adjacent ones.
The thumbnail make me remember my first time playing this game. I chopped down every tree and didn't plant any of them back, so when I needed them, there weren't any grown tree left. I ended up have to wait a really long time for them to grow
You can also use a bomb to take the Hay out of already fed animals. Aka fully upgraded barns. It destroys the hay already out but then you can empty the hopper and go mow the lawn again. I usually do this in the last day of fall and fill up a cheest so I've got stacks of hay in a chest instead of trying to make more silos.
13:19 if you hold right-click anywhere on screen while holding whichever ingredient you want to put in the kegs and then walk past the kegs like usual, it automatically harvests and refills the kegs. much easier than manually hovering over every keg
There is another way to improve your speed besides Horses, Coffee, and food! Place paths where you walk the most! They give you another slight speed boost and they make walking around your farm, or to the bus or thr main square a lot faster over time!
I already knew all of these, but nice vid. Bonus tip, you can farm the trees off your farm for wood and tapper stuff. They will automatically respawn over time, so it's a great way to do those special quests, like when robin wants you to get 1k wood. Swapping to the perk that increases wood per harvest makes that quest go by fast with just the trees off your farm.
I have found that once I fill my silo that if I just give my animals unlimited access to outside grassy areas they don’t even eat the hay inside so unless it’s a rainy day I don’t have to feed them from the silo until winter time. It saves me a lot of work of cutting grass for extra silos of hay and it also saves me from having to pay for multiple silos. after realizing this I’ve only ever had one silo except for once when I needed two of them because I went a bit crazy with the amount of animals that I had 😂
You could buy a calendar. Orrrr…. You could keep the wiki open on a separate monitor. ;) that way I know when birthdays are and what I should give to each townsperson. (I have not memorized best gifts.)
Here’s one:fertilizer only does anything for the first harvest of a regrowing crop (unless it’s retaining soil) so you probably don’t want to waste your deluxe fertilizer on it
This is for PC players who are comfortable with mods but the NPC locator(I think) mod shows where any npc is on the map in real time and if they have a quest or birthday you will see an icon next to them to show this. Birthday is a present and quest is the exclamation mark
A good tip about full feeding tray in barns: you can use a cherry bomb to remove some of the hay there, so you can regain access to hay from the hopper.
For your tip #27 there is actually one much easier tip than just getting the calendar. If you go to the friend tab in the inventory and click on the villagers portrait you can see their birthday there as well as what they hate/dislike/like/love from either gifts you've already tried giving them OR what you've learned from secret notes or chatting with villagers. It's super useful for when you don't want to keep the wiki up but still want to give the best gift possible for raising friendship.
regarding tip number 30 at 12:54 this only applies if you don't have enough kegs/preserve jars to make artisan goods out of absolutely everything. especially if you have the artisan skill (but even if you dont), base quality wine still sells for more than even gold quality crops. if you can only process part of your crops, definitely use the low quality ones first, but if you have keg/jar space to spare, keg all your fruits (+ hops, wheat, pumpkins & red cabbage) and pickle all your veggies (+ apricot, blackberry, blueberry, hot pepper & salmonberry). i recommend the artisan profession btw! very efficient for making some money :P tl;dr: keg/jar as much as you can and only sell high quality stuff raw if you don't have the machine space to process everything
Tip 25: not quite right :) You can also get a speed buff from the savage ring. My favorite thing to do: drink espresso, eat spicy eel, two savage rings, kill a slime then jump on your horse. Super speed.
Another tip I never see anyone mention, goes along with 2 of your tips. 1. Only chopping down the top part of the tree and not the stumps in the early game. 2. Field snacks being good early game energy. My additional tip is: Trees drop seeds randomly on their own but leaving full grown trees everywhere blocks your vision so you can miss them and then another tree grows instead. But the stumps of trees continue to drop seeds even without the full grown tree and don't block your vision much at all, so if you just chop the tops of the trees off you can spend the early morning of each day making a quick trip around your farm collecting the tree seeds that are in the ground and turning them into field snacks. If you left a decent amount of stumps you can usually make like 4 or 5 each morning by only using a little bit of energy to dig them up. Also if you are cutting down trees, rotate which ones you cut down like do one of each instead of just using all your energy cutting down just the pine trees that way you'll get a higher chance of a mix of seeds that you can turn into field snacks to use to continue cutting down trees. If you do this correctly you can clear most of your trees in a single day with the energy you get from the field snacks.
My husband made a character named Wuturt that looks exactly like your character years ago!! It was the funniest co-op playthrough ever. Literally same avatar character with the same outfit!
@Barbara Aww. I really need that. Thank you for your reply. To be honest, I already felt a little frustrated but maybe I'll start again later and take it slow this time. Your reply made me feel better. Thank you.
Just sit back and enjoy it. There is so much to do, no need to rush it. Unless you are doing Sam's heart events, one has to be triggered in the first year but the internet is your friend for that.
Beach farm - first day of summer year one - Clear the beach of grass / debris then buy 600+ wheat seeds and plant on the beach over one or two days. - Never water - because you only need 4 rain days to get a crop, sell for quick profit or make beer for extra gold.
WAIT i have almost 400 hours in the game and i didn’t know wheat made beer. i knew honey made mead but i had no idea about beer. i guess it makes sense though, now i just feel dumb.
@@juliasherwood697 Plants do not die if they are not watered. They only do not grow to the next stage. So you can leave them unwatered as long as you get four TOTAL days of rain for them. Edit: which, since wheat grows both summer and fall, you probably can grow three or four crops of wheat. You might need to water the last crop a few times at the end of fall just to be sure.
A better way of doing the first tip is to just use a cherry bomb to blow up the hay this means you dont need a new coop etc and can just use a single cherry bomb
for the first tip, you don't actually need to buy a new barn / coop! just use a bomb (i prefer cherry bomb) to destroy some of the hay, and then you can get it out of the silo! :D
@@Z0MBiiK1TTY You destroy some of the hay just to gain access to the hopper. Then you can remove all the hay from your silo through the hopper and store it in a chest for your animals later. Then you can go scythe more hay and it will be stored in your now empty silo rather than be wasted.
Tip friggin 1 man!!!! I have close to 500 hours and I was like “pfft he won’t have Nintendo things”…well you just got yourself a new subscriber. 👍 We don’t make the rules.
A thing i learned is that if you have the artisan or rancher trait, don't sell emeralds directly, turn the into cheese at the desert trader then sell the cheese. It will get you more money than the emerald.
Sorry if it's been mentioned before, I can't find it anyways. For tip 1: you can use a bomb in a fully upgraded coop or barn to destroy some of the hay there, then you can take hay out of the hopper thing
Field Snacks are great, I'm lucky enough to have figured this out on the first spring of my first file, and I use them as food until Salmonberry season on all my new saves.
C is an alternate way to get fish too, I liked it better then mouse, you can also regain energy in the bath springs and it's surprising how many people don't use it
When selling crops, I like to sell my high quality crops to Pierre's because the NPC's will actually buy your crops and when you talk to them, they'll actually say they bought something and comment on how good it was. (depending on the quality of crops you sold) So, I like to save my high quality crops to sell to Pierre's and all my regular crops in the shipping bin. Same thing goes with selling fish to Willy. NPC's will sometimes buy fish and crops and occasionally comment on how much they liked it based on quality.
True. Indoors you'll have to use your best guess what spots are safe. Outdoors you can use the wiki to look up "pathing" and find images of where all the safe spaces are to plomp down a chest in Pelican Town. One favorite of mine is a chest behind George's trash can, between the tree and house. It's nice and central so it's great to store gifts for anyone in town. Also, tree fruits are liked gifts for everyone, so fruit trees are a great way to have something handy to give out any time. Better to give liked gifts regularly than loved gifts only rarely.
After you run out of space for sheds and kegs you can put kegs all over the map. I always use the tunnel and the road by it first. Any path NPCs take will destroy anything you place.
So uhh. My mom has 2011 hours in Stardew valley. I've loaded a few mods for her like Stardew valley expanded (after she got bored) and tractor mod (she loves the farming but can't really fish or mine... Also the NPCs are annoying in her opinion lol) I wonder if she can be considered a pro?
There is a fishing overhaul mod that if you cast the rod you catch fish automatically! Maybe that would be easier for her? I also use bombs instead of mining and it makes it go quicker. :)
This is me lol. So many things I'm missing or don't understand. Probably why I'm in Winter 1 and basically broke, and don't really have much to show for it all lol. I really want to make this game work but so much I have no clue about.
has anyone heard of the multiplayer hack where if you and someone your playing with both break something at the exact same time, it pops out two ? my sister and i tried this and we did it with crystalariums with diamonds in them. all you need is one to start out with one crystalarium and you can just do it over and over to your hearts content. i now have my basement filled with 50 of them pumping out diamonds every five days. it’s really helpful as i only started out with one and now can earn more money. plus, when you have a gem in the crystalarium, it gives you two gems back as well. you could do this hack with anything you break with a pickaxe, as long as you both break it at the same time. another similar hack is if you go to sell an animal and you both do it at the same time, it pays both of you. :)

Or just use any of the mods that give u a calendar in ur inventory
Lookupanything mod fixes this
The chair hack blew my mind
Same I never thought of that either
Another reason for keeping the stumps is that they spawn tree seeds around them over time.
thanks im gonna avoid that very specific tree thats in the thumbnail
Here’s one:fertilizer only does anything for the first harvest of a regrowing crop (unless it’s retaining soil) so you probably don’t want to waste your deluxe fertilizer on it
This is for PC players who are comfortable with mods but the NPC locator(I think) mod shows where any npc is on the map in real time and if they have a quest or birthday you will see an icon next to them to show this. Birthday is a present and quest is the exclamation mark
these tip videos are insane. with as many hours as i have you would think i would know most of them, but i only knew a handful...
if you have grass near the stable or chicken coop you can just open the animal door and you only have to feed them on rainy days
"So you never have to set foot near Pierre again" in this house we dunk on pierre

he says in the video that he will update the number as time goes on
but yeah that is kinda dumb
"field snack is a great food for early game, you can get it from day 1" apparently my foraging isn't high enough to craft that on day 1
@@rrandy8432 you get it from trash cans
A good tip about full feeding tray in barns: you can use a cherry bomb to remove some of the hay there, so you can regain access to hay from the hopper.
For your tip #27 there is actually one much easier tip than just getting the calendar. If you go to the friend tab in the inventory and click on the villagers portrait you can see their birthday there as well as what they hate/dislike/like/love from either gifts you've already tried giving them OR what you've learned from secret notes or chatting with villagers. It's super useful for when you don't want to keep the wiki up but still want to give the best gift possible for raising friendship.
regarding tip number 30 at 12:54
this only applies if you don't have enough kegs/preserve jars to make artisan goods out of absolutely everything. especially if you have the artisan skill (but even if you dont), base quality wine still sells for more than even gold quality crops. if you can only process part of your crops, definitely use the low quality ones first, but if you have keg/jar space to spare, keg all your fruits (+ hops, wheat, pumpkins & red cabbage) and pickle all your veggies (+ apricot, blackberry, blueberry, hot pepper & salmonberry). i recommend the artisan profession btw! very efficient for making some money :P
tl;dr: keg/jar as much as you can and only sell high quality stuff raw if you don't have the machine space to process everything
And for gifting?
Tip 25: not quite right :) You can also get a speed buff from the savage ring. My favorite thing to do: drink espresso, eat spicy eel, two savage rings, kill a slime then jump on your horse. Super speed.
I never thought about emptying my silo and putting the hay in a chest, I usually just buy another silo when it's full.
What i learned: This guy has tips.
What i didn't learn: How to get from Starter Farm to End Game.
I swear, for the green and orange spinning wheel, mine loves to hit orange when I try and do it.
Another minor thing about stumps is that they continue to spread seeds.
Use them for Field Snacks or more trees.
I just bought this on Switch the other day to start the new year and I already feel like I have so many things to do.
Well said! I've been preaching this for years, but you probably worded it better than I do.
how can you guarantee 4 rain days? how do they not die on the second day?
@@juliasherwood697 Plants do not die if they are not watered. They only do not grow to the next stage.
So you can leave them unwatered as long as you get four TOTAL days of rain for them.
Edit: which, since wheat grows both summer and fall, you probably can grow three or four crops of wheat. You might need to water the last crop a few times at the end of fall just to be sure.
11:50 THE CALLOUT LMAO
A better way of doing the first tip is to just use a cherry bomb to blow up the hay this means you dont need a new coop etc and can just use a single cherry bomb
Like blow up the grass or blow up the hay feeder thing or something else
I just don’t really understand
huh? does that give you hay? lol
Does that give hay?
@@kirin1230 No blowing up the hay in the feeder allows you to take hay out of the silo which allows you to collect more hay from the grass on ur farm
Thanks, dude I've been playing stardew for a little bit but there was still a lot I didn't know, this'll definitely save me some time!
Refill watering can in the sink? So obvious yet I never knew it 😂
for the first tip, you don't actually need to buy a new barn / coop! just use a bomb (i prefer cherry bomb) to destroy some of the hay, and then you can get it out of the silo! :D
Why do you need hay if not for your animals?
@@Z0MBiiK1TTY bundles
@@Z0MBiiK1TTY also your silo can only hold so much. I do it to store more hay just in case
My genuine reaction to the hovering-over-an-item-that's-needed-in-a-bundle: "What!!!! I didn't know you could do that!"
1200+ hrs in SDV and I learned that you can turn off Junimo harvest. Thank you for your helpful video.
A thing i learned is that if you have the artisan or rancher trait, don't sell emeralds directly, turn the into cheese at the desert trader then sell the cheese. It will get you more money than the emerald.
999 stone for a staircase is reasonable.
Sorry if it's been mentioned before, I can't find it anyways. For tip 1: you can use a bomb in a fully upgraded coop or barn to destroy some of the hay there, then you can take hay out of the hopper thing
Field Snacks are great, I'm lucky enough to have figured this out on the first spring of my first file, and I use them as food
until Salmonberry season on all my new saves.
thanks for the silo and the multi buying tip
i now have like 25 silos on my farm
Video plays - learns several things I didn't know.🙂😊
Video ends - what did I learn again? 😱😭
This was a great video Waligug, I didn't know many of these. Thanks.
Helpful tips for my multiplayer farm (my husband, my daughter and me). 10/10 video
It’s so cute you’re playing stardew with the whole family!
When i grow up, im gonna play stardew valley with my son🥺 but i think im not gonna grow up... Ur son is luck for having a parents like u. 🥺
Yea but then Pierre takes credit for the really good crops, while tells everyone you grew then if they are normal. This is why I shop at jojo.
@@sup1602 you’re so spiteful of Pierre that you take the time to walk 20 more in game minutes, just to shop… I can respect that.
@@willc7076 Pierre is a dooooooouche
Your outfit is mesmerizing!!! I’m still a noob on this game. I just started it on Thursday. 😉
Same here! Seems like so much to know!
Tip 29 - Be Warned! If a chest is placed in the path of where any NPC would walk they will destroy it in order to get past.
Also the NPCs are annoying in her opinion lol) I wonder if she can be considered a pro?
definitely
Definitely
2011 hour in and cant fish and mine?? tf
There is a fishing overhaul mod that if you cast the rod you catch fish automatically! Maybe that would be easier for her? I also use bombs instead of mining and it makes it go quicker. :)
Moms always rack up the craziest play-hours, they the real pros
I could have moved my fishing line this whole time......

I’m on my first play through in fall and with every video I’m shocked at how much more there is to this game then I thought 😳 I’m so behind
This is me lol. So many things I'm missing or don't understand. Probably why I'm in Winter 1 and basically broke, and don't really have much to show for it all lol. I really want to make this game work but so much I have no clue about.
love the idea that my horse is selling me ice cream
These field snacks saved my life so many times when I was almost dying in the mines…. Now I always have about 50 on me just in case
has anyone heard of the multiplayer hack where if you and someone your playing with both break something at the exact same time, it pops out two ? my sister and i tried this and we did it with crystalariums with diamonds in them. all you need is one to start out with one crystalarium and you can just do it over and over to your hearts content. i now have my basement filled with 50 of them pumping out diamonds every five days. it’s really helpful as i only started out with one and now can earn more money. plus, when you have a gem in the crystalarium, it gives you two gems back as well. you could do this hack with anything you break with a pickaxe, as long as you both break it at the same time. another similar hack is if you go to sell an animal and you both do it at the same time, it pays both of you. :)
YES i love this glitch i would always go mining so u can double the ores
@@mariahcareysbiggestfart yeah lol
this was a GREAT video on tips and tricks! also pretty funny! great job man!
The buying 25 items at a time thing can be done on console if you hold down both Square and X on the controler
For the full silo harvesting, you can blow up the hay in your barn so you can take some out of the hopper.
"looking at you rinqueen" i am dead. 💀💀
I knew them all except the tree stump one, thanks dude.
there is SO MUCH into this game, i feel like i’m not going enough😭😭😭😭
