I think many people are missing the real point of the game, which is just enjoying. It's literally endless, it never ends and if you miss anything, your game will be longer but that's actually the point. It's better than finishing everything and getting tired of it really fast. Instead, try to enjoy it, find the spouse you like, mine and die, get beautiful crops, make some kids, and just don't rush it. Once you get tired of it, it's really hard to find that magical feeling of always having something to do.

Don't sleep on fishing! Many portions of the game is gated by tools, quests, or just time, when the game starts - you are never going to have as much time on your hands to get fishing as you will at the start - which is a great thing, because fishing is a very good way of getting money in your hands immediately, which will help you get your farm off the ground!

@@LucyMusic1999 It's very simple. Hold left click near a body of water and try to fill up the green bar as mush as possible (perfect being a note if you succeed). Sooner or later, you'll hear wobbling sound, left click. The minigame begins where you just try to highlight the fish with your green bar as much as possible. There ya go. One more tip, if you're really having trouble, invest in training rod at Willie's it's cheap and it'll temporarily boost your fishing level to 5 meaning your green bar is MUCH bigger, thus making it much easier. There is one drawback to this tho, but I forgot what it was.

Alright I have NEVER seen anyone mention this mistake but in early game, I feel like this is important! When you first start the game, you might notice scything takes no energy. I have cut EVERYTHING scythe-able on my farm BEFORE I got a silo. Meaning, I had to wait for the grass to spawn back to get hay or I had to spend money on hay from Marnie. It would have been so much better had I *not* cut the grass. Like. Go ahead, cut the weeds for fiber, but don't cut the grass (or at least all of it...)

I LOVE how Linus likes cheap things, like spring onions and wild horseradish. Sure, it's just a like, not a love, but he's EASY and CHEAP to befriend.
Leah also likes cheap thing, including MOST forage.
    The following people LIKE Salmonberry:
    Demetrius
    Jodi
    Kent
    Leah
    Linus
    Pam
    Robin
    Sandy
    Shane.
Add Elliott and Harvey to that list for Blackberries.
This makes it SO EASY and CHEAP to befriend 8-10 villagers, for Grampa's Test. Just make sure you have 4 Forage level by the 15th of spring, and get all the salmonberries, for wonderful, stackable, food and gifts, and level 8 Forage level by the 8th of Fall, for the blackberries. At level 4, you get double berries and at level 8, you get triple berries.
And if you're at level 10, and you eat a survival burger, or pancakes, and then go foraging, for as long as the +2 buff lasts, you'll be getting FOUR berries per bush! And if you are a Botanist, that is FOUR IRIDIUM GIFTS PER BUSH! Even on a bad luck day, at four per bush, you're likely to break 100 and on a good luck day, at four per bush, you may even get 200! Per day! For FOUR DAYS!
I almost ALWAYS put everything else on the backburner during berry season. The berries are stackable FOOD and GIFTS, for a targeted handful of villagers. They're GREAT for in the mines, especially if you have Botanist, and they're iridium.
Also, turn those cheap salmonberries into jelly, and EVERYONE BUT SEBASTIAN will like them. Seriously, a stackable gift that applies to all but ONE villager? Gifting is SO EASY. Yes, it's a like, not a love, but that still gives you a decent bonus to friendship. And you can do SO MANY of them, quickly. Jellies take 2-3 days to make in a preserves barrel. Fill a shed or barn with preserves barrels, and use them to make expensive preserves (jellies, pickles, or even CAVIAR, if you have the sturgeon fish ponds) most of the year, but in berry season, you just pop those berries into the preserves jars, and have a big rush of jellies for friendshipping.
Salmonberry jelly sells for 15 g (or more, if you have the right abilities, such as the Bear's Knowledge and Artisan), so it's no big deal to give away something so cheap.
By the time I'm able to make preserves barrels, I'm easily getting better stackable food for the mines, so it's time to use all my left-over berries for jellies and gifts.
Also, give CAROLINE Daffodils, throughout spring, and by the last week, you should be able to get into her sun room for one free tea leaf per day (except Wednesday), plus the ability to craft tea saplings, which make GREAT permanent fencing, and a passive income the last week of spring, summer, and fall. And TEA is LOVED by Caroline and Lewis, and LIKED by everyone else, except for Jas and Vincent, and takes only 3 hours to make in a keg! Which means that, if you start building your fencing on the first of summer (or last of spring), you can have a nicely-defined farm, and EASY gifts for almost everyone, by the end of summer. If you plant those 30 spring seeds, and replant throughout the season, then by the end of spring, you'll have enough wild seeds to make LOTS of tea saplings, for LOTS of fencing, and LOTS of tea gifts! True, tea sells for 100 g, instead of 15, but it's still a pretty fast and easy and cheap gift.
And don't forget COFFEE! Another cheap and easy (and FAST to brew!) gift, IF you start out early in spring. I like to save my coffee beans from the coal sprites, and then plant them in my greenhouse, as soon as possible. Just a few will do the trick. Then, you save up the coffee beans you harvest in your greenhouse, and plant them, on day 1 of Spring, Year 2, so that you have a big coffee harvest, every few days. It takes quite a few beans to make coffee, but if you plant a large amount of the plants on the first day of spring, they'll give you coffee beans all through spring AND summer, every other day! It's surprisingly fast. And coffee is SUPER useful, as well as being a stackable gift for MOST villagers. Again, everyone but the children likes coffee. And Harvey LOVES it.

Another mistake is not fishing because it's too hard. Fishing is the biggest money maker early on. One of the fist stardew videos I watched on youtube helped me a lot: it suggested starting a game just to learn fishing, i.e. don't do anything but fish until it's not hard anymore then delete that game, don't plant, don't forage, just fish.

My entire thought process was the growing of my farm. I only went into town on the first day of the season to buy crops and then spent the rest of my time watering those crops and taking the back way to the mines. Another tip is to not sleep on using the statue of uncertainty. It’s 10,000 gold and it resets the perks of one of your skills. That really isn’t much money in the late game and using it to increase profits is fairly easy. 11:30 For mistake 20: you can chop every trees in your farm: in cindersap forest and backwoods there are 60+ trees that regrow by themselves (~24 days to regrow and gives ~1260 wood, so it's 1260 wood every 24 days)

    • @gsgaming6976
      @gsgaming6976 2 года назад +1

Yes, but you have to learn the farm to get those trees, so it takes more time. Also 1200 wood goes fast when you're making lots of preserve jars or chests or the like. Also if you keep some stumps around your farm you can spend a tiny amount of energy to how up the seeds to make field snacks, so early on if you leave an okay, pine, and maple stump close together you now have a reliable source of easy energy and seeds to plant trees you can tap.
It is still a really, really good idea to not completely clear your farm of trees/stumps too early.

Pro tip: When it comes to gifting, EVERY SINGLE VILLAGER has at least one relatively inexpensive item on their Loved and/or Liked list. At one point I actually made a spreadsheet containing all the villagers' cheapest Loved and Liked gifts, and it helped me a great deal. What I discovered is most effective is:
Flowers (except Dandelion and Poppy): Jas, Vincent
    Coffee: Abigail, Haley, & Sam
Parsnips: Literally everyone else (gold or iridium quality works best)
If you don't mind taking your time to get everyone to max levels, just stockpile flowers, coffees, and parsnips and hand them to the relevant villager on their birthday, three years running. You'll use up less storage space, have less money/loss, and have a really easy time finding all of the gifts you need. BIG time-saver, all around.

Although I may have made myself a chart of birthdays and what the best gifts for each person is (with several options in case I don't have one of them). For example, Leah loves goat cheese, salad, and wine - early on, I won't have goats, but I can afford to buy a salad from the salon to give it to her on her birthday.
I always set up a "gifts" chest at some point which I keep with stacks of 5-10 of loved gifts for every character. Except Pierre. Pierre gets dandelions or daffodils (both are liked) and he'll just have to deal with it.

mistake 12 has a mistake... the animal bundle only needs 5 items. You can complete the the animal bundle which you would only need a lvl 2 coop and a lvl 2 barn. I usually get 3 chickens and a duck hoping for a brown and white egg laying chicken to get those 2 large eggs and the duck egg. I get the Goat milk and the regular large milk from cows and complete the animal bundle. The Artisan bundle only needs 6 items and the cheeses (goat and regular) can be crafted from the lvl 2 barn, other items I use for this bundle are the jelly, honey and the cloth which I can obtain by recycling soggy newspaper (10% chance of cloth 90% change of making torches). The last item I use is a fruit which you can get from the traveling merchant, fruit bats in the cave or planting a tree sapling.

When you buy the chickens you can, before you click the coop, see if it is a white or brown chicken you get. If the second one is the same colour then just cancel and try again until you get the colour you want.

My biggest mistake by far was not knowing about the elevator, I dropped so much money on ores because I had no idea how to get iron until finally noticing the elevator near the end of my first year. Also, don't sleep on transmute recipes, if you have extra copper and need iron, just covert it instead of spending time grinding iron.

on the last day of a season I always buy a bunch of the cheapest crop that I can find and plant all over my farm, even though they won't grow in time (which is what I want). That way, when the nex season starts, all the crops have died and I can just get rid of them with my scythe and the farmland will still be there and it will already be watered by my sprinklers. Then I don't have to spend ages tilling and watering all of the land again before I can plant my new crops (this is more late game though)

Speed running play style would be my purest hell in Stardew Valley.
This game is all about the chill, the comfort and discipline of a solid daily routine, and exploring the world around you.
It's kinda why I HATE the Qi challenges, because they cater to the sweaty min/maxers that setup ugly, industrial scale farms.
The one where you make fresh food is easy, though, as I just buy about 1,700 wheat flour from Pierre, then make about 1,700 bread. Done.
Granted, a smaller farm, with lots of cabins and wine cellars is my go-to, because you stockpile ancient fruit on Ginger island, process them over time into wine, then chuck them in the cellar. is starfruit wine more lucrative? Sure, but it's more tedious, as they aren't a plant once crop like the ancient fruit. I mix starfruit wine into rotation once and a while, but I almost exclusively run ancient fruit. Pretty glorious when 8 wine cellars each with 125 iridium ancient fruit wine are ready to sell for 4,620,000 Gold.
Now, sometimes, just for role play, I'll do a limited run of non-aged seasonal wine, like melon wine, pineapple wine, or strawberry wine, because it's fun.
i only have cows so that I can make a steady supply of cheese to go with my steady supply of jalapenos and coffee beans, so I can do the triple-shot espresso and pepper popper platter speed boost combo.
All in all, I just like exploring, fishing, and attending festivals. Not really into the skull cavern stuff, either. Combat in this game is kinda clunky, and i hate the idea of loosing a bunch of my stuff, and only being able to retrieve some of it. I wish Marlon's services retrieved all lost items. I'd then 100% do combat more.

Salads are kind of the key to my early game, to be honest. Once I get that first strawberry crop in the ground and get basic necessities like beginner tool upgrades and the first backpack upgrade sorted, I try to keep a few salads on me at all times. They're great for both energy and health, AND they're almost a universally liked gift. Ran across an NPC you haven't seen in a while and want to gift them? Salad. Run out of energy watering crops? Salad. On level 89 of the mines and want to try to squeeze out that one more level? Salad. Single slot, easy supply, relatively cheap, highly useful for multiple purposes. Never bankrupt yourself buying them, but ALWAYS consider keeping some of them around.

Oh my, yeah, I might have missed the shipping bin, too, if I hadn't already watched my roommate play. My min-max thing for a while was sashimi: kept a list of fish that sold for less than 75gold and always made sashimi out of them (house upgrade required first to get kitchen - wait, can you cook elsewhere before then???). Sashimi is a liked and loved gift of several villagers, too, so I had one backpack slot in use for a ton of energy for myself and gifts, and when my stock got high, I sold a ton for 75g each. Especially when I had my three free crab pots on the farm and got cheap fish on the daily.
Current playthrough, I'm in my first winter and just a duck egg away from unlocking the greenhouse, which I wanted fixed before winter. Had banked on the traveling cart having it when I needed it, and now I'm waiting for my ducks to grow up in the upgraded coop I just built.

A lot of simple mistakes, I never got the chance to make. My first time playing was in multiplayer with my sister who has had several saves and with those saves had put years into them. So she would tell me the basics while we played.
The dino egg. I know has an insane low drop rate while fishing. I had to have had a lucky day. When fishing, I got a dino egg, the next fish I went for also had a dino egg. What are the chances on that with a low drop rate. Two dino eggs back to back.
With the ancient seeds. You can get them in the seed maker, even when its not the fruit you put in them. Though its a small chance, but it can happen. I was using strawberries in the seed maker and got an ancient seed from it.
When NPC's and animals block your path and they don't move, just keep walking into them. Eventually they will shake and you will walk through them. I've had my cat block my path while inside while needing to get to bed and it was a sleep, so I kept walking walking into it and the cat started shaking then I walked right through it. NPCs can do the same, block their path, they will soon walk through you and move faster.

One thing, I did on my first playthrough was to keep everything. I was oblivious to the community center, buying and upgrading house, coop, and barn. Bought fish and stuff from the traveling cart. I could not get a hang of fishing. Finally, I got around to building a coop, and barn. Got lots of pigs. My journal was pages full of not completed quests. Finally, my husband told me he was thinking of Emily and I said wait. Never could find Sebastian, so I married Harvey. I got lots of gold from the pigs. Since I had gotten fish from Krobus and Traveling Cart during those other years, I completed the community center easily. Believe it or not, I completed level 10 fishing by crab pots. It took a long time and lots of crab pots, but it was done.
