something that always got me curious is the relationship dynamics of linus and the wizard. you see them together (or at least near each other) when you attend spirit’s eve and festival of ice. however, when reading their dialogue scripts, there isn’t any clear signs that they’ve known or met each other in any capacity.

The ones that invented the "X is Sebastian father" theory feel like they haven't even played the game. He says that his father went to Zuzu to follow a more exciting life style because he was going crazy living in the calmness of the village, so definitely no NPC in the village is his father.
I've always thought that the player should be able to run against Lewis in a mayor election cause he's not doing shit for the community. Like go around and build up hearts with the villagers but in competition against Lewis. The player does more for the economy and overall wellbeing of Pelican Town then Lewis ever does. As for the festivals, Gus cooks all the food, I think Emily has dialogue about making the jackolantern decorations, implying that she and other villagers do the decorating, the Wizard designed the maze for Spirit's Eve, Willy has dialogue about helping hide the eggs for the egg festival, implying that it's usually some sort of team effort, and Pierre or the Traveling Cart run the shops. Like the only thing with the festivals that Lewis actually does is announce the start/end times of certain events, judge the garange display, and try to butter up the Govener at the Luau. Look at how nice his house is while directly behind him, Pam and Penny live in a mobile home (which the player and Robin end up fixing). Lewis has done literally nothing but make a statue of himself and gaslight Marnie into believing that their relationship would somehow be a scandal. The player is already the defacto mayor, but I want to run an election campaign lmao
That you know of. Is he a good mayor no (gold statue, community center) but it does not mean he does nothing. He fills out the paperwork that allows them to do this stuff. he makes sure everything does happen. Basically he does all the boring stuff and holds his head on the block so they can have these events so you or anyone else does not have to. You can't be mayor because then the game would just become a paperwork simulator. you don't have time to farm or explore or relax anymore. if you try the valley will suffer. You didn't sign form 4476 so now the dance can't happen. No sorry you signed 332 not 334 so you can have the carnival but you are not allowed to set up the games. He's not mired in what's conventional, or conventially attractive - yet he is the centre of the social and night life of Pelican town, in fact, it literally wouldn't exist if it weren't for Gus. His five heart event is him gifting you a jukebox, and his residence contains the only other jukebox in town, with Gus staying in there all alone all of every single morning - rehearsal time, anyone? I must say though, I firmly believe that Gus' drag persona is (SPOILER) that fabulous secret statue with the pot belly and the big pink bow hidden away in the back - welcome to the stage... Pinky Lemon! 😘

Most of the Sebastian dad theories don’t make sense. Shane being the dad doesn’t make sense because neither he, Robin, Demetrius, or Seb make mentions of each other that imply that Shane has any connection to the family. And personally I think Shane would be too young as a think he’s more late twenties early thirties and Seb is supposed to be college age. Krobus doesn’t make sense because we don’t even know if a human and shadow person couple can even have kids or if they would even look human. and the majority of the villagers don’t know that shadow people actually exist or if they do most shadow people have been hostile to humans anyways. Seb is just a sad boy who has divorced parents, feels detached from his family, and is unsure what to do with his life. It’s really not that far fetched why he tends to like the darker aesthetic.
A fun fact about the broken glasses thing. When you gift Evelyn a pair of broken glasses, she thanks you and tells you how she had been looking for them the entire time. So it's pretty much confirmed it's Evelyn who's throwing them away (also, she must be loaded, being able to afford so many glasses)
That makes more sense than Abigail's. I personally believe it's Jas... Then again, he may have been busier than most people think and several children in the valley is a possibility.
I personally think it’s Emily but I do really like that idea. It also explains why they’re kind of both drawn to the tower (Caroline going on walks there as she says in dialogue and Abigail just kinda hangs)
I wish Stardew Valley gets a few more playable areas and expands into the ones we have. The Secret Woods are actually minimal, I would've expected the area to be kinda like the cave in the quarry, but it's just your daily hardwood dispenser; the area where the Flower Dance happens is entirely unplayable outside of the event; the Calico Desert is essentially an area with Sandy's store and the Skull Cavern, among other places which seem like they'd be interesting to explore.
Agreed...there are mods that extend the gameplay of the game but I don't necessarily like some of them. I want to see Marnie getting what she deserves, possibly by having Marlon marry her. In the flower dance she's so sad...and the stupid mayor won't make their relationship public. That's terrible. 😞 The secret woods should've been bigger I aggree 🥰
When you marry, your partner doesn't always stay on the farm. Harvey still goes to the clinic, Sebastian goes and sees his mum, Elliott goes for walks around town, he even has a heart even not long after you marry where he leaves for a week. They still do things.
i just wanted to put this out there, evelyn being on the mantle, telling the player to call her grandma, evelyn talking fondly of your grandpa, and no other grandma to the player being stated... if evelyn is your grandma, those who marry alex... are marrying there half cousin.
I know this is old and someone has probably already said it but, 'gunther is a ghost cause how would he know how old the key is'? He works at the museum! It's kinda his job to know how old stuff is and museums tend to keep a pretty clear dating system from what I can gather. That's just.... Such a strange oversight to try to make a theory work
"Shane might have depression" may be the understatement of the century, you literally convince him not to kill himself. Also, I always hate the "youre actually dead" and "it was all a dream" theories personally, theyre too easy, we dont know what happens in death, so, literally anything can be explained as "youre dead," to the point you cant argue that youre alive rn, could all be in the afterlife and theres no way to prove or disprove it. Same with dreams, no logic, so, everything is explained away by it, though, there is like, clocks and computers, and written language, which are all things that tend not to work in dreams, so, theres that. The "its qi's simulation" is good tho, has some effort put in.
To be honest I think it's a little more...screwy than that even. The fact that an obvious computer is called a Dwarven "contraption" there's mutated creatures and the like as well as references to a war and ongoing wars, I think the game may actually be post-post-apocalyptic. Where society had finally rebuilt enough to be considered functional and recognizable but some things were still lost to us. That's really just a guess with minimal information though.
About Sebastian being the child of a shadow person. If you pay attention to his dialogue you'll notice he actually doesn't like the basement he lives in. He mentions that he'd like a window.
Shane's depression is a story element, right? Spoilers: There's a cutscenes where he considers commiting suicide while incredibly inebriated. In another cutscenes, he talks about getting help in the nearby city. Shane is one of my favorite characters, and those scenes really hurt me
As soon as I found out about his problems it's been a goal for me to get to the 8 hearts and the cutscenes where so sad this game never made me get so emotional over npcs ever it's probably unhealthy to feel strong emotions over a game

With the "Sebastian's dad being a Shadow Person" theory, Sebastian is also the only human villager that likes Void Eggs as a gift. The only other characters in the village that like them are the Wizard and Krobus. He also can mention that he sometimes has dreams where he is a Shadow Shaman. EDIT: Also with Grandpa possibly having a fling with Evelynn, it WOULD make sense since when you introduce yourself to her, she says "You can call me "Granny" if you like". Because she IS our grandmother.

i do think gunther is a ghost, and that the villagers just assume the library to be communal. then they just assume hey they new farmer brought back all the books we lost while not having anyone check up on that and assume the farmer takes care of the place. gunther literally doesn't show up on any of the events and nobody ever mentions him.

I have a theory that in Emily’s 10 heart event, she secretly orchestrated the entire sequence of events. There’s several pieces of dialogue from her that subtly implies that she can understand and communicate with plants and animals, which makes me think that she talked to the bear beforehand to have it scare us, and intentionally left one sleeping bag outside as to force us to share one
for the “player died on the way” theory, that means the pet is their best friend/dream pet that they never got to see, and in co-op the farmhands are either their dead friends or friends that they imagine would join them

Leah, Elliot, and Penny really don't change their schedule much once you marry them, everyone else however becomes almost entirely confined to your farm for some reason (Elliot and Leah also stay at your farm all the time, but they didn't initially leave their houses much in the first place)
@@valarmis Harvey isn’t confined to the farm at all he still goes to the clinic on Tuesday and Thursday and on Mondays he likes to go take a walk to the fountain. He pretty much does his own thing while also helping water the crops from time to time.

He’s really sweet and he loves being a husband and father at the farm and he doesn’t really have serious problems like the others other than Leah, Elliot, and Emily. He’s afraid of heights and couldn’t fully fulfill his dream of being a pilot, but he made adjustments and takes his role as a doctor seriously and even makes an effort to try to overcome his fear of heights in his ten heart event.
I saw the green sea monster event in the first week I had the game, and I asked my friend "Hey whats up with that little sea monster in the ocean??" And they started freaking out because they had been playing for a few years and have never seen it and here I was, just a little noob, finding all the secret things
The "you ruined your spouse's life" theory is still so strange to me. You mention that the spouse is "ripped away from their family and friends," but like, Sebastian visits his family every Monday and still hangs out with Sam and Abigail on Fridays. How is it any different to the real world where partners live together and visit family/friends on occasion? Maybe I'm just uninformed and other spouses don't leave the farm of their own will.

I think its more about what they aspired to be and what they become. Alex wants to be a famous athlete, Sebastian wants to leave the town for the big city but they both end up as stay-at-home husbands/dads in the end... for the other bachelors I am unsure how you ruin their life. Shane is his own life-ruiner, Penny gets away from her alcoholic mother and for the others I am unsure what they aspire to be but yeah.. It's all up to interpretation. I can imagine some people see the relationship as being one-sided and thus feel like they "force" the spouse into the farm life. But thats just my guess

@@tinablabla - I always pick Sebastian, and a lot of his dialogue reflects how he changes his mind about leaving. He stops seeing the big city as the escape he needs to feel happy. He already works as a freelancing programmer, so I see him as still working on those kinds of projects on the farm, and with the new update, he also starts a frog terrarium to take care of injured frogs around Pelican Town. As for Alex, I thought he admits that most of his “I’m going to be a famous athlete” talk was bragging and he realizes he won’t be able to go pro long before you enter a relationship with him. I would say it’s strange that he gives up on the dream and doesn’t keep trying, but my point is more that he changes his mind before dating the farmer (and I know it’s before because I’ve never dated or married Alex and I see these lines all the time). I do agree with you though that the process of “wooing” your partner is very simple and comes across like brainwashing them into liking you through material things. Definitely a limitation of the gameplay. Though, I always saw it as you growing closer to them also by talking to them as often as possible. It’s a small amount, but you earn friendship by talking with the people of PT every day. And you lose points when you don’t. So if you only give gifts twice a week, that’s five days where your points are slowly going down. Admittedly, it’s a minimal amount, but it’s still an element that exists.

Linus didn't found joja but still worked for joja. I figured out a way more plausible theory . Pelican town was a mining town . The mines were owned by joja and Linus was the department manager of joja mining . One day a there was a massive disaster in the mines . Paralyzing George, taking one of Marlon's eyes and killing m jasper . Joja found out that it was the dwarves ship crashing into the mines that caused the collapse. A war between the shadow people and dwarves broke out . Joja hired the wizard to clear the mines but all he could do was broker a peace . The mines were too dangerous to mine now so joja pulled out . Linus feeling responsible for the deaths and ruined lives decided to live a life of seclusion. Marlon losing friends decided to protect anyone from going in the mine that wasn't prepared. The wizard also keeping an eye on things . Joja decided to make a store in the now unused company owned building. Then Pelican town slowly started to become a dilapidated version of itself since all the work from the mines dried up. Also i don't think that Abigail and Caroline are biologically connected. I think Abigail is the daughter of the witch and wizard . Caroline said she used to adventure out to the wizard's tower often then stopped. I think the wizard gave her Abigail to hide from the witch to keep her safe because the wizard loves the witch still .it was just because she got corrupted and turned evil .

so Guinea pigs can have wheels, but they have to be HUGE (think a small dog wheel at least 3 ft maybe 4 in diameter for smaller or dwarfed piggies.) and unless their cage is also huge, it likely wont fit in their enclosure. growing up my piggie had one, but it was big enough that the neighbors teacup Chihuahua could also run on it. the main concern is that it has to be large enough so the animal can run while keeping a straight back. i think if he extended the cage design to be 3 tiles wide with a huge wheel inside, and altered her dialogue to say "guinea pigs" the debate would be over on that part. i just don't think the dev had a whole lot of info on rodent upkeep (hell even most American rodent owners did not have such info till just the 2010s.) so i don't blame him for the enclosure and care. he could also change her wording to "hamster" just as easily. id still upgrade the cage size either way as hamies require a lot of space too...

All the problems people have with Abigail are absolutely correct: there is tons and tons of misinformation about Guinea pigs, causing many people to think that how Abigail has hers set up is perfectly fine. However, I don’t think the game will cause any harm to real Guinea pigs out there. There’s a lot of causes for misinfo surrounding piggies, and Stardew valley is very low on that list lmao

You die in the office cut scene when you first load up the game, but Pelican Town ISN’T your final destination. It’s a limbo stage where you’re actions and decisions decide where you go. That’s why Grandpa and Qi are watching you, rating you. To decide where your final destination is. The community center and joja could be like the “good and evil”, plus how you interact to the npcs (like buying Pam a house but not telling her) Maybe the cut scene on the mountain top when you reach perfection could be you “ascending to a better place.” All of the issues could be people trapped in their decisions or waiting to move on, not knowing their dead yet either?

I noticed something the other day to add to Linus. I was exploring sprits eve and found the hat mouse house where joja mart should be. I don't think Linus founded Joja. But maybe his land was bought out from under him. The wizard tried helping Linus by moving linus's home closer to his tower. But Linus was already broken inside by the cruelty he experienced by the hand of Joja so he chooses to be recluse in the mountains. But once a year during spirits eve the wizard does decorations, and transforms the town to a version from the past, where Linus is still part of the community, home intact.
Winter door could possibly be a nightmare before Christmas reference? Since in that each holiday had a door on a tree and the door in-game appears Infront of a tree. Idk might be a stretch just the first though that came to mind

Ok, here’s my two cents on the guinea pig situation because I have this same feeling as a fish hobbyist seeing improper habitat in movies and games: There are long standing IMPROPER habitats that are visually used all the time. Hamsters in plastic cages with tubing, goldfish or bettas in bowls, mice in a tiny cage-all of these things can be seen in movies, read in books, seen in art and games. These are inappropriate habitats that are scientifically proven to kill your pet quickly and/or cause neurological disorders. Consider this my ‘tism showing as a small animal and fish hobbyist, however it’s also because continuing to include inappropriate habitats continues to push the acceptance of these habitats. Guinea pigs are communal and require wide open spaces with proper bedding, toys etc. mice are communal (including males, who should not be alone and should be neutered and placed with females or not neutered and placed with African soft fur rats which are as small as mice and can’t procreate with mice so they pair well together) Hamsters are SOLO ANIMALS-SOOOOOLO. NO PAIRS. NO COMMUNITY. They are SOOOOOLO animals who require the size or equivalent of a 40 gallon tank and a properly sized wheel, with deep burrow-able bedding and toys. All fish require air filter and all tropical fish require a heater, bowls are banned overseas and each fish has a gallon size requirement in order to grow appropriately. These things are constantly missed in art, movies, books, games and DO have the ability to influence the consumer on what is “okay.”

Not just because they're small, but because there's a lot of misinformation spread. Like how people assume goldfish can be kept in bowls just because that's the way it was done for so long. A lot of the research on proper pet enrichment is fairly new and not widely known yet, and unfortunately people are still far too trusting of pet store employees alone.

The ones that invented the "X is Sebastian father" theory feel like they haven't even played the game. He says that his father went to Zuzu to follow a more exciting life style because he was going crazy living in the calmness of the village, so definitely no NPC in the village is his father.
I've always thought that the player should be able to run against Lewis in a mayor election cause he's not doing shit for the community. Like go around and build up hearts with the villagers but in competition against Lewis. The player does more for the economy and overall wellbeing of Pelican Town then Lewis ever does. As for the festivals, Gus cooks all the food, I think Emily has dialogue about making the jackolantern decorations, implying that she and other villagers do the decorating, the Wizard designed the maze for Spirit's Eve, Willy has dialogue about helping hide the eggs for the egg festival, implying that it's usually some sort of team effort, and Pierre or the Traveling Cart run the shops. Like the only thing with the festivals that Lewis actually does is announce the start/end times of certain events, judge the garange display, and try to butter up the Govener at the Luau. Look at how nice his house is while directly behind him, Pam and Penny live in a mobile home (which the player and Robin end up fixing). Lewis has done literally nothing but make a statue of himself and gaslight Marnie into believing that their relationship would somehow be a scandal. The player is already the defacto mayor, but I want to run an election campaign lmao

You can't be mayor because then the game would just become a paperwork simulator. you don't have time to farm or explore or relax anymore. if you try the valley will suffer.

His five heart event is him gifting you a jukebox, and his residence contains the only other jukebox in town, with Gus staying in there all alone all of every single morning - rehearsal time, anyone?

Most of the Sebastian dad theories don’t make sense. Shane being the dad doesn’t make sense because neither he, Robin, Demetrius, or Seb make mentions of each other that imply that Shane has any connection to the family. And personally I think Shane would be too young as a think he’s more late twenties early thirties and Seb is supposed to be college age.
Krobus doesn’t make sense because we don’t even know if a human and shadow person couple can even have kids or if they would even look human. and the majority of the villagers don’t know that shadow people actually exist or if they do most shadow people have been hostile to humans anyways.
Seb is just a sad boy who has divorced parents, feels detached from his family, and is unsure what to do with his life. It’s really not that far fetched why he tends to like the darker aesthetic.

I wish Stardew Valley gets a few more playable areas and expands into the ones we have. The Secret Woods are actually minimal, I would've expected the area to be kinda like the cave in the quarry, but it's just your daily hardwood dispenser; the area where the Flower Dance happens is entirely unplayable outside of the event; the Calico Desert is essentially an area with Sandy's store and the Skull Cavern, among other places which seem like they'd be interesting to explore.

When you marry, your partner doesn't always stay on the farm. Harvey still goes to the clinic, Sebastian goes and sees his mum, Elliott goes for walks around town, he even has a heart even not long after you marry where he leaves for a week. They still do things.
Shane is WAY too young to be Sebastian's father. Mans would have needed to be like 12-14 when Sebby was made for that to be true.

Also, I always hate the "youre actually dead" and "it was all a dream" theories personally, theyre too easy, we dont know what happens in death, so, literally anything can be explained as "youre dead," to the point you cant argue that youre alive rn, could all be in the afterlife and theres no way to prove or disprove it. Same with dreams, no logic, so, everything is explained away by it, though, there is like, clocks and computers, and written language, which are all things that tend not to work in dreams, so, theres that. The "its qi's simulation" is good tho, has some effort put in.
To be honest I think it's a little more...screwy than that even. The fact that an obvious computer is called a Dwarven "contraption" there's mutated creatures and the like as well as references to a war and ongoing wars, I think the game may actually be post-post-apocalyptic. Where society had finally rebuilt enough to be considered functional and recognizable but some things were still lost to us.
That's really just a guess with minimal information though.

With the "Sebastian's dad being a Shadow Person" theory, Sebastian is also the only human villager that likes Void Eggs as a gift. The only other characters in the village that like them are the Wizard and Krobus. He also can mention that he sometimes has dreams where he is a Shadow Shaman.

I have a theory that in Emily’s 10 heart event, she secretly orchestrated the entire sequence of events. There’s several pieces of dialogue from her that subtly implies that she can understand and communicate with plants and animals, which makes me think that she talked to the bear beforehand to have it scare us, and intentionally left one sleeping bag outside as to force us to share one
for the “player died on the way” theory, that means the pet is their best friend/dream pet that they never got to see, and in co-op the farmhands are either their dead friends or friends that they imagine would join them

Leah, Elliot, and Penny really don't change their schedule much once you marry them, everyone else however becomes almost entirely confined to your farm for some reason (Elliot and Leah also stay at your farm all the time, but they didn't initially leave their houses much in the first place)

@@valarmis Harvey isn’t confined to the farm at all he still goes to the clinic on Tuesday and Thursday and on Mondays he likes to go take a walk to the fountain. He pretty much does his own thing while also helping water the crops from time to time.

He’s really sweet and he loves being a husband and father at the farm and he doesn’t really have serious problems like the others other than Leah, Elliot, and Emily. He’s afraid of heights and couldn’t fully fulfill his dream of being a pilot, but he made adjustments and takes his role as a doctor seriously and even makes an effort to try to overcome his fear of heights in his ten heart event.

The "you ruined your spouse's life" theory is still so strange to me. You mention that the spouse is "ripped away from their family and friends," but like, Sebastian visits his family every Monday and still hangs out with Sam and Abigail on Fridays. How is it any different to the real world where partners live together and visit family/friends on occasion? Maybe I'm just uninformed and other spouses don't leave the farm of their own will.
I have married most of them and alex visits george and Evelyn,sam and haley visit their families,penny goes shopping and teaches the kids,Emily takes walks aroun town and visits haley,same for sebastian
I think its more about what they aspired to be and what they become. Alex wants to be a famous athlete, Sebastian wants to leave the town for the big city but they both end up as stay-at-home husbands/dads in the end... for the other bachelors I am unsure how you ruin their life. Shane is his own life-ruiner, Penny gets away from her alcoholic mother and for the others I am unsure what they aspire to be but yeah..
It's all up to interpretation. I can imagine some people see the relationship as being one-sided and thus feel like they "force" the spouse into the farm life. But thats just my guess

alex i watched a video on and i kinda agree with is that hes a good representation on how like sometimes dreams just dont work out? although that storyline is also messed up a bit so idk but i kinda like the idea but maybe thats because my own dreams i have realized arent smth that would work for me and thats okay.

@@tinablabla - I always pick Sebastian, and a lot of his dialogue reflects how he changes his mind about leaving. He stops seeing the big city as the escape he needs to feel happy. He already works as a freelancing programmer, so I see him as still working on those kinds of projects on the farm, and with the new update, he also starts a frog terrarium to take care of injured frogs around Pelican Town.
As for Alex, I thought he admits that most of his “I’m going to be a famous athlete” talk was bragging and he realizes he won’t be able to go pro long before you enter a relationship with him. I would say it’s strange that he gives up on the dream and doesn’t keep trying, but my point is more that he changes his mind before dating the farmer (and I know it’s before because I’ve never dated or married Alex and I see these lines all the time).
I do agree with you though that the process of “wooing” your partner is very simple and comes across like brainwashing them into liking you through material things. Definitely a limitation of the gameplay. Though, I always saw it as you growing closer to them also by talking to them as often as possible. It’s a small amount, but you earn friendship by talking with the people of PT every day. And you lose points when you don’t. So if you only give gifts twice a week, that’s five days where your points are slowly going down. Admittedly, it’s a minimal amount, but it’s still an element that exists.
Maybe not ripped away from family friends but like they cease all their hopes and dreams like Alex must have a sports star he just stops and becomes a stay at home dad like it's kinda kinda sad

Could be just japans super strict views on drugs, implying that it was actually supposed to be drugs since they changed if for the Japanese version to begin with.

Linus didn't found joja but still worked for joja. I figured out a way more plausible theory . Pelican town was a mining town . The mines were owned by joja and Linus was the department manager of joja mining . One day a there was a massive disaster in the mines . Paralyzing George, taking one of Marlon's eyes and killing m jasper . Joja found out that it was the dwarves ship crashing into the mines that caused the collapse. A war between the shadow people and dwarves broke out . Joja hired the wizard to clear the mines but all he could do was broker a peace . The mines were too dangerous to mine now so joja pulled out . Linus feeling responsible for the deaths and ruined lives decided to live a life of seclusion. Marlon losing friends decided to protect anyone from going in the mine that wasn't prepared. The wizard also keeping an eye on things . Joja decided to make a store in the now unused company owned building. Then Pelican town slowly started to become a dilapidated version of itself since all the work from the mines dried up. Also i don't think that Abigail and Caroline are biologically connected. I think Abigail is the daughter of the witch and wizard . Caroline said she used to adventure out to the wizard's tower often then stopped. I think the wizard gave her Abigail to hide from the witch to keep her safe because the wizard loves the witch still .it was just because she got corrupted and turned evil .

so Guinea pigs can have wheels, but they have to be HUGE (think a small dog wheel at least 3 ft maybe 4 in diameter for smaller or dwarfed piggies.) and unless their cage is also huge, it likely wont fit in their enclosure. growing up my piggie had one, but it was big enough that the neighbors teacup Chihuahua could also run on it. the main concern is that it has to be large enough so the animal can run while keeping a straight back. i think if he extended the cage design to be 3 tiles wide with a huge wheel inside, and altered her dialogue to say "guinea pigs" the debate would be over on that part. i just don't think the dev had a whole lot of info on rodent upkeep (hell even most American rodent owners did not have such info till just the 2010s.) so i don't blame him for the enclosure and care. he could also change her wording to "hamster" just as easily. id still upgrade the cage size either way as hamies require a lot of space too...

All the problems people have with Abigail are absolutely correct: there is tons and tons of misinformation about Guinea pigs, causing many people to think that how Abigail has hers set up is perfectly fine. However, I don’t think the game will cause any harm to real Guinea pigs out there. There’s a lot of causes for misinfo surrounding piggies, and Stardew valley is very low on that list lmao

You die in the office cut scene when you first load up the game, but Pelican Town ISN’T your final destination. It’s a limbo stage where you’re actions and decisions decide where you go. That’s why Grandpa and Qi are watching you, rating you. To decide where your final destination is. The community center and joja could be like the “good and evil”, plus how you interact to the npcs (like buying Pam a house but not telling her) Maybe the cut scene on the mountain top when you reach perfection could be you “ascending to a better place.” All of the issues could be people trapped in their decisions or waiting to move on, not knowing their dead yet either?

I noticed something the other day to add to Linus. I was exploring sprits eve and found the hat mouse house where joja mart should be.
I don't think Linus founded Joja. But maybe his land was bought out from under him. The wizard tried helping Linus by moving linus's home closer to his tower. But Linus was already broken inside by the cruelty he experienced by the hand of Joja so he chooses to be recluse in the mountains. But once a year during spirits eve the wizard does decorations, and transforms the town to a version from the past, where Linus is still part of the community, home intact.

Ok, here’s my two cents on the guinea pig situation because I have this same feeling as a fish hobbyist seeing improper habitat in movies and games:
There are long standing IMPROPER habitats that are visually used all the time. Hamsters in plastic cages with tubing, goldfish or bettas in bowls, mice in a tiny cage-all of these things can be seen in movies, read in books, seen in art and games. These are inappropriate habitats that are scientifically proven to kill your pet quickly and/or cause neurological disorders.
Consider this my ‘tism showing as a small animal and fish hobbyist, however it’s also because continuing to include inappropriate habitats continues to push the acceptance of these habitats.
Guinea pigs are communal and require wide open spaces with proper bedding, toys etc. mice are communal (including males, who should not be alone and should be neutered and placed with females or not neutered and placed with African soft fur rats which are as small as mice and can’t procreate with mice so they pair well together) Hamsters are SOLO ANIMALS-SOOOOOLO. NO PAIRS. NO COMMUNITY. They are SOOOOOLO animals who require the size or equivalent of a 40 gallon tank and a properly sized wheel, with deep burrow-able bedding and toys.
All fish require air filter and all tropical fish require a heater, bowls are banned overseas and each fish has a gallon size requirement in order to grow appropriately.
These things are constantly missed in art, movies, books, games and DO have the ability to influence the consumer on what is “okay.”
I LOVE to see comments like this! Sure, it might just be a game, but it all feeds into the widespread and just totally incorrect narrative that small cages and companionship, or lack thereof, are okay.

people looking at smaller pets, especially rodents, and going "OH! thats a low maintenance pet who definitely wont need much is good! i should get one and not bother too much with researching its needs" is disturbingly common.
because theyre small, a lot of people may do way way less research and end up with harmful enclosures or lifestyles for lil furrry children. so its really dependent on individual people whether they have the common sense to research properly or not
Not just because they're small, but because there's a lot of misinformation spread. Like how people assume goldfish can be kept in bowls just because that's the way it was done for so long. A lot of the research on proper pet enrichment is fairly new and not widely known yet, and unfortunately people are still far too trusting of pet store employees alone.
About the Witch revenge theory. We know that the shrine of selfishness gets rid of a child using a prismatic shard. And Haley hates prismatic shards. Is it possible Haley is the Wizard's daughter?
