That drum kit is still wondering what the hell happened that night
Maaaan I laughed so hard
😂😂
America! Fuck yeah!
🤣
😂😂😂
The historic day that Metallica had a drummer.
i was ready to post the same thing..
Indeed, Lars is one of the few exceptional drummers that has gotten worse the more he's played.
The amount of fanboys that think Lars is a good drummer just cause they like the band is just, how do the kids say it, cringe?
@@jtn81x He is a brilliant drummer. Entirely adequate for Metallicas music. Joey is merely replicating what Lars created.
@@motleydude73 lmao no. Lars' drumming is only adequate for a high school band. It's not even about his ridiculously simplistic style, it's that he can barely maintain tempo when on stage. At least he's started practicing in the past year or so, perhaps he got tired of everyone dunking on him. Better late than never.
Joey gave Metallica a fresh sound and it sounds incredible. RIP.
@@xIcarus227 Lars is adequate for Metallica. Their music isn't Dream Theater. It's simplistic thrash. Barely maintain tempo? Umm it's perfectly fine. He often plays on the back beat. Amateurs and the clueless call it losing tempo or fucking up. He plays to a riff rather than trying to control a riff. Tommy Lee is the same. Lars is respected by a lot of other drummers who actually have a clue. The weakness in the band to me is Kirk. Messes up way too much. Even the beginning of Nothing Else Matters which can be played with no fret input. C'mon man..
The best drummer in the history of Metallica
Followed closely by the great Dave Lombardo.
Can you imagine the huge smile on joey’s face under that mask ear to ear grin. You are sorely missed Joey
Kirk said in an interview that he saw him crying tears of joy. He must have been so happy there
@@DrEagle1776that makes me wanna cry
It's like Joey dreamed of this moment since he picked up his first drum sticks and did not disappoint!
You have terrible ears. Joey is awesome but this performance was not good at all, and that’s a fact.
it's because before Slipknot he was in a Metallica cover band
FACTS
joey was a lars fun
@@alex8449 I know a lot about Joey's bands and have never heard about a 'Metallica cover band'. What was the name?
Corey said that Joey was so nervous before and after this show, when he was backstage he kept asking Corey “Was that alright?? How am I doing??”
Of course he killed it. Love hearing that little Slipknot flare in a Metallica song.
RIP Joey ❤️🤘❤️
Puts such a smile on my face to know this. I know he loved Metallica but man... He found them truly sacred if he was constantly worried about his performance. He play this so we'll. Even a different kit set up didn't slow him down a step! The respect I have for Joey continues to grow! I truly with I got to meet and see him play just once... :3
@@vkermodekumav8949 Yup 😁 That interview is flying around somewhere on the interwebs.
And Joey being able to play on a totally different kit is the sign of great musician.
I remember that gig, he was nervous, he kept looking around as if he was close to losing his place. True courage to step up with an act you are so underprepared for in front of such a huge crowd.
Slipknot fired Joey over phone they’re sell out cowards
@@matthewcunningham1190 dude, with all due respect. Please shut the fuck up. Lol they had trouble, yeah. But we all do. They were all cool in the end and still were very close like brothers. You where are on the outside have no fucking clue besides what you were told on the Internet about what happened. Again, Shut the fuck up with your empty ass hatred for things you THINK you understand.
I think Joey's extra double bass fills are more out of excitement of just doing his dream gig
Agreed
Yes. That happens.
@@shawnbruce6934what's one song when you play you always do that during?
Joey jordison, metallica's best drummer. RIP
"Make lars hear you!"
This is the best creeping death cover version i've ever heard. RIP Joey
Ironically, that was the wrong to say.
@@jaymann5180lol
@@jaymann5180 pretty sure he said it because Lars had to be absent that night due to personal issues. He meant "scream the words so loud that even Lars can hear".
@@zack_420 And what words were they?
@@jaymann5180the words of the song jackass
James: “Make Lars hear you give us your best”
Crowd: DIE!! DIE!! DIE!!
I guess they were thinking about St Anger
jaja solo vine a buscar este comentario... by The Beatles!!?
My little Danish friend
Hahahahahahahahah😂😂😂😂
Bro I literally laughed out loud LMAO HAHAHAHAH
You can tell Joey had played Creeping Death before. He puts his own little touch on it. When he was called upon, he was ready.
True story, he was in a metallica cover band in HS. He played a lot of these songs in this concert and Dave Lombardo played a few too. Lars was sick that night and thankfully those 2 filled in.
@@davidstockdale4187
Sick? I guess claiming panic attacks and nerves is now illness?
@@SonOfNone it's better that he didn't play rather than come and play and in that messed up state butcher the whole show.
Respect to Lars ......but this was sooooooo GOOOOOD .........RIP Joey
Joey is awesome but this was a terrible performance dude
@Ibanez527 It wasn't a terrible performance. It's a terrible audio mix. You can barely hear the drums in it.
He did just fine. Especially since he just did over an hour with Slipknot right before this. Double duty, back to back.
The drums really don't fit well with the guitar this way. Basically drums and guitar are there to balance eachother out, not compete with eachother (all the double bass and unneccesary fills). It doesn't fit Metallica. He's a good drummer though, just not a fit for Metallica
@@Ibanez527 na, this is cool
It is one of Joey's favorite bands if not his favorite and he was nervous as hell performing with them.
I love how at 2:58 after joey hits that tom fill mid solo, james looks at him and smiles like " yea lars can take his time coming back " lol
Looks like his thinking: So good have a real drummer
3:03 that sweet smile James gives Joey after his amazing drum fill is such an amazing moment. Rest in Peace, Joey. We miss you so much.
Someone who can actually keep up with one of the best rhythm players ever, must've felt great for james, i feel like i can't help but feel like lars depletes from their live sound so much..
Forever in our hearts joey you will always be missed and remembered
😢😢😢😢 so young to
Amen.Ledgend .
There he goes ladies and germs.
The greatest drummer to ever do it
Pump the breaks 😂😅 he's not even close to that.
@@preston2636You have no idea what Joey did for metal drumming lol ...NO IDEA.
He was doing things never heard of before and shaped metal drumming to what you hear today. Any drummer, worth a stick of f*** will tell you that.
So kindly f off npc and take your 0 knowledge with you.
@@preston2636let him say what he wants that's his opinion you moron. Ur not even remotely close to that kind of talent yet you still fcking yap your mouth. Shut ur ass up.
@@preston2636keep failing at buckethead songs and you chose the easiest song and still failed😂
When you overqualified for the job lol.
RIP Joey, fantastic musician.
That drum kit deserves a cigarette after that night
Probably the greatest drum fill in ever ...he was so on point ...never missed a beat ...
Да только из за быстрого встпуления,все сбились))в остальном хорош.
DAMN! Miss you Joey!!!! Giving Creeping Death the respect it deserved!!! LOVE THIS!!!!!
Joey did an awesome job but his being Lars his drum kit sucked in the late 90's 2000's
И я его обожаю
It's still wild to watch one mans dream comes true. The funny part is Hetfield choosing comical part to yell "We need more, come on! Make Lars hear you, give us your best!" as audience is singing "Die, Die, Die!" 😂
Joey makes it easy as fuck
For one this song is easy, and two joey is awesome but this was not good….
You're right. It was flawless
Cos Slipknot songs are harder on drums.
the only day in history where metallica owes a drummer
kirk sounded on fire that night
Yeah he fucking blitzed the solo
He was great
This is sick. Saw Slipknot on the IOWA tour. Insanity. Truly one of the greats. RIP.
Same here! I saw them in Madrid. Dont remember the year... maybe 2002? Awesome
I've heard the stories of Joey being nervous. but as a drummer who was influenced a lot by Joey's drumming, you can tell he's nervous here. but he's an absolute legend for powering through and getting to play for Metallica!
This was Joey's happiest day of his life, playing with his childhood heroes.
He knew all of the songs because he learned to play drums with their records and played in a Metallica tribute band before he got in Slipknot.
A man living his dream, good for him. Rip Joey
Metallica is my favorite band but Slipknot is a close second and Joey is absolutely my favorite drummer. Seeing this puts a huge smile on my face. RIP brother you are severely missed 💔
Absolutely killer performance by the very missed Joey Jordison. R.I.P .
Joey is such a legend man
As i grow older.. Clips like these fills me with so much joy :D Such a cool moment for Joey.. He killed it! Rest easy big guy!
Watching his dreams come true .... this is beautiful
Joey we miss you so much 🖤🖤🖤
so this is what metallica sounds like with a good drummer.
Okay Bot🤣

Joey was nothing but amazing! He crushed this! Rest well
So happy I got to see Joey play live twice. Hands down the best drummer ever. Rest in Peace to the legend that is Joey Jordison.
Joey Jordison was my hero as a kid, he was the reason I wanted to be a drummer seeing him live was a dream come true and it was crushing to hear of his passing. Rest in peace Joey, you'll be missed and thanks for all you taught me by watching all of these videos growing up.
Wow no words definitely one of the best drummers in the world....
RIP Joey
I can't love this more! Was a dream for Joey. How awesome! RIP Legend...
Lombardo crushed it too, both filling in in the whim, no practice, they just knew what to do
Creeping death actually getting the respect it deserves!
That's smile of James after 2:57 LOL
Joey Jordison was one of my favorite drummers. I'm glad we were able to enjoy his contributions to metal his short time here on the earth. RIP 🤘💀🤘
This show was so damn good, my first festival, excited to see Metallica, gutted when they came out and said Lars was ill then they brought out Dave Lombardo and Joey, absolutely amazing night, stuff of legends. Joey truly left his mark on the metal community, he is missed by all
Im am one of the biggest Lars fans.... he is literally the reason I statered playing drums as a teenager..... and I'm some what of a slipknot fan.... but hey... gotta give credit where it is due and Joey did an amazing job filling in for them that night! 💯Respect brother rip 🙏
LOL the internet found the one Lars fan HAHAHAHAHA. Good for you man

The only drummer I love. I could see him playing during hours. Rip Joey.
Two words, Danny Carey
During which hours? He’s ok, I guess… but google “drummers” and there will be pages of better drummers lol. This was good though.

Yeah I m sure there are many better and I know some of them. But this guy had a special thing to me. The kind of hypnotic vibe thing that Kurt Cobain had or Layne Staley had. Hard to explain with words ;)
@@romu7999 like, an over rated type vibe? I feel that lol
That was sick as. The song took on a whole new meaning what a talented artist he was. Props to you joey

He was so proud that day Corey Taylor have said. Legendary

Best ever version of Creeping Death
im glad this is recorded, damn that drum fill so awsome
He killed it ! Amazing moment ! Huge respect for Joey Jordison as a MetallicA fan ! True "Hero Of the Day", my man !
My favorite Metallica song and off probably their best album with one of the best drummers of all time.
simply epic! thanks for everything number 1.
This recording is Legendary... Joey and kirk were so on point! Those drumming fills were awesome and kirk solo was fire! The stuff of legends
What a performance, effortless and just pure enjoyment.
RIP Joey definitely one of the greatest drummers to walk Gods earth 🤟🏻 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
best song, best band, best drummer, best performance, thank you

It brought tears to my eyes to see you play with a band I love so much and on whose music I grew up. You killed it.

Joey made Lars a memory. Lars’s insecurities went to an all time high after me missed this show. A regret he will have for life. RIP Skin Master.
I bet he's kinda nervous , and it's Joey's style , intense RIP man
Bro was 100% shitting bricks the whole way through that song. Anyone would.
Man he really knows these songs
And without prior rehearsals, great Joey 🥁🎼🎸
The day Joey ate Lars’ lunch.. 🤘🔥🤘
💯
The day that Creeping Death was played at the right tempo*
💯
Joey is overrated
@@Steven-bz1bz that’s hilarious, I don’t see any videos of you on your channel drumming
I hope Corey and Shawn remember how dirty they did to Joey and regret it for the rest of their fucking lives.
Slipknot was almost done when Paul died but was buried after firing Joey.
R. I. P. NO 1 + 2
Love Joey's lightning speed techniques 👊🏾💪🏾💥
Very refreshing! Go Joey!
Joey was the best drummer of Metallica 😅
I’m honestly still in awe with Jeoy’s playing ability. The way he keeps his upper body stationary while his feet are hitting 16th note double pedal strokes is IMPRESSIVE. It doesn’t even look he is using the pedals.
God rest your soul Joey! He put life back into these songs he played on!
No possible miss with this machine , love you forever bro , in metal lovers heart
I will never forget that day RIP joey 🤘
“So thats what a real drummer feels like”
-james probably
THE BEST DRUMMER IN THE HISTORY!!!!
RIP JOEY
I'll never forget seeing this and being there!
It was a long time ago now and fussy for me.
3:55 They said they wanted someone who plays with fingers because they don't want that sound anymore (Jason's pick attack).
He sounds exactly like he plays with a pick😆
I always disliked Rob's bass tone and attack
@@jabolosdex1041 Me too cheers
@@jabolosdex1041 It really makes the albums sound soft, IMO. He just doesn’t lock in with James like Jason did.

How tha fuck is possible that this guy is better than Lars on Lars own band ??? Fucking Monster !!!
Não é difícil ser melhor que o Lars kkkkkkkk
Joey #1 forever 🤟
Such a drummer❤ RIP BROTHER❤
This gives me goose bumps.....
I’ve seen this video 5 times since discovering it a month ago. Why do I get choked up? Is it because it would have been my childhood dream? Did Joey represent all kids that grew up listening to this music and being influenced by it? Is it that Joey is gone, but music lives on because of his contribution? I can’t put my finger on my emotional reaction, but I feel great having watched this
Same here.. I get emotional watching this.
I only clicked on this for Joey...
4:53...I can only guess that Jordison was playing more to the original version/timing versus the "adapted" version that's evolved over the years.
4:39 Kirk came in after James and fugged it up.
