Found the old playlist for the Weekly Talks that I used to do earlier ruclips.net/p/PLtIc4giS3RKNVKfKyreTii5Qq8NNIol6y BTW do let me know what you feel about these kinds of videos, should I occasionally continue to post these kinds of videos?
Your biggest mistake was interviewing Guruji 5 years ago where you stepped down to a lower pedestal and gave all the limelight to such a malicious guy who eventually ruined the tech community. Youth today is influenced by such selfish, dishonest and materialistic influencers because their intentions were not challenged in time by the people who had the power to do so rather almost everyone wanted to be friends with the kid with the fancy toys. I have always admired your honesty and sincerity, it feels sad that people today dont understand the value of the gold which you can provide them all because they are blinded by the bling.
Bro, you could never be more right. It's a shame to see many samples who make a mockery of the tech review community while on the other side we have GeekyRanjit with the truth and completely honest views.
Thank you so much sir I am a 18 year old boy who was demanding an iPhone 13 pro max from his dad but today after watching your video i realised that it's not my need instead it's my want and i dont want to fullfill my want from my dad's money so thank you for showing correct path and opening eyes of many youngsters
Yes. I agree with you. Go for the product which you can buy by paying all at once. Because of that one product, if you have to compromise on other things then that product is not worth it.
This quote from Fightclub has saved me a lot of money: We buy things we don't need. With money we don't have. To impress people we don't like! Thank you for making this candid video. I am glad that you refused to endorse the partnership with the credit card company. Yes, you could have earned lakhs there. But you kept your principles above all. And now, you are earning the trust of lakhs of subscribers. I am among the people who always go through your opinion before buying a phone!
As a 20 year old kid, this video deeply resonated with me and was an epiphany for me. You could say it opened my eyes. It's true, my friends are getting latest and greatest smartphones and laptops, bike and even some of them have cars. For the note, I'm lucky to be born in a well to do family so I also have this stuff but there is a desire to get the latest shiniest stuff on the market. And I think this will help me manage funds much better in the future and save me and others who listened to you carefully from debt traps from this experience you shared❤️. I have a request, can you make a video on money management and savings?
When youtubers (influencers) are generally influencing you to buy what you desire, here is someone actually looking out for your benefit. Never thought I would watch the whole video - kudos sir for the thoughtful content toward your subscribers!!
In short, jitna chaadar hai utna hi pair failao. If not today, tomorrow you will have the money to fulfill your dreams.... work hard fulfill your necessities and then fulfill your dreams. I can totally relate to this story... I was roaming around in my mid twenties looking for a job with only a diploma in my hand, because that was the maximum my family could afford at that time. Now, I'm 49, and I have much more experience in the automotive sector than anyone else. Ab mere paas gaadi hai, ghar hai, Maa bhi hai... all because of MY hardwork and spending wisely. From assembling engines to becoming the GM of the same company in which I slogged day and night, I have come a long way and I'm in tears when I recollect this... from a small house without curtains in Kolkata, I'm in a 4BHK house in Chennai. From borrowing a bike from my cousin for a day to driving my own Compass, I have come a long way. And yes, I have fortunately followed all the things you have mentioned in your video... Even if this video doesn't get the reach it deserves(hopefully it does get the reach) it'll always be close to my heart and motivate me to work harder and spend smarter. I still drive my old CT100 which I bought when I came to Chennai back in 2004... it motivates me to continue the grind.
That's a very good advice, I personally prefer to buy on EMI only if I have the full amount for outright purchase. I go with EMI only if I am getting any additional offers/ discounts/ freebies, etc.
Agreed. When you can afford a product outright and still see offers or no cost EMI option, why not go for it. But you should also ensure that you invest your amount elsewhere to gain returns. Else, with inflation, the value of that money goes down.
I recently watched a few of your old weekly talks!! related to starting work early and others...I really enjoyed them, now soo happy to see this kind of video again..please continue this series...😇
Although you're younger than me, But the advice you gave today was simply eye opening for everyone. Take a bow my friend may god bless you with good health and prosperity. 🙏🙌
Hello sir, thankyou for bringing this up. My father follows the exact same philosophy. And one benefit of you waiting for 4 ½ years for the BMW 3 series was that you got the newer G20 instead of the older F30. And yes we would like you to speak on such topics. Thankyou 😃
Really great to see such sort of videos, really appreciate your honesty and that’s the only reason why I always wait for your review before buying anything . Cheers to one of the most honest and genuine tech expert🥂
Right on point. What I plan on doing is, instead of buying a phone on EMI, I ll buy a phone I can afford, and then immediately start investing in an SIP of about 1k per month only for phone. The phone should easily last around 2 years, which means I ll have atleast 24k(even more if you include compounding) after two years due to this SIP. Then I ll have sufficient money to buy a new phone with this money. Repeat. I read this strategy on a nice personal finance article. You'll also have the motivation to keep using your phone as you can buy a better phone if you use the current phone for longer time. Is your dream phone 5k more than your funds? Easy, just use your current phone for 5 more months and you can afford it.
Ranjit sir I've been following you since 2012 i guess, and since then I've always felt that you've been really genuine and clear. After watching this video I realised those small mistakes I made early in my career taking up small emi's and have actually corrected myself in the course time. But again this video today was something that was needed from you and I believe you sharing your life experience and how soo many people out there relating to this and also learning from this adds to your genuineness!
I didn't even know when the video ended, a really helpful video for me as a youngster and thanks for understanding the difference b/w DESIRE & NECESSITY also about EMI & LOANS . Really want such kind of more videos. My Favorite line: "Control your Desire , it will be helpful further in making other decision". Thanks Sir 🙏
Always been an avid follower of yours since the early days, and continue to be so. Your humility, honesty, and simplicity in the content you create are what I am inspired by the most. Thank you so much for inspiring an entire generation.
its been 6 years since i started watching ur videos sir, You are one of rare persons who talks very honesty and true reality which is rare now a days. Keep going sir. :)
Hello sir. Being a doctor I can relate to the discussions which u make is absolutely practical. That’s how life goes, we never know how life is gonna surprise is in terms of natural calamities or situations like these which needs funds to support us. Postponing the gratification is always a way forward in the future.😊😊😊
I totally agree and follow the delayed gratification method every time my brain falls in love with a costly gadget or vehicle. It has helped me in a lot instances. After delaying it, i always end up realizing that i don't really need it after all. One doubt or suggestion i have is, if i can afford the full amount with me, why can't I still go for loan, you do end up paying the interest , but then over the duration the amount's value reduces and would be negligible. Also, if you put that bulk amount in a good low risk fund or share, you get that added benefit as well.
If you uninstall shopping apps it can also save some bucks... Install it when u want to shop and aftr shopping uninstall app... Loved your blogs sir... Frankly ple take it in positive way, it is much better than review vdos... You speak your heart in blogs.... Love your blogs sir
To be frank I don't have any shopping apps on my smartphone! I just use the website when I need to shop.... hate installing those apps on smartphones keep sending necessary stuff notifications.
I have been following you since I was a 6th grader (lol) in 2014. It all started when I had to suggest my mom for her first smartphone and I stumbled on your Moto E video, and now I am about to buy my first bike in a few months! Really loved and inspired by the clarity of thoughts on expenditure, like a wise uncle sharing his experience and knowledge. Respect you a lot sir!
Thankyou for sharing your valuable life experiences with us. This helps a lot of people especially students like me who have a desire to buy fancy things. My father also teaches me the same thing you are sharing with us and he also follows the same principle of buying things upfront rather than on loans. This type of valuable experiences will help to shape our careers in a positive manner rather than piling loans on ourselves. Happy to see your videos since 4 years. Kudos to you for sharing vital information rather than run for money/ views on youtube.
these are not just weekly talks these are experience and wisdom he gain over past 26 year .we would love to see these kind of vedio more, thank you for sharing
Agreed with you and I also follow the same. I bought my car after I saved all the amount. I did not take a single rupee in loan. There is no end to desires, it keeps growing. So, we have to keep in mind what we need and what we want. You really passed on a very good message on this video.
I generally don’t comment on RUclips videos, but I couldn’t stop commenting on this one. I’ve been following you even before we had these big phones to watch RUclips videos. All these years, I’ve never seen anyone so successful yet so humble. And maybe this is the sole reason why you have become so successful over the years. I’ve seen people running after sponsors and changing their content type just because of money, but you stayed the same. Never sugarcoated any brand, just went straight with whatever you feel. I remember, you posted a QnA on phone buying, and you said the same thing back then as well. May you grow and achieve more success in life!
Thanks for enriching everyone with your thoughts. I hope people that are/going to earn good salary learn how to manage your desires and finance, especially the people who themselves or their family has not seen such huge salaries. Our schools don't teach us how to keep away from this extortion racket from the system. Thanks again!
It's nice to see a youtuber putting personal interest aside and giving valuable advice to his followers... simply loved your video.. Completely agree with your point of view on wants and needs!!
Just like my dad... My dad always used to say and even says this particular thing till date cuz he had a similar Young-Adult age experience like yours. At first when i was 14 i used to refuse it and spend all ma pocket money (at least a 1000 in a week). Literally. Am 17 now and I realized the truth the hard way around when my dad's business started to see it's downfall cuz of this pandemic that has been going around for a while. But aye, better late than never. Be wise with your money. Huge respect Ranjit sir!
I am studying finance and I totally agree with you on most of the points you make , spending on gadgets by taking loans unless you absolutely need it for work is stupid. But I believe you can take loans for buying expensive stuff if you can by it without the loan in cash and you have opportunities to invest that cash in places that will generate more return than the interest you pay on the loan and remember loan interest is tax deductible. Just remember guys loans is a high risk high return strategy . Analogy time : Operating without loans is like driving at 25km/h you will not reach you destination quick but will probably be safe and if something untoward does happen it will be minor . Operating with loans is like driving at a 100km/h ( increase or decrease the speed according to your liking depending on the amount of loan) you will reach fast , its riskier , higher chance of accident and if there is an accident it will be severe
Thankyou so much for this. I had a friend who said that buying expensive nike shoes was cool and I could not for the life of me understand such an approach to life. Thanks a ton buddy.
Yes you should do these type of videos. Next video should be about all the streams u tried till now to earn and what's ur mindset like... Apart from running a tech RUclips channel.. been watching u since 2017 and I absolutely love ur videos. Now I'm almost sure of my tech purchases that it's the best value for money.. just because of you.
(old viewer) You need to make more videos on topics like these. I am still using realme 1 (purchased after watching your review) because it's still working well. Last year my friends for saying to me to buy a new phone and I could have purchased it in cash because luckily I am doing internships and since I was 18 (22 now) but I learned digital marketing instead of buying a phone and god I am happy with my decision. After the course ended I got a job even before graduating and that added 1 year of experience in my academic profile and I have a (touchwood) good portfolio of stocks now because I did sips. planning to make my profile even stronger for good-paying jobs and high-ranked universities for MBA. (phone is still working fine) 🙂.
Even i have Realme 1....lags sometimes in heavy tasks but overall still works like a champ. Maybe because this was the first phone of realme and they wanted it to be good but I don't think so I can expect the same from today's realme smartphones.
I bought Redmi Note 4 in 2017 I felt the want of new device in 2019 because of the PUBGM hype at that time but I suppressed Now it's been 5 and half+ years and this device is still going strong. I'm soo happy I found the world of custom ROMs. It really makes devices live forever and appreciate it even more than the OEM software.
I agree with all points but a small addition. Think about this, having a ktm duke 200 at 25Yr(on emi) vs a Hayabusa at 40y. We cant 'enjoy' as much at 40... but this can't be applied for all items...1 or 2 items are ok...after all we need to 'live life'
I seen other moto vloggers make video on how i brought this Motorcycle and how much is emi. All kinda of title to lure kids and adults gets into this impression and buy those flashy ktm or any other bike on loan and spend all money on that extra interest. But you are the one who gave true advice. Which no buddy gives. It has to be learnt by own experience.
I'm going to enter my first job in a few months (fingers crossed). And i already feel so tempted to buy these expensive things. But it's really your videos (you've talked about this in the past as well) that are keeping me grounded. What you are saying makes a lot of sense. It's very tempted to get carried away but it's a dangerous road to walk down. Also, i really appreciate you not taking the HDFC deal. Very few people would have the integrity to turn down that offer. Highly respect you for it
Very true , I think this information should reach a lot of people these days. i have first hand experience similar to your civic times, really happy to see someone touching this point because i feel its very important for anyone from the ages 18 & above to understand this so that they don't end up regretting few decisions what we have made thank you love your vlogs.
indeed the world is stuck in a debt trap.. excellent video sir, loved your thoughts and looking forward to more such videos on personal finance and investment
Hi Ranjit, Appreciate for bringing up the topic and educating your subscribers. These days youngsters get into trap of buying flashy things, just bcoz some random RUclipsr has told it's good.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I am someone who was also in loans and now I’m trying to come out and using the same formula of delayed gratification. It works!
What a guy!! These are the days where we see lots of youtubers show off their purchases and tempt us . But Ranjit sir you did show your expensive purchases and still gave such a good responsible talk .
Yes...it's true ... I've my lenovo A7000 mobile(2014)...still running great... I'm differentiated between necessity and want... your absolutely right...as a consumer you should be wise.
Totally agree with you sir, people especially teenage student should learn to make distinction between wants and necessity. Few months ago I came across an instagram reel where it said that you should only buy a particular product of your desire if its value is less than or equal to 10% of total money you have.
@geekyranjit you are simply different youtuber. I have been following you since 10+ years, over the years my father got an idea about you and now he respects you and your thoughts about gadgets and money. He is 59 and me 27 and we both respect you!
In FinTech industry, we are pushing to make BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) available to younger and younger people now. It's crazy how trapping people in debt is now an entire industry. I really wish there was something that could be done about this. The rule to follow is simple - if the cost is less than 50% of your monthly take home, then you should buy it. As Ranjit sir said at 6:16 . Only buy if you can pay upfront. In my frank opinion, the only thing you should ever take a loan for is a home. This is such an important topic too. Thanks for the coverage!
Now that's what an influencer should be .. the one who influences you to take right decision, to move in a right way in your life.. a great video to watch if wanna make some big financial decisions... Not like other influencers, those who make videos based on what sponsors say
On the serious side, you have listed some really important key points regarding personal finance! On the funnier side, I felt like I am watch some Economics lecture :))
Absolutely agree. Our education system does not prepare us to handle money once we start earning. And buying anything on EMI is easy. This video is very much the need of the hour. I personally also make big purchases only when I am in a position to buy with full down payment.
Please make these kind of videos, they are really motivation , i think the views you are expecting are simply not there but the people who just clicked this video watched it till end and found it heart touching ,so please make these kinds of videos
Sir please make more videos like this. I felt this video to be a father like advice given to me. Very few RUclipsrs are there who give such genuine advice to their audience and I am thankful that I follow you. Always an inspiration. Please make more such videos.
Thank you Sir. I was about to make a bad financial decision today and accidentally came upon this video. This was an eye opener. You have a new subscriber. ❤️

yes why not
Sir what about buying laptop on emi.

AND have the guts to say out loud WHAT'S RIGHT.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
💯
These videos were gold, especially from a rich and honest guy.
Thankyou so much for this. I had a friend who said that buying expensive nike shoes was cool and I could not for the life of me understand such an approach to life. Thanks a ton buddy.
Ahh!! Finally weekly talks are back, remember you doing them on your roof!!💯
Continue this series weekly. It's needed
I bought Redmi Note 4 in 2017
I felt the want of new device in 2019 because of the PUBGM hype at that time but I suppressed
Now it's been 5 and half+ years and this device is still going strong.
I'm soo happy I found the world of custom ROMs.
It really makes devices live forever and appreciate it even more than the OEM software.
I agree with all points but a small addition.
Think about this, having a ktm duke 200 at 25Yr(on emi) vs a Hayabusa at 40y. We cant 'enjoy' as much at 40... but this can't be applied for all items...1 or 2 items are ok...after all we need to 'live life'
Very valuable lesson from the OG Indian youtuber. When I started watching RUclips a decade back, you were true and honest, still going good.
Highly respect you for it
India me Financial education k naam pe to kuch hai hi nhi...Thanks! for sharing. 😍
OH woow! Such a great advice to all the youngster and even to elder ones. We need this kind of videos for sure sir!!!!!!!!
Glad you made this video sir! as a 17 year old starting to earn money didn't knew how to manage money. Very helpful.
He is tech guy or what, such a life lessons, kudos to you man Appreciated.
These are one of your best videos even better than the main channel content you sound like an elder brother I never had
Hi Ranjit,
Appreciate for bringing up the topic and educating your subscribers.
These days youngsters get into trap of buying flashy things, just bcoz some random RUclipsr has told it's good.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I am someone who was also in loans and now I’m trying to come out and using the same formula of delayed gratification. It works!
Yes sir! Please do more of such videos as well! Loving you work!
What a guy!! These are the days where we see lots of youtubers show off their purchases and tempt us . But Ranjit sir you did show your expensive purchases and still gave such a good responsible talk .
thank you so much for making this video. very important for today's youth. please keep making these types of tips/guidance videos and weekly talks.
That's a million dollar advice brother...I do use credit card mainly for my shopping ,that actually help me control my monthly expenses
I've seen a lot of want vs need videos, but this is hands down the best one.....!!!! Thank you.
I was planning to buy an expensive phone.Just needed this piece of advice. The clarity btw Desire/ Necessity was an lesson I learnt today.
Yes...it's true ... I've my lenovo A7000 mobile(2014)...still running great... I'm differentiated between necessity and want... your absolutely right...as a consumer you should be wise.
I think Mr. Ranjit has extremely honest opinion on the buying hype recently created. I found his advice really helpful to control my buying urge.
Totally agree with you sir, people especially teenage student should learn to make distinction between wants and necessity. Few months ago I came across an instagram reel where it said that you should only buy a particular product of your desire if its value is less than or equal to 10% of total money you have.
Thing with debt is "People end up buying stuff they don't need with the money they don't have"
@geekyranjit you are simply different youtuber.
I have been following you since 10+ years, over the years my father got an idea about you and now he respects you and your thoughts about gadgets and money. He is 59 and me 27 and we both respect you!
Your statement on Wants vs Necessities was totally on point. Great, great video. You are the kind of influencer youth should get inspired from.
Really appreciate your words of wisdom and high level of ethics.
This is what i admire about this person . So much practical man.
Truly an honest and solid source of motivation for the millenials, I have no words to describe your knowledge and wisdom sir.
I have seen people who earn less than 30k per month buying those crazy expensive phones on emi.
Excellent video, Ranjnit!
The lesson I got from this video is immeasurable. Thanks for this piece of knowledge.
It's great somebody is taking the initiative to talk about the right way to use money...
Absolutely agree. Our education system does not prepare us to handle money once we start earning. And buying anything on EMI is easy. This video is very much the need of the hour. I personally also make big purchases only when I am in a position to buy with full down payment.
Great thoughts as always
keep doing these kind of videos sir. very inspiring and helpful to young generation. This video completely changed my perception.
Feeling amazed to be a part of Ranjith sir youtube family. The lessons and values shared is very heart touching and sure will follow the same sir🙏🏻
Please make these kind of videos, they are really motivation , i think the views you are expecting are simply not there but the people who just clicked this video watched it till end and found it heart touching ,so please make these kinds of videos
Thanks for this advice as starting my SDE journey I will follow this
I'm saving this video and will watch it every day.
Even if I don't need any advice I'll always watch these videos of yours which are really insightful. Thank you 🙌🏻
Your honesty is your USP.
Sir please make more videos like this. I felt this video to be a father like advice given to me. Very few RUclipsrs are there who give such genuine advice to their audience and I am thankful that I follow you. Always an inspiration. Please make more such videos.
I fully agree with you and salute to denying what you don't like HDFC sponcer ship.
Wow sir! That gave a lot of insights. And would love to see more.
Thank you Sir. I was about to make a bad financial decision today and accidentally came upon this video. This was an eye opener. You have a new subscriber. ❤️
Thank you for sharing these kind of life experiences, it helps a lot of folks. Please keep sharing your life experiences…
Sir I am Watching your Videos from last 12 year's, I really appreciate your ethics, special in this field where some tech channel just run towards Money & Sponsor, this dialog is quite fit for my word's...."You Earned my Respect"
Highly appreciate your thoughts. You reflected the same thoughts as my parent. Great to see this kind of videos. Keep it up.
Missed this old weekly talks😊
You have helped me a lot in delaying gratification! Thank you.
