- Today, I wanted to talk about how Elden Ring as well as the Dark Souls series changed my life forever. The souls series along with Bloodborne and Sekiro gave me the passion I was looking for when I was in a bad situation. Elden Ring came out earlier this year and inspired me to start this RUclips channel, allowing me to quit my job and live a fulfilling life. Thank you, FromSoftware.

0:43 thank you :)...
i was recently let go from my band with my two best friends without much explanation. they're continuing to actually find a lot of success very quickly: something that's incredibly rare for the music industry.
i've been feeling like shit because that band was my whole life. i'm not an amazing student but Moving Boxes (the band lol) gave me an outlet and made it see like maybe i'd actually do something with my life, but now i've felt worthless.
all this to say that i resonate with the "informed pessimism" thing. i know exactly how hard it is to start a band and even just sustain it, let alone grow it. what MoBo has going is pretty rare and it's discouraged me from even trying again.
like you said, you can't just force passion or inspiration but this video has given me newfound resolve. nothing in this world is given to you and you just gotta pick yourself up and forge through if you want something.
thank you Ember, this video genuinely inspired me and lifted my spirits a bit. you've made an impossible task seem slightly less impossible
❤
I came here from Asmongold's reaction video!
You’re the best
Keep it up man videos and topics are great, love the authenticity.
You really have a natural talent for RUclips, and I can't wait to see your channel grow. Your happiness is the most important thing to everyone who watches your videos, and we will always support you. Keep making art Ember, and don't you dare go hollow
U are the best for saying that. Thank you. I'll always be here trying to brighten someone's day :)
@@EmberPlays You can always play other Soulslike games like Surge 1 & 2, Nioh 1 & 2, Code Vein etc, if you feel you want to continue with them. Maybe sprinkle them along the videos you want to make. The community will mostly support in what you do.
Damn this was a really wholesome comment. But I wholeheartedly agree ;)
@@EmberPlays Second Damn, you really hearted that comment on a month old video that fast before I even finished half the vid? 😂 you’re awesome man. I just found your channel like a month ago and I can’t stop seeing your content popping up on my RUclips shorts. That’s how I discovered your channel too by the way. Don’t let the work get to you though man, glad to see you’re doing really good, and good luck in the future!
@@EmberPlays By the way, are you comfortable with saying anything about your “dream job”? I’ve kinda been searching for my “dream job” lately and I’m not really sure what that could be for me. I may even know of it already but I just don’t know that I would like it yet 🤷♂️
Dark souls and elden ring bring me happiness. They saved gaming for me
Same
Elden Ring isnt your typical awful 2014-2021 next generation game. As well as your average boring interactive mainstream ps4 walking/cutscene simulator movie-exclusive. Its a game the industry has needed for awhile now and came crashing through destroying absolutely everything. Back during release when I was about 20 hours in, I thought to myself "yup this is fucking it man." Best game of the decade alongside RDR2. It reminded me of old Xbox 360 games due to its quality and simplicity. No game like ER took me back like that. N I regret wasting my money throughout the years on games that flopped because of these next generation developers taking over and sabotaging our beloved AAA franchises. Too many broken promises throughout. ER showed the industry how a good game is made and I had waited forever for that moment to come. From Software forever!! Also am a huge GRRM fan.
Same, Elden Ring is probably one of the best games I've ever played in my life. Well, besides Monster Hunter World and Halo 2. Ah the memories!🥲
@@Slurpified lol 😂 it's overrated . ER is copy pasted game
I said this in a couple of videos already, my father passed away at relatively young age (54), I was devastated, I was grieving hard, at the time I was also expecting a second child as well as in my final year for my degree, I could not focus whatsoever but then I found Dark Souls PDE on sale on Steam. I bought it just to try it out and man the game changed my life forever, hell, look at my avatar and profile name, that tells you everything right there. I was always more of an arena fps or counter strike type player, but then I introduced myself to the SOULS games and the rest is history.
Playing through the challenges of Dark Souls helped alleviate the pain I was feeling at the time and also taught me that no matter how hard the challenge (a boss or a life changing event) you can always pull through.
Respect man 🙏
So sorry for your loss. I'm happy to hear you found a light in a tough time through these games and were able to come out ahead. Respect.
@@EmberPlays Thanks man, and keep up the good work.
Dude you’re inspiring me and I’m 45 I’m doing well have my business and my home but on the other hand my daughter is 23, I just left university and your story resonates with hers so I’ve sent this video to her and I hope she watches it until the end Thanks again Chris.
Hey Chris!! So glad to hear that, I hope it helps her!!!
this is a very motivating video elden ring brought me into a new light in my life when i was struggling wit depression but it always made me happy
Glad u could relate :)
@@EmberPlays ur welcome man and i love ur boss content so much bc it really help me understand how the different bosses are for someone who as only played ds3 sekiro bloodborne elden ring and ds it has given me insight thx u for that
Love how you just casually dropped the most raw edit of all time at 4:58
🤣🤣 thanks man
I love these more serious videos. Even though youtube isn't my dream, I still connect alot with what you are talking about and it seriously gives me inspiration for my own life. Thank you :D
Thank YOU!!!
First thing I gotta say is the editing is fire the transitions between the different games might go unnoticed but I SEENT it and I appreciate your finesse.
You sound like a great person who deserves the position that you are in. I'm really happy that you were able to land your dream job and stopped working at the one that made you miserable. And while I agree with your perspective on misinformed optimism/informed pessimism I think there are also people who are afraid of change and that in itself discourages challenge. No matter how old you are there is always something to learn and you just never know when you've plateau'd emotionally, mentally etc. I try not to think about things in absolutes because I just don't know what the future has in store, but as you said, understanding that patience can only reward you when you have taken the steps to facilitate your best outcomes is key. Then you just let time do its thing. Anytime I feel down in the dumps that I'm not seeing the results of my work, I remember that I have more today than I did yesterday. Me five years ago never thought that he would make it here. Every time I felt like there was a challenge insurmountable I eventually got over it only to be met with a new seemingly impossible challenge. Every new thing is going to feel the hardest thing you've ever done but so was every other problem you already overcame, and isn't this the essence of what makes Souls games appealing at their core? Rising to every new seemingly impossible challenge?
Aaron!!! Thank you man, I’m so happy you noticed the transitions as well ;) I agree with your points completely and I think we all need to be constantly trying to improve and learn. Thank you for the kind words man
Elden Ring is about teaching patience. And also, teaching about ambition! Defeating Radagon and looking back all the progress you've made is awesome! and the best part is you can replicate it in real life. Just trust yourself and aim to the sky! Intelligence with no ambition is like a bird with no wings - Salvador Dali
Agreed!!!!

That transission at 4:56 was hella clean
Thanks for noticing ;)
10:40 You have no idea how much I needed to hear this. All I’ve been hearing from people is that I need to achieve something “this way” or “that way” or that it’s “oversaturated.” It’s reassuring to hear something like this when everyone else wants to put you down and only sees your dream as a fucking hobby.
I’m not sure what caused this video to pop up on my feed. But I’ve tried streaming and RUclips every now and then, and never persisted. I’ve recently started again, and streamed some of my first Dark Souls playthrough. I only had one person talk to me that entire time, but the next day all I wanted to do was wake up and stream. Fast forward another week and I haven’t streamed since. Video games are the only passion in my life, but I don’t have a passion for sharing I guess. I’m struggling finding what my true passion is, and what I can do for the rest of my life. After watching this video though, you’ve inspired me to keep going. And I never connected the dots between my persistence in the souls game to real life, but you made it all make sense to me. I’m going to try recording more gameplay and doing something with it for real. Thanks man. This video might have just changed my life.. ❤
I found out about Elden ring and souls after a serious rejections by girls bro.
I can feel you.
I really admire you for the determination and patience you have in life after these games, I don't know how you can do it but I'm sure for lots of people you are a beautiful inspiration; I hope that all in life continues the best it can❤
Thank you :)
He can do it because he does everything perfectly and/or lies about hardahips, it will not happen for 99% of people...
@@dariojanjic402 I'm very slow at reasoning so I always forget there are two sides of the same coin. Yeah not for nearly anyone happens. Just for the ones who actually speak out and say the effect it has had
Love your content Ember. I have that fear of "jumping off" so to speak to start making videos.
Thanks :) and try it out!! U never know what could happen 👀
I started with Bloodborne back in 2019 at an already dark time in my life, and after much early rage, and learning how to git gud, and all that nomsense you heard thousand of other reddits explain, beat it, then started playing the main 3 Souls games, on a daily basis, something i hadn’t done in video games for a long, long time.
And after Elden Ring came out, i can safely say that 2022 was the best year i had in a long time, thank you Miyazaki for helping me get through such a treacherous and depressingly unfortunate point in my life
Found your channel last night, I went through a similar situation that led to me creating my own channel, it's incredible how sometimes one small decision can make such a big impact and change your life for the better. Super glad to have subscribed can't wait to see what you do next :)
Thank you so much!!! I'm happy u could relate. Keep killing it :)
I randomly found your channel a few months ago and loved your videos. Then after you released videos like this it was cool to see how relatable it is to my life. I actually really needed this video so thanks a lot!
Thank you for watching!!! I appreciate u
I honestly feel the same way, around when Elden Ring came out I decided to finally give souls games a try with Dark Souls 1, and while it’s not one of my favorites in the series anymore due to just issues with its age and playing games like Bloodborne, beating Dark Souls 1 was one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life, all I could think was “holy shit, I just beat DARK SOULS, this game that’s known for its difficulty, I BEAT IT” and I was so happy with myself. Ornstein and Smough specifically had such a huge impact on me and my self confidence, and they are probably my favorite moment in any game ever besides maybe Ludwig from Bloodborne (for different reasons because Ludwig is just objectively cool and is my pick for just the most fun boss to go back to in the series). Now, I’ve played and beaten 3 souls games with DS1, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, Bloodborne is now what I consider my favorite game of all time, and I will continue to play and love these games for multiple reasons. Thank you fromsoft for creating so many fond and great memories for so many of us :)
Love your vids I’ve said it like three times now but still your my favourite souls RUclipsr
I appreciate u as always 😭
I'm playing DS 2 for the first time and I never died so many times in a game like now. It definitely teach us much about persistence...
Like Schwarzenegger said: if you have a plan B you are not focusing on plan A and you expect to fail because you set up the safety net.
Plan B should be a way to make your plan A work.
@@EmberPlays yes indeed, I think he talked about his main goal and going all in, people asked what he would do if it would fail. But he made sure he got there no matter what.
these outros are my favorite lol i just started Sekiro and Elden ring my first time ever playing any souls game and they're hard but I'm glad I found your channel you've inspired me!
This is the video I needed! I started the channel I’m typing on right now 3 months ago and it’s been slowly growing but I’m still motivated and this video gave me that extra push to keep this thing going. I wish the best for you and good fortune ❤
Wow. I’m glad you found what you’ve been wanting to do. Good job and good luck on the RUclips channel. I’ll be here watching.
Thank you so much for the support :)
Soulsborn in general - it teach keep fighting regarding rough moments and nothing is hard once you put enough effort and thoughts to it 👍👍
Great channel, great content and considering i will never tire of Fromsoft videos, i'm here for the long run. Thank you for your videos. Have a nice day. :)
Ayeee thank u :) I really appreciate that and I'm glad you enjoy! Have a great day yourself!!
@@EmberPlays Thank you! :)
Dark Souls 1 inspired me to become a game developer. So yeah, can pretty much relate. Love the hell out of these games. Also love that it's brought so much good somehow to so many people. I also love that edit at 4:58 what the hell, wasn't expecting that
Ember has the best outros on RUclips
I started my channel back in 2018 and haven't seen the kibds of returns you have. Believe me, you're doing something right.
Thank you ⚔️ I did a lot of studying on growing a RUclips channel
I dont know how u have 70 k subs u deserve at least 1 mill

Your story is so inspiring thank you for this refreshing view
Thank you for watching!!!
Damn you got me again
A whole video that makes me think and then the outro that let me laugh every time
Hahaha thanks for watching :)
I was thinking of asking for Elden ring for my b day I 4 days and this video made me just so excited I wish I could just sleep for 3 days straight till its my birthday
Awesome video bro. I’m in the same place and finally decided to chase my dream. These games are a great reflection on life
Good stuff bro!! U got this!!!!
@@EmberPlays thanks man. Keep up the awesome work
The way you applied dark souls mechanics to real life might just be nerdy enough to kick my ass into gear with my own interests. Seriously though. Hearing you talk about this actually made me record something for the first time in years because that analogy worked so well for me. Thank you for that!
Let’s go!!! I love to hear that!!!!!
I've been watching Souls vids a whole lot these days, so thank you for even just making a quality ER vid. It's just nice to see someone's thoughts on a game that I felt was money worth spent.
Thank you :) glad u could relate!!
I usually associate shocking titles like that with clickbait but you really proved your point. I'm happy that you got your "dream job" and that you also have an amazing hobby that rewards and nourishes you in addition of your progression at your "real job". I totally agree with the patience thing, Elden Ring helped me learn patience, timing and perseverance: 3 qualities everyone should have! Congratulations on the fast growth🙌
This channel started as just a random shorts account i used to watch and move on. But the more I saw the more intrigued i got of your opinions and view of the series so I checked your longer videos. Safe to say they've hooked me and I am now excited anytime i see a notification with your name on it! Keep on doing what you love!
Aye thank you so much!!! And yes, I honestly had no idea what I was doing in the beginning I was just posting PVP clips lol. So happy u gave me a chance and enjoy the vids :) thank u for sticking w me
@@EmberPlays not knowing what you're doing is part of the greater journey, as I'm sure you know!
And thank you for providing great content. Sending love from Europe!
That isshin quote joke was the funniest part you deserve more subs.
Thank you, you are the first person to appreciate it 🤣
@@EmberPlays I remember when you were explaining how bad DS2 was the icing on the cake for me was that off-topic Xbox joke. Loved it keep it going
@@EmberPlays your jokes come out of nowhere and they are some of the best jokes. You don't do cringe puns but actual funny jokes relating to the topic
Talking about the struggle of elden ring.
Using rivers of blood

Sometimes it takes a punch to the face to really see what is going on am i right? That is what the Soulsborne(ring) series give to me at least. Continue when you seem powerless. Really love this series :D

Ahh, Majula peace 6:40
4:58 that looked sick
Thanks :)
I like you! You are really honest and pure.
Thank you!!! I try to be hahaha
You should do the saddest moments from each formsoft game
Despite a lot of people complain about ER, it accomplished to make great things a huuge environment storytelling that I had never seen in my life. And Its incredible that all bosses, main, mini bosses, repeated bosses, dual bosses and so on had a reason to be there, its like a archeology work sometimes, when you should deduce whats happening depending in what you see instead of what the game tells you, like others game in the franchise.
sweet story. Rly fun joke at the end. You're fairly fresh out of college and seem to have gotten some really important life knowledge this early. I wish you the best and hopefully your message will reach more people and help them out of misery.
Came here from Asmon, this. video. is. AMAZING! Thank you!
Thank YOU!!! I appreciate u coming by :)
ive been a souls fan for a long time but now as lockdown is over and i am invested in real life i just dont know what to do so i just sit and play games and study not having any plans for future
Try things out! See what interests you in your day to day life and try to make something of it
@@EmberPlays sure,thanks
This game reminds me of old school games where you keep dying and have to keep trying again, like mario, sonic on SNES and Mega drive
Thanks for sharing my boiii!!

True patience is hard work and perseverance! Love this video :D
Thanks for watching :)
Man I really like your advices :) so happy for you Ember! You worked hard for this and that’s the key to succeed in life 👌

You might say that streaming Fromsoft games and turning it into a job makes the experience... hollow. 🥁
Lol
I found this channel for a reason - that's all I can say. I'd love to do a call, but am pretty tight on money. Good luck with your journey and thanks for the wise words.
These vids are golden. This one in particular makes me wanna start content creation at some point, though idk when i'd get to that. But even more important, it's given me a different perspective on the souls series, as well as life in general. Thank you for these videos, you've lifted the spirits of many people.
Thank you so much 😭 glad I could help. I wish you luck!!!
I like you, dude. Solid messages and strong presentation. I'm glad things have been moving in the right direction. Even better days to come.
Thank you!!!
RUclips is exactly like a Souls Game. Be okay with failure and setbacks. Keep doing it. Get better and learn from it. Eventually Succeed.
...Also spam dodge.
So I got into from soft games around 3 years ago when I was going through a divorce and a crazy drug addiction to literally some of the worst drugs that u could do. I was thinking about getting clean but felt I lost everything and just stopped caring if I even lived or died. For some random reason I bought a ps4 one day cuz I remembered playing games as a kid and hoped it would help me stay busy so I wasn’t running the streets. I happened to go into GameStop to look for games and I saw sekiro and bought it. At first I was getting eaten alive and put it down to play something else but kept going back until it clicked. I had found something other than drugs that felt good to overcome. After i finally finished sekiro I went and got ds3 and man that was it!! I’m a little over 2 years sober and I dived into the from games and in my mind these games have given me something that I haven’t had in a long time which was passion for something other than drugs. I’ve beaten almost all of the soulsborne except ds2 cuz that’s the only one just didn’t fit for me. Waiting for elden ring was a long time coming and I haven’t played any other game than elden ring since the first day it released. I could not wait until it came out and like u said I hadn’t been so excited about anything in a long long time. Also got into beserk and that’s helped a lot as well. I’m sure someone is gonna read this and think I’m an idiot for thinking this helped as much as it did but in my mind it played a big part
Dude, that’s awesome!!! Congrats on getting clean and I’m so happy u can share the experience that changed all of us. It’s really awesome. Keep killin it in 2023!
Ngl I almost gave up on gaming last year, I finally decided to gave souls games a chance, I was never into RPG, I started with lords of the fallen and now played every Fromsoft's Souls Project except Sekiro and Demon souls and now Playing Elden Ring. This action RPG genre truly brought back my excitement in gaming 💯🔥
Yesss love to hear that!! It revived it for me too. Sekiro is my fav :)
The souls series, naruto and beserk did this for me, without those i never could've gotten as far as i did :) (despite still having a LOOOONNGG way ahead xd)
Me too. But we’re doing it!!
@@EmberPlays yeah it takes time, effort and resolve.. but we will get there... eventually :)
Wow. That was really inspiring. I wish I had passion for anything. This would have definitely spurred me on. Kudos dude. Massive kudos.
Thank u! Everyone has passion for something. U can find it. Just pay attention to the things you enjoy day to day and figure out ways u can work with that :)

@@EmberPlays Hey man I'm a new Souls player but I have already beaten the game 7 times with different builds, I did use spirit summons but I'm still proud of my achievements, I'm also kinda impatient so I didn't wanna spend days, weeks on one boss.

Really liking the channel. Awesome work. I love hearing these types of videos. Exactly the kind I like to do and would like to do more of if I could ever get myself motivated 😂
Thank u!!!! U got this :)
Anyone can say whatever they want but Elden Ring definitely changed my life. I was having severe health issues at the time, and all the games I loved were being ruined my micro transactions. It was a dark time for me, and the light I found in Elden Ring, which then led to Dark Souls and the latter, made me feel something I haven’t felt in a long time. To say it truly gave me the strength to wake up every day is an understatement. Thank you, Elden Ring.
motivating

Disagree about the part of glitching past draconic tree sent. I didn't personally, but like I had a much easier time with everything past him, up until Fire Giant.

I have to agree with the whole college experience you stuck in the place for years and after you get out you won’t get hired because you don’t have any experience, so how do you end up getting experience when no one hires you?
Ya it's a brutal cycle, which is why going out and DOING stuff is always the answer. Just do stuff and learn. That gives better experience than anything else imo
I thought gaming was dead until I played Elden Ring, I was seriously bored of every new release
