This video took a fat minute to write and edit, so as a small channel, the support really means so much to me ❤. A couple notes covering things I've seen come up in several comments: 1) The FromSoft portion of the video begins at 12:50. Dark Souls III specifically at 17:15. 2) I have revisited Bloodborne and am nearly done with my platinum run through. 3) I have logged some serious hours into MGSV and love the game, although I am still under the impression it shipped with a significant amount of missing content. Also PLEASE give me some feedback on what game you’d want to see covered in this essay style format. I’m currently thinking TLOUII?
Sekiro and Lies of Pinocchio are both worth of this format. LOP is smth between Bloodborne and Sekiro, best of both. And i'm happy that someone had a similar or almost the same story (experience) as me, meaning ER and then DS3. I've just googled more, so i wanted to to beat ER without summons and fancy weapons, wanted to beat game just with quality build and nothing fancy for first time. The guys on reddit and discord said magic and stuff was good for second playthrough, so that was my meta, to play it as basic dark souls. It was "little" harder, and took me 2x more time, like 120 hours to fully complete game, but all the time was 10x more worth it. Best achviement for me was killing Malenia with the "Let me solo her" style. It took me 2 weeks like 2-3 hours a day. But that satisfaction
Nearly beating an insane hard boss first try and then entering a downward spiral for hours or days is definitely one of the most rewarding and frustrating feature of ds3. Welcome brother to the club of nameless king beaters
@struggleryoutube I don't about him being a "breeze" tough guy, but I can't argue with the fact that midir is the hardest boss in the game possibly all the games including elden ring. I haven't actually fought him even once but his difficulty is the stuff of legend. Also haven't made it to gael either both of these look more difficult than nameless king for sure
@@struggleryoutube Nameless King took me 20 tries, Midir took me one. Level 107 I believe when I fought Midir. The true joy in Dark Souls is that we all have a different experience with different bosses. My build btw was STR Greatsword, a classic.
I wish I could experience Dark Souls III for the first time again. Exploring Untended Graves for the first time is my favorite moment in video game history.
@@overused6632 A couple minutes is certainly enough to judge any piece of media! And I say that as someone who, like you, suffered severe brain damage during a car accident.
For me it's Bloodborne. Reaching Yahar'gul Unseen Village for the first time was an unforgettable experience. Or discovering the Fishing Hamlet after beating Lady Maria in the DLC. Man, Miyazaki is a goddamn wizard. These aren't just games, they're works of art.
Beating Sekiro back then made me realize I had to go back and try the other FromSoft games and I started with DS3. What an awesome experience it was. Now I can't even enjoy casual games.
This is a feature I wish Elden Ring maintained. (covenants) It also motivates invading and assisting invasions something that means nothing in Elden Ring.
It was after watching the video and really loving it that I realized it didn't have thousands upon thousands of views! Which was shocking. Because you were great, the video you made was simply great. Excellent writing, excellent pacing, rewarding arc in the story you told, amazing insight into gaming history. But my favourite was the very clear and bold text sprawl towards the end. You inspired :) you did it
I'd like to echo that sentiment, you did a great job on the video and if you keep it up I don't see how you won't end up with a substantial amount of subs. I'm now one of them
I’m in full agreement. DS3 is by far my favorite game, and the journey I went on to complete it was incredibly altering for me on a personal level. Great video my dude.
Fights like your fight with the nameless king are where we got "git gud" from. It applies to many aspects of the souls games and it's pretty solid advice.
Could have followed a guide. The game can be finished with most content done in around 40-50 hours if you're good, then the ng rushed to get alternate endings, etc.
The feeling I get when playing this game (even in comparison to the rest of FromSoft's games) is indescribable! I have literally never experienced something like this in all my years of gaming! I love this game with all my heart! Keep up the great work!
You tell a compelling tale. I’ve struggled to explain what these games are like to people who don’t get it, and you hit on a lot of what goes through my head but I can’t quite nail down. Such a good video. Never heard of you, but subbed.
I am experiencing the same with Bloodborne. Any accomplishment I want, I have to put in the blood, sweat, and tears to obtain. Analyze the enemies I get stuck on an study their moves to find their patterns. With the lack of a shield or many ranged weapons, the only way forward is to be aggressive but not greedy. And most importantly, don’t be afraid to lose or fail. The gameplay is challenging yet also intoxicating, the story and lore are hidden yet also deep. This game is truly an awe inspiring experience.
I love that feeling in these kinds of games. When at the beginning you're like, "I don't think I can do this". And then after a few tries, you get the hang of more and more moves. You change from a passive mindset to a more active and aggressive one. Before you know it, you're at the final boss going "I know I can beat this."
I’m obsessed with DS3. I use to be just a FIFA & COD player. I arrogantly dismissed Dark Souls as unplayable and a waste of one’s time due to it’s difficultly. A friend of mine showed me the trailer which uses the song In The Woods Somewhere for Dark Souls 3 and the atmosphere and visuals really caught my attention. Once I tried it there was no turning back. This game changed my life.
I’ll definitely have to get back into it. I started playing it a couple years ago beat the second boss and just never got around to playing it again because of other things coming out or personal happenings. Thanks for making this video.
Not even gonna lie, this video brought a tear to eye with how introspective it made me feel. Dark souls is a series that will always be special for me, seeing that others can construe a message so similarly out of it is inspiring. Absolutely fantastic video man, excited to see more from you

Ghostrunner I & especially II encapsulates this perfectly. Another diamond in the rough with beautiful levels combined with story and fun mechanics instead of an unfinished open-word
I had a very similar formative experience the first time I put down the orphan of kos in bloodborne. Now I love that feeling of having to absolutely lock in when you hit a wall of a boss
Amazing video. Seriously. This also explains and outlines the exact same journey I took with the Souls genre. After playing previously when i was younger and quitting, I eventually bought Elden Ring and became obsessed with it. I am now about to go back and play DS III.
Legendary video. I admit, I clicked on this thinking," oh boy, another one. And here we go..." but actually, I felt this appraisal in my heart and soul.
It's been a while since I've experienced the feeling that's take you away from reality and into the gaming world I'm definitely going try Dark Souls 3 after I play Elden Ring thanks, brother 👍🏾
Whats an amazing style you have. I loved every second of your video . Will watch it few more times. Ds1 was my first souls game and now i am playing elden ring. Will pick up ds3 after this. Thanks for your video.

There’s two videos here. One about the state of gaming and how it declined which any day I would love and the other video being about the actual dark souls experience. I would send the second half to my friends, were it it’s own video. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Honestly really good video, despite some comments I really like the longer intro about modern gaming and agree with you fully. There are so many games that have changed my life, the likes of which being souls games, red dead, and undertale. I started playing games after a long time to get through a rough patch in life and what’s kinda sad is one of my happiest moments in life was beating the nameless king after 108 tries (really bad I know I had a crappy build) I was literally crying and barely breathing. DS3 has definitely had an impact in my life and how I approach problems and things I need to do. And holy crap Skyrim and GTA V were my first non Nintendo games ever and I’ve been a all platform gamer since, I just relate to you on everything you say. You put everything I’ve thought about dark souls 3 into words your a really good writer dude. I don’t know if this comment is coherent I’m very tired.
You couldn’t have felt more altered by the experience of platinuming Elden Ring in 65 hours after looking up tips and tricks. I feel safe in suggesting you probably didn’t even see half of what the game had to offer and if you’d actually discovered it all with no help or assistance, you could certainly have felt more altered.
Amazing content!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ds3 is my favourite alltime game and AHHNH its just sooooooooo good, deep yet simple, beautifull. I Love Dark Souls Series ❤. I Could talk about Soulsborne for HOURS non stop!!! Ds3 was the only game i cried when the credits rolled up.
My first experience of a "Dark Souls" like game, was Mortal Shell 🖤 Something about that game had resonated with me on another level that changed me for the better...
The length, detail, and depth of this video is a reflection of the exact point you were making the entire time. To anyone who says “well the video is kind of long” or “you didn’t get to the point soon enough” are the exact people that need saving from the instant-gratification-crisis. Well done man. Can’t wait to play DS3 for the first time.
Dark Souls 3 was also my 1st Souls title and will forever be my favourite. I bought it on release right after buying my 1st gaming laptop. I wasn’t gaming that much at the time so I tried it and gave up at Iudex Gundyr 😅. Some time later I gave it a fair go after a friend thoroughly encouraged me to. I also struggled big time with it, but it all clicked eventually. I remember thinking, at one point during my 1st playthrough, that this was the pinnacle of gaming, what I would send to the aliens if I had to show them what a video game was. Now, years later, after multiple DS3 playthroughs and lots of other great games finished (including all other From soulslikes), I still think this is the most worthy representative of video games. A true masterpiece.
Darksouls 3 was my first souls game and i knew I wanted a blind playthrough and to be as surprised as possible. Definitely in my top 10 gaming experiences maybe top 5.
This was excellent. And very inspiring! I had a feeling i hadn't had in a long time, reminiscing of my time beating the nameless king. I want to replay ds3. Thank you :) i also realized this was something ive been missing when i felt it for the first time in a long time whej jumping down my first pit in TOTK to the underworld and getting litteral chills when the accordion ROARS as you move into this new pitch black nightmare of your imagination, untill you discover more and realize its pretty empty. But! That first 3 hours i spent down there with no spoilers, just me an the game, not knowing whats coming next or what i might find in the dark, it was incredible to experience that feeling again. And ive been missing it. The difficulty of loosing like 10 harts for getting hit once. Was insane and i hated it but loved it at the same time. It reminds me of that. Again thank you this video was awesome!

Ghostrunner I & especially II encapsulates this perfectly. Another diamond in the rough with beautiful levels combined with story and fun mechanics instead of an unfinished open-word
Bravo. Your writing was incredible. Your video editing was interesting, intentional, and purposeful. Loved your critique. Well done.
Yup, i had a lot of fun going through the castle after teleporting from firelink shrine. then everything after that was amazing.
The part where you compared the nameless king fight with whiplash is just so true when you think about it. Nice analogy.
You’re a great writer man. Keep it up. You’ve got something here. Also mad respect for whiplash and DK references.
Appreciate the compliments ❤
@@scopecreep_ for sure I hardly ever comment on YT, take that for what it’s worth :). Keep it going :)
Legendary video. I admit, I clicked on this thinking," oh boy, another one. And here we go..." but actually, I felt this appraisal in my heart and soul.
This video is perfection
It's been a while since I've experienced the feeling that's take you away from reality and into the gaming world I'm definitely going try Dark Souls 3 after I play Elden Ring thanks, brother 👍🏾
Whats an amazing style you have. I loved every second of your video . Will watch it few more times. Ds1 was my first souls game and now i am playing elden ring. Will pick up ds3 after this. Thanks for your video.
really hyped to hear you think it's worth a re-watch! Thanks for the compliment and your view!
Holy shit dude what an amazing video. i never expected this when i clicked on it. i am so glad to hear other people put into words what we all experience with these games.
Great video, very insightful and meaningful! Thanks for creating this!
Loved this video. I've been playing games since the late 80s, and I relate to everything said here. And yes, DS3 is a masterpiece!
Wow…..👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I have no words to describe this review except exquisite… deff earned a sub..I didn’t even realize you were a small channel I normally only watch channels I’m subscribed to I guess the instant mind numbing gratification has hit me since I put ds3 down 2 years ago after 5 full completions and a run with cinders and convergence but you my good sir have me craving a new run thank you and god bless you
Bro - Your commentary here is smooth. Easy to watch and listen to as well - Nice - Subscribed!
you sir have earned yourself a subscriber, what a video
such a thought provoking synopsis. An awesome video. I hope you make such videos for other soul games as well. DSIII is really something special.
This game saved me during 2020 lockdown. Still to this day is the best game I've ever played.
RUclips randomly recommended this to me, and i watched the entire video. It's excellent, and i agree with your sentiment on most things. Subscribed.
I don’t know if this comment is coherent I’m very tired.
thank you king, I'm happy that something I wrote could mean something to you. Appreciate your view and your comment : )
@@scopecreep_ of course keep on making content I just subbed
Smaller games with more focus and actual creativity. That’s what we need right now.
This video was awesome. Love how you put dreams and nightmares in the background
Was wondering if anyone would catch that 😂
You couldn’t have felt more altered by the experience of platinuming Elden Ring in 65 hours after looking up tips and tricks.
My first experience of a "Dark Souls" like game, was Mortal Shell 🖤
Something about that game had resonated with me on another level that changed me for the better...
Fun watch man, and great developer- fan since 2012.
I am so happy, Dark souls 3 was my first souls game and will always be my favorite.
nice video mane :)
good writing and structure, love the dark knight being mentioned as well
The length, detail, and depth of this video is a reflection of the exact point you were making the entire time. To anyone who says “well the video is kind of long” or “you didn’t get to the point soon enough” are the exact people that need saving from the instant-gratification-crisis.
Well done man. Can’t wait to play DS3 for the first time.
Great video man, contents, narrative etc
lmfao I love that you have the dreams & nightmares instrumental as the fight goes on
Dark Souls 3 was also my 1st Souls title and will forever be my favourite.
A true masterpiece.
dreams & nightmares was chefs kiss 🤌🏼😘
The Dreams and Nightmares instrumental goes crazy, awesome vid man!
