Fun fact! The club is weird. It does scale off of strength, but it has much lower final scaling values than other weapons. It is the only weapon in the game that has it's own unique scaling formula... for some reason.
That is weird, since it's special it likely means it's deliberate, and I wonder why...maybe because it's a starting weapon and if they didn't do that it would be too strong compared to the other starting weapon options? Who knows, either way thanks for the information!

Speaking of Zweihander, if anyone gives you grief about calling it a "two hander" simply point out that "Zweihander" is German for "Two Hander". As in, a sword that requires two hands. It does not refer to a specific weapon, but more of a weapon class that encompasses any sword meant to be used with two hands. It's basically a thing that games did when they decided a German-looking weapon needed a German name to distinguish it from a literal slab of metal on a stick that is also a "sword". While we're meandering through pedantic valley, "Flamberge" is French for "Flame Blade", but that refers specifically to the shape of the blade resembling an artist's depiction of a flickering flame and not necessarily the size of the weapon. It just so happens that Flamberges tend to be Zweihanders because they're more awesomer that way.
Haha thanks, that's actually why I called it the two hander on the gargs fight, because I knew that's what it meant and didn't wanna risk saying it wrong again ;) Thanks for the extra information on the flamberge!
13:30 The crystal lizards in the Great Hollow are weird. They seem to have several spawn locations. Iirc I went to one spawn, killed the lizard, and then reloaded the area repeatedly until none of them would spawn in anymore. I am 90% sure I did it like this, but in all honesty, I only played DS1 thrice through to the end and it has been a while
Yeah they are weird. I wonder if it's _just_ those or if it's like all crystal lizards but those are the only ones people ever struggle with. because they are so close together they tend to despawn before you can take them all out, and thus the problems are very easy to notice ya know?
@@DoomWolfOfficial they actually spawn randomly so you have to reload the area until you get them. I guess respawning after they vanish is also random?
16:30 I'm a STR enjoyer and I dont use Smough's Hammer. Not only does it block the screen but it's also significantly heavier and requires more stats than the other big weapons, despite sometimes doing less damage. I tested the damage, almost all super heavy weapons don't do more damage compared to their lighter counterparts. This has always been an issue in souls games, especially when it's the boss weapons that are heaviest and because they are boss weapons, often times you can't buff them. The only exception I can think of is Ledo's Hammer in DS3, but only because it can buff itself and its weapon art makes up for it in pvp
tbh I am usually disappointed with boss weapons. I know they can't be like..super broken, but they always basically perform like a normal weapon to me, except it ya know.. _looks_ like a boss weapon lol
16:30 do you know the game "Black" for the PS2? It was a shooter made as "gun pr0n" and so basically it was made to feel insanely good to shoot people and stuff and it had that reload animation where the weapons covered 75% or so of the screen. Got reminded of that by what you said xD

I’ve done this for every stat in the game, strength was by far the hardest one of each of the stats (probably because I used the Demon’s great hammer) and vitality was by far the easiest. Thanks for the video!
13:39 the spawning thing is because the game will only generate a few of all the lizards each load; that means that the lizard did respawn when you quit, just no that one in particular. if you quit out and come back to the point of the cycle in which that particular lizard is due for spawn, it will appear again. If think it's 3 times or so for the full rotation, not much more than that. Also, the Warpick was actually quite popular with some people; specially because being pricing damage it works with Leo ring, but playing casually you just didn't see it as much, true.

@@MaskedDragon Thats a good point and could be the reason, but you can't riposte it because of the parry. I think it's that or they wanted it to be a cool secret for one boar
To get all 10 crystal lizards in the Great Hollow, you just have to repeatedly quit out and you will eventually get the crystal lizards to respawn. And for those who don't know, there is a relatively high chance you can get a titanite slab if you kill them all, so it is absolutely worth it to go through the trouble of killing every single one. But the ones in the Great Hollow are the only crystal lizards capable of dropping titanite slabs, so don't expect to get any slabs from other lizards.
About bleeding Quelaag, you are correct that you need to hit her human half, but because this dark souls theres actually more jank than that Her spider half is completely immune to all status buildup, but according to the official strategy guide, her human half is SUPPOSED to be vulnerable to bleed while being immune to poison and toxic. "Crystal lizards dont always respawn when you quit out" Ok so there are 10 total crystal lizards in the great hollow, and they have fixed spawn points, but(specific to the great hollow) any given lizard only has like a 10%(iirc, might be a little off) chance to spawn on any given reload. If you keep relpading theyll show back up until theyre killed
Interesting! I wonder what the reasoning behind that decision choice was. I mean was it meant to make the decent more interesting? perhaps causes us to see a crystal lizard and then try to get to it, only to slip and then it be gone, taunting us? who knows lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial on the plus side they all have % chances to drop slabs, so if you're on PC you can save scum to guarantee yourself 10 titanite slabs

It's like 2am here so sorry for not checking it myself but for Capra Demon/warpick, doesn't equipping your weapon into your left hand slot and long pressing Y on the pad make you use your left hand as dominant while two-handing a weapon, and mirrors the swing direction turning it into left to right, so you don't bonk walls? It definitely was a thing in DS2, don't remember if DS also used that tech.
@@DoomWolfOfficial Nah, you're right, my bad. Tested it in the morning and it will ignore the left hand weapon whatsoever if the right hand is empty, so the mechanic was added later on. Sorry for that.
I have never used the morningstar before in any playthrough. I just recently beat it with the morningstar in right and bandit knife in left........It was surprisingly fun.
The runback from Giant blacksmith to Andre isn't bad if you got the Cage Key as you can ride the cage lift to bypass basically entire Sen's. Recently had to do a bit of that myself indeed to get a +10 weapon before O&S
@@DoomWolfOfficial well to let you know u are in the Top 5 ^^ really, i love ur videos, hope many more will come and i wish for best health for you and your loved ones :)
You get used to smoughs hammer and other giant bonk weapons blocking your screen in fromsoft game, same with wearing the great jar helm in elden ring dlc. Although you then realise how much easier it is when you unequip the stuff.
I ran my nephew through his first run of DS1 a while back. I was going to run something I haven't done before, but wound up bonking everything with the Great club. I tried using Smoughs hammer since it hit so hard, but I ended up giving it up since it kept getting in my nephew's way lol
I accidentally did this when I played DS the first time. I used that reinforced club until I hit the four kings. I mainly leveled strength, I leveled endurance for fashion reasons. I had little to no health. Which is in hindsight was a terrible investment.
After Taurus demon getting to the blacksmith (under the bridge) you can got to the backdoor of blight town. Just in reverse from how you would with master key. The only hard part is the bonfire after black knight. Just in case others don't like front door of blight town.
"But since I didn't take the Master Key I kinda have to come this way" I mean, taking the cave near the Grass Crest Shield into Valley of the Drakes is still less bullshit than upper Blighttown IMO, but OK. And speaking of the Grass Crest Shield, two-handing the +14 GCS is my favorite way to go after Bed of Chaos. And yes, shields are weapons in Dark Souls. Why else would the simplified stats display show their attack value instead of their defensive values? Why else would you reinforce them by selecting "Reinforce Weapon" or with the Weapon Smithbox? I rest my case.
Correct! I'll be honest, I never actually go that way, in fact I never go to valley of the drakes for...anything lmao, so I honestly forgot about that little path. also correct about the shields, I just wanted to keep it exciting by using so many weapons, not just shields after shields lol
I use the Morningstar on every playthrough. I think pretty much every starting class can two hand it and it's a bleed weapon I can use on Havel to get his ring pretty early.
The power of the bonk, it is in my hands. And the power to sub, is in yours!

I might be mistaken but i'm 99.9% sure this mechanic wasn't added in until dark souls 2
It was surprisingly fun when I used it too haha
It feels like a crime to be this early also good job on finding a thing its called FUN keep doing it ❤
lol, thanks my friend, this run was a blast, I hope that came across well in the video
The runback from Giant blacksmith to Andre isn't bad if you got the Cage Key as you can ride the cage lift to bypass basically entire Sen's.
Recently had to do a bit of that myself indeed to get a +10 weapon before O&S
True! ...I did not have the cage key lmao
3 hopes music… i knew you were the king
Lol, thanks
The Zweihänder pronunciation was actually pretty on point.
I'm glad, it apparently wasn't last time lmao
As always, a nice video for the weekend
I'm glad you enjoy my videos my friend :) Maybe one day i'll be number one, but even if im not, I'm just glad you like them :)
Lol it's like when Goku took off the training weights honestly
It's been a while, Doom. Life's been unkind, but your video helps, all the time, surprisingly. I should subscribe.
Oh wait, I did 👍
I am sorry to hear it's been unkind my friend, but I am glad you are still here and pushing through
Wow i relly like you upload consistently. Love your video👍
Thanks! I'm trying to be more consistent, especially now that this is my full time job lol
Can confirm the warpick is busted especially against the Iron Golem
neat, maybe one day i'll try it haha
I ran my nephew through his first run of DS1 a while back. I was going to run something I haven't done before, but wound up bonking everything with the Great club. I tried using Smoughs hammer since it hit so hard, but I ended up giving it up since it kept getting in my nephew's way lol
Lol that's fair, it's the trade off, so much power, so little visibility, but I gotta side with your nephew lol
Idk why I didn’t realize until now but you pronounced sweihander right. We’re proud of you
Thanks haha
Ayye it's been a minute since I seen one of your challenge runs this one is just for me (I always go for strength builds)
haha I hope you liked it then my friend, hope I did the strength build justice!
I accidentally did this when I played DS the first time. I used that reinforced club until I hit the four kings. I mainly leveled strength, I leveled endurance for fashion reasons. I had little to no health. Which is in hindsight was a terrible investment.
neat! aside from the low health, did you enjoy the big bonk? haha
9:26 I was not expecting this line 😭
sometimes inspiration strikes ..yeah, "inspiration" lmao
3:27 don't worry lad i Say Zweihander just like that but just a tad faster you doing great
Haha okay I feel better then!
9:25 quick on the draw i see👀😏
one second's all I need lmao
742 comments and the fact that you've replied to all of them is insane
engaging with the community is one of the best parts about making videos! I'm happy I'm able to respond to them :)
Well look at that, Doom's profile picture evolved
My character and I, we grow stronger together, or something like that lol
After Taurus demon getting to the blacksmith (under the bridge) you can got to the backdoor of blight town. Just in reverse from how you would with master key. The only hard part is the bonfire after black knight. Just in case others don't like front door of blight town.
This is true, honestly though I just forgot about it as I never go that way (or to the valley of drakes in general lol)
The power of bonk compels you
It does, and always will lol
21:10 yea I’m doing good, watching your amazing as I play cult of the lamb
haha nice, enjoying it?
@@DoomWolfOfficial yes I am, keep crashing tho
Now, take it into PvP and crush thy enemies under your immense power!
me going into pvp
"your spells are no match for my muscles"
_gets SSB ultimate world of light ray-ed out of existence_ lol
smough's hammer is my favorite for ng+, uses less stamina than greatswords, turn 4 kings into mush
Does it really?? That's...kinda insane lol the stamina consumption I meant
Just finished a Guts build on DS1, so I can confirm: +15 Greatsword goes brrrrrrrrr
Agreed, I dont think I've actually used it (specifically the regular great sword) until now and man it's insane!
"But since I didn't take the Master Key I kinda have to come this way"
I mean, taking the cave near the Grass Crest Shield into Valley of the Drakes is still less bullshit than upper Blighttown IMO, but OK.
I actually beat Artorias for the first time naked using Smough's Hammer so it was a nice flashback to the past
Well glad I could awaken a (probably) happy memory haha
I use the Morningstar on every playthrough. I think pretty much every starting class can two hand it and it's a bleed weapon I can use on Havel to get his ring pretty early.
It seemed pretty good, glad I got to use it, even if only fora while lol
that wind waker intro music is hardddd
Thanks, I'm trying to add good bgm and I thought it worked well haha
Love the fire emblem music ❤
Me too glad you liked it haha
21:35 This was not the video to watch while feeling absolutely shitty.
it hurt me too
hope you're feeling better my friend
3:57 He'll run out of puns eventually right? Right?
Never lmao
the only way to play dark souls
Haha I can see why bonk has the reputation it does
Unga Bunga Smough’s hammer visibility issue really wasn’t that bad for me and I used it as soon as I could for the rest of my rest playthrough
lol well as long as you were able to effectively use it
Your new catchphrase has to comments are good for the RUclips algorithm. It’s just something you always say
lol tbf that is a reference to mah-dry-bread, not my original creation
1:07 Bro used science
sometimes I am the intelligent unga bunga lol
