It's so sweet that this is one of the only times Homer says "thanks Flanders", like he's genuinely happy and for once believes Flanders genuinely is complimenting him.
And one of the most tragic when you remember that he was once highly intelligent, now reduced to someone who's even dumber than Homer due to his addiction.
This is one of my favorite segments of all time! The lighter fluid, the Flanders toast, Homer accepting it without a snarky remark, Barney's reaction to the gazpacho, the burger hitting Lisa in the face after her monologue, Marge screaming after Bart first, the entire dirty, slimy, airborne, gag with the pig, and finally Mr. Burns promise that is immediately refuted after seeing said flying pig. Every one of them is perfect on their own, and the fact that they are all back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back just makes all of them even better!
don't forget the joke where Wiggum laughs at the roasted pig's nose while both are very close and in the same frame. Isn't it cool when jokes for an episode are laid out by inspired writers?
i love how homer says "one whopper for the COPPER!" and them immediately after tries again to somehow do a neat burger trick with the spatula when bart is standing right by him... "here ya GO!!!"

Sometimes when people, especially little kids, feel like they're not being listened to or not being respected, they act irrationally. I think Lisa felt that no-one was respecting her choice to be a vegetarian or that this was actually kind of important to her. But I'm not denying that she acted irrationally and immaturely.
To be honest, this moment would be so bad for Lisa if the series didn't suffer from negative continuity. If Apu's lesson to her of not forcing your beliefs on others had stuck, then this episode would have been a very good turning point for her instead of the moment she became insufferable.
Just think, this episode is decades old, when narcissists like this were a tiny minority, mostly confined to high society. Now they've taken over, and their double standards have divided society and destroyed the planet 💀
It would still be terrible mid episode though in requiring Lisa to act schizophrenic in seeing a lamb for dissecting a worm, Written bankrupt in not being able to write a scene with a two sided argument that manages to valuably challenge lisa's stance, That also creates totem poles to burn in effigy of a "only us vs all of them" scenario (All of the town of Springfield VS Lisa, Apu, Paul McCartney). Ends on a "lisa was right the whole world,THE WHOLE WORLD wants her to eat meat but you know she practices tolerance" Even in the final scene it has to end the episode on the 22 Minute plot by having homer reconcile. Its almost parody of future shows that would lack the better well written joke parts of this episode by having episodes for hot topics (The goobly goos do a BLANK episode) that mostly devolve into 22 minute mouth piece, So yeah mid episode. (Also to kill the bad faith argument that this is good simpsons and lisa is a kid so her opinion dosen't matter, from the episode"Say what? Cartoons don't have messages, Lisa. @Gabe Davis To play devil's advocate, I think the only reason Lisa is the answer to a question nobody asked is because nearly everyone in Springfield is an ignorant moron; they didn't ask the question because they didn't think to. This is not one of Lisa's finer moments, but overall she has been a major boon for the town.
It worked in this episode which does have a message, Lisa does apologise later after speaking with other vegetarians and learning to let people make their own choices about eating meat or not. Which actually is a good point because there are vegetarians like this. For an eight year old girl it makes sense to first act like this after turning vegetarian. In later seasons, when the show isn't worth watching anymore, the writers don't seem to know how to write her at all though but neither her or Bart act as children anymore at that point. But in the first 9 seasons, Lisa mostly does act like a kid, a smart kid but she tends to be pretty well written and has many memorable moments, a lot of fun moments too. Besides, if she didn't send that pig off the hill, we would not have had the gags that followed.

Aint going to lie, Homer was the reason why when i first had my chance at a starting a grill i lighter fluid the heck out of it thinking thats how it was suppose to be done.
I remember when this first aired. We always watched simpsons every Sunday. And when Mr Burns said "when pigs fly" my dad spat out his beer. Which I thought how is it funny when you know the gag before it's happened. Older me now knows sometimes they are the best types of gags.
I've hated Lisa's character ever since the episode where she overreacted to Bart destroying her Thanksgiving artwork. But then this episode only cements my hatred for her character qualities even further showing that she converted to Vegetarianism and attempted to make others do the same. You can't always change the world with just your beliefs.
You are right to remind me of that. Bart was in the wrong at first and kids have tendencies to mope in their rooms after a falling out/things not going their way (can't begin to tell how many times I did that during my childhood) but when she started writing a poem about the situation (probably to slag Bart off) it has gone for genuine sympathy to annoying overreaction. It was *this* episode to me that really made me begin to hate her.
Don't underestimate their power. If the writers really wanted it in per-say situation, they would be the strongest and faster father-and-son on this planet!
Watched this merely in the preview mode with no sound or subtitles, but I knew exactly what was happening the whole time with how many times I watched it as a kid. And it still made me laugh. Ah, the simpsons.

And this is when I started hating Lisa.
she's 8.
Κώστας Καραπαπαχατζηδιμιτρακόπουλος so? that's still no excuse for what she done.
Κώστας Καραπαπαχατζηδιμιτρακόπουλος
Your point?
she's 8.
a lot of small children look stuborn , it's part of their development.
Lisa is 8 for ever due to the show being in a float timeline.
She can grow up to be anything - You can just hate the personality of a child.
Κώστας Καραπαπαχατζηδιμιτρακόπουλος
Yes, I can. Again, your point?
And no, she can't grow up because she doesn't exist. She's a fictional character.
Here Lisa is actually the vegetarian nobody likes. Homer did nothing wrong, he worked really hard and she ruins it because she doesn’t eat meat.
The best bit is the pig shaped invitations which read “Come to Homer’s BBBQ. The extra B is for BYOBB”
Bart - what’s that extra B for?
Homer - that’s a typo
So nobody noticed Homer actually said 'Thanks Flanders.'
Go back to Russia
Why was Apu at the BBQ if he’s a vegetarian?
TechnoHajikelist maybe some of it was vegan meat although it sounds far fetched
maybe he's a selective vegetarian lol
I thought he only didn’t eat cow.
@@kamenridernephilim he can eat pork and chicken but no beef 🐄🐄🐄🐄
@@gunfuego I heard an episode of forensic files where everybody in this family got sick with this illness but one the youngest son when representatives of the health department asked him why he wasn't sick his answer was this he didn't eat the hamburger meat he only eats pepperoni but that was it so after the health department did some investigating and they discovered that this slaughterhouse wasn't doing a very good job with cutting the cows up so the health department probably shut down this meat packing plant because of its unsafe and unhealthy practices 😛😛😛😛
0:58 Barney "GO BACK TO RUSSIA!" gets me every time
That Mr. Burns gag was the icing on the cake!
I know!
The title quote has such a memorable cadence -- I haven't seen this clip in a decade but could still picture every intonation
There are many classic Simpsons episodes that I love, and this is definitely among the top. Everything in this sequence is full of moments and quotes that makes you keep laughing.
Lol the plug sound the pig makes when it gets jammed in the pipe is awesome.. also the pew is just as good
"Its just a little airborne, its still good!""Its gone...""I know"
0:17, Simpsons did it before family guy.
This entire sequence has been living rent free in my head since the day it aired
the episode where everyone hated lisa
1:25 "Ha ha ha, ha-ha! Ha-ha-ha! Look at his nose!"
One of the best Simpson's scenes of all time !
I have never seen so many people angry over an fictional 8 year old girl character in my life.
Because her character only gets worse from here on out. At least here they build up her rage. But, in later seasons, she's just a nag.
@@BungieStudios If you were only right about the "at least" part, everyone.
The most unrealistic part of this clip is Homer being able to make a pun of the expression "Pièce de résistance."
Plat de résistance. I think he said Pig de résistance. The translation in the French serie is "Le porc de résistance".
A while ago I saw an ad for the Covid tracking ap with the title "It's just a little airborne" now this video shows up in my recommendations.
IT’S JUST A LITTLE NUCLEAR, IT’S STILL GOOD, IT’S STILL GOOD!
@Extundo I know...
I like how even Ned laughed.
Omg thats such a classic, love it
I love how much distance Bart and Homer travel in like no time at all chasing the pig.
That Veagn Teacher’s inspiration.
I watched it RUclips. Are you happy now?
Ah, i see you copied a comment. Are you happy now?
Hmm, I see that you are happy. Are you happy now?
So is so many thousand plus RUclips watchers.
There are so many good gags in this scene.
Yes I love this scene. Thank you!!!!

Could they bother to animate Marge's lips moving?
Hope someone got fired for that blunder
a wizard did it
eh
@math Let’s take this easy now Karen
@@minihalkoja590 it was a joke ... based on the show...
The pig isn't flying. It's falling... with style.
Bart and Homer are so out of shape that they can't catch a riding mower pushing a pig up a hill. I loved this show so much
Don't underestimate their power. If the writers really wanted it in per-say situation, they would be the strongest and faster father-and-son on this planet!
It's just a little airborne it's still good it's still good, its gone, I know ☹
1:43
Marge: BART, NOOOOOO!
Bart: What?
Marge: Sorry. Force of habit. LISA, NOOOOOO!!!
I laughed hard when the flying pig came in.
Bart:” Face it, Homer! Piggy ain’t coming down!”😂
I love how happy grandpa looks at the bbq
This made me laugh so hard as a child
idk how many years later and I STILL remember this scene!
I believe I can fly....I believe I can touch the sky.....I think about it every night & day.
This is up there with the greatest scenes from the Simpsons! Almost as good as homer kidnapping the children in a stolen paddy wagon scene. 😂😂😂
It’s just a little airborne. It’s still good, it’s still good.
It’s gone.
I know. XD
How can you tell if someone's a vegetarian?
Don't worry, they'll tell you.
It's just a little airborne. Lmao 😂
It's still good! It's still good!
I now have a sudden obsession with making a dead pig go flying thru the air 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Watched this merely in the preview mode with no sound or subtitles, but I knew exactly what was happening the whole time with how many times I watched it as a kid. And it still made me laugh. Ah, the simpsons.
it's just a little muted, it's still good, it's still good
some people say it's still good today
It hasn't been good for 25 years.
@@Ten_Thousand_LocustsIt's still good, it's still good.
“Go back to Russia!” 😂😂
These three minutes were more funny, creative and interesting that a couple of the most recent seasons.
That pig would have cost like, $400-$600
Not to mention the cost of the stand it was rolling on.
Lisa should have made to pay for it.
