I believe in America that it's illegal for cops to immediately use a breathalyzer cos of their constitutional rights. They rely on some hand-eye coordination/alphabet test and then resort to a proper breathalyzer at the station if they think the persons' drunk. Here in NZ (and Australia as well) the first tool is always the hand-held breathalyzer administered on the spot.
I was pulled over and was sober, asked just to take a breathalyzer because I'm clumsy as fuck and was told they don't have one. Somehow I didn't get taken in after almost falling over for 5 minutes.

As the years have gone by and I rewatch a lot of these clips, I’m realizing there’s these one-off Phil Hartman contributions sprinkled in like the announcer in the 1960 commercial. I never appreciated how much he did outside of Hutz and McClure.
Justin Sison back then the commercials leaned on “health” benefits of smoking and also emphasized smoking pleasure. They also marketed smoking as more of a treat for people. Always showed people taking a relaxing smoke break after a long meeting, a hard task, at the end of a long day, ect. Alcohol commercials do the same thing today in their commercials and ads.
The thing is , it’s a satire on things This was when it’s stream of consciousness/ ‘run on’ form of comedy (just go with it/ one absurd thing after another) when it works it’s pretty funny If you want a taster of how they tried this type of humor- go back to the Tracey ullman show (which coincidentally features Dan and Julie from the Simpsons) they tried to attempt this so many times - but the results were mixed

I love The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, but Golden Era Simpsons is as good as TV ever got. So many jokes and they all land. It's also so multi-layered, there are surface jokes, subversive jokes, just so much happening that you can literally watch it dozens of times and catch something new every time.

My favorite part was where Homer was trying to knock out Barney with punches, a crowbar, and smashing his head in with the door. That always makes me laugh and never fails to make me fall on the floor.

I believe in America that it's illegal for cops to immediately use a breathalyzer cos of their constitutional rights. They rely on some hand-eye coordination/alphabet test and then resort to a proper breathalyzer at the station if they think the persons' drunk.
Here in NZ (and Australia as well) the first tool is always the hand-held breathalyzer administered on the spot.
I was pulled over and was sober, asked just to take a breathalyzer because I'm clumsy as fuck and was told they don't have one. Somehow I didn't get taken in after almost falling over for 5 minutes.
The sad thing is that on Disney +, they crop out the top so it doesn't show that Duff, Duff lite and dry comes out of the same pipe.
Really??? It's probably still funnier than any modern Simpsons ep (2000 onwards) but certainly Disney is ruin most things these days!
@@frankbeans5921 yeah it wasn't done on purpose, Simpsons episodes are more zoomed and cropped weirdly on Disney+ and they still never fixed it. They've received a lot of complaints about it

Justin Sison back then the commercials leaned on “health” benefits of smoking and also emphasized smoking pleasure. They also marketed smoking as more of a treat for people. Always showed people taking a relaxing smoke break after a long meeting, a hard task, at the end of a long day, ect. Alcohol commercials do the same thing today in their commercials and ads.
There’s a reason that this is the greatest cartoon of all time.

This was when it’s stream of consciousness/ ‘run on’ form of comedy (just go with it/ one absurd thing after another) when it works it’s pretty funny
If you want a taster of how they tried this type of humor- go back to the Tracey ullman show (which coincidentally features Dan and Julie from the Simpsons) they tried to attempt this so many times - but the results were mixed
The newer ones are kinda funny too...at least they can be on occasion

I love The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, but Golden Era Simpsons is as good as TV ever got. So many jokes and they all land. It's also so multi-layered, there are surface jokes, subversive jokes, just so much happening that you can literally watch it dozens of times and catch something new every time.
