Mike, you couldn’t look like your “selling out”, your passion shines through every episode we watch. I for one, love seeing you work with your friends and bringing us a show like this on what not. Cant wait!
Amazing video!👍👏 I just began my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They have an incredible range of digital comics for every genre, including the hard to find ones. Lifetime updates too!😁
Ugh. You are by far my favorite comic book content creator. As soon as you brought up WhatNot my heart sank a little. It is an invasive species leeching off the creative forces of the comic book community. I truly truly hope this is a one and done and you are able to keep your integrity. I have seen so many channels turn to crap because they continually try to push another brand into the equation. It is obviously your channel and I am but one viewer, but my plea...Be true to yourself and your own content...there is a reason why we watch and why you have blown up so big so quick. Just keep that in mind and thank you for an invaluable amount of entertainment.
Thank you for your candid opinion, and that’s exactly why I took the time in this video to explain the decision in detail. And as I said I will always stay true to myself and what my channel stands for.
Your channel and content is educational, honest, and absolutely top tier. I understand why other creators use ads etc, but I really appreciate the fact that you don't. The channel seems like something you love and not a business which is so refreshing to find these days. Keep up the great content!
Hey now! The only ink I have on my body is Calvin and Hobbs. Growing up I literally papered my bedroom walls with Calvin & Hobbs comics from the papers (Farside too). Everyone is get lost in trading them when they came over. Not so cool and fun to take them all down when I went to college... I stapled every single one up. 😱
Awesome Strange and Unusual comic related pick ups! That comic reader cover is great - the colors and art are very eye catching-ly different. I’ll be in Germany in Vacation during the WhatNot Stream, but that won’t stop me from tuning to support!
Wow Mike, congratulations on 12,000 subscribers! That's amazing. I used to have a paper route as a boy and being a fan of comics, I would read the daily comics. I read everything from Ziggy to Brenda Starr, but when Calvin & Hobbies started to be published it quickly became my favorite. Terrific art and stories. Thank you for sharing and keep up the videos.
Looking forward to seeing you live 😂...no edits! And very cool of you and the guys to do. I rarely use the app, though it's impossible to get books here. Maybe twice a year I find something... interesting. Be there!!
Because of my collaboration with Mike in the last year and a half I can attest that not only does he receive solicitations I also receive his solicitations because my email is shown on his channel and they are trying in any way to contact him. He has told me many times to just delete them which I do but there is an incredible amount to go though. It’s crazy! Ahh the price of fame!🤩🤩
Thanks for sharing, Mike. Always look forward to your shows and I’ll be there for the after show. Great pickups! Keep the Rocketeer cards prestige and unopened. I think they are cooler that way. Calvin and Hobbes is the best comic strip of all time. Still relevant after all these years and will be for some time. Hope your son enjoys them as much as we did.
Mike you snagged some killer grabs... Oddly, I have that big Rocketeer trade. You've gotta read it., Greta story Greta art, great Bette... Lovin' your stash of Bronze era Marvel Monsters. Getting quite a stash!! Do you all of DRac yet?
Great episode!Always love the content. I have been collecting for about 52 years. Love the medium and the culture surrounding the hobby. I have been trying to repick up my Clairemont and Byrne run I had foolishly traded off years ago for older Silver Age comics at the time. Stay true to your roots. Excelsior
Hey Mike! Been a while since I commented, but this video was awesome! I look forward to your friends' show on Whatnot. I think it's great that you are going to be on, yet are keeping faithful to your channel by abstaining from any sales. Also, Calvin and Hobbes was one of my favorite comic strips back in the day. Calvin's snowmen creations are still the stuff of legend! As always, keep up the good work and Excelsior!
Love Whatnot!! Can't wait to see you there! signed up for the show and followed Magic Geeks! My favorite grab would probably be the King Size Chillers! Always been a big Dracula fan ever since seeing the Bela Lugosi original! Might need to look into collecting Tomb of Dracula! Thanks for another awesome video! Will be sure to look up your local shop next time I am in the area!
SELL OUT. Just kidding but I have been in their whatnot show when showed up to the house and when you join the feed and bid against me on a book when they first started. With that being said it will be good to talk to you on the show ( no pressure to be funny while live). I'm sure you will be great as usual.
I saw you pop into a Whatnot show I was attending last week, I think, and I was like, hey, I know that guy! It's neat that they wanted to do a collab with you and gave you such a long reach with regard to its structure. You know, I see writers and artists doing live shows, and the platform assists in bringing our community together, especially for those of us who can't make it to the cons, or who live in a comic book 'dead zone' as I woefully call my neck of the woods. Thanks for the content, and we're all looking forward to the show.
Love Calvin & Hobbes! I remember reading the dailies in the newspaper, and of course the full color Sunday strips that were incredible. I own all the collected editions I'm a huge fan, the strip influenced me so much growing up as a kid (born 1980). I used to pretend I was Spaceman Spiff and run around the house fighting aliens lol. As the series wound down, I started cutting out and collecting the strip from the newspaper, pretty sure they're still in a box in storage. Thx for the throwback! Thx for the content! Cheers🍻
Love the Rocketeer. Got to read that series when it came out. Even met Dave Stevens at the San Diego Comic Con when I was a kid. Super great guy. Picked up a terrific Betty Page poster from his table. Might have been a con exclusive but not certain about that.
Look an X-Men book still can't wait for that whole Chris Claremont video of your X-Men collection I just wanted to be that annoying guy again and make sure I remind you. Still loving the videos though and how they are just straight up a man having a good time collecting comics and having fun with it 😊
I've recently picked up several FF and Spidey Marvel reprints in Italian plus a Spidey puzzle book with find-a-words, crosswords, mazes, stickers and text stories adapting ASM issues, all published in the 1980s. Very interesting and cool. Do those Rocketeer cards come with a stick of gum? If so, then for the sake of your gut health Mike do not chew that gum. UK and other foreign reprints are an economical way of reading otherwise unaffordable comics like Silver Surfer #4. Here in Australia, Newton Comics in the mid-70s got many of us into reading and collecting by reprinting early Marvel Silver Age books. I think the aliens on the cover of the Comico Christmas Special are echoing the Christian story of the shepherds gazing up in awe at the Star Of Bethlehem. Calvin And Hobbes: one of the best comic strips to ever see print. Whimsical, funny and touching. Watterson's thoughtful scripts, delightful illustrations and beautiful colouring make this a joy to read and re-read because it never gets stale.
very nice, great books. I recently picked up a French issue of Spiderman I'm going to showing off in my next video. Randomly I came across a Dave Stevens cover book I didn't know I had. Definitely not kid friendly I will have to cover half the book to showcase it on my channel. Best of luck with the what not venture!

I did come across The Comic Reader 167 from April 1979 while killing time on Ebay, it has an interesting X-Men group cover pic with black and yellow outfits on the cover. Sadly i was over a month too late for your Whatnot show. Hopefully theres another one sometime down the road. Love your videos sir!
Mike, been following you for a while and LOVE the content and your super positive vibe! I’m looking to start my own channel, not to compete, but mostly to teach and learn. I teach middle school in Nebraska, and want to model to my students how to be creators, not just consumers of social media content. I have some specific questions if you have the time and are willing to chat. So many elements of what you do make it unique to the “genre”, I can only hope to create something positive my students can use as a model! Thanks again!!
Wow that’s amazing! I try to teach my kids the same thing, in an age when controversy and anger fuels “clicks”, instead rise above that as the best way to connect with people is always through kindness and positivity
