It’s so funny how things come around. I remember picking up that seduction of the innocent in the mid 80s with my lunch money from the local flea market. I had no idea what it was. I just like the cover and the interior story and 3-D. And unfortunately, I no longer have but it’s awesome to see it again and I’m glad you have a copy.
That autographed comic of Dave Stevens is the winner for sure. You are absolutely right smaller shows are far better I just did one last week called K-town collectables that was a small collectables show in Canada near Montreal. Went there thinking I'll find a few comics and got myself Jurassic Park 1 the Amberchrome cover and a high grade Planet Comics 1 Dave Stevens cover!!

I remember seeing John Byrne's work as a back up in E-man and again when Doomsday +1 finally floated across the Atlantic ( I am an old man.) To my youthful eyes then I thought this guy will go far. Little did I know how far! Thanks for bigging up Buscema very much an overlooked craftsman. You can show me Dave Stevens' art all day long, I will never tire of it. Great artist taken so young. You are 100% correct about smaller comic book shows as opposed to the large cons. The other great thing about the shows other than the cheaper prices is that you actually get to spend time talking to the vendors and getting to know them by spending the time, one can get some amazinghistory lessons about the evolution of comic books and at times comic creators and artist will show up and there too. You can spend more time with them. It also helps that the admission fees are usually about five dollars instead of $75 at bigger shows.

Hey Mike! I just discovered your show this week. Truly enjoy your comic search escapades. My sons and I loved the times we spent together at comic shows back in Virginia in the late 90s. I was former Navy and often told the wife we were going sailing on some Saturday mornings. Garage Sale-ing that is ;-) Occasionally found a few keeper comics! I retired a few years back and have been slowly digging out the old collection, cleaning them up and trying to put them in proper storage. I am a Dave Steven's nut ever since I saw the Rocketeer movie and am hoping to pull together his books. Loved the story on the Seduction of the Innocent 3D book! My youngest son loves checking out the newest breweries here in North Carolina where we both live now. I wonder if I could talk one of the breweries into hosting a comic show also? LOL. Looking forward to your future shows. Harry

Another great video, So jealous of the Dave Stevens signed book but very glad it is in a good home, wonder if it will make the wall? I had my first true Lunch Money adventure this weekend. My wife found on facebook an ad for a yardsale in another neighborhood. it stated they would have comics. I reached out but did not get e response on what age range they had. Thought eh I'll go check it out. The woman selling had 3 short boxes outside all 60's through 80's. I looked through and discussed she was way to low on some of them. She had found them at a house she was selling and was just moving them along. She said she already had a friend that knew comics go through them and he had picked the big ones she needed to sell (hulk 181) so she was very happy. ended, up she invited me inside to look at the ones she had not bagged and boarded. I found some cool first like 1st Huntress and X-men 95 along with others even a few Australian ones. a fun fun day.

We all make mistakes! Put a post-it note on the back of items as you hold them up. List your key points of the item. Less errors will saving you time when you edit later. :)

Im so into buying collected editions recently. Absolutes and omnibuses thanks to this awesome RUclipsr, Near Mint Condition aka Uncanny Omar. Do you watch him, Mike? I don't read single issue floppies that much anymore, I still buy'em but treat them as if they are artifacts or collectible antiques.. For reading, in my opinion, Omnibus and Absolute editions are better.

You realise that you'll need to explain what a pinball machine is and how it functions to a certain percentage of your audience. Sadly. "You say Godzilla, I say Gamera, you say tomayto, I say tomahto, let's call the whole thing off" (with apologies to George and Ira Gershwin). I've just finished getting Byrne's run on Alpha Flight, looking forward to reading them (again - I read them when they were new, then sold them years ago) over a few days in the near future. Strong Guy may have started as a big dumb bodyguard but Peter David developed him into a sensitive, very three-dimensional character. I hope that all this interest in Dave Stevens and the Rocketeer will get people to read the excellent Starslayer by Mike Grell in which the character first appears as well as lots of other excellent Pacific and Eclipse books which have lain ignored at the bottom of discount boxes. Dave Stevens today, some other creator tomorrow - market forces will dictate who it is and the level of scarcity will dictate starting prices, which will inevitably rise as people use this creator's work to make money rather than appreciating his or her talents.

I watch the Comics Den youtube channel, which is based in Florida, and it certainly seems there are a lot of comic book shows and events there.

I used to go to Todd Farm every weekend when I lived there. In fact there’s an early LMC video where I hunted for comics there!
