I have a demsey and all it does is hide. When it was smaller it was always out and about. once she hit about 4 and half inches it went into hiding and wont even come out to eat
My brothers gold saums are very docile unless they are spawning and protecting eggs and fry then they'll bite me or my brother even during water changes. Tho currently his male blue Gene Jack Dempsey is his biggest fish at 9 inches. Male pink Jack close behind at 8 inches and the biggest gold saum of the 4 is around 7 inches smallest being 4 inches with the females growing much slower. All that being said, 9 inch Jacky is the most aggressive of the whole tank. I would take on his pink Jack with the way Jacky bullies the pink JD if I saw myself keeping it long term but I prefer a Blue Gene or wild type Jack.
They arent that aggresive. Just give them hiding spots and your good. If your are planning to keep them with other fish like barbs, discus, and other peaceful fish. But the JD as a juvie, let them grow up together, and they will co exist. That's what I have in my 55 with 6 discus, one JD that is around 6.5 inches now, and a catfish. I do 20 percent water changes 3 times a week and everything is perfect.
Nah mine isn’t that aggressive towards my other Alphas My Severum and my Jaguar. My Jaguar is the smallest but the boss. Love the videos though keep it up!
I have some dovi and convict hybrid fry have u seen this breed before if not I would love to send you some I have pics and videos if you want to see them

My jack dempsey ripped both paddle fins off of his mate and his siblings 😂🤣I don’t know about you but I think we have different fish with different personalities.
Only you think these jacks are beautiful but truth is they are messed up and stressed in that tank full of harassers . Your tank seems to be a fish hell with all these aggressive fish cramped in a small area.
Really? You're an idiot. Blood parrots and severums, aggressors? Do you even keep fish? Did you watch the video? Did you see any agression? Do you know how big the tank is?
Mine jack dempsy is so aggressive it picks fights with everything even with my green terror that is almost twice the size
What tank size is that? Have your blood parrots been compatible with the Jack Dempsey? No issues?
Your a goat Austin! (Greatest of all time) plzzzzzzz keep making vidssss!!!!

Love me some JDs! Mine have never really been overly agressive, just bigger sized fish
IMO they are pretty mild if they have space and as long as they are the dominant fish and possibly the only cichlid. They will not bother other fish.
I'm trying one..with angelfish and geophagus !
How do I get my Dempsey to not hide all the time?
I have power head working 24/7 is ok?
I've had docile Jacks, but never a docile gold saum green terror.

I have 1 jack in my 125 with about 20 other African Cichlid like peacocks etc should I add another jack to be with him?
I have a juvenile that I had to move because he was too aggressive towards to other jack dempsey in the tank. So I just moved to another tank.
The only time Chuck Norris lost a fight is when he fought my JD
My red terror would say otherwise

Can i keep an oscar with a JD in a 6 foot tank, knowing the oscar will eventually get bigger than the JD?.. or is that not a good idea.
Katrina Young I have a 10 year old oscar and a JD in a 50 gallon tank
No You cant. You need atleast 8 foot tank for this two😄

They aren't as aggressive as people with weak fish advertise.
