    Jill is an absolute stunner, I wish I owned a big enough aquarium to own a larger Cichlid!

      Jill looks really nice…It just seems to be small in size for a 6 year old as my electric blue jack is almost 8 inches and he is only 3 year old. However, looks beautiful. I may add one in my south and central American cichlid tank.

    Please note that I do not recommend to put a jack Dempsey in a planted community aquarium. What I have happening is a total fluke situation haha. For any stocking questions just comment down below and ill answer them!

      Bodgie her planted tank is lovely. Do you use co2? Can you list some of the plants in the tank? I recognise a few of them but some I’m not familiar with

      @@sweetdee7777 Oh boy, sorry for not seeing this earlier! so there is no C02 in this planted tank, just a sand substrate with liquid LCA fertiliser!
      Plant species include wisteria, hygrophilla polysperma, ambulia, blue stricta, anubias, java fern, crypts and amazon swords.

    Jill is a stunner as is your planted aquarium - well done Bodgie! 🙌🏻
    Although I love the JD I’m going to stick to my more mellow South Americans (geos, keyholes, angles & Elec. blue Acaras).
    I got fish burnout when I used to keep African Cichlids due to the aggression - I like the more manageable aggression of my mildly aggressive species.
    One day maybe!

      Oh I am fully on the same boat. I love the larger but peaceful south American cichlids so much, Jill is literally just a fluke in personality which is why I can basically keep anything and everything with her haha.

      Specific fish in a species being arseholes is real! I’ve had this too with a killer Frontosa and a super aggressive electric yellow that is supposed to be the most peaceful African Cichlid.
      Like people - some fish are just arseholes and they can cause havoc in an aquarium.

    lol my jack dempsey is called jill too. she is currently 7 inches in a 72 gallon that is 47x15x24 [ she originally came with the 72 gallon tank along with some cichlids which i rehomed ]. she is quite an oddity for her kind tho. she is very very skittish and the only thing keeping her from always bolting is mealworm treats to gain trust [still scared of my hand unlike my acara ] and some outgoing semi peaceful fish like my gold gourami and acara. also has quite a brown dominated color with some blues and reds. my jill is also picky af and only eats live mealworms and superworms along with frozen bloodworms, ramshorn snails and the odd wafer or pellet when she feels like it. also quite funny with tankmates. currently lives with a gold gourami, an electric blue acara and over 9 different plecos,synos and other catfish [ the acara sometimes pushes her luck and bugs the dempsey but nothing serious ] but definitely not tolerable of fry seeing as all three of my fish hunt ancistrus fry [ one ancistrus fry has beeen surviving by the filter for a week tho ]. jill also does not like most tougher cichlids including a jewel which she hated and an overbearing texas cichlid [ they constantly squabbled ] but convicts [ including a tiny convict ] were ignored. i had her jump clean out of her tank once but i managed to save her before she vanished under the cabinet. i may try a siamese algae eater and some madagascar rainbowfish soon once my holiday is over. overall a very nice fish

      wow thats amazing to hear. its awesome to see that each fish is different with its personality and you Jill sounds to be really similar to mine haha. Mine is not as picky with food but is quite skittish as well. My Jill is exactly the same with fish that look similar to her, she gets a bit agitated but never aggressive. Id love to hear how the SAE or rainbow fish work out!

    How much to make this type of fish tank and feeding for one month.Is it fit for Indian environment

    • @BodgieFromStraya
      @BodgieFromStraya  2 года назад

      So it pretty costly to set up a tank like this. I paid around $700 for the tank and stand, the lighting and filter materials was another $400+. These fish need a big tank and will be suitable for any environments long as they have a proper aquarium.
