DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS I didn’t take a photo so I get if you don’t believe me but I seen a 11 inch 10 year jack Dempsey at a fish store going for 65 dollars. It died a few months later though and no one bought it. Really old fish!

Been watching for a couple months now and love the vids bro!!!! Nice looking Dempseys but I have an 11 inch male with amazing colors and I wish you can see lol
I had a male Jack Dempsey that was 10" back in the '80's. He was half of a breeding pair I had in a 50G aquarium. Female was about 7". They bred maybe 12-15 times over about 6 years and then one night he just killed the female! I found her dead, completely brutally disfigured. He really brutally murdered his "wife" aka my pet fish. What do ya do when the fish cops are all busy solving other fish crimes? This was a true story!
Damn @@dwsdarius I just have a JD juvie right now, within the next month I should be able to get gender, But it's looking male with very little blue coloration around the mouth and chin area
I currently have my Dempsey with 3 Red Devils, I know that’s risky but it works, the Dempsey is still king, the 3 Devils have been raised together with the Dempsey already over a year old. It’s weird, but it wrks for now.
Cool, mine is with a Red Devil almost twice the size...from my experience red devils aren't as bad as people say, then again each fish has a individual personality
I've kept mine with plants before with no problems, but I imagine when they ready to breed they will destroy any plants in their nest location. I currently keep mine with a bichir with no problems, I never kept rope fish but if they are anything like bichir than there shouldn't be a problem
Yes they do. Are yours skittish? Normally when you have more than one the most dominate should be showing colors the most, even at smaller sizes like 3 inches. If all of them are brown and they are the only fish in the tank first see if they are too afraid of you which is a common cause they will be solved by itself in time. A least common possibility is diet, what are you feeding them
@@dwsdarius mine aren't even a little skittish. There in with 2 small Oscars and a convict.. they all get along great as of now. I feed 2 times a day. First a pellet, nls, north fin, ikari. Evening I give them frozen brine shrimp, frozen blood worms, and sometimes thawed shrimp.
Thank you for the reply , I thought of putting the little one in there , but she's actually coming around now , and trying to eat , also yesterday when i got up in the morning she was even back to her old self, and dancing up and down at the front of the glass , and as soon as little guy (male ) gets big enough not to become breakfast to easy I'll will introduce him into the 100 gl.tank. I have two common Plecos in my 55,and i thought of putting one in the 100 , but if the Jack Dempsey's spawn will the Pleco eat their eggs ? Thanks , for the rockin video's!
It depends on the size of the pleco...if the pleco is 6" or smaller I think the Jack Dempsey parents can successful protect the eggs from the pleco...however larger than that then they may have trouble defending the eggs at night...and yes a larger pleco will be willing to eat the eggs
You mentioned Red Devils twice as possible tank mates I’d like to introduce my red devil (2”)to my jack dempseys (2-3”)tank, is it best to try as juveniles or more when they’re grown out ? My red devil is currently by herself waiting to be out of quarantine into their tank.

Thank you , I liked your video , and subscribed.
Hello, is the female the only fish in the 100 gallon tank? If so you may be to afraid to come out because she's the only fish. You have two options if that's the case: you could put other fish in the tank to encourage more activity from her (dither fish that don't hide and are active, ex. giant danio, silver dollars) or you could put her back in the tank with the other and watch. Most likely she just wants to assure her dominance over the other which should result in chasing for the first few days...but should die down once the smaller one knows that she's boss.
I have my first successful breading pair. The pair along with the fry are housed in a 75 gal. Tank All to themselves. Is it necessary to separate them ?
Hey darius, this isnt your safe area but I have a question. Could this go in a 850 gallon (120X40X40inch)? 1 green tail arowana 1 red chilli arowana 1 gold crossback arowana 4 black diamond stingrays (High filtration and drip system of 840 gallon a week (5 an hour))
Awesome stock, but if your in the USA those Arowana are illegal, only the silver, black, Jardini and African arowana are legal. But if your not in the US, this arowana may fight at times, but its possibly considering how Joey King of DIY has it
I bred a pair of jack dempseys back in 2010 ( this was my first fish bred in the hobby and 1st cichlid) sadly they got sold because the polini had been attacked by em
As usual, GREAT VIDEO !! Does anyone have experience with electric blue Jack Dempseys ?? Are they as healthy ? I assume Electrics are hybrids. If so, can theybe effectively bred ? And if so, what are the offspring like ? Again, great and informative video.
Thank you, the electric blue jack Dempsey is a fish I've tried to keep several times but to no success because they are very fragile. They are genetically breed to show that brighter blue, so its not a cross between two species but rather selective breeding that produce this fish and when they breed, the fry come out electric blue as well.

I had two male JD's a few years ago. They both hid all day long, and at night they'd come out. I tried introducing more fish (mollies and such), but the JDs teamed up and killed any newbies. Only the algae eater was tolerated by them. I wouldn't recommend getting them unless you already have some fish. They can hide a lot and don't play nice.
Tank design has a lot to do with how active they are...and yes they are known for their aggression so its recommended to only keep them with similar aggressive fish
@@dwsdarius Yeah, I actually spent a lot of time after cleanings to re-arrange the plants and hiding spots. It was a 55 gallon tank for just them two, and with at least 5 different hiding places, they two always picked the same spots no matter where I put them. I have 11 jacks in 1 tank send help. Don’t have the heart to kill any but they breed like fuckin rabbits
I have 2, ones 5in other is 7. Think both males on color. The bigger is almost scared of people after 8 months but in last few weeks has killed 2 fish.. both smaller red devil's and the other Jack is up in corner of tank hiding. Cool looking fish but not worth keeping over shady personality. I'll keep a single fish aquarium but not for a timid asshole over all
speak louder pleaase
Just turn your volume up 😂
