Look bro. .. .EVERYONE needs a break once in while, rather it be for psychological reasons or just having a FUCK IT DAY! .. We're living in some strange and unpredictable times bro.. take your time to enjoy the little things.. My love to you and your family.
I have a few of these as well and have always wanted to do something similar. Having had them running for a few years though, I am not sure it is practical. As you mentioned, they often go under things (which is great for getting dust bunnies) but without an extension for the bumper, the Roomba doesn't know it is that tall and will just smash into things. While this may not seem like a huge deal, the Roomba actually gets going at a decent speed (enough to move furniture) so I suspect there would be damage on wood or the robot parts. The second thing you'll realize if you've had one of these robots for a while is that they love getting stuck. You'll often hear, "Error... I've run over something stupid again." and you have to move it and press the button on top to start it. While the magnets are a good idea to access this, it would have been better to have buttons on the top that can be pressed. You'll also have those days when you just want Roomba to shut up and go home, which also requires a press of a button. All-n-all this looked awesome, but I think it is a project I'll pass on as to me it introduces issues that I don't think would outweigh the cool factor.
Hey man, this is so cool, defo see the batteries not included vibe! And love the imperial feel to him too. Great video and editing too! Oh and thanks for the shout out! How cool is that EL wire right?? 👊
Love it. Came out way more sinister then I expected. Very imperial. But still awesome. I want to make a Roomba droid if/when I get a Roomba. But I think I'll go for a friendly looking droid and add a speaker loaded with astromech noises.
Welcome back! I feel now the urge to modify my _Neato vacuum robot_ to something more Mass Effect like. As if I hadn't already so many unfinished projects...
So happy to have you guys back in the shop. I hope all of life’s challenges have been worked out for now. Hope y’all are doing well. Now...can Ghengis come over here to play for a day? Maybe L3-FTY can come to help get bigger things out of the way? This build came out so good. It’s cool that they designed the Roomba to fit the seeker droid done so well. 👍👍👍👍👍
So happy to have you guys back!! RUclips is a vast empty bit of space without you guys.. love the build, sometimes simple is the best and you made this feel really simple but awesome at the same time!!
Dork = Socially inept Nerd = Academic Geek = Enthusiast They're get mixed up because of the bullies of the 80s and 90s using them interchangeably. Plus you can be a combination of two or all three. But they have different meanings. For example I am a Star Wars and a Batman geek, because I'm so enthusiastic about them. I'm a computer nerd because I studied them at college. But I'm a both when it comes to music, because I studied music at college (making me a music nerd) and I love listening to and creating music (making me a music geek). I was also a dork back in primary school (British elementary school) because I was quiet and awkward. But I came out of my shell and became quite social. So I'm no longer a dork.
That is absolutely awesome! Being legally blind I don't have the kind of creativity that you do, but that would be cool as hell if you sold either a kit or a completely made up one that anybody could just add to their Roomba! Absolutely amazing.
This was very cool and inspiring. The only a few major changes I would make. I would be to make the EL wire and the LEDs sound reactive. I would add a soundboard and a speaker so it is truly interactive as it cleans but it would need a voice on and off or a remote (droid caller) so it would not be flashing, beeping, booping, and chirping all the time. I would also add a laser scanner that sweeps the area in front of the droid as it cleans just because that would be so cool. If not a real laser that sweeps back and forth then a Cylon-style scanner eye. And who knows a silver mohawk..... LOL
this project is awesome! And as always, not only is a cool project, but delivered in more than just an informative DIY, but in a TV show entertainment level.
