Sometimes it takes someone else's enthusiasm. I parked my hotrod before my son was born. Now 5, he was in the garage with me working on something and started looking under the cover. He was so excited that there was a "race car" (all cars with flames are race cars to a 5 year old) in the garage that he played in it for hours and talked about it to everyone for weeks. I rebuilt the carb, new fuel pump, filters, battery, bled the brakes, replaced front wheels and tires, redid the alignment, and cleaned everything up in about a month. We went for a "first" ride through the neighborhood today.
I am a big fan of the "This is how I made something cool" videos because for me the creation process is often more fascinating than the end result. (which is really saying something given how epically awesome your projects turn out) But I have to say that the interplay between you and Bolts was so well done that I actually felt emotionally invested in the character and his relationship with you. You're an incredible maker, and quite the performance actor as well. Excellent work!
Bolts looks awesome! As a scale model builder we all have the shelf of doom. The place that uncompleted builds go to collect dust until we find some motivation to pick them back up again
Bolts looks fantastic! I admit, I had my doubts on Bolts’ choice in color, but you made it work perfectly! And your message about it being ok to step away from a project, was exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks so much for the video Brian! P.S. Adults are a myth. Stay Imaginative my friend! 😉
I was worried about the color choice too, but really happy with the Tatooine look! Thank you for watching and commenting. and I love "Adults are a myth. Stay Imaginative my friend!" . . . . PERFECTION!
Great episode Brian! BOLTS should egg on or needle you from the background on all future builds when the Mrs isn't available on screen. Keep up the great work! 👍
I have a static, blue Scrubber Droid, which was inspired by the Naboo Patrol Fighters. I'd seen countless yellow Scrubber Droids to go along with the Naboo Starfighters but never a blue one. I have a second storage bin masked off to paint yellow, that has been masked off for at least eight years. Now that Mando flys a metal color N-1, I'll have to make a metal colored Scrubber Droid.
Brilliant!! I absolutely loved this video. Loved the droid and the creativity. You allowed me an escape before I escape to build another diorama. I'm inspired! Thank you.
This is quite frankly your best cinematic piece to date, you and Carissa killed this! I love that Bolts is your “inner” outer monologue, and should be a part of the Smugglers universe going forward.. great work my friend.
Congratulations Brian on finishing the Gonk Droid build! Your videos are awesome! I think the story you made up for "Bolts" was great. Thanks again, it was fun to watch.
Brian, my friend, you have outdone yourself. I loved every second of this video. So happy that you brought BOLTS to life. I can absolutely relate to projects sitting in a corner, staring at you, screaming every time you walk out the door without touching them. Yes, I see you over there. Yes, I feel guilty. But you need to wait a bit longer. Keep up the inspiring work.
On this day May the 4th im in search of inspiration and it's source. Then just as I am about to give up hope and bring my search to an end that source presents itself and I am happy again. On this day we get to celebrate Star wars and with the help of two lovely presenters as a bonus I am reminded that star wars like the force it flows powerfully through us. As I sit and think about star wars and all of it's parts, I realise how much we all hold it dear in our hearts. So as I watch the latest video Il be reminded to build up my motivation and to start measuring, painting and cutting because I shouldn't waste my life and instead start building something out of nothing. May the 4th be with us.
I've had the pleasure of watching a good number of your videos since discovering them perhaps a year ago. This one, however, is next level in nearly every way. The effort is apparent and appreciated! Thanks, and congratulations on a job well done.
Man that is one of the best Gonk droids I've ever seen. Such a cool project and I'm glad you finished it off. I typically have a project sitting that I started and go back to later to finish.
I know exactly what you mean about letting time and process be a thing when inspiration flows back and forth. It took me 6 months to finish a project that was supposed to be quick and easy. However disappointed at reasons for not finishing it on time , I loved what I created when I did finish it. And it might not have been what I wanted had I forced myself through it at once. Clearly, any delay was by design,…because Bolts is an enviable masterpiece. Awesome job Brian
Love it, what a great video. As a custom action figure creator I totally get where you are coming from. I start so many projects and don't finish them because I keep getting new ideas and starting them and so it goes on. But like yourself I go through my boxes and look at older projects again to rekindle the buzz from the first time I got the idea for the custom and I'm encouraged to finish them, one project at a time.
I watched all the parts of this build. I really enjoyed it and I’d like to thank you for the awesome advice. I’m getting back to some unfinished projects and I’m ready to knock them out! Thanks again bud, awesome video and amazing job!
What a great project! I love the storytelling and creativity! It might have taken 17 months, 6 days, and 7 hours for you to get here but it was worth the wait!
These videos always bring a smile to my face. Just seeing what is possible with a pile of junk. This video has really inspired me to continue making something out of nothing! :)
@@TheSmugglersRoom I was wondering if you could do an in depth look on laser printing? I personally don't own a laser printer but my local library offers theirs to anyone who know how to use it. And I would love to use the printer the only problem is im not sure how to.
Yep that's just like me. Over active imagination, hard time being forced for long projects, get side tracked alot. And a little bit impulsive when I see things that spark creativity and have to start working on it. We are from the same creative mind.
looks incredible, what an excellent build. thoroughly enjoyed watching you bring this to life. perfect project for star wars day. may the 4th ( and the Force) be with you
The backstory (sidestory? 😉😄) and character interaction worked really well.. I love what you did there! I find this video encouraging, as I have so many projects begun and laid aside.. or remaining unstarted potential ones, once I gathered parts & materials intending use. As always, Brian, and Carissa, your approach is so helpful - informal, humorous, warm, personal, down-to-earth and frank.. while HIGHLY skilled and informative. Yay, way to go, us geeks!
Amazing work and this will be one of my favorite episodes of yours! Very inspirational. Thanks for the boost in my creativity! This definitely repaired my own personal “Hyperdrive Motivator” As an artist I go into periods of creativity followed by periods of burnout and a lot of projects half completed! Thank you again very much!
How can they keep getting better? LOL This video is like a fly on the wall type of video, and I loved it. You really have to have an imagination to pull this off. Great job on the video and integration! :)
Not a bad build video, although not recessing the face plate bugs me. The presentation was outstanding and the watchability and rewatchability is very high. A project very well done.
I stumbled upon this channel by accident a few weeks ago and I am so happy I did! I have enjoyed every video I have watched over the last couple weeks - your maker skills are amazing, your story telling is on point and your videos are some of the best I have seen in the "I make cool stuff" realm of RUclips. I have learned so much from you - thank you. Keep up the great work!
Turned out great. I tend to start too many projects as well ... I don't ever give up on them, but sometimes it does take way too long to complete. Thanks for pointing that out ... might help so others who might feel overwhelmed. Happy Star Wars day!
Love everything about this video. The production values, the honesty, the music and the fact that it is a continuation of one of my favourite channels…🤖❤️
This is a whole new level of video for you Brian. Outstanding work, both on Bolts, whom I love as a character, and the video itself. I know the editing of this had to have taken a really long time, but you guys just nailed it.
