Oh man, that music. So annoying.
Several things... I've used this process and it doesn't last. The seat leather cracks reappear shortly after you begin using the seats again. Very frustrating.
Also, that music is terrible!
Been doing leather repair for 21 years and this is the first video I can honestly say, well done. I would be interested in the products as well as whether you have to be a franchise to purchase or not. My supplier has become a bit flakey on returning calls and the help I last received for an adhesion issue on newer land rovers was useless at best.
Your process differs a bit from mine but looks to be very good and professional. Much respect
Thanks for the feedback and kind words. It means a lot especially coming from someone experienced in the field. Where are you based? You don't have to a franchise to purchase. We would love to help and be grateful if you could email us - info@colourlock.com. We have OEM approvals on our products too which should hopefully give you further confidence.
@bina nocht really hard to answer without putting my hands on it. For the age of the car I would worry about how dry the leather could be or thin areas of wear. I wish I could give a better answer but without seeing it and feeling it its hard to answer. I've seen 3-4 year old cars look like 40 years of wear as well as the opposite of that.
@bina nocht absolutely do not use any conditioners or especially oils on painted/finished leather. If there are any cracks or raw areas the oil especially will soak into the leather and you will not be able to get a new finish to stick. Some conditioners can make the job very difficult or near impossible. Klasse vinyl, leather, rubber treatment works amazing. However only the clear formula not the milky one.
@bina nocht I've had a client that oiled his seats and there were areas that the finish was completely worn off so the leather soaked the oil in. Nothing I could do to extract the oil to then get my finish to stick.

I love how quiet the narration is and how loud the music is. Outstanding.
I am at a loss for words. All these years I've wondered how leather is restored & my God. This is just amazing. What a gift. I'm sure it takes years & years of practice to nail the strategy but I'd love to attempt this one day. I think mixing/matching the correct paint color would probably be the hardest part for me, after spending however much money on all the tools necessary to complete the job. Thank you for posting!
The company is bow called Geist. You can contact them give them your VIN and they can give you the matching color.
I love that you provided a link to each of the products from their respective point in the timeline of the video.
The transformation is unreal! Great job, guys.
THIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CRAFT!! absolutely in love with your ability to breathe life into a dying material. to say I'm a fan would be a massive understament 😩😩
Wow! First rate repair. The hole repair came out incredible. You guys make it look easy, but that is surely a lot of work. Thanks for sharing.
I am starting an auto detailing business and I had no idea this kind of restoration was even possible! Amazing work.
Probably best to know what's possible before starting that business up 😉
@@matthewnicholas6365 Not necessarily, innovation and technology wait for no one and it isn't announced for everyone, everywhere. I always think of the character that Jamie Fox played in Collateral Damage, he never started his business because he was always "trying to get things lined up". I think it's great that @
Austin Page is starting his business and is actively looking for ways to improve it like watching videos like this. One of the best moves in starting a business is just starting.
Agreed. Start now
@@matthewnicholas6365 Which is why you're still in your mom's basement playing videos all day.
@da324 you should be careful what you say to people you don't know. Putting aside the face I'm a married 42 year old man who owns a house worth 6 times that of the house I grew up in, I also lost my mother to cancer two years ago.
And her house never had a basement, so there.
the part that gets me with stuff like this is how well they blend the paint to match, thats pretty damn nice
Masterful. I love it when people do know their craft in and out.
Thank you for making a video showing all the steps of the restoration and on top of that explaining what and why are you using in each step. Awesome job!👍
I so wanted you to fix that small piece of piping on the arm rest... that would have made for a perfect repair. The seats look amazing - nice work.
Fantastic work. I'm blown away by the results. Thanks for the very detailed information given in the video. Subscribed liked and shared 👍❤️
Omg so glad we have people like you in this world who can restore leather car seats back to life!!!!
Tinting the filler is genius! Thank you!
Those seats were in pretty rough shape, you did a fantastic job of restoring them to original condition!
That was amazing! Never would I have thought those seat would look so good. Amazing work!
The only Vidoe I’ve seen with detailed process and making mention of all materials and products. We would love another Vidoe of more recent cars likes of new bmw x5 and recent ones and new products with much explanation just like this.
no bs, just an actual and effective guide for seat repair. nice
Similar techniques have been done for decades. I had a repair done on a seat in the 80's. Even the old product held up well for me. I'd bet this holds up for a long time.
Great cleaning and repairing those seats it's realy a good thing to take care of them i think that its realy helpful.
This is sheer artwork. It takes dedication and lots of experience
Artistry at its finest! Excellent work. Bravo!
Absolute fantastic job! You are highly talented artists. Congratulations.
You guys really did some magic to these seats 💪
Thank you!
An amazing transformation, makes me want to have a go at restoring a leather seat.
Great work! Thank you for the detailed look at leather restoration!
Wow, I never thought those types of repairs were possible with leather.
Thanks!
question is how this repair will last and how the filler holds up under use and surfaces flexing.

Great. I love people doing their job with knowledge AND enthusiasm. This leads to great results. Greetings from Germany.
Our pleasure! It is a German product you know...check out www.lederzentrum.de
I have a Toyota Supra with the SAME SEATS (color, defects) and you gave me the way to restore them. GREAT ! ! !
That two tone on the paint is beautiful
The creases on the driver seat still show, most of the leather grain is gone, which is an honest expectation considering the starting point. I'd love to see them in a few years.
My parents had spot repair once and the seats never feel the same. It’s like 2000 grit sandpaper on the top with a 5000 grit smoothness
@@Amor1990 ...I'm guessing these type repairs are probably not intended to be a replacement for an actual reupholster of the seats with new leather. More than likely this “repair” is just a cheaper "visual" alternative. If the process were the same price as new leather, one would just have the seats done with brand new leather?
Didn't know this kind of repair was even possible. Nice work.
It's been in existence for a long time. Perhaps you may not aware of it or there is no craftman you know of by your area. In the end, all you need is money.
You did a good demonstration.TY for the detail process break down.
A very beautiful leather restoration project. First time on YT seeing this type of seat restoration. Great content love it❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
OMG! You've done such an amazing job guys! Well done 👍
Thank you so much!
Amazing work. I clicked on this vid because I thought it was something I might be able to attempt on my own car. After a few minutes in, I realized this was way above my skill level. I watched the whole thing anyway just because I was so impressed with your work.
I randomly came across this video and man....that’s some awesome video and amazing job.....I’m just WOW
Woah! You’re an artist. I need practice pieces! AMAZING! Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic. I never ever thought you could rejuvenate leather like that. Great video
Yes you can and you don't even need to spend that kind of money. There are more videos here you can check.
@@josechimal1358 I’m amazed, the dedication and concentration required would probably be far in excess of what I could do personally as I have the attention span of a child, but watching proper detailers and leather workers on RUclips has opened my eyes to what can be achieved with even what seems unrepairable
Would’ve been cheaper to buy a new seat 😅😆
@@Smith6265 why can’t you appreciate the craftsmanship? Not everything is about saving money, it’s nice to spend more and get a better service, that’s why people drive bentleys or
Rolls instead of hyundais, and wear a Rolex and not a timex - they appreciate quality, even though the cheaper products do the job just as well as the overpriced ones
Is it rly rejuvenated or its for looks only? U cant maintain it with leather cream, it might rub off on white clothes and it could quickly deteriorate in the sun and feels sweaty?
Amazing transformation!!!! I never knew seats could be restored similar to car paint
They can't. If you press the fabric a few times, the solid parts filling the holes will come loose bc they're not flexible
Wow. Its so black and shiny and looks super soft after all!
I kind of like the idea of repair. Even if it is not always cheaper than getting a newer car. One of the true ways to make a difference in our waste and sustainability problem.
Wow, I feel so satisfaction when it covered by paint and the result was Amazing!
Thank you so much 😀

Awesome work! I never knew this could be done. I thought leather seats like this had to be re-upholstered. Keep up the great work. GODSPEED mate!
Re upholstered would be a better option imo
@@AlexiaVon Most of the time the re-upholstered will never have the quality standard of the original.
@@MAIQUELKOCH depends, are you a cheapskate working with a shady business or are you willing to spend money on quality materials and decent work being done on the reupholstery.

Ive been doing interior repairs for a few years now and it never occured to me to mix some dye in with the crack filler. Thats going to save me alot of time!
Wow. Looks new! Amazed at how well the patch and filler repaired the holes and cracks. How durable is this?
i dont think the hole will last long before its showing again, but the rest is pretty solid
Presently restoring my dream car, I had the seats taken away to be fixed up and have to say they looked as good as this. Very interesting to see the process. Well done guys, I never realised how this could be achieved and the time and products involved.
How much did it cost?
@@huzaifar7560 Dont remember exactly, it was 4.5k euros for engine/turbo rebuild and the seats, I think around 800 euros, this included replacing the bolster padding.
Job well done - Nice to have your partner assist too Very impressed with the outcome.
They really did turn out well! I need to restore my V70 Oak leather seats
Awesome works as always guys!
Cheers Dan!! Hope all is well..
Thank You for posting this. Our W124 300E '92 can finally be semi-restored from the interior, black leather seats.
very impressive craftmenship! well done. I know very little of this skill, but the quality and care can clearly be seen
Trust me, this is a great solution when selling a car, but give it a few years and the cracks will return. I bought a '92 W124 in 2016, the front seats looked amazing, now the seats' paint is cracking to reveal the damaged leather below. This is akin to the pre-sale bodywork blow-over many dealers give their cars to present them in the best light. The only way to repair damaged leather as in 0:39 is to replace the panel, otherwise it will be like taking a wrinkled 80-year-old, applying some make-up and expecting them to pass as a 30-year-old for the rest of their days.
I wonder if it depends on the system that you use. I had Fibrenew redo the interior of my W126 Mercedes. I had a very similar hole on the driver side bolster. 10 years and 40,000 miles later and it still looks as good as new.
the only way to really fix that is to replace it. this method would be great for a museum piece or a collection of sorts and not driven much at all.
A couple of years isn't that bad ...
you can always repaint them. had a jaguar with ivory seats. it was a nightmare to find somebody to reupholster my seats. i just painted them myself.
@@MrJuergenG it is if the car is garaged and the seats hardly used. I've only done 17k kms since March 2016.

Looks amazing, my question is how durable is this repair. I have a classic car that has a fair amount of patina lines especially on the drivers side. I’m not flipping the car so I’m interested in a long term repair. Will the filler pop out over time?
