We all know how important craftmanship is, even though it is a word never used in todays workplace in America. It is the one thing that made American made items stand out and I was taught to make everything that I did with masterful craftmanship. Now days, people want everything fast, and they get mad when it falls apart in 3 months. You always get what you ask for, but rarely what you pay good money for. Oh well ! easy come and easy go.

I live in the Raleigh, and I am quite familiar with Brian's work. A few months ago I was fortunate enough to track down and purchase (gain) the exact, beloved 1 Series I had owned from 2013 - 2016. During our apart, efforts were made to mask the wear and tear of the Lemon Boston leather interior. I first met Brain through the local BMW Car Club of America Tarheel Chapter. "Fastidious" is definitely the word I was use to describe Brian Marks, the owner of Fibrenew. When Brain told me his goal is to "turn out a quality end result that I feel good about and that you'll be proud to have in your car," I knew I had found the right person for the job. This video accurately demonstrates the quality of work offered my Brain at Fibrenew.

No odors in cabin. Leather scent wasn't there to begin with on a 25 year old car. Some Fibrenew Leather Protection cream will bring that scent back, though
Bit of an odd secret: Leather doesn't actually have that distinct scent. That smell we associate with "real leather" is always fabricated into the material. I was shocked when I learned that from a higher-up in a leather manufacturing company. So even if the leather scent from when it was new is gone, you can always restore it again.
But what kind of dye was used? Any examples for companys producing them? I'd really love to recreate the E500 Limited seat-pattern with this technique.
The details at the roof, sunvisor and others, they not get repair? I think they gone use the new color or Black to match the project. Great vídeo as always.
That looks amazing. Only thing I would change is the leather around the shifter. That should have been black in my opinion, just to give that area a little accent color. That and the beige stuff left on ceiling should be matched to the black headliner.
Worked with finishes for many years. If all you want to do is change or match a new color this is a great way to go. Traditionally, leather seats and interiors were dyed and the results offered not only a special color but, more importantly, a unique feel and pliability that has made leather always so desirable. This method of "painting" the leather sacrifices much of those qualities and is the major "con" for this process, in my opinion. If that is not a consideration then this is a great method to recolor an existing interior.
@@bernardwarr4187 Not 100% sure. Matte finishes are commonly achieved by either adding a "silking" agent to a coating before application or by using a very mild abrasive on the dried surface. to reduce the gloss.

I'd be willing to bet that a full reupholstered interior with new leather is going to be cheaper than dyeing your used interior. Not to mention reupholstered leather would hold up better than dyed leather to scratches and such.
Hello. I am impress with the results, specially with the matte finish. Can you tell me what material did you used on the finish? I have an small project, and I need a resistance finish. Thanks
I had no idea this was something that could be done. Might look into this sort of thing on my next car as it only offers two colors of leather interior and I don't care for either.
@The Legend of Texas I 100% call that going wrong. So many colors in the world and the most creative thing someone could do was all black? Hard pass. All about personal preference.
@@Datboi_Mo That's what you get with most cars today: black or dark gray. Boring as hell, but very cost-effective for the manufacturer. I remember when you could get a real choice of color interior on many American cars.
@@paulparoma If we could get today's interior quality with yesterday's colors that would be the perfect mix. My only qualm with the older interior was the materials they came in.
@@Datboi_Mo Yes and no. Today's cars use way too much plastic, which I can't stand. Not long ago, there was no plastic on door panels. And the fabrics on the seats were very nice, if not truly luxurious, on the better cars.
I just cant see this not starting to fade or rub off sooner than you'd expect. Are factory oem seats dyed through the materials or just on top like this process in the video?
That's great looking work. I'd love to see more like this on the Ammo channel, complementary trades and crafts that go into the car restoration process. It makes Ammo a one stop shop for more than just paint prep and finish. 😉
like he said, Aniline leather is dye-able, fully finished leather is like leather that is painted. most cars have fully finished leather so you remove the bad paint layer and any leather pieces falling off then add a new color layer. Tho there are much better paints then water based ones, I don't know why they use this garbage
@@maytagveneno9653 Their is no paint on the leather. Both aniline and fully finished leathers use dye, different types but similar. Fully finished means it has a top or clear coat. Most leathers use water based dyes nowadays and they are great. No need to call something garbage just because you cant understand what was explained multiple times in the video
Aniline leather is dyes through abs Sonia pigmented leather, then pigmented leather is painted on the surface. Here’s a link to Aniline leather prorestorers.co.uk/knowledgebase/aniline-leather/

Any link for the paint? I am going to DIY for much less.
6:44 that E39 looks pretty damn good
This is the best thing ever! I wanted to dye my corvette to that adrenaline red and its super expensive to replace it!! Thank you so much ammo nyc!!
I'd be willing to bet that a full reupholstered interior with new leather is going to be cheaper than dyeing your used interior. Not to mention reupholstered leather would hold up better than dyed leather to scratches and such.

That m5 touring😍😍😍😍
Hello. I am impress with the results, specially with the matte finish. Can you tell me what material did you used on the finish? I have an small project, and I need a resistance finish. Thanks
That's a really great job, but why didn't they do anything to the grab handles, the sun visors, and the rubber sealings?
Are modern car seats really clear coated from factory?
absolutely they are
I believe they all are, for the same reason paint gets clear coated, to protect and make the leather last a significant amount of time longer.
yes
Yes, with exceptions. I dont believe Rolls-Royce clear coats their interiors. Some other really high-end handmade ones might be clear coat-less.
I had no idea this was something that could be done. Might look into this sort of thing on my next car as it only offers two colors of leather interior and I don't care for either.
red car and orange interior, blue steering wheel. This man has no sense of matching colors.
The Legend of Texas Damn straight
Fascinating and impressive stuff. Question though, why did the customer go for the older style dashboard?
I just cant see this not starting to fade or rub off sooner than you'd expect. Are factory oem seats dyed through the materials or just on top like this process in the video?
That's great looking work. I'd love to see more like this on the Ammo channel, complementary trades and crafts that go into the car restoration process. It makes Ammo a one stop shop for more than just paint prep and finish. 😉
Wow, what a fantastic job and a beautiful result!
So “dyeing” is basically removing and and repainting the leather coat.
like he said, Aniline leather is dye-able, fully finished leather is like leather that is painted. most cars have fully finished leather so you remove the bad paint layer and any leather pieces falling off then add a new color layer.
Here’s a link to Aniline leather
prorestorers.co.uk/knowledgebase/aniline-leather/
@@The613MC leather is painted that’s in cars, all leather is aniline dyed through, then it’s painted and a clear coat applied
Pigmented leather rear all about it

My question is, can you still clean and condition your leather after this process? I'd be worried about taking those coats off
as well.
what white dye is this? i wish you would have shown the products used
Only thing I'd change is the gear shift and e-brake boots to black.
So nobody noticed the badass Hartge 3 pieces ?
For $10k u can just buy colored leather and get it installed
probably...but you can pay 5k and do this. You can pay 20K and get a new engine. Maybe 6K for some killer wheels.
Might be cheaper and easier to pick up a whole new interior from a wrecker
@@meteora8888 not in this colour and not from this model/type , you won't .
Yeah but what’s the fun in that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In the exact color you want? maybe not.
Sheesh...beautiful work. I have a '02 BMW 330i that I am thinking about doing some interior work on and this video has inspired me. Great work.
Dye is supposed to be layered with super light coats. I'm sure the end product felt more of a plastic texture than if it wasn't streamlined with an airbrush. (Best to do with an applicator pad and layer lightly.)
the work cost more than the car. great video!
both!

“Nick and Paul reinstall-“
Me: Bars
The wires and controls in appropriate holes.....LOL
I love the color. The finished product looks amazing
i say good color!
I need the exact work done how much would it be to the exact same thing on a 2001 bmw 7 series.
Thanks For This Most Excellent Video. The Hard Work Involved Was Evident When You See the End Results.FANTASTIC COLOR CHOICES.BEAUTIFULY DONE.THANKS AGAIN .
Do love a meticulous mind who strives for perfection
Factsssss
16 minutes later I figured out I watched an entire ad video
That’s on you😂
Had a friend who worked at used car lot ... they used rattle can Spray Paint to "fully restore" interiors!!
not going to last heat will no
This was awesome and a highly professional job. I was looking for more diy but I really enjoyed the outcome.
I have this colour interior in my bmw as well and i didn't knew that you can paint leather, amazing video and the car looks brand new, all the money and efforts are worth it 😍
Is it me or does this look for expensive than just replacing the interior seats and door panel?
Probably never came in that color
@@DolphinDivingChamp ^^ Exactly for that reason, I suspect the cinnamon colour wasn't available before the E39. Never seen an E34 with that colour of trim.
