    At first I thought it was impossible to restore, and they had to accept the unfixable cracks, but you got them looking like new. Professional job

    Great job! I did my seats on my V50, same colour. But I did not have a spray gun, or heat guns to dry. So I cleaned the seats with Auto Glym leather cleaner and magic erasers, which really lift the dirt, and prepped the seats with very fine sand paper, then filled in all the creases, and allowed the filler to dry. Then I gave the seats another light sanding, and cleaned of the dust with a damp micro fibre cloth. Then I applied the leather colourant with a clean cloth, allowed it to dry, then applied another coat of colourant. The colourant I used had a satin finish when dry, and did not require a final coat of sealant. The entire process took two days for the whole car, including leather inserts on the door cards. It took longer because I had to let each process dry naturally. But the results were AMAZING, like a brand new interior. Two years have passed since I did it, and now they will need doing again, but only the front seats, as I do not use the back seat. So the back seat only needs to be lightly cleaned. 👍

Jeżeli jest już wytarta itp, to niestety przy systemie Colourlocka nie da się już jej odbudować na większych powierzchniach do takiego stopnia aby dobrze wyglądało.

      Thank you, if you serach for Colourlock or Geist you probably will find supplier somewher near, we are based in Ireland (www.ocddetailing.ie) the durability of the paint stated by producer is about 2 years for daily used cars, i weekend cars it lasts way longer, or if maintened correctly also will last longer in a daily car. You would only need to replace the foam if its worn, in this case there was no need.

  • @mygt8a4re

    Wow, incredible results! 👏👏. Will this last long? Well the filler ever give up and show the old wear that was filled? Just curious as I'm getting ready to pay somone to do the same repairs on my front leather seats but am worried the results won't last. I'm very good at maintaining good condition leather. The truck I just purchased with 70k miles was neglected so I can't bring it back without restoring/ repairing. Thank you!

    • @OCDDetailing2021
      @OCDDetailing2021  2 года назад +4

      Thanks Justin, as long the process is performed correctly, the durability of repair like this is about 2 years in the case of a daily used car. What this means is that after 2 years the paint may start to wear on the most used parts ( bolsters) , considering the quality of leather these days ,I think its not bad durability. Proper maintenance will extend the lifetime of this repair. In the case of a truck, if it's going to get heavy use, I would look into reupholstering and making sure that a good quality leather is used for it, it is significantly more expensive than recolouring but definitely would be a better job, especially if the leather is worn after 70K miles it's probably not a great base for repairing.

    • @OCDDetailing2021

      Thank you for your comment. For automotive leather to get the most optimal finish, I mix 70% of top coat matt with 30% of top coat gloss and 3% of hardener. If you use top coat matt only , then this finish will not look natural it will be too matty like chalk finish.

    After the repair is the leather supple? After repair....Can you use Meguiars Leather cleaner for normal ongoing cleaning and feeding of the repaired "painted" leather?

    • @OCDDetailing2021
      @OCDDetailing2021  2 года назад +1

      To keep the natural features of the leather, I only spray enough paint to fix the damage; coats are light; if there is too much paint applied, the leather loses its natural softness in touch, so the amount of paint is essential. In the case of dry or hard leather, I leave it for the day and apply Colourlock Leather Protector ( conditioner), sometimes it takes a few applications within 2-3 days, but it feeds the leather and brings it back its softness. I use Colourlock products for leather care, but Megiuars are good products, too, so they won't cause any harm.

      Thank you. This method works also on furniture leather real and artificial, if all proces is done correctly, the colourlock paints have excellent durability, the seats from the video are in a Daily car and they still look perfect. It wouldnt make sense to do this job if the result wouldnt last.

    Amazing work, congratulations! Question: Would the paint fade off with time? I painted once, and after one year, the paint was gone...thanks.

      Thank you , it all depends , in this case i restored layer of color and top coat , so repair like this will hold well for minimum 2 years in a daily car, of course it the process is done correctly. From the owner I know that after year and half from repair the seats were still in good condition,. Sometimes I also use diy method and durability of that is about one year, but in this case wear only shows in the most used places but overall the paint doesn't go off fully.

      The durability of this kind of repair is about two years, It may start to slowely wear on the most used places like bolsters etc.

    That's a very impressive finish you achieved, well done! But I do wonder how long this will last after the seats are being used again regularly. Does any of the improvement work get 'worn off' or otherwise affected, revealing the old cracked condition?

      Thank you , it does last as long as its maintaned properly, in this case after 2 years of daily use there were some signs of wear but still in hell better better than before I started with them. Overall the producer states roughly 2 years of durability for a daily used cars.

    Ok. How does this work on my P2 Volvo with duo colour leather seats with contrasting stitching?

    • @OCDDetailing2021
      @OCDDetailing2021  Год назад +1

      Of course in this case the job will be more demanding but still doable. You spray one colour first, leave it for a few days, mask it and spray the second colour. When it comes to stitching, you can mask it with masking tape, or there is also a gel that you can apply on the stitching, paint it and peel off the protective gel. I use tape.
