I would never realize how much work gets put in for restoring just one seat! The result is amazing! 👍
thank you !
At first I thought it was impossible to restore, and they had to accept the unfixable cracks, but you got them looking like new. Professional job
Thank you
Great job! I did my seats on my V50, same colour. But I did not have a spray gun, or heat guns to dry. So I cleaned the seats with Auto Glym leather cleaner and magic erasers, which really lift the dirt, and prepped the seats with very fine sand paper, then filled in all the creases, and allowed the filler to dry. Then I gave the seats another light sanding, and cleaned of the dust with a damp micro fibre cloth. Then I applied the leather colourant with a clean cloth, allowed it to dry, then applied another coat of colourant. The colourant I used had a satin finish when dry, and did not require a final coat of sealant. The entire process took two days for the whole car, including leather inserts on the door cards. It took longer because I had to let each process dry naturally. But the results were AMAZING, like a brand new interior. Two years have passed since I did it, and now they will need doing again, but only the front seats, as I do not use the back seat. So the back seat only needs to be lightly cleaned. 👍
Thank you. Yes, it is a very satisfying job, with a spray gun, it is a good bit easier.
Where do you buy the colourant?
@@AJSmithtwins The scratch doctor, on ebay.

Absolute masterclass, what a transformation!
Thank you very much
All very nice, if it weren't for the fact that you have to sit on the seats.
@@wilhamcobly3805 Thanks for the comment, but I am not sure what you are trying to say.. properly restored leather can be used normally; these seats are from daily cars, there would be no point doing the job if the repair wasn't lasting.
Excellent video! Your skill and knowledge are worth every penny
Thank you very much
Finally some guys that know what they are doing

Great job on those full leather seats. I am interested in techniques for pleather (vinyl) and cloth combination seat upholstery, like the older Volvo sport option seats. Do you have any major advices for cleaning, prepping and painting such type of seat covers?
Thank you. If you would send me some photos I would be able to give you some advice. If you wish, contact me by contact form through my website www.ocddetailing.ie

Obejrzałem wiele filmów ale Pan jako pierwszy pokazał ze po utrwalaczu 4000 papier idzie. Zajebista robota. Ja swoją pierwszą renowację skóry zaczynam lada dzień. Materialy kupione pistolet kupiony czekam na urlop.
Dziękuję, papier 4000 nie narobi żadnych rysek, a wygładzi powierzchnię. Udanego projektu życzę, renowacja to bardzo satysfakcjonująca praca.
@@OCDDetailing2021 napewno wykorzystam wiedze z Pana nagrania.
Outstanding. I would love to learn this skill.
Thank you. To be honest, the process is not overly complicated; you need a small bit of set-up, If I was to learn it, I would start with black seats and standard black leather paint, leather cleaner, sanding pads, degreaser, filler, heat gun and spray gun or airbrush, this set up is not expensive but would get you going, I have many videos on my channel about leather restoration, you can learn a lot of from them, put in it practice and I will guarantee you, you will get great results!
Amazing ❤
Thank you
Great job,,
Thank you
Can this be done without a spray gun and just a sponge or rag to apply color?
Yes, it can also be done with sponge, however it would be even more time consuming if you tried to do whole seat with a sponge. Here is video that I use sponge to fix a bolster ruclips.net/video/lAfDhtIObtQ/видео.html for small areas this method is absolutely fine.
Looks fantastic very professional, I’m just wondering how long they last with average use
Thank you, the repair once done correctly should last minimum two years in a daily used car,
Looks great wish you were around me if I ever needed leather repair
Its very easy to do. All you need is time and patience. You can buy the products you need online, quite cheaply. You don't need spray guns or heat guns, but garden sprayers can be used if need be. I just used magic erasers and leather cleaner to clean, and Micro fibre cloths to apply the products, and let each stage dry naturally. Do your front seats one day, and the rear seat the next day.
@@hermanmunster3358 thank for the info I appreciate it my seats are ok was just saying if I needed leather repair yours looked great I have a scratch on my leather steering wheel that I will eventually bring some place for repair
@@hermanmunster3358 did you remove your seats, or just leave them in?

Brilliant video, do you have a link to the sanding foam pads that you used?
Thank you , Sanding pads are available here ocddetailing.ie/colourlock-leather-sanding-pad-p-37.html
Great job. If I wanted to restore my beige seats and dye them to something like saddle brown? Could I follow your steps and just use a different leather dye colour?
Thank you, yes you can follow these steps, it may only take 1-2 extra coats of paint.
well done !
Thank you
I'd rather reskin it but nice to see there's alternatives
Thank you for a great video! I have a 1999 Volvo S80 2.0T with simelar seats. I wonder witch product and sandpaper you are using? Thanks again! Grettings from Roger in Norway 😃😃
Thanks Roger, for all restoration jobs i use Colourlock products, sanding pads with 400 to 600 gradations.
Nice job.
Thank you
Great job, very theral.
I have to ask how long before it wears down, what I'm trying to ask is, whether it will hold for long like the original or a lot less!? Thanks
Thank you very much. If the process is performed correctly and the leather is maintained with the right products, this restoration will last for a couple of years in a daily used car, these seats were done about a year and a half ago; the car is a workhorse, so it is abused a good bit, but its owner has a good idea about maintenance, and so far the seat sill look very good. s
Eine gute Arbeit von einem guten Team!👍👍 Viele Grüße aus Deutschland
Vielen Dank, Grüße aus Irland 👍
Can this method be used on seats with heating elements? Or does the heat cause unwanted reactions with the filler and paint?
Yes, you can restore heated seats this way. The heat from seats will not have any harmful effects on the paint of fillers.
Where are the cleaner, filler., paint and hardner avaliable please? How durable is the paint? Do u usually need to replace foam first? Great video. Thank you. Ur a true craftsman!!
Thank you, if you serach for Colourlock or Geist you probably will find supplier somewher near, we are based in Ireland (www.ocddetailing.ie) the durability of the paint stated by producer is about 2 years for daily used cars, i weekend cars it lasts way longer, or if maintened correctly also will last longer in a daily car. You would only need to replace the foam if its worn, in this case there was no need.
Wow, incredible results! 👏👏. Will this last long? Well the filler ever give up and show the old wear that was filled? Just curious as I'm getting ready to pay somone to do the same repairs on my front leather seats but am worried the results won't last. I'm very good at maintaining good condition leather. The truck I just purchased with 70k miles was neglected so I can't bring it back without restoring/ repairing. Thank you!
Thanks Justin, as long the process is performed correctly, the durability of repair like this is about 2 years in the case of a daily used car. What this means is that after 2 years the paint may start to wear on the most used parts ( bolsters) , considering the quality of leather these days ,I think its not bad durability. Proper maintenance will extend the lifetime of this repair. In the case of a truck, if it's going to get heavy use, I would look into reupholstering and making sure that a good quality leather is used for it, it is significantly more expensive than recolouring but definitely would be a better job, especially if the leather is worn after 70K miles it's probably not a great base for repairing.
@@OCDDetailing2021 great information, I greatly appreciate your input! 👍
HELLO, thank you for your amazing videos.
I wanted to ask you about the top coat, it is MAT or glossy? and what is the formula for a matt top coat please?
Thank you for your comment. For automotive leather to get the most optimal finish, I mix 70% of top coat matt with 30% of top coat gloss and 3% of hardener. If you use top coat matt only , then this finish will not look natural it will be too matty like chalk finish.
After the repair is the leather supple? After repair....Can you use Meguiars Leather cleaner for normal ongoing cleaning and feeding of the repaired "painted" leather?
To keep the natural features of the leather, I only spray enough paint to fix the damage; coats are light; if there is too much paint applied, the leather loses its natural softness in touch, so the amount of paint is essential. In the case of dry or hard leather, I leave it for the day and apply Colourlock Leather Protector ( conditioner), sometimes it takes a few applications within 2-3 days, but it feeds the leather and brings it back its softness. I use Colourlock products for leather care, but Megiuars are good products, too, so they won't cause any harm.
Fantastic, sir I have a CREAM ITALIAN leather two piece five seater settee(3 seater and a 2 seater) and was wondering if your techniques would work :)
Your reply would encourage me to fix this up and save myself a few hundred BUT would the chemicals involved out weigh the cost of rebuying ?
PS how hard wearing/practical is this restoration is IT EYE CANDY ONLY or IS IT TRUELY DURABLE :)
Thank you. This method works also on furniture leather real and artificial, if all proces is done correctly, the colourlock paints have excellent durability, the seats from the video are in a Daily car and they still look perfect. It wouldnt make sense to do this job if the result wouldnt last.
Nice job ☝️
Thank you
Excellent 😊
Thank you
My jaguar xe 17 white leather has turned yellow I parts.
Absolutely no content online on how to restore. Some say even perminate 😲 not sure if you have any examples of how to fix?
Im based in Australia other wise id drop her around to you
Amazing work, congratulations! Question: Would the paint fade off with time? I painted once, and after one year, the paint was gone...thanks.
Thank you , it all depends , in this case i restored layer of color and top coat , so repair like this will hold well for minimum 2 years in a daily car, of course it the process is done correctly. From the owner I know that after year and half from repair the seats were still in good condition,. Sometimes I also use diy method and durability of that is about one year, but in this case wear only shows in the most used places but overall the paint doesn't go off fully.
good work i injoyed
Thanks you
Good job
Thanks you
hi nice work on leather. quick question- how long does the treatment last before needs doing again. thanks
The durability of this kind of repair is about two years, It may start to slowely wear on the most used places like bolsters etc.
Amazing jog !!!
Thank you
Very cool
Thank you
looks good
thank you
That's a very impressive finish you achieved, well done! But I do wonder how long this will last after the seats are being used again regularly. Does any of the improvement work get 'worn off' or otherwise affected, revealing the old cracked condition?
Thank you , it does last as long as its maintaned properly, in this case after 2 years of daily use there were some signs of wear but still in hell better better than before I started with them. Overall the producer states roughly 2 years of durability for a daily used cars.
Excellent
Thank you
Amazing
Thank you
Ok. How does this work on my P2 Volvo with duo colour leather seats with contrasting stitching?
Of course in this case the job will be more demanding but still doable. You spray one colour first, leave it for a few days, mask it and spray the second colour. When it comes to stitching, you can mask it with masking tape, or there is also a gel that you can apply on the stitching, paint it and peel off the protective gel. I use tape. You can see this done in this video: ruclips.net/video/54lhunHODZo/видео.html
