    Proud to hear the german song (Te Deum Laudamus) Grosser Gott wir loben Dich -Herr, wir preisen Deine Staerke. It' s the original (by Ignaz Franz 1771). If you want to feel the power of the song search for koelner dom (Cathedral of Cologne) and Grosser Gott wir loben dich... (for example:Allerheiligen im Koelner Dom starts at 4.35)
    I as a German have absolute respect for all the Kennedys (John Fitzgerald, Robert, Edward (Ted), Rose and Joseph).

    No because the subject "I" was singular, as "and any other person..." was an aside. Also, the subject is, you know, the subject of the sentence, the person or thing performing the action, the object is the recipient of said action. In this case the indirect object would be "you", falling into the case known in synthetic languages (like the Romance tongues) as accusative. Glad I could clear that up for you. Have a good one, bro.

  • @alwellus

    The tempo is being done in nearly cut time - way too fast! In my years of experiences as church organist, I have found that in large buildings, singing not done in "English Tradition" results in echoing that produces a muddling of sounds. You can barely hear that muddling in this song. Also, there are only three verses that are normally used.

    Losing Senator Kennedy was like losing a grandfather. He did so much for the poorest and least fortunate among us in Massachusetts and all of America, despite being born into privilege few could imagine. I can't think of anything more Christ-like, as Jesus gave up the glories of Heaven to reach out to lowly, undeserving sinners like you and me. I bet he's clinking pints of Guinness with the apostles now as we speak.

    Two things: People who dwell on the transgressions and mistakes of others must have an extremely limited view of the Mercy of God. Also, when will the TV talking heads learn to stop talking over the beautiful music and hymns of televised weddings, funerals, etc.?

      @sueanneconley3661 9 лет назад +2

      It must be wonderful to be such a privileged human who knows the mind and mercy of God! I guess you figure that bit about "he who is without sin cast the first stone" doesn't apply to you, or that God's mercy is limited. I also believe you haven't read or if you did, you don't comprehend Luke 15:7 "I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance." Maybe it's time to brush up on God's message??

    One minor quibble: in the context of the liturgy, it was inappropriate for the celebrant to refer to Kennedy as "Senator Kennedy." Earthly titles are mere affectations, and have no place in a sacred liturgy; instead, he should have been referenced simply as "Ted Kennedy."

    Catholics are, in general, such bad singers. Give me a good Episcopalian or Lutheran congregation belting out hymns. Maybe cause so few songs in most masses? Rare to have organist?

    • @James_Bowie
      @James_Bowie 3 года назад

      Good point. Even at Mass on Christmas Eve in the cathedral, when all the carols are familiar, the congregational singing is quite poor. I blame it on lack of choral singing in schools these days.

    If I was Pope I'd fast track him to canonization. He was one of the last people in Washington who actually gave a damn about those who work the hardest and have the least to show for it. He made mistakes, and at any point he could've given up, ducked out of public life and lived quite well. But he didn't, he endured ridicule by the press because he so sincerely wanted to help people, because that's what Jesus commanded us to do in the Sheep and Goats discourse, and elsewhere.

    Only in America does a funeral get commentators as if it were a football match. The final straw was when they were giggling at the end, totally oblivious to the solemnity of the occasion and devoid of any respect for the fact that a man was dead. Everything is sport\comedy\entertainment in the United States. Even death.
