JFK was born to a life of privilege. He did not have to join the Navy. He certainly did not have to go into a combat role. He had plenty of health issues which would have been a reasonable excuse to not enter politics. He served with honor. He certainly wasnt perfect, and if he was in politics today he would be heavily scrutinized. However, he sacrificed for this country. He asked what he could do for this country, not what this country could do for him.
A man who had many faults but truly cared about our country. A man who did more for a America than arguably any other senator of the past 50 years. It was nice to see him enjoy one last moment in the sun. Let there be no doubt he was key to Obama get elected. This is coming from a Reagan conservative.
Ryan, I agree with you. I am a loyal Democrat, but we are all Americans and we are friends. Our only difference is that we disagree politically. But we are here for each other. Take care .
Caroline, that was one of the most moving and loving tributes that I have ever seen. Senator Kennedy and your entire family had always helped make our country better. Many thanks to all in your family who have been a champion for the underprivileged. You are a Princess of a lady. Every good wish to you and the Kennedy family.
Pepe, Regardless of my feelings toward President Trump, I will always feel that Mary Jo could have been saved. The Senator is the one that had to live with his actions.
Pepe, I respectfully disagree with you. If you are responsible for someone’s death, you must he held to answer. Just remember that people of privilege have different types of punishment. I have always respected the President of the United States, no matter who that person is. President Trump has my respect, I just disagree with his views. Pepe, we are all Americans.
From Jackie Kennedy's thank you note to Ted, who'd walked Caroline down the aisle at her wedding "On you, the carefree youngest brother, fell a burden a hero would beg to be spared.. .You are a hero. Everyone is going to make it because you are always there with your love."
A truly great man. It's sad our country was never smart enough to elect this man President. The Lion of the Senate will always be remembered for his service to our country.
neondeion12 I want a guy in office who is actually able to make bills happen, make important legislation happen, make change happen - I'm not here to vote Ted Kennedy to be the perfect man ever, that's not the point, the point is finding someone who can be an effective president in moving the country forward and Ted Kennedy was good at that, he is one of the few senators who have been capable of making an impact in this country and its legislation, the progressive steps this country have taken all have him be a part of, so yes, I would want him to be president - he has his faults, he has his mistakes, he has things he's done wrong, but in the area of politics where we need someone who knows how to be effective, I would rather have a million Ted Kennedys
To those who show disrespect to Senator Kennedy this morning, I feel sorry for you. To all those who show respect this morning, you know we have lost a champion of civil and human rights. To those who did not know Senator Kennedy, your life has been positively impacted by this wonderful man. RIP Senator Kennedy
A PERFECT SPEECH. Ted Kennedy. RIPP (REST IN POLITICAL PERFECTION.) A Superman of the Common man. The most important Champion of the poor in 100 years. The REAL President. The REAL Dealmaker. The man who went to WORK. And did more work then them ALL. A True American. A True Irishman. A Lion. The only True American political dynasty that mattered. The dream lives on Ted. Thanks to you. God rest your super-caring soul, your work is done here.
The disrespectful comments to this video in light of Sen. Kennedy's death is just unbelievable. Take your hate elsewhere. RIP Ted Kennedy, the dream lives on.
Great senator at first I didn’t like him until I researched him I liked him. I wish he was President today he wasn’t partisan just like his brother John. Too many people today are boxed into a right or left position. That’s the funny point really I respect Ted Kennedy and today I miss him badly ten years ago I wouldn’t have said that. Rest In Peace Teddy!!
Not just that, but Kennedy got things done. All that on top of his constant and ceaseless interactions with the general people of America. Not the do-nothing-Democrats of today who just talk in woke speech codes to distract the masses while they create as much distance as possible between themselves and the general people.
thank u so much Ted. im heartbroken that i'll never get to thank u for all u've done in person. thank u so so much. GoodBy3 ps: tell bobby and jack i said thank u to them as well :')
The problem we have in the Senate is that we have either voted out or failed to replace our Senators who had enough crediability with the opposition, to make a deal and strike a compromise. Both parties need folks who's reputation is such that the folks on the other side of the aisle knew a deal could be brokered, a promise would be kept and a bill could get passed. We needed our Howard Bakers, Our Robert Doles, our Ted Kennedys and our Hubert Humphreys to break deadlocks, and partisan logjams if we wanted a congress that could do anything.
13 years later, from Ted Kennedy’s tribute, you can tell that despite everything he went to - and that Washington did to his family - the man was one of the very few who truly cared about bettering the lives of Americans. Kennedy’s seat was safe. All of his regular - weekly even - interactions with the community, he didn’t have to do for show. It went far beyond that, unlike any politician I can name in the federal government in 2021. A shame where Obama took the Democratic Party. He didn’t “close the book on politics of race and gender and group against group and straight against gay.” Obama added a new section to distract we the people form the fact that “nothing will fundamentally change.”
I was born in February of 2009. Ted died a couple weeks after I was born. I obviously never got to know the man or seem him on the news, but looking back I can tell he was a great man worthy of respect and praise. He died at 77, taken from us far too soon.
Ted Kennedy has lived his life doing the work that a Christian is supposed to;feeding the poor, housing the homeless, educating the children, protecting the weak and healing the sick.
Long Live The Legacy Of "The Liberal Lion." The youngest of 3 brothers, the ONLY one to die of natural causes. A true maverick whom lived up to the Kennedy moto of "To whom much is given, much is expected." -- Senator Edward M. Kennedy. February 22 1932 - August 25 2009
Comparing Obama to JFK is like comparing Palin to Reagan, what a joke! And from his own daughter. What has happened to this country? Is this the best we can do?
All you people who are trashing Kennedy. Show some class for a dead person. what ever you think of his beliefs, there is no need to slander a dead man who is not hear to defend himself. You did not know him and he did not know you but he fought for you anyway. Make it seem you are all perfect. And as all who accidentlly caused a death, they will pay for it in their mind and soul even if no charges were brought. Leave judgments up to god.
Ted Kennedy stood for a lot of great traditional Democratic ideals, but he was also a man with many, many problems who often embarrassed his family and constituency. I like him, but he's the most inspirational figure the Democrats could drum up? I know the Kennedy name is still huge for Democrats, but this is inspiration? I support Obama and I agree with what Kennedy said, but how about someone who's actually inspired us before he had a stroke? I want more from this election.
Actually, Ted served a short stint in the Army himself. It wasn't during a war, but hey he didn't defer his drafting.... unlike many in the Bush administration.
Senator Kennedy has inspired me since I was a kid (way before he had a brain tumor, not a stroke, mikedrud). He's had a life of passion and integrity, as well as troubles, just like all of us and he's served all of us so well. Many people don't realize just how much of their quality of life they owe to Kennedy's efforts in his 46 years in Congress. No matter our views, we all owe him a debt of gratitude for devoting his life to our service, and I for one will never leave such a debt unpaid.
If Teddy were still alive and in the Senate, he'd be kicking the asses of the bastards who have Washington upside down today. He wasn't a perfect man, but how much we miss the old lion.
I'm appalled by some of these insensitive comments. This man was a truly great human being. You can't judge a person based solely on whether their political party supports policies to which you are opposed. To do so is dangerous and short-sighted, and it ignores the worth of every human life, I am a Christian, and I believe that men like Teddy or Obama have done far more good than some of the men who oppose abortion. Ted was honorable, kind, and selfless. Don't judge: look at the whole picture.

Senator Kennedy was the greatest senator in US history. He had his flaws...who doesn't? But no one did more to improve this country. I'm a Republican. Always have been, always will be. We NEED healthcare reform desperately & all of those morons at the town halls are simply dancing on the graves of those who have died because of their inability to get healthcare. It should be a right for all Americans & it is a disgrace that some are trying to prevent it.

Instead, he chose to commit himself to public service and to improving the lot of those less fortunate than himself. I believe the scales of history will weigh in his favour. R.I.P. Sir.
Gotta agree with everyone the 3 people after me said. If you think adopting a kid from Bangladesh makes up for pandering to everything Bush says & does is better than ACTUALLY supporting women, child, the education system, veterans rights, etc, I feel genuinely sorry for you. Adopting 1 poor kid doesn't make you a great person, dedicating your life to helping MILLIONS of people less fortunate than you does! The Kennedys are legitimate public servants and McCain's a delusional warmonger.
It's not being rich that's the bad thing, it's being rich and never earning a single thing for yourself helping others! The Kennedys dedicated their lives to helping others who are less privileged because they felt fortunate for what they had. John McCain was 5th from the bottom of his class at Annapolis, a slacker C student who lived off his family's reputation, cheated on his wife with a rich beer heiress and married her to advance his career. The difference is selfLESSness and selfISHness!
Angelina Jolie adopted a few kids from the third world. I guess that means she's an amazing person, right? I mean, the McCains picked up ONE, Jolie's got, what, three? Means she's three times as good as McCain by your logic.
Despite their wealth, Ted Kennedy and his brothers dedicated their lives to making America better for those less fortunate. Where is the fault in that? They are merely human beings, with human failings, but rather than sit back and enjoy a life of privilege, John, Robert and Ted Kennedy gave their lives to public service.
