I have the Menzerna and Collinite 845 applied to my black Mercedes and haven’t seen any issues so far. IMO those two works well. Flawless! The shine is great and water beads like crazy. Now that I have seen your video, I have to pay detailed attention to the application.
I live in the UK which is generally a temperate climate. Menzerna and Collinite work well for me and have no issues using them together. Since first seeing your video I have tried a comparison of just Collinite and Power lock separately on panels both perform well. however when applied together the durability is greatly increased. Thanks for the video Scott I hope my comments help.
Mark Rowe not all will see the issue but many will, just reading the comments below this video you will see that some have seen the issue. I'm happy you had great luck with the products and I do feel on their own they are great:) I get about 50 emails a month asking me why this issue happens when using these two products together and it was just easier to answer all the questions by making a video about the problem
I hear where you are coming from I guess. Collinite will sometimes sweat when applied solo, so I don't think it has anything to do with layering it with Jescar thou. Everyone that's had success with the combo seems to report increased longevity, so if it was the polymers repelling each other I wouldn't think the longevity would be greater.
Michigan here... noticed the sweating last year a few days after using the combination.. It just buffed off during a quick wipe down and now I know why. Just a weekend detailer for my own car so it didn't impact anyone but myself but I wish I had known before using them together. It is July 2024 now and I am getting ready for my annual car polish / correction and will use the combination again but this time I will start on a Monday and know to go back over the car on Friday so it is looking nice for the weekend. It was embarrassing last year to know I drove around for hours with the wax swirls showing on the car when the light hit it just right.
Dangit! Hi Scott, love your content, appreciate your helpful spirit, BUT, this video is about 5 days too late! You have nailed what I have been experiencing since Saturday when I used the Powerlock Plus/Collinite combo (three hours apart) on my wife's just delivered new X3. I am finding that the wipe marks come out whenever I try to use either the new Griot's Show Car detailer that I've been using for a couple of months, OR their Speed Shine that I've been using for almost 20 years. Neither wants to eliminate the streaking effect. Totally unimpressed w/this combo and won't be using the Collinite again in combination this way. So many people talking about this combo and how insanely great it is, but no one but you addressing a pretty obvious issue. Thank you Scott and please, for our sakes, keep up the good work!
I LOVE this combo, I use it on my personal fleet but I can totally see from a professional point of view, this would be really good to know. He’s not bashing this combo, he’s just looking out for other guys doing this for money and it’s a completely valid opinion.
This is new to everyone. I never heard that before, Obsessed use it all the time on is BMW. He never had any problems. If they are 2 polymer they should go together fine.
Great info Scott, I feel like as we move into the future, we are getting further away from having to apply thick waxes and sealants. It seems like carnauba might becoming a thing of the past, at the end of the day its a lipid, and oils/fats just don't belong on a vehicles surface. Recently polished my truck with Griot's boss finishing sealant and topped it with Ultima paint guard plus, what an amazing combo with no extra steps, and the paint feels slicker than I have ever felt.
I agree. My take is the solvents in the Collinite is softening the sealant causing the two products to just smear together, and because they don't mix properly you can have issues. IMHO only low solvent past waxes can be layered on some sealants. Back in the day Klasse SG topped with One Grand Blitz Wax, was a winning combo.
I follow 3different detailers here on RUclips and all 3 say these 2 are there go to products? I use these for years with no issues at all? I also saw a study on these two when used together and it came in positive? I’m confused?
I thought it was me not wiping everything off. I always see those at night especially with the high humidity here in south Texas. I thought it was all the moisture developing on my truck and my wax was protecting it
I use soft99 Fusso Coat as the base sealant and topped it with 845, no issues at all. Mind you it's on a silver BMW and silver is a very forgiving colour. I have heard other detailers say that sometimes 845 has a tendency to "double flash" for want of a better term so maybe it's just a trait of 845 and not the combination per se.... either way I have layered several cars with Fusso Coat and 845 with zero issues. And get 12 months durability easily.
soft99 Fusso Coat is the best paste sealant i have ever used, it beat FK1000p for the durability and IMO its on par with the looks. I tend to leave 2 coats of Fusso and just top it up with QD used as drying aid at every wash. So far so good and it has been 6m now. Never tied 845 as a toper as i think that PEFE components in fusso would not allow good bonding of top-heavy wax but again waxes tend to play well with sealants underneath it.
Lucas Kulawik Its a beautiful wax to work with mate. It states it's for darker colors but that's rubbish, it's stellar on any color. My silver BMW looks like a mirror.
I've had good results using Powerlock and ultimate fast finish. I think you did recommend this combo. Winter is knocking on the door so I'm getting my black 2015 Ram ready with the powerliock
Im glad I saw this video. I have a full bottle of the 845 and please tell me what sealant do you recommend to use as a combination with the 845. Thanks and keep us informed.
Seems like Drive’s Victory Nano sealant followed up with their Instant Gloss spray are simpler to use and likely play better together for that wet look.
I did notice a hazy effect on my car when I applied the 2 the next day but after a wash that effect went away, and now I have the great shine from the wax and great beading from the sealant. Definitely would do again
Christian Delgado I understand and that's cool, I could never put my client in that situation because it opens the door for me as a professional looking like an idiot telling them to just wash their car and the problem goes away..many people after a professional detail will wait weeks sometimes before washing again in the real world and I don't want the calls from my clients asking what the hell is happening with their paint..lol
It's the repellent properties of The Jescar. Ever notice after its applied put your arm hair next to a panel. This happens when any "good" sealant is topped with a wax. That being said I've never had any real issue when applied thin. But once again I agree with you. You aren't bullshitting. I stopped doing it and Just use Sonax BSD over the jescar as a topper. The Sonax used every couple months on top of the Jescar will get you 6 months of protection or more easy! Plus it looks really good.
Ahhhhhh, so I’m wondering if this is not an issue with the combo, but maybe a lot of folks are possibly applying too much product?....Glad I saw this...Going to apply the 845 REALLY thin and come back with a 2nd coat later if I don’t like the results.
I find that Collinite 845 in general will ghost regardless if it’s applied with a Sealant or by itself. Both are top notch products. Personally, I find that Power Lock + Surf City Garage Barrier Reef gives the best of both worlds in protection and gloss. And, this combo will not ghost, unless it’s 100 degrees out on black paint where all carnauba based waxes will haze as they melt in the hot sun.
I would challenge anyone that uses this mix to try a panel with the mixed method them a panel on each side of it the Power Lock and 845 respectively. They may just be suprised
MILINICH'S AUTO DETAIL he already knows the issue and even talks about it:) It's not a horrible issue for car enthusiasts just as long as they understand what's going on when it happens. I can't afford to have the issue with my clients vehicles.
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing Hi Scott, you can see tons of threads and comments online linking this collateral effect to the 845 when applied on its own and on a dark colour vehicle. I certainly didn't notice it on my silver car and I'm looking to try the combo in a weeks time. What do you think? Couldn't the holograms 2-3 days later be a Collinite 845 thing regardless of any underlying product? Thanks and love your videos, God bless you.
lol, the world revolves around matt & people daren't do anything without him, especially obssessing in only buying from his shop/garage rather than from other sources
Surprising this question comes up often. Not sure why people would want to use a polymer based product on another polymer based product?? Wouldn't you just want to add another coat of the same product? Or just do the traditional polymer topped with a carnauba? I've lost all the latest and greatest polymer and carnauba information when discovering ceramic coating 2 years ago
His point seems to be it doesn't cause permanent damage and could be eliminated with a wash etc. But he is coming from a business standpoint, someone pays good money for detail and calls and says somethings off his response as a business owner is not "I know, just wash it and it should go away" Not a good response at all
I use jescar sealant and use griots best of show liquid wax ..and let me tell you it was the best shine I've ever seen on a red metallic paint... was wondering if I would have the same success on a black metallic paint surface?
Scott I just bought my first Collinite 845 for the first time. There are just sooo many products it's very daunting to choose. But I saw the video from Matt and Pannnnnn the Organizer and they both recommended the The Jescar and Collinite. I almost bought the Jescar but didn't just yet until I ran into your video. So if you don't think these 2 should go together then what do you recommended? You can't put a video out saying that these don't well together and not make any suggestions on recommendations on how to solve it. Come on Scott. I almost got the Jetseal from Chemical Guys but now I may just use the Collinite by itself.
Nicholas Mangione you are absolutely wrong, the reason many of you are finding the ghosting effect or sweating is because most don't do a paint prep to fully insure a clean virgin surface before applying collinite even on its own. Collinite needs a absolutely clean surface and you could have residue from your soap, clay lube still on the panel before applying and you will see this issue regardless if your topping it over jescar. It's worse if you are topping it over any sealant and jescar really shows this effect over other sealants. I'm sorry but you need to see the bigger picture and learn the facts.
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing agree to disagree. I’ve used 845 for over a decade and even after a fresh polish and IPA or body shop solvent wipe down it’ll sweat if the humidity is high. My point is this...the “sweating” is a caveat of using 845. It has nothing to do with the fact you put it on top of PL+.
I live in a humid country and i find that even after full paint correction and clean some waxes sweat. I put it down to humidity and other environmental factors as I have tried thick, thin layers, different application routines etc etc
I have to agree with Nicholas as I'm in Arizona where there is no humidity and I've never had this so called sweating issue with this combo or using collinite 845 alone.
This is the truth. I have use it and you have to put just a little if not you will have problems. Nicolas is right about that. It’s not because you are a professional that you are doing a better job than everyone else. I found that when I go my clients because I care so much for their cars I do a better job than a lot of professional because I have the time to do it. When I ear detainers on RUclips saying if this clients as money for this product or so on its get into my mind and I loose it. They do the job twice faster than me and at the end my clients are seriously more happy than theirs.
Can you comment as to why collinite seems to 'ghost?' black cars I've seen it a lot recently and heard from others as well that it ghosts and that it goes away after the first wash.
DesertDetailing are you seeing a ghosting effect when used alone or when used with menzerna power lock? If you are seeing the effect when using collinite alone, it could be from something on the panel before applying the collinite. Always try use a paint prep before using collinite on the paint so you are guaranteed to have a virgin and absolutely clean surface. Collinite 845 in my opinion doesn't like any type of residue on the panel or using it on top of a sealant already applied to the vehicle.
I have them both ready to put on my white car after other videos from other pros. I will let you know how my experiment works out. Question, if you use the 'Power Lock' sealant what wax or protective coating do you find stable? Jescar Color Lock should play nice, but what others have you found to work in our southern heat and humidity (Houston, TX)?
JWL I have yet to get time to do that car. I did ask Matt at OG and he said yes it did spot up but a quick wipe cleared it up and no more issues or it would be gone on next wash. Thanks for following up and I think you will find a good combination.
@@MyGuyKirby ended up using fusso coat instead of power lock. Read loads about both and decide to go with the former. Worth checking it out. Awesome results and very glossy, so much so that I don't know if I'll add a coat of collinite closer to winter time. It lasts 12 months according to reviews, if it does 6 I'd be very happy.
Thanks for the update, I might try that later in spring. I have too much new bottles I have yet to try. Just now trying out the BlackFire One Step product on our red Camry. This way I will have each car trying out a different product line. Griots Sealant & Wax (dark blue paint), PowerLock & Collinite (pearl white paint), and then the BF with Beadmaker topping after wash.
@@MyGuyKirby I use BF polish/sealant bf900 all the time and it is incredible. Last 2 cars I detailed I put a thin coat of gold class carnauba plus on top and finished it with beadmaker. Deep smooth finish.
Hi Scott I have a Ford Focus RS mk2 I'm the ultimate Green, I detailed it last week the usual snow foam wash clay wash polish wax, this time I used Autoglym super resin polish topped with Collinite 845, now a week later I have noticed it has like little bumps all over it would this be a reaction, whats my best way to fix this issue now cheers from Australia
What is your opinion about adding short term protection of the same type (all polymer to all polymer or carnauba blend with carnauba blend) to a base sealant/wax? For example, after a month or two of a base wax, like Collinite 845, spray wax like Optimum Car Wax after a wash.
Hi Scott, I have Collinite 915 paste wax would that be a better combo with the Jescar Power lock Sealant? Or would it do the same exact thing as the Collinite 845?
Geez... collonite does this alone. It has to do with a multitude of other factors such as humidity/temp as well as manner in which Collonite is applied.. dry time, etc.. Has nothing to do with Jescar.
Maybe using Powerlock and a natural carnauba wax instead. In my opinion the Collinite 845 is more for boats than cars. If you use Doublecoat or D'Elegance it should not do that.
Tanti applicano questi 2 prodotti e ne sono contenti e non hanno nessuna reazione, forse sei tu che sbagli qualcosa sulla stesura oppure non dai tempo a Pover Lock di polimizzare.
I've been using both on my cars for years. The only time I ever had any issue was the first time I used the combo. I ended up applying way too much of the 845(PITA to remove) and I noticed that after the first day of sitting in the sun it looked like someone had sprayed small little drops all over the hood. Since then I use as little of the 845 as possible and haven't had an issue since.
funny about the comment on getting back to people, extremely difficult to run business, make and edit videos...thanks 4 all ur advise truly makes a lot easier and productive..thanks try 2 stay cool.......
Scott, not sure if lucky? I have a base coat sealant of Hi Temp topped with Fast Finish. Did I just luck out with those to polymers? Looks great on my Silver Acura RL.
Just like another commenter, I applied this combo this past Saturday to my brand new Black Jeep Grand Cherokee after all prep steps. I am SO disappointed in it. There are streak marks and the ghosting effect others are speaking off. I usually can spray some Wizards Mist and Shine (amazing product) but it makes this worse. Any suggestions as how to make this better? I haven’t washed it yet since doing the combo, would that help? thank you for addressing this!
I just ordered the Colonite wax, should I return it. I was researching which sealant I should get. What combo would you recommend. I saw many others recommend this combo. Should I just use the Wolfgang seal and wax? I never used a sealant or wax before.
Cant go wrong having some 845 on hand. If you Want a really good combo use Jescar power lock topped with Sonax BSD (after 2 hours). Top it off after that every 2 months after a wash and you will get 6-8 months of protection before you need to reapply.

Did you try the combo.?
wrong. 845 sweats on anything if applied too thick or if the humidly is too high.
If that’s the case the. Is it ok to top there Jescar menzerna sealant with Jescar menzerna color lock wax?
Power Lock Plus and Ultimate Fast Finish FTW.
Jescar Color Lock should play nice, but what others have you found to work in our southern heat and humidity (Houston, TX)?
thomkirby So, how did it go for you? Getting ready to lay both products on a silver car soon. Cheers.
Does anybody know, how long this combo will last, under normal conditions. Thanks for your help...
Hi Scott would Menzerna and Simoniz original work well together? When are you going to review or check out UK products like Bilt Hamber and Autoglym?
What is your opinion about adding short term protection of the same type (all polymer to all polymer or carnauba blend with carnauba blend) to a base sealant/wax? For example, after a month or two of a base wax, like Collinite 845, spray wax like Optimum Car Wax after a wash.
What about menzerna and beadmaker
Juancho Lanzalot they are both sealant.
Lets face the truth, you eat the 845 with nice juicy franks for breakfast
Weird, never had this sweat issue with the two combo out here in Ca. But..... I warm 845 before use, to get the thinnest coat I can.
Why go through all that trouble of warming a wax when others work better with less work
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing very true my friend!
Hi Scott, I have Collinite 915 paste wax would that be a better combo with the Jescar Power lock Sealant? Or would it do the same exact thing as the Collinite 845?
Scott what sealant would you recommend with the collinite then ?
Geez... collonite does this alone. It has to do with a multitude of other factors such as humidity/temp as well as manner in which Collonite is applied.. dry time, etc.. Has nothing to do with Jescar.
It's because you are in Texas, hot and humid.
Maybe using Powerlock and a natural carnauba wax instead. In my opinion the Collinite 845 is more for boats than cars. If you use Doublecoat or D'Elegance it should not do that.
Derek Munro double coat is the paste wax form of Collenite 845.
Would this be a problem when topping with a carnauba wax like p21s concours or 100% carnauba wax? Thanks scott.
I was hoping to see mustard use for paint correction. Darn it.
Excellent point!
Hi Scott, Can you do a video on some combo products that do work well together. Thanks
Missy H good idea!!!
He did, he likes Jescar powerlock and Meguiars UFF. In fact he’s a huge fan of UFF
Great channel!
I always use Dijon and have never had a problem 😭🤣🤣😂😂😂
I only use 845 collinite wax on my car
What's your company name and where is it?
dallas paint correction and auto detailing...dallas texas
Hey, Scott if you had one choice to put either one on your car which one would it be? Menzerna or Collinite? Thanks
funny about the comment on getting back to people, extremely difficult to run business, make and edit videos...thanks 4 all ur advise truly makes a lot easier and productive..thanks try 2 stay cool.......
Thank you for your knowledge Scott
Hey Scott really love your videos wanted to ask that if meguairs ultimate paste wax is a Sealant?
Ender King yes, even though it says wax it's actually a sealant since its completely synthetic:)
Thanks indeed have a good day! 😄
HA!!! I told you that you could pull this off Scott! Good job brother!
Scott, not sure if lucky? I have a base coat sealant of Hi Temp topped with Fast Finish. Did I just luck out with those to polymers? Looks great on my Silver Acura RL.
I am no expert but from what I have read whatever is in the 845 tends to strip any lsp put down before it.
Scott have you tried griots boss finishing sealant and Collinite together?
I have. Awesome.
Why have you disappeared from my subscriptions?
Robert Smith that's a bummer!
I had nothing to do with it but I'm grateful you are still here with me:)
Like Goku and Vegeta, they dont work together
Matt at obsessed garage started this bs trend.... Now everyone is doing it.
Faheem Zia yeah,I have never understood the following of Matt at obsessed garage! The guy is an over the top narrcasist!..lol!!...have you seen his 345.00 dollar wash buckets? You can buy identical buckets and accessories for less than 70 dollars,he has one hell of a mark up! Lol!!
Retired at 49 then you have not seen his 2000 pressure washer that he pushes...
Faheem Zia oh yeah I've seen it as well as his 4500 dollar wall mount pressure washer that he covets like a religious alter in his garage!!..lol!!...the guy is a piece of work!!..hes trys to tell people he has "ocd" but he doesnt ,hes a classical narcissist that because of his illness has to have the perceived best of everything and that's not "ocd" it just appears that way to him!...in one of his original videos he talks about he used to be in therapy but stopped going because he "knew more" than the therapist did!!..lol!!...he also talks about his inability to take advice from anyone!!...the guy is a trip!!...lol!!
@@number1pappy the guy even says in a video that he not your friend and does not care about you. He is just there to talk about his stuff. He also when he has spare items chooses to throw them away because he does not want to deal with Hassel. He is caind of a dick.
I just don’t understand why some folks would even order any detail products from this OG clown? The prices are really awful and ridiculously high....never have any sales/discounts (except useless items that he can’t sell) and charges FULL RETAIL PRICE on products that you can get (the SAME) elsewhere for 20%-25%+ lower with FREE shipping at the same time. Even if I have few pennies....I would never support a business that overcharges the customers. SMH as why folks would want to waste their hard earn dollar like that. It’s not like this clown is selling super “specialized” goods where you can’t get it anywhere else. Just my $0.02 cents!!
You are making it too hard. I mix Power Lock and Colonite together in the same bottle. It works well.
I wouldnt be caught dead with that mustard bottle. Gross!
why would you die??..its just a bottle and with its self cleaning tip, its awesome
obsessed garage army coming in 3...2...1...
Matt has addressed this as well, this isn't new. It just isn't a viable option for professionals that need to apply this to customer cars.
Lol!! Only took 2 hours lol!!...Matt's followers are like cult members! They will never let a chance to defend him pass! They all realize they have bought in to a shaky belief system and cant allow any thing to destroy there faith in there leader!!..lol!!
They are like crossfitters. Which ironically he also does who would have thought 🤷♂️

I want to try the DinoWax sermon boost! Here is a copy & paste from there website! "Serum Boost is the first product of its kind to combine the active ingredients of a ceramic coating like our Ceramic SerumTM, in a SPRAYABLE, wipe-on/wipe-off form." What's your take on this, if you have looked at it!
Total BS. He’s wrong wrong wrong. And what’s worse, you never mentioned a good match. SMH
