Scott, you've got the best detailing videos online!! Better than the big brands we use are putting out for sure!! I've been a car nut for about 20 years owning over 100 cars but I've just recently got into the professional level of detailing. The past 4 months I've probably watched over 100 hours of videos by professionals and brands. Your demos and explanations, while sometimes a bit long winded, are absolutely the most helpful I've found. Thanks and keep it up please! From Los Angeles.

Thanks for all videos and tips and instruction. Detailed my first car, my own 2017 Honda using products and procedures you use. Super Clean to wash the car tires and wheels. Chemical Guys original clay bar, Meguairs fast finish liquid wax with a Porta Cable DA, diluted Super Clean for the interior, diluted VRP on the dash and interior trim and door panels, and full strength VRP on the tires, next time I’ll cut it a little to get a matte finish. Citrol on the front chrome and bumper and on all glass to get rid of bugs. Lake Country 5.5 foam pads. I just used a white pad. Since it was my first time I didn’t want to use a cutting wax until I get the hang of it and more confidence in what I’m doing. Playing it safe for now. Tomorrow I’ll detail my 2016 Ford PU. Thanks again
Chemical Guys Glass Works for all windows inside and out. Everything worked great 👍🏼
    Thanks again

My dad never taught me how to do this. Anytime I picked up a tool or wanted to tinker with my own car I’d be told I was going to ruin something. Now that I’m on my own, I have the freedom to do whatever I want. I learned a lot of things from this video. Thank you.
Trying to search harbor freight but can’t find their store-branded tool you recommend. Granted it’s 2020 now. I’ll check out your other videos to see if you talk about proper DA sanders to choose for detailing purposes. :)

I just discovered your channel and am bingewatching, lol. I like your no nonsense, no BS approach. If we lived in the same area I'd hire you to do my car. Not necessarily because it needs it or I'm too lazy to do it myself, but to watch you in action and learn. There's no way I could ever get all your experience by myself since I'm a weekend warrior and only have two cars in my "fleet" to play with. But I do love to see rough paint turn great before my eyes, even if I tend to "overthink" stuff and get confused by watching the multitude of conflicting how-to videos on RUclips. Keep up the good work.

I haven’t used one since and was interested in buying a d/a to wax compound etc. The video was extremely helpful and to the point- no nonsense and knowledgeable. Thanks for the video.

    Hi Scott,
I recently came upon your channel and really like your vids. Thanks for taking the time to make them and share your knowledge. This vid is great, but the best part, for me, is at the end where you explain, in layman's terms, how to use the feedback from the machine to keep you on the right track. That info is worth its weight in gold. The one and only time I used my Porter Cable for paint correction was about 5 or 6 years ago and now I'm motivated to break it out and put it to use. Thanks again!

I use a polish called" Liquid Glass", it says it can be used with a polisher but I've never used one. I watched your video, and went and bought the 6" HF dual action polisher. Main reason is I tore my rotator cuff in a couple of places, so I can't polish my car by hand any more. I 'm going to try it out tomorrow, using the tips and techniques you show in the video. Thanks very much, the tips on pressure, and keeping the pad level will be helpful on my first attempt.🤔

For me it depends on the customer.
I have one regular, she insists that I hand wash and hand wax her car... Hose pipe no jetwash, hand wax no machine polishing. Its a noise thing, coz when I detail the other cars in the household theres no such stipulation but she will leave as I arrive.
She's the one paying me and shes happy with the result.

Hello Scott, your videos are quite informative. I have watched several of your videos where you're talking about letting the rotation of your pads get into "The Sweet Spot". You explained it by saying you don't want it moving so fast that you can't see the black mark that you made on a backing plate, and you don't want it to be going so slow that it's hardly moving around. But what exactly is "The Sweet Spot"? Would you please do a video where you put a black mark on a backing plate and show us what "The Sweet Spot" should look like? I'm sure I and others would be very appreciative seeing what "The Sweet Spot" is instead of just hearing about it. Thank you

why did harbor freight stop selling this little machine??? anyone know... i have a porter cable ,but would have liked to buy one of these... maybe they break and people kept returning them? i did go through 2-3 HF rotery machines when i first started boat detailing 12 years ago...

At 11:15 you talk about pad pressure. I think you should let the compound do all the cutting. Not hammering down on the polisher to create more friction. All you are doing here is adding more heat into the foam pad (destroys pads) and burning off the compound.

Great video. I'm a hobbyist trying to learn the best techniques. Picked up the Harbor Freight DA after reading a few reviews and so far I think it has been a good choice. Question: After the HD Speed process would you then apply a thin layer of wax for the additional protection, or just leave it be? Thanks again.

      @Al_Anon_Marly 2 года назад

You certainly could, but HD Speed leaves a layer of protection down Thats hydrophobic. I would suggest Turtle Wax Ice Seal and Shine (easy to find), or P&S Bead Maker as a topper if you wanted an additional layer of protection.

Hey Scott I enjoy watching your videos!!
I’m not a professional detailer but I am one step under that LOL..
I’m 42 but when I was 20 I used to clay bar brand new cars at the dealership right off of the truck and apply paint sealant in preparation for the customer..
I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali with almost brand new looking white paint from the factory..
I was going to wash my truck and then use a Claybar and I wanted to put some protection on my paint to keep it looking good.. I noticed in one video you talked about spraying paint prep..
How do I find paint prep?
I looked it up and I’m wondering if that would be similar to a bug and tar remover...
If so should I apply something like that to the whole vehicle and wipe it down after I Claybar it..
You know, before wax or whatever?
And then should I wash it again right before I wax?
I just want whatever I apply to stick..
Also after I use the clay bar and prep the paint I’m wondering what type of product I could apply that would last several months and also something that I could apply by hand..
I learned from your videos that carnauba wax breaks down at 140° and I live in south Georgia so I wonder what product I should get that would last a while?
Does HD speed last a while?
Is there some product by menzerna?
Can I find something at my auto parts store that you would recommend?
Or should I look into something ceramic?
Any advice would be much appreciated.. Please help lol..
    Thanks in advance

i am thinking of applying with DA and buying a special soft micro fiber or wool pad for my rotary to remove and then using a micro fiber to hit it once more... i used to do this years ago when i detailed boats...

You're Awesome!!! Love to listen to your tips and in-depth about all vehicles. Excellent!! like to know what kind of door guards, you know, people that just don't give a... when they open their door on your vehicle!?
I don't ever! not, care about another vehicle when opening my door. Need something that Looks sharp yet guards my vehicle. You have to know you sound like Howard Stern's brother love it!! Wish you were my teacher back in the days of school could have learned so much more.

Scott, thank you so much for your videos. I spent my Saturday night watching many of your videos. I have 2 questions. What can I put on my door seals to keep them from drying out and remain pliable. And what can I put on my door hinges to keep them from squeaking and binding. Thanks.

Once you're experienced using a buffer, there are things that can't be done by hand, so using a machine is better.

"It doesn't matter.....Well we're done...." HILARIOUS! Great video, though your vids require alot of common sense from the user....and I've found common sense isn't very common. Thanks for pointing out some great points in detailing!

Nice, Thanks for the tips, I have a really bad back, So i can't do this by hand or afford to pay someone, as i am on a Fixed Income. You have helped me and those in need. Thanks alot 👍,
Question, Did you open up your HF Polisher and Repacked it with a better, higher end grease? As others have done to tone down the grinding loud noise the HF Polisher makes?

Why did you hide the microfiber cloth, After applying the wax with the polisher the yellow colour microfiber cloth changed to red. Thats a lot of paint removed for minor scratches.

Scott, I recently came across your you tube videos and found them very informative. So, I have a question. I have a 70 Ford Mustang with a base clear coat. I purchased the Harbor Freight DA for polishing my car but, I am terrified that I would mess up the finish. I have other vehicles I can practice on but, I have not tried it on my Mustang. I am interested in the HD Speed polish you demonstrated. Where can I get it?
I like your videos and they reaffirm what I have been thinking these last few years about paint correction. I love it. Are you from the North East? Have a great day.
    Mike

I read somewhere that you can open up that harbor freight unit and re-grease the bearings. It's supposed to quiet it down some.

It's doesn't take THAT much longer to buzz over a car with an AIO or Cleaner wax really. Especially if you have a forced rotation polisher like a FLEX 3401. So yeah it can pay off in the long run as long as you aren't spending a long time doing it. Even if you buzz over the whole car in say 30 to 45 mins there will be a noticeable difference that they CAN see.
