This is so good that at 1:57 I realised I had started spontaneously cheering. I don't even normally listen to music. But it's a whole different story with this band. I first heard them about a month ago, I am fing SHOCKED by how good they are. Really on another level.
this is prison blues and how in gods name did 2 guys from akron ohio capture it. dan is one of the best guitar playres in the last 15 yrs,,he's playing to parts most of the time,,never see why anybody else never notices that,, the keys rule baby !
I always go back to this clip. It is EXCELLENT period. I still love the BKs but... I like them raw and unkept. Those people in the record store I want to slap. LOOSIN' up. Damn. I guess they didn't know how lucky they were to witness this?
no shit, right!? Rubber Factory is a perfect album to me for sure. Hopefully the next album might be more bluesy and well raw & unkept. "Chulahoma" Jr. Kimbrough's tribute album & Dan's solo album "Keep It Hid" are both right up there too. I NEVER skip a song on my iTunes with ANY of TBK's songs either, thats pretty damn rare.
Who filmed this? Where can I get more footage other than this and the footage from "Your Touch" ? D: D: D: This must be like their best performance ever. seriously, I shat my pants.
@9Esnuzan5 I definitely agree with you. I just finished watching a George Carlin special "White people aren't meant to play the blues" I just thought it was witty. I listen to Thickfreakness everyday, its a fantastic album.
@ryandude1994 Nah. It's definitely "left Angola." It is in the Robert Pete Williams original. It is in Captain Beefheart's cover. And it is the BK's cover. The whole song is about a guy going to prison and coming out a different (ugly) person. It'd be kinda strange to remove the prison reference from the song wouldn't it? It'd pretty much change the entire story being told.
@rabclotheslinesaga LOL, yah I have been strongly considering that. I just need to get guitar. But you'd be amazed what some people can do with music translations
ya ever been to the riv before.. hows it work.. is the floor open to everyone.. cause its sold out i dont want to get stuck being thrown into the seats
Grammys:This is obviously a rock band, but we have to nominate Tom Petty, Neil Young, and Jeff Beck because they put out albums last year. Grammy Intern: How about we put them in that category that we reserved for rock bands under 60 years old? I think we used to call it "alternative music" back in the 90s. Grammys:Great Idea
SO RAW... I am partial to when Dan was scruffy and not so polished... I love the BKs no doubt but this kind of performance makes you wanna say " DAMN" ... there I said it.
@ryli182003 They're in a frickin record store playing a Captain Beefheart song for a bunch of kids who are used to listening to crap. Plus, all of them are there watching, which I would have liked to have been. Cut a little slack.
nothing wrong with that brother, i do too. im a maggot for life...iv just never seen a 9 man heavy metal band perform for 30 people in a record store before. and i listen to a very wide range of music myself (not rap tho, i said music)
I miss this old Black Keys
I know right
Gustavo Costa too right...they were great until the 'Brothers' album
@@justinwiggy brothers album was great.
Mohamed Hosam I didn’t rate it.
@@justinwiggy technically you did, from the way you put your sentence together.
As much as I hate the algorithms, they led me to this. Easily the best I've heard of this song.
I've heard this live quite a few times, and this version is fucking amazing.
the only bad thing I can say about The Black Keys is that I didn't find them soon enough...pure brilliance.
Thanks for producing real music. Today, we desperately need more! Music is dying
DAN IS A BEAST ON GUITAR!!!!!!!!!
You say this as if it wasn't already known
So RAW! i love it
2 years later and I still agree
4 years after and i still agree
7 years later and I still agree
Also agree with you 7 months later
It’s always delivering
This is an all time performance.
2:08 restored my faith in music
The feels be strong in this one
Sometimes, I can't help but envision a mashup of this and "Whole Lotta Love".
Outstanding 😮
This is my favorit song of them!! So awesome!
This is so good that at 1:57 I realised I had started spontaneously cheering.
I don't even normally listen to music. But it's a whole different story with this band. I first heard them about a month ago, I am fing SHOCKED by how good they are. Really on another level.
Got to meet Dan after the show in Denver last week... im still speachless
Absolutely love this song!!!
god gave so much power to these 2 guys :)
This shit rocks!
Damn! I have GOT to see them live! I hope they come to DC soon
I am blown away by this song!
this is prison blues and how in gods name did 2 guys from akron ohio capture it. dan is one of the best guitar playres in the last 15 yrs,,he's playing to parts most of the time,,never see why anybody else never notices that,, the keys rule baby !
Looking forward to catching them in Seattle next week. Wish it was a smaller venue but should still rock
Holy shit
👌🏽💯
wish i was there... i go to this place all the time in Nashville! i live only like 30 mins away!
Me in my slipknot shirt at 1:03 :)
FredericktheGreat89 you lucky fuck
You should be ashamed of yourself. Triggers me every time i see you in it watching this. Such a waste
@@SuperCragster calm down, it's only music.
LOL at wearing a Slipknot shirt to actual good music.
welp, this bought tears to my eyes. absolute beauty.
Absolute Perfection! Glad I got to see this one!
Really love these guys!!!
My favorite song by them... ever
It helps to watch this video 1492 times over!!
This hits harder than the album version. One significant difference is that they’re playing this with a straight rhythm, rather than swung.
Blues is strong in this 1
Sweet, thanks for putting this up. I've been looking for a good video of them doing their awesome cover of this awesome song.
bestes cover von welt von bester band von welt
@NiiickMuse conversely, everyone there was honored to hear them play.... I love them for stuff like this.
Only Dan and Pat can see and twist the Invisible Knob of Awesomeness...
sweetest ibanez ever!
love the black keys!!!!
Total squares watchin this awesomeness. I would be spazin out!
That's a sweet Gibson! Sounds like a million bucks!
now THAT.... is emotional drumming
Let’s start a tour
so nice. so freakin nice...
i pray they play this song when i see em nye in chicago :)
I would pay to see one other video of this same live performance
Good lord, what pedals/amp is he using to get that sound? Absolutely delicious.
I wish cool bands played at my local record shop!
ive never heard drums sound so good
awesome, thanks for putting this up
Love it!
I enjoy watching him play when he's possessed by the guitar.....
excellent vid!...
2021 🤠
THE BEST BK MUSIC - i lie it and 2008 year. 2010 and now.. off
TBK @ BONNAROO! WOOOO
Straight up

This would go great with The White Stripes' 'Ball and Biscuit'!
aint fucking nothing like some good blues in the morning
it sounds like he's playing 3 different guitar parts at once...fucking badass.
@redmoondelight
No pick. He's using his thumb to hit the bass notes, and his finger to pick the individual notes.
Great Performance. They need to sometimes bring back some non-single oldies
Good cover on Beefheart.
Who filmed this? Where can I get more footage other than this and the footage from "Your Touch" ? D: D: D:

goddamm this song is ten times better here live than on the album
'She said my man has been gone from 1942 and I tell you Mr. Ugly he looked like you!'
A big inspiration for me. That video is my "Junior Kimbrough"-kiss. Great style for white blues music. SG RIDER
so fucking good
DO not compare this experience with something mainstream from tv, radio, etc - its the premiere league of musical expression.
its raw as fuck and sooooo good!
@ryandude1994

@BluesmaNeedham that ain't a Gibson. It's an Ibanez lawsuit SG
0:54 when you get caught looking at the camera
Awesome recording! I really love that. It is better than the Captain Beefheart-thing. One love
great
@bassminusb not a gibson its an ibanez lawsuit copy
actually, that's Dan's white 70s Ibanez lawsuit SG with maestro tremolo,

@chaseduran He's picking up the slide
Forget the breast and a wing the Black Keys are the best 2 piece ever
whoa. Patrick with no glasses on!!! :-O
If you look at the crowd, you can clearly see one guy's face melting.
@Timeconsumer9 I bet he's using the green Muff.
If youre high at 2 in the afternoon, get a job.
After a long day of work i love to roll a rillo and jam this shit
Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the Jesus with a guitar
my speakers can't play this song loud enough. in fact, i don't think any speakers can. i swear, this song is gonna make me go deaf.
@TKAA64 man! no - say it ain't so!
SO RAW... I am partial to when Dan was scruffy and not so polished... I love the BKs no doubt but this kind of performance makes you wanna say " DAMN" ... there I said it.
Anyone know which fuzz pedal gets closest to this sound?
