    I just bought a step-through Discover 1 city bike, and I think it is the best value in its class. It is a good bike to ride without pedal assist; it's a legitimate aluminum-framed bicycle. It conquers all the hills in my part of southern California.

      @@scotthardesty It's just like yours except for the step-through frame, and the knobby tires. The throttle is on the right side, for some reason, and the bike comes with a built-in tail light and automatic brake light. The Discover 1 even comes with a suspension fork. I wanted a solid city bike, but the Discover 1 can also handle moderate unpaved trails.

      Here are major differences. Aventure has a built in tail/break light (Nomad does not), Nomad has a more comfortable bike seat (I don't see me replacing it like I did with my Aventure). Aventure can do up 30mph when unlocked from Class 2 (Nomad does 26 when unlocked). Nomad claims 55 miles distance and my Aventure has only gotten about 36 (although I am 230lbs and ride with my tires at 17lbs). Aventure has a color display (Nomad does not) and Aventure is currently $500 more (due to the Voletric sale).

    • @Pantechnicon
      @Pantechnicon Год назад +2

      I've had one for a few weeks now and, imo, max throttle speed depending on PAS can be a good thing for some riders because it means you're not going to go balls out into an obstructed situation ahead of yourself if beginning from a slower (or no) speed. Rest assured that the relative throttle speed even at PAS 1 is more than sufficient to give you a strong launch from a full stop.

    • @kamalkanturs
      @kamalkanturs Год назад

      I got the bike, unlocked it, loving it. While throttle to PAS mode dependencies can be a good thing for new riders but it can't be taken out anyway, this what Velotric support replied me:
      "We do understand that you wanted to reach the 25 mph max speed without setting up to PAS 5. We regret to inform you that this is not an option that is possible with the bike since the speed is depending on the PAS level that you will set."

  • @Tinman710
    @Tinman710 6 месяцев назад

    Seems like a decent bike especially for the price but it’s weird that the throttle is limited to what pedal assist you’re in. Yes it’s nice when you can’t throttle in Pas 0 as a safety feature but other than that I think they should be separate things.

    • @scotthardesty
      @scotthardesty  6 месяцев назад

      I get that. I have reviewed many ebikes where the throttle is not dictated by the PAS level you are in, but I also get why they do that. Not everyone is good at controlling their speed when using throttle and they may just want to coast around at slower speeds. It's not impossible to feather a throttle to get it to the speed you want but this way it's much easier. Thanks for your thoughts on this!

    • @Tinman710
      @Tinman710 6 месяцев назад
