Watched many of your e-bike reviews. Decided on the Nomad. Appreciate the help deciding. I’ve only put 10 miles on it but it is a very solid and wonderful bike. Lots of torque. The new 2023 version has an integrated tail light in the fender. It also works as a brake light!
Great review, unfortunantly I bought this bike and just now saw your video. Waiting on the delivery I bought an extra battery just in case it goes dead before I get home. I'm 64 and bought it to get exercise.
Great video! One of my biggest fears is breaking down or running out of battery far from home. I’m glad things worked out for you and you got back home with a little battery power to spare. Once I ran out of battery on my heavy Cyrusher fat tire bike and had to pedal about 4 miles home.
That was aweful. Glad it wasn't both tires, just one is bad enough. I’m afraid of this issue as well. I have a Vitilan I7 pro with 20 X 4-inch wheels. So I ordered a _”foldable bead”_ tire and tube kit in that size from Amazon. It fits in the rear bike rack bag along with tools and a portable tire inflator. Now I literally have a spare tire just in case. I’m not worried if the battery runs out. I have plenty of back-fat that my body can convert to ketones for energy.
You are a SUPERHERO for taking one for the team and testing this bike to the limits! This is the exact bike my girl is looking to get based on your other reviews, and I can't tell you how much I appreciated you giving this bike a significant workout (and so glad the bike shop could get the flat fixed). Bought the Wired Freedom for myself based on your reviews too, so I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate the detail and the thoroughness of the work that you're doing. THANK YOU!! 🙂
I use FlatOut Multi-Purpose Tire Sealant in my 20x4.0 e-bike tires. I wish I had done the same for all the 'acoustic' (non-electric 😄) bikes I have had in the past. It saves on having to carry tools, tube/patch kit, pump. And pumping up these huge tires with a small bike pump would be a workout on its own. No flat tires so far.
When I got my Discover, the first thing I did was install Schwalbe marathon plus. Those tires are bulletproof. No punctures and 10k mile tread wear. I’ve run Schwalbe’s over 30 k miles without a flat.
Nice, I agree, I had those on a road bike and never got a flat for years. I wouldn’t recommend using them that long though haha, why I put new tires on the ride was soooo much better. Fresh rubber every now and then is a luxury and a treat, tires should not be overlooked
Super video and glad you made it home safe and sound! So good because commenting on stuff and observations helps me figure out stuff I really want, and don’t want, for my first e-bike! Thanks, you are great!
With your experience, I would expect that you would carry a stick on tube patch $1.00, tire levers $3.00 and a small (6"*1" dia.) pump in your saddle bag$5.00. We do get flats with our bikes, yet I have ridden flay free from Vancouver, B.C. to LA, Ca. with Schwalbe Marathon puncture resistant tires. Nice video, riding on sidewalks? Yet I do remember asking for directions from the beach area to train station and the LA police officer was shocked I wanted to ride a bike in LA.
As someone who is a big lad (6'2" 390 lbs) my biggest hurrah is the 440 lb weight cap. Must be a real solid frame. The one drawback is they don't ship to Canada so I'll need to make a quick trip stateside. Great videos - dig 'em!
Thanks 🙏, and yes it’s never a bad idea to bring tools, or a backup plan for worst case scenario. I don’t think any tire would hold up to a situation like that 😆. Also “slime” is an option some people roll with to “seal” a tube on the go.
I deleted my last comment due to my dumb self thinking it was the valve stem. I missed the part with the nail. This was a great review, and I'm still sold on this bike!!
Just bought one of these for my wife with your link and discount code. Thanks! We're down for a little sun in Escondido and I had to put the brakes on FedEx cause they were going to deliver it a day before we made it back to north Idaho. Fast delivery! Price with the rack\basket package was $1360 plus tax. I might try it out to run the dog once our weather warms up a bit. She runs with the side by side during the winter....😊
Dude, this was so entertaining. So happy I found this page. You should continue to do more of these adventures! Also, happy you didn’t just grab an Uber. Be safe!
Warning before you buy. You cannot reset the trip without resetting the odometer. Rey with Velotric support confirmed this is a known issue, and it doesn't seem like they plan to resolve it.

New to your channel but loving your videos. I was born in San Luis Obispo, CA and have lived in the Napa valley. I now live in Pennsylvania. I ride a Magnum 11 Premium folding ebike. Love it. It is very hilly here in PA where I live. My bike drops the battery power fast too once it gets below 5 bars. PS, I did see the Hollywood sign when I was visiting my daughter in Nov. who lived in southern CA at the time.
Consider getting a Multi-Meter to measure the voltage of the battery at 100% and other levels of charge. Charts are available that show what a X volt battery should read at different levels of discharge. This way you can confirm the claimed rating for the battery. Without disassembling the battery you can't know what cells are being used and, sadly, some of the Chinese brands are sub-spec. Considering that the battery is the single most expensive part of an eBike it should be the first item to examine when doing a product evaluation.
48 v nominal, will sag to 42 under load, with voltage sag under high use you can expect to see mid 30s on a 48v system. The second the load stops drawing it will 'rest' back to 48v
Such amazingly clear visibility with no haze in that region unlike what it was like on any given day back in the 20th century. Electric and zero emissions does make a difference.
I’m looking to do the same ride. A Rema TipTop or Park Tool patch kit and a tire pump or CO2 inflator would have gotten you home probably. I always carry them and a spare tube. All that would have been less than $45. That sunset was awesome.
After watching a number of "MTB ride that put me in the hospital" videos recently, I had to laugh at 13:12, "Damn, that hurts!". Not the bike for me, just curious, but a well done review.
I already bought some unheard-of brand called Vivi. It's a very solid bike but I like yours a lot more! Dang... I could sell mine after I get a lot of miles on it I guess. Who knows, maybe I'll love it.
if you hear something strange, stop the bike and inspect tires. you may be able to save a tube when something sticks your tire. also, a patch kit would be a good idea, or slime in tubes and a pump if patching isnt your thing. that may not help too much for a metal rod but may slow it down enough to get a ways before needing to pump again. one could also carry spare tube and tools but thats already annoying on a regular ebike rear and likely worse on a fat tire.
I ordered the Troxus Explorer last week using your promo code. Should be here tomorrow. Before I even think about riding it, I'm putting Flat Out in the tires. Stuff seems to have good reviews. I've had a couple of flats before and it isn't fun. Actually if you have AAA roadside assistance for your vehicles, they will come out, pick you and your bike up and take you home. It counts as a service call, but who cares if you are stranded and can't get your bike repaired.
Well that was dramatic! Now I am definitely getting myself a USB-charging air pump AND that magic liquid stuff that you squirt into your tires in order to (hopefully) avoid these sort of unexpected adventures!!! Then again, who doesn't enjoy happy endings!?!

"How am I gonna' get home?? HOW AM I GOING TO GET HOME??..... Oh... a set of Tesla keys.... That's nice....".... Sorry, but I laughed out loud at that one... Fate has a really crappy sense of humor....
😆
Hello dear friend I'm sorry 😅 don't has so much money 💲😊
I don't know how I've not gotten a flat.. All the crap on the sidewalks and roadsides.. I just cringe sometimes hearing and looking at the junk I've gone over . Lol no nails as of yet. I'm wondering if that nail was somehow related to some repair contractor doing work way up there and fell out of the bed of his truck filled with scrap wood.? How else does a nail get way up there and why?
Latch it😅
Wtf were those obstacles you had to dodge? lmfao
“I should not have came up here”. “Came” up here? Jesus!
