I'm fortunate enough to live 45 minutes away from Morrison/Red Rocks. We go to 5-10 shows a year there. It is truly a magical place for a show. Now let's mention how good the sound is there.....
The Main Squeeze really listened to “War Pigs” and said “let’s do that but make it sound like the Pompeii version of ‘Echoes’ by Pink Floyd.” Sublime job, as always.
These guys, man....it's annoying how talented every single one of them is. Not only do they show exceptional skill on their instrument, but they work incredibly well together. The result is perfection!
Odell Mateo As a drummer myself, I personally enjoy listening to the way he’s playing it. I think he did a lot of things in this song very well, but I do agree that he keeps the intensity up way too high for the entire song. It’s a great piece of drumming to listen to, but I think it detracts from the song as a whole. As a drummer your job is to serve the music first. Some songs constitute a lot of complexity and long fills, but I think he overdid it on this one.
It may have just been the mix. That was obviously straight from the soundboard. I thought it sounded great. If you watch him on have a cigar, they are in a small room and he plays very low key and restrained.
No only is it the audio from the console’s outs, it’s mixed and mastered in post. You can achieve an amazing quality of sound live nowadays but it will always have a “raw” feel about it.
That's quite an achievement to alter this sacred song the way they did it. It's neither a blind cover nor a reinterpretation. Instead, it both preserves the original and extends it in an organic way.
Dick Tater That’s why it’s great! If I wanted to hear War Pigs, I would have listened to Black Sabbath. These guys bring something different and it’s great!

Great energy and feel on the end lead with the guitarist..he has to be atleast 6'5"..lol loved it all! Bravo!
Sounds a bit like Deep Purple playing Sabbath , but in stead of having a full blown screamer to on vocals they’ve got a guy who can really bring some of that big bluesy soulful feel of the original . Absolutely blinding cover !
