My pleasure, I really do regard you as one of the best companies for customer service and that should be rewarded 😊. It's a massive learning curve and I've had some challenges so far but I LOVE it!!
I have just found your channel, because I too have just purchased a Brother 380D. I have also just watched your other video after having the machine a few weeks. Many thanks, both have been so very helpful to me. I am now waiting for the oven glove sewalong... LOL.
Thank you so much for finding my channel and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it! My skills with the embroidery machine keep growing and growing, you will have so much fun with it I am sure. I’ve done lots of embroidery on jersey recently with great success and birthday cards using appliqué! The options are endless. Thanks again and if you have any questions, I will try and answer them for you! 🧵😊
Hi Carole, thank you for your lovely words. The finished embroidery C you did looked lovely. What a fab machine. So please we were able to help you with your decision. Happy creating on your lovely new machine.
Thanks for finding me Irena. Once I got your Brother thread it was so much better and I have lost count of the amount of Mickey Mouse's I have had to embroider for the family 🤣. I love the Artspira app as well. You are right, it is addictive. Thanks so much for your encouragement and help 😊
Thanks Diane, I am as you imagine a little bewildered at the moment especially as I have had a minor disaster with a project but it was just down to the machine not being threaded properly!! 🤪(well I hope so anyway!). 🌸
Hi Carole. Congrats on your new baby! I'm so impressed that you just jumped right in and tried it. Sounds a whole lot more fun than my method of reading the whole manual first before even trying to turn on the new machine. Hope you enjoy creating lots of great things with the new wonderful tool, Antonia
My method was really naughty. I should have read the manual first you are right and now I have got the initial test out of my system I will do just that! Thanks so much for your good wishes and watching 😊
Thank you!! I have thought long and hard about whether I can cope with one but I am sure I will learn. I am very excited now to make things for everyone 😂
Thanks! I love it so far, yes I have had a couple of disasters but I think that's due to me. I can't wait to get properly into it to add embellishments to think is make. Thanks for watching. 😊
Congratulations Carole! Welcome to a whole new world. It's exciting! It looks like you have a sewing/embroidery combination machine. You're going to really enjoy it! ❤
Thanks Grace. Yes it is a combo machine as my 2 yr old Janome isn't all it was cracked up to be so I'm hoping this could be better as well as doing embroidery. Space is very limited in my sewing room 🤣. I may come to you frequently with questions 🫣. Hope your Monday went well 😘
@@socarole66 Absolutely Carole! Let me know if have any questions. I would LOVE to help! It can be overwhelming at first. I would advise you to take as many embroidery classes as possible if you find them on RUclips. Enjoy! 🥰😘
Hi there Carole Diana from down under out of curiosity and not trying to be nosey roughly what did you pay for that lovely machine, I'm going to buy a Janome 5300QDC on special for $1,549 any idea what it is worth Up there, yes I know it's not a embroidery machine but you did say that you are a Janome buyer, enjoyed your holiday photos ❤ as much as I enjoy your blogs. Oh yes to your question came back to UK in 1979 left the country on the weekend Lord Mountbatten was killed, going through security is a whole story on its own.😮 Sorry I have waffled on take care 🎉
Thanks Deb, I have to say I am impressed with the Brother so far. I may swap it over as my main machine for a while to see how it compares to the Janome. I just love a pretty stitch don't you?! 🌸😊
I had a Husqvarna Designer I sewing/embroidery machine when they first came out years ago and I had a variety of hoops and attachments for it. It was a beautiful machine but I was so intimidated by it and never really used it to its full capacity. Now I have a Brother Innov'is BQ1350 machine which is so much easier for me to learn and work. Can you add or download other embroidery software to your machine?
@@DebsWay they both sound fancier than mine but I just wanted a small starter one. As you say, the bigger and more complicated the more intimidating. This machine can link to WiFi so yes, you can add more designs etc with it which is exciting when I get bored of the standard ones. I have been having fun with it this morning so no housework has been done 🤣. Have a lovely day xx
One thing I always wanted to embroider but never did get around to doing was to embroider some nice towels for the bathroom. Nope, never did get around to it. Enjoy learning the in's and out's of your new machine!
Hi Carole you will be embroidering everything from now on. I have had one for oh so long they are a lovely add to all your sewing room. just make sure you get good backing.. have fun.xx
I really think I will Shirley, do I have the time I wonder?! My poor family for the next year at least are going to have a lot of embroidered gifts I think! I take your advice on the backing thank you and hopefully have some in the post right now. Thanks for your comments 😊
How exciting! I keep looking for a embroidery module for my Bernina, but I’ve always been scared to get sucked into a wormhole of embroidery hehe, I don’t need to get any other collections haha. What a fun machine, I like the fact it shows you where it’s at in the design 😊
Thanks Adam, I am afraid this is going to eat a lot of my time! I do like the fact I can just go and make a cup of tea, cook a meal etc and it just beavers away without me 😂. Surely you could do with another machine?! Think of the personalised bags you could make 😉😂. xx
Thanks Jennie, I can see I am going to waste many hours with this machine 🤣. Good luck to my family who will now be having many embroidered presents! Thanks for watching 🌸😊
Yay thanks so much! So far I am really impressed with it and for general sewing it is so much quieter than my Janome. Any hints and tips most welcome 😉😊
Oh you need one in your life! Especially with the new little Star Wars fan, there must be millions of Embroidery designs out there to suit him (and you!). Luv ya xxx💖
Correct stabilizer, a good fresh needle, and quality thread are the key ingredients to a successful project. There are tons of youtube videos out there to get you going. My local sewing shop sells Isocord and Floriani threads for embroidery. I have seen bundles of thread for Disney projects which would be a great way to start building a color palate of thread. I bet you can find some online from Brother.
Thanks so much for that info on threads. I have some stabiliser at the moment which seems ok but I need to build a colour palette of thread for sure. I will look into those brands thank you. It's all so new to me so far 😊
Hi Lynda, it certainly seems addictive already... I'll just try one more design.....1/2 hour later and no housework done 🤣. I can't wait to fully understand it though. Thanks for watching 😊
So excited for you and your projects ahead of you with your new embroidery machine. It will open a world of possibilities for your creative talent! Enjoy!!
Thank you! So far I have only done wash cloths and a couple of those ended in disaster but I'm learning with every project 🤣. I can't wait to really use it and do some lovely things for the grandchildren 😊🌸
Carole, you will love your new machine and will soon be embroidering everything that you make. I fell down the rabbit hole of embroidery designs, there are so many companies selling designs, it’s dizzying trying to keep up. I have a couple of companies that I use, but there are so many. Good luck on your journey, you’re doing a great job , it looks like a great machine. Have fun!
Thanks Sue, so far it seems there are enough designs but I know that won't be the case after a couple of weeks 🤣. It's dangerous the fact you can link it to WiFi then off you go down a rabbit hole as you said! I have so much to learn, I just need more hours in the day 😆. Have a good week 🌸
Welcome to the world of embroidery. I taught myself during lockdown by watching YT videos by Power Tools With Thread, great for building confidence and avoiding panic when things go wrong.
Thank you! Oh I am so enjoying it and like you, I've learnt lots through RUclips videos but I will definitely check out the channel you mentioned. Thanks for watching 😊
It’s my 60th later this year Carole and for it I am getting a new machine, my current one is a cheap one from Aldi, it’s great but now I’m a bit more of a proficient sewist I want to up my game and this one looks just the ticket, thanks for sharing 😊
Oh wow, that is something really to look forward to this year! I will let everyone knows how this machine goes as I plan to use it for general sewing initially as well as I am not altogether happy with my current machine. I do have a £99 one though which is a 'spare' and to be honest it is great, of course it doesn't have a lot of gadgets but it does the job as I am sure your Aldi one does. Thanks for watching 😊
Congrats Carole I have the earlier version of this machine it’s great especially when making for grandchildren you will love putting their names on everything, Christmas stockings, book cushions, memory bears it’s endless. And the Disney patterns are endless so many choices another great video
That's good to hear Olwen, thank you. I think I may be making a lot for everyone in the family! There is so much to learn as I expect you know so I am just going to take it steady, so far so good! 😊
Oh the fun you’ll have with this new machine! When Marianne and I were walking the different booths at the Expo, she noticed a few embroidery kits and machines and asked me if I had a machine that could do that. Unfortunately I don’t, but I’m now super intrigued and want to investigate! Thank you for sharing yours! 💞
Hi Izzy, I desperately wanted to look at the machines at the show but just not the right time with everyone there. I just found this one by looking in my latest sew magazine and went from there, having those Disney options was the clincher for me! I have wasted many hours today playing with it, I can see no housework being done for days 🤣. I will keep you updated. Have a great week 🌸❤️😘
I thought that you were getting an embroidery machine! I have a Brother V3 and just love it, you will have great fun with yours. Happy to help if you feel you need any. X
Hi Babs, great to know you have an embroidery machine as well! That looks an amazing machine you have. I have just a 'starter' machine to see if I like it and use it. I've enjoyed my time with it so far.... well apart from one or two disasters 🤣. I am still waiting for some thread to come so I'm limited at the moment. Have a good week 😊🌸
How fun! A new toy!!!! 😄 YAY!!! I heard you mention something about a new machine a couple of videos ago, but thought I missed what kind/type you said it was. I'm still trying to get to know my Baby Lock Crescendo, which is primarily for garment sewing. I went to buy a Baby Lock Jazz II machine because I was quilting then. Got talked into buying the Crescendo and the store threw in the Jazz II machine for free. This was during the height of the pandemic, so I think they were doing whatever they could to stay in business and not shutter their doors with a lot of merchandise. The Crescendo is a VERY complicated machine and does almost everything but wash my laundry! LOL! I believe it has something like 26 different buttonholes! I'm a very long way away from getting an embroidery machine, if I ever do. Have a very wonderful time playing and getting to know your new machine! Can wait to see what you make with it on #FridaySews posts.
Hi Dori, wow that Crescendo looks amazing but as you say, very complicated! I didn't mention what machine I was buying, keeping the suspense 😉😁. I can't believe you managed to get a machine for free but those were very different times weren't they. So far so good with it, a couple of hiccups which I will show on Friday 🫣. I know it's a starter machine but I need to know whether I will use it or not, it does seem much better for sewing than my Janome though. Thanks for watching 😊❤️
thanks , just got mine first time today using it. wow luv it. ant done embroider yet but will do next. got to sort out how to move between the sewing patterns yet but working on it again thanks. subscribed
How fun!!! You are really going to enjoy that for your grand children. I have a similar model. I never owned a Brother before either and I love all the features like the needle threader. I wasn’t interested in the Disney model because my husband worked out there, as a musician, for 35 years. So it’s not so much me, but he is tired of seeing Mickeys face on everything lol. Enjoy your new machine I can’t wait to see the things you create with it. You are so creative.
Thanks so much. Not surprised you didn't get the Disney one, I would have thought 35 years of seeing those mouse ears was enough 🤣. My daughter and her family are obsessed by anything Disney so it seemed the obvious choice, it's no different from your machine apart from that I understand. So far so good with it, I have never had a Brother machine and I am impressed. That needle threader is just amazing, neither my Babylock or Janome one match up to that. It's a game changer for me. Thanks for your comment 😊
Machine embroidery can be either really fun or really frustrating. But either way I love it! Wait till you start buying designs. They can be addicting.
Thank you Susan, yes I have a feeling it will be, I have already had a disaster 😂. If I find the solution I will be sure to share, I think it is just a case of not threading it properly which is very often the case with all sewing isn't it!? I am pleased with the two things I managed to make straight off though. Glad to chat to someone who has a machine, thank you!
Well, I think I have got it then I have a disaster!! Ah well, hopefully it was just a threading issue 🤞🏼. It is certainly going to be fun making things for the little ones . xx💖xx
I bought the PE770 more than 5 years ago. I've used it maybe a dozen times. My goal this year is to learn how to use it and "to use" it. The expo's stabilizer class was very helpful with embroidery. So glad I can watch you and learn.
Hi Linda, that is a shame about your machine so I really hope you can use it a bit more this year. It is having the time mostly isn't it? I would love to have done a class on stabilisers as that is a whole new world to me, interfacing I know but that is so different! Keep me updated on how you get on and on my channel I will be sure to share what I make. Thanks for your comment 😊🌸
Hope you enjoy your embroidery machine I have one but not Disney I have done a couple of things but I’m not very good at getting the wording big enough or getting it in the right place so need to spend more time practicing 👍
Thanks Sandra. I am not setting my sights too high, just the odd bit of decoration every now and again. There is a lot to learn I think! This machine is the same as the 370 apparently just with some Disney logos. Thanks so much for watching 😊
It looks scary now, but you will be a pro in no time. Look forward to your creations. Really like the top you are wearing. Could you share the pattern number? Thanks. Happy embroidering.
Thanks, every time I use the machine I get better and I'm having so much fun with it. The top I'm wearing is just a simple one, NL6246 in a cotton jersey. I'm just about to make another actually 🤣. Thanks for watching 😊
How is your M380 machine I just brought the same machine last week from Echidna sewing Australia they are only about 15 to 20 minutes from where I live I love this machine Gary has a few videos on the Echidna Utube channel
I do love my machine and got so much use out of it recently doing some Disney designs for my Grandkids. I found the Echidna invaluable when I first bought it with all their ideas and reviews. Can't believe you live near to them! Have fun with your machine 🧵😊
Can I suggest when you thread machine guild the thread through the numbers with pressure foot up Gary Echidna sewing did explain that in his video then when you to use the threader put the pressure foot down
Hi there. Thank you so much for your comment. I always thread my machines now with the foot up, I may not have done in this video but I was very new to the process then. Although I have sewn for 50 years this was something that I was never told! I have put a couple of videos out since this one and I promise you I have improved a lot with this machine! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Hi Carole, i have subscribed to your channel just a quick one the Ausrtalian name you could not pronounce is said E-KID-NA. it's a little aussie animal looks a bit like a hedgehog hth Mike
Oh thank you Mike! I had no idea that it was an animal and just looked it up, very cute indeed. Thanks so much for taking the time to tell me and of course watch my video 😊🧵
Do you follow Amanda Rolfe? She's an Australian sweetheart that quilts and sews occasional garments. She has a few videos with her embroidery adventures. She's a Disney fan as well. She's had her machine similar to yours about a year. Her friend from the UK sent her a bunch of embroidery threads but I forgot where she purchased them.
Hi Noemi, thank you for that recommendation, I will search her out. She sounds like my kind of lady, Disney, makes garments and embroiders!! I need all the help I can get with this new venture. Have a good week 😊🌸
Hi Stephanie. Thanks for your comment. On the Disney designs so far I have been very pleased with the results. I've done lots of Lightning McQueen, Mickey Mouse's, an Ariel and all good. That sounds very mysterious and I would try and get in touch with Brother if you can. Have you tried other designs and does it do the same thing? I have just searched your problem and it does mention a couple of things. Upper thread tension too tight and fabric not secure enough in the frame with a good stabiliser. Either of those help? 😊🧵
@@socarole66 thanks for the fast reply. I’ve done some designs which I have uploaded to the machine via usb and they have came out beautifully. Just the odd disney design I’ve been disappointed with. Do you always have your tension set to 2?
@@stephaniemain2832 that's strange re the USB ones working. Yes I have my tension set to 2 so it can't be that. I only use brother thread and use a cutaway stabiliser most of the time. Which designs are they?
Hi, I’ve got this machine I’m trying to register it but can’t find the machine number! The numbers on it have letters in but the app won’t allow letters. Wandering if you can point out where to find the number I need if you know. Many thanks Denise x
Hi Denise. I am nowhere near my machine at the moment but I'm sure I used the QR code to 'talk' to me phone and it told me how to enter the number. The number came up on the screen? Then I had to enter a PIN code etc. let me know if this helps 😊
I am not an expert but one thing I learnt this it is all about the stabiliser. Different fabrics require better and more stabiliser than others so you would need to find out what is best for sweatshirting. I intend to do some myself in the Autumn. Also having the sharpest needle will help and good quality thread. The thickest I have done so far is towelling but I personally wouldn't hesitate to do sweatshirt fabric on it. The best advice would be to contact Brother themselves. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your lovely words Carole, can't wait to see what you sew up!

Thanks for watching 😊❤️
thanks , just got mine first time today using it. wow luv it. ant done embroider yet but will do next. got to sort out how to move between the sewing patterns yet but working on it again thanks. subscribed
Oh wow, good luck with the machine. I am really pleased with everything I've done so far on it. Thanks for finding my channel 😊
Embroidery machines are addictive
Thanks Joanne, I am beginning to realise that! 🤣🌸
You’ve got this! Cant wIt to see some Disney characters on some projects soon!! How fun!!❤❤❤ hugs!
Hi have you found that some Disney designs when it outlines the design it’s out of line? Very frustrated with this and not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Any luck with the designs performing better?
Hi, I’ve got this machine I’m trying to register it but can’t find the machine number! The numbers on it have letters in but the app won’t allow letters. Wandering if you can point out where to find the number I need if you know. Many thanks Denise x
Hi Denise. I am nowhere near my machine at the moment but I'm sure I used the QR code to 'talk' to me phone and it told me how to enter the number. The number came up on the screen? Then I had to enter a PIN code etc. let me know if this helps 😊
@@socarole66 thanks Carole sorted now. Thanks for getting back to me xx
Is this machine strong enough to do hoodies?
I am not an expert but one thing I learnt this it is all about the stabiliser. Different fabrics require better and more stabiliser than others so you would need to find out what is best for sweatshirting. I intend to do some myself in the Autumn. Also having the sharpest needle will help and good quality thread. The thickest I have done so far is towelling but I personally wouldn't hesitate to do sweatshirt fabric on it. The best advice would be to contact Brother themselves. Thanks for watching.
