    Such brilliant videos, I am torn between this model and the F480 not sure which one to go for…..I was hoping you may be able to confirm something for me on your model, does it have the button I think referred to as the pattern end button, so when stitching decorative stitches, it doesn’t stop mid way through the pattern? Many thanks x

    • @socarole66
      @socarole66  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Karen. Thanks so much for your comment. I was not familiar with the F480 and what struck me is the hoop size is much bigger, that actually is the one downfall with mine. A year on with my machine I wish mine was larger than 10 x10 cm (4" x 4" ). I didn't realise when I bought mine though how much I would love using it.
      Re that button you asked about I don't think I do have that function and am currently away on holiday so can't check it. It's not something I've spotted though.
      I hope this helps but maybe the hoop size will be enough to make the decision for you. Good luck and Happy Sewing🧵😊

    • @socarole66
      @socarole66  8 месяцев назад +1

      Oh I'm excited for you to get that machine! So after some initial disasters I now you proper Brother bobbin thread 60 (whatever that means!) and also Brothread top thread. I buy Schmetz embroidery needles the gold version and the normal, I can't tell the difference. Yes they occasionally still break when doing some condensed stitching but I think they do a good job. They have 75s and 90s in the pack but I mainly embroider on light stuff so haven't used the 90's yet. I did a video a couple of weeks ago about embroidering on jersey which you may find helpful. As I've said lots of times I'm not an expert but whatever I'm doing at the moment seems to work 🤞🏼Thanks so much for watching and please if you have any other questions feel free to ask 🧵😊

    • @pennyleech2780

      Hi Carole, sorry I spelt your name wrong previously! I have been practising a few stitches on my m380d, I put one of the white pre-loaded bobbins in the machine (that came with the machine) and I put some gutterman thread on the spoil (same weight I think) I had a problem in that when I used the automatic thread cutter, it only cut the spool thread, the bobbin one wasn't cut, also the stitching wasnt perfect. After several attempts, I loaded a bobbin with the same thread as the upper spool, and it worked perfectly. Do you know what the free loaded bobbins are meant to be used for? No rush to reply. Thank you Carole

    • @socarole66
      @socarole66  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@pennyleech2780 hi no worries on my name spelling!
      When I started off using the Gutermann up top it didn't work for me either. I then used the Brotheread and it works a treat together. The pre loaded bobbins are for embroidery. If you want just to sew with the machine do as you would do normally. I would suggest you get some Brothread for the top as well. Hope this helps!

      Hi there, thanks for watching.
      It does indeed do normal sewing and it is so much better than my Janome machine which is kind of middle range. I didn't think it would be as a double machine but it is so quiet and does everything my Janome does but better! The only minor hassle is switching between embroidery and normal but that is just a case of swapping the embroidery cartridge over. I would recommend trying to test one out if possible. • @socarole66
      @socarole66  Год назад

      @@wendybullivant984 oh dear Wendy. I am not a machine expert and it does sound like you have a more upgraded machine to mine. The only thing I will say is I have been convinced before that I have threaded a machine correctly, blamed the machine and then found I either hadn't gone through one of mechanisms or the bobbin was wrong 🤣. Also I didn't realise this until Adam told me recently but you shouldn't thread a machine with the presser foot down as the tension wheels have to be open. Sounds like something is too tight or loose somewhere hence it stops after a few stitches. My go to in things like this are RUclips problem solving sites. I do hope by the time you get this you have sorted it!

    • @socarole66
      @socarole66  Год назад

      Just another thought, what thread are you using and are you doing embroidery or normal sewing? When I did embroidery, until I used proper thread I had real trouble with the machine threading. Also at step 2, you have to go to the right of the metal thin plate, literally next to the number 2. I did see that on another video.
