- How does Intel’s new 10th gen i3-10100 processor compare against the older i3-9100 and i3-8100 from the older 9th and 8th generations? I’ve benchmarked games at 1080p and 1440p resolutions to show you the gaming differences.
I’ve also tested a number of other applications including 3D rendering and video editing software suites like Adobe Premiere and Photoshop. We’ll also compare temperatures and power draw to help you decide which CPU offers the best value for money.

Great timing, great graphs, great audio. Overall a bloody good video. But I did miss the i5-10100F being not much more expensive than the i3 but having an extra two cores.
A moment of silence for i7 7700k users
Cry in i3 7350k @ 4.9ghz,look how technology has evoled
Ah yes rip a 3 years old cpu,
rip
@@JarrodsTech the i7 7700k is still 10-15% faster due to its higher turbo and increased cache. in games the min fps will be better with 7700k around 10-15 fps
i7 7700 is a full blown chip unlike this who has unsymmetrical and ill proportional disabled cores..
Jarrod. Are you okay? I don’t see a laptop ;)
Jarrod: What laptop?
I can use this in the Clevo that uses takes 10th gen desktop processors
the production quality is so much better than other tech channels. just the little things like labeling the specific thermal paste goes a long way trust wise.
Hi Jarrod, great video as always. Have always looked up to your channel for any info regarding laptops. I have one question though, the msi advanced bios option where you can enable undervolt, is it accessible in all the msi laptops or just some specific models of msi. Would be great if you can respond to this. Good wishes to you.❤️
p.s: other's reviews are also appreciated. 🙂
Thanks for including Cinebench r15.
Other reviewers have ditched it.
But it's still really helpful.
You need to make one for the whole family I already loved your laptop reviews and this was gold.
Hyper threading matters only for those who do:
-3d work, extensive photoshop work
-video rendering
-extensive use of compression/decompression (for some reason)
-extensive use of encryption/decryption (for some reason)
-MULTI THREADED programming
-gaming "the division 2", "ac odyssey".
-extensive use of excel with decent CPU load
Otherwise I guess average person just looks to the price and max single core performance.
So basically matters to everyone?
PC Software now is slowly turning to multithreaded approach and will utilize all cores (and threads) just like phones and consoles did.
Which will benefit everyone and take advantage of overall faster CPUs
@@hamoudy98productions not everyone. Doesn't apply to me)) single core programming + casual gaming and browsing. I don't care about hyper threading))
@Analyzing Male Slavery really? How so?
Also CoD Warzone. Pretty demanding on the CPU.
i3 10100 will be pretty usable for the next couple of years easily just because of the 8 threads.
Hey Jarrod! Awesome video with detailed comparison as usual! Can you review the Omen 15 with Ryzen? Thanks!
Yes
Hey Jarrod can you review the Alienware Area 51m R2 , thanks mate
which should i choose the Acer Nitro 5 with rtx 2060 or the msi gf65 thin with same specs at the 1000-1100 usd price range?
How did you measured the power draw?
Good stuff man!
Can we please get an updated comparison for the new i3's Jarrod?
Hello Jarrod can you make a review on Hp omen 15 2020 please!!
Would an I3 9100 make a good Cpu for a Windows media server for playing videos over network with VLC?
Hey Jarrod, nice video, can you review HP Omen 15 ?
Yes.
Jarrod! Did you forget reviewing XMG Apex 15 with 3900 AMD cpu ?
First of All, you have got a like on the video and a new subscribe for the channel
For reference: I ran a Core i7-6700k@4ghz with a GTX 1060 GPU and just upgraded my GPU to an RTX, so I built a "cheap" gaming PC for my wife around the 1060 GPU. I dropped an i3-10100 in the new PC with a cheap Asus 460 motherboard and it's actually quicker than my i7 6700k CPU even in CPU-Z. So be aware that for around 150$CDN you can have a CPU that is as good as a 450$CDN CPU from 5 years ago.
can you also throw a i5 10500H or a i5 9300H or a 8300H laptop so that we can know whether the i3 10100 performs the same as the laptop i5
Hey jarrod, how much performance difference is there in 48W and 90W laptop..
Also Acer nitro 7 or asus tuf a15 both 1660ti version... Thanks
Are you talking CPU power limits or what? I think in your last comment you said battery and I replied to it.
@@JarrodsTech i am so sorry, my notifications were off so i didnt notice😅 I noticed you haven't done any acer nitro 7 review so can you please advice me which laptop to take.. Acer nitro 7 or asus tuf a15... Difference in price is about $100 same specs
@@Chirag1327 Performance in laptops with same hardware most cases are almost same, (i mean with same power limits too). just temp will be lowe in Nitros case
@@Chirag1327 Go for Acer Nitro 7. Though specs are very similar, the screen isn't very good on the A15, and screen is what you should never compromise on (only to regret later). If you do have the extra money, going for the Acer Nitro 7 is sure worth it! (since you'll keep it for years :)

when you will review the omen 15?

I know that you might not see this but if you do can you please make a review of the Lenovo Legion 5i and compare it to the Lenovo Legion 7i

Can you a test? i3 9100 vs 10100 vs 10105?
Can you compare 9600k vs 10500 ?
And thank you for this very useful review. your follower from Iraq
No problem!
It would be nice if this type of comparison also includes an amd past benchmark with the same price.
But I would ask this. When was the last time AMD made a relevant chip without hyper threading? I mean r3-1200 vs 3200g or 1200af vs 3100. Will be a clear win for whatever chip is newer, since the first 3 releases of Ryzen have made such strong jumps in performance while Intel was, is, and will continue to be stuck on 14nm. You might find some of what your looking for on the GamersNexus channel’s CPU reviews
i3 is fucking up mid range i7 chips from 2 years ago lol
Why 1909 not 2004? More stable?
I have i3 8100, I wanted to upgrade to i5-9400f but white that i3-10100 it beats this i5-9400f, I should wait more options or amd
Idk how did you get CS:GO results, but I have pretty bad 1% on my I3-8100. even tho I have a CL11 dual channel 2400 16GB OCed memory with all timings and sub timings shrunk as well. It is not playable on my CPU.
Maybe you are still using old outdated benchmark map that does not reflect the actual experience in the game
Gpu?
@@kartikbhendekar5895 GTX 1060. definitely not the GPU thing. I played it smooth on MX350 laptop 15W GPU
Would you recommend a Ryzen 5 paired with AMD Radeon RX 570 or an i5 paired with a 1060ti?
ryzen 3 or i3 is plenty enough for those gpu's
there are no 1060Ti, and you can only see gpu bottlenecking with higj end card like 2060 super and 5600XT. Ryzen 3/5 and i3/i5 should be fine
@@waifuhunter9815 he probably means 1660ti
Damn. That i3 10100 performs way better than a few year old i5
Why not throw in an i5 to compare as well? You certainly have the data at hand.
Bro do a video on MSI TITAN WHICH HAS THE 10 GEN ON IT
Waiting on them to send it
9100F does not have video so I not sure it is fair to compare pricing with the others
I thought my i5 8300H will not be enough to handle AAA games, but seeing the i3 10100 is only 10% faster than my i5 8300H with DDR4 2666 2x8GB RAM, i'm sure i can hold it for an another year. I ran cinebench on my Dell G5 i5 8300H with undervolt @ -150 and i got 415 for single core and 2062 for multicore. This test was run with applications such as steam, skype, slack and with kaspersky internet security and VPN running on background.
Asus Zephyrus G15, and make comparison with fan covers removed, this will be the best prove, because you make really comprehensive tests. By far from my research this could be one of the greatest and small AMD laptops that can last if the overheating is overcome. Thank you! I really would invest in AMD but need more certainty, not because of AMD but because of Intel...
G15 still not available for me to test in my country unfortunately.
fun fact. the i3 10100 is as fast as an i5 9400 in gaming. Hyperthreading matters a LOT.
Hi jarrod can you show a video to overclock i7 gen 10
There are plenty of guides on overclocking processors on RUclips, I don't feel I have anything valuable to add.
@@JarrodsTech your explaining is amazing would love to see you make one but i understand if not

No doubt R3
@@kuthub1989 pff ofc fanboys always recommend amd. No doubt
@@eijmert Bruh, he used a Z490 motherboard because it supports higher memory clocks. A Ryzen 3 3300x will do ddr4 3200 on a cheap old b450 board and still out perform the i3 10100 on an expensive z490 motherboard.

Well rn in the UK, the ryzen 3300x on ebay is £40 more expensive than the I3 10100f, and the ryzen 3 3100 is no where to be seen sooooo, the 10100 it is
jarrod do a benchmark on AVX 512 instructions ryzen have only avx2 but intel have avx512 that is miles ahead in computation this benchmark would make ryzen cry
Lol, it's for Intel Xeon version, 10th intel core version doesn't have that 😂

The i3 10100 doesn’t sound bad after all, also would be nice to see how’s the temps with stock coolers, although it’s ok otherwise.
R3 3300X basically dunks on this thing
It doesn't sound bad until you realize that 3300x exists at the same price (and it's also better in every way)
Why would you not a 3300x? You can get vastly more performance for less money.
Geoffrey Straw
Parts availablity,
Here all the stupid people buy intel so the vendors never stock AMD processors much, and all the enthusiasts make the AMD parts go out of stock because they know what’s right for em, so you end up in a situation that you can either buy 9100f for 80$ or 3300x for 200$
@@hamoudy98productions can you overlock R3 3300x to 5.1Ghz becouse i3 you can ;)
wow my old i7 became a new i3 lmao
I picked the I3 10100 because everything else is sold out and its on sale for $100 so not a bad value.
I purchased the same off Amazon for $100. Think the price has gone up since I bought mine. Right place at the right time.
Its really buffles me on how a hyperthreaded i3 has a higher single score than a pure core i3. Good job intel.
on the laptop side, intel thinks they can sell 2 core 4 thread i3 vs 6 core 6 thread amd for the same price. Nuts.
Plz review hp omen

Jarrod'sTech ok
imagine building a budget build without a GPU and getting the 10100 *F*
i dont thin people are that dumb
Imagine you could actually buy a 10100f.
Good u are coming budget
Ryzen 3300x will give you higher mem clocks (in real world not 2080ti world :p) but I would really suggest that you buy 6/12 threads cpu these days instead of 3300x or the 10300
But either way it's a good deal
@METhOdhowtoKilLnoObS ok boomer
@METhOdhowtoKilLnoObS dude I said "suggest " and also said "either way it's a good deal"
It's just that in few years when games start to fully use 8 threads then there will be stutters and lags due to the fact that there is windows and it's stupid updates and malware scanning or may be running task like chrome etc
Obviously 10300 and 3300x both are flawless CPUs for gaming and other work loads but having few couple threads extra will make it future proof
@METhOdhowtoKilLnoObS I know $50 is a huge stretch but considering it will serve you better in coming years and will have a better $/year value cause it will last a year or two more than the 4/8 threads
Nobody know more than I do cause I use i5 7400 4/4 threads it's a pain now
will be decent with 1980's pacman XD
Im using i3 7th gen but now i upgraded to i3 10th gen
the 8100 costs around $200 in my country
Underrated channel..👍👍👍
Do not use a Z490 MB with a locked chip. Using faster ram is cheating and creates an unfair view of these chips. Amd however lets you clock the ram at the mid tier boards and gives you more performance per dollar. If you are going to test intel to intel still use the hardware most people would pair otherwise you have bogus data that isn't helpful at all.
Rip thise prices the 9100f can run you $200 atm im lucky i found one the other day for juat $100 brand new
