As a non-Christian, I'm of the opinion that Nero needed a great deal of early therapy. The evidence stemming from his desire for grandeur, his artistic arrogance, and his almost child-like rages indicate to me the possibility that he was a very insecure man with access to enough power to inflict his own pain upon everyone else. If he were alive today he'd be stuck in an asylum until he could hug a bunny without throttling it.
In year 6 our teacher told us we could write an essay on any hobbies we had and most kids picked things like gymnastics but my only interest at the time was history, (still kinda is) so I decided to do it on Nero and Jesus Christ, when you look into it the stuff he did was disgusting but I do believe a lot of it had to do with his mother aggripinia the younger and I think he had childhood trauma. I was like 10 though so I’d have to look back into it 😅
Actually, many historians believe that a lot of the supposed "Wicked deeds" of Nero,Caligula and the like, were probably just rumors spread by their enemies. Nero, in particular, probably wasn't near as bad as is often stated.
You christards deserved it though. You have done nothing but suppress science and progress and oppress gay and trans people. As a bisexual man I deeply admire the Roman Empire and it’s just attempt to eliminate your barbarian faith like the cancer it is.
well yeah Nero did this stuff and worse to Christian’s which is awful and crazy when you think abt the fact he’s not even regarded the most crazy emperor
@TheGemgem154 Actually, they were holidays that pre-existed. At least, Christmas was. The first Christian Roman Emperor chose to put Christmas on the date it is now because there was already a Roman holiday there and he felt it would make the transition to Christianity easier for his citizens to accept. So yeah, we wouldn't have the holidays, but the dates were pretty much chosen according to whichever Roman holiday they matched best.
@smartsingingurl finally someone who makes sense! but what bad things did christians do exactly? i havent read the bible and im only in grade 7 (at a non christian school :( ) so i dont know that much about it...
Yeah this hilarious skit was actually very spot on the accurate Nero really had a fetish for torturing Christians using them as candles in his Royal garden. if you think that’s bad enough Christians weren’t the only ones persecuted Jews were often persecuted by the Romans to both these two religions at the time were seen as insults. The Romans so anybody who worshiped one god both Christians and Jews were seen as insults to their pagan ways. The name Nero got in persecuting Christians will always stick with him forever is still being debated whether or not in the book of revelations John describes the end of the world and warns of a beast with two horns some say he’s referring to Nero some say he’s referring to watching out for The son of Satan. Basically Nero was so evil to the Christians that he earned the nickname called the Antichrist and he is an Antichrist. This was probably one of the first persecutions of Christianity under the Roman empire they were perfect scapegoats especially when the fires of Rome happened and Nero though evidence shows that he did try to help his people he still went out of his way to build a palace for himself bigger stretching in the places where homes were lost. So he uses the Christians as a scapegoat and with all the sick twisted brutal executions and lavishing enjoyments he showed to the people of Rome. By then many Romans were disgusted by that behavior were actually feeling really bad for the Christian’s in the end.
Well... you are right about Richard III. But the are schools of Roman history which suggest that some of the more disturbed actions of the Emps. were either falsley attributed to them or at least greatly exagerated. & as far as Nero being the worst person ever... You could certainly make a vallid claim. But, you gotta admitt that there is some pretty stiff competition for that spot!
@WardenAssassin funny how that person is like that reminds me of that crazy extremist church that pretty much, not literally, says "your all going to hell, become christian"
@jualkyn unfortunately that's just how the Romans were, but that's why we learn history, so we remember the mistakes we've made in hope that we don't make them again (even if it is disturbing)
@BiGMANJOE32 Jesus demanded his followers to symbolically commit the act of cannibalism. However if you think he could have turned that bread into his body than they where committing an act of cannibalism. Both are horrific to me.
I honestly think we live in a better world than one where it's totally ok for heads of states to dip people in tar and light them on fire. Besides, these guys are in no way saying that this is alright, they're just relaying historical fact
Ironically, while romans persecuted christians, the empire actually caused the rise of Christianity (Pax Romana). During the battle of Mulvian bridge, Constantine legalised christianity after he won the war when he took the Creitos banner to battle (looks like a cross with P).
Nah, Pol Pot is on the same rank and Kim Ill Sung of Saddam. Nero is eviler than Mao Zedong, Hiter and Stalin. I know the head count isn't the same but that number of people didn't even exist in Neros time.
@BiGMANJOE32 While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, ‘Take; this is my body.’ 23Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, and all of them drank from it. 24He said to them, ‘This is my blood of the* covenant, which is poured out for many. 25Truly I tell you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.’ Mark 14-22
@BiGMANJOE32 While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body.’ 27Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you; 28for this is my blood of the* covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I had never seen that one!!! Crazy people...
"that candle's just gone out, we need another christian x'D"
so nero kept faith to the original polytheism of rome/greece?
to the ancient world that is good
to the modern world i need a smart ass/arse answer....

Coming from a devout Christian
@MultiBelle22 its a joke >_>

What is Eucharist about?
It is not about consuming the BODY and BLOOD of Jesus to become more like him?
@jelly434 so you think christians being tortured is funny? im just sayin....
The pope runs the Roman Catholic Church based off the roman empire
