- At 3:58 AM our store was broken into, and thousands of dollars of merchandise were taken... my family and I have worked so hard... but we need to look at the bigger picture.

As an addiction counselor clients having to face the reality of where their addiction has taken them is the best thing that could ever happen. Being caught could be his saving grace.
So they caught the guy?? And he's got an addiction issue? What drug? Imo he's got without question...an issue with theft..... most drug addicts are out for cash... not guitars that pawn shops are going to be very thorough on..... sounds like the guitars are like all expensive instruments... exclusive to a very small number of musician that might show interest or want that particular guitar.... guitarist's are very particular...just way it is.... he stole one for himself one to sell or give to friends. I know he don't like the owner..... owner knows who it is. He's afraid of him.

She tried & tried but kept relapsing, and we are in the USA where our system does a horrible job of caring for those with addictions and/or mental health diagnosis, like our brains aren't part of our bodies! Never hesitate to seek help when you need it everyone!

We caught a burglar in our house one time. The reality is it probably wasn't the first time and won't be the last. If they aren't stopped it becomes a career. I'm thankful for our officers.

Look for him in store footage over the past week. he knew exactly what he was going for and where they were.

How sad! You and your family are such wonderful people who do a lot for others and that's a rare quality now a days. I'm sorry that some jerk decided to victimize your business you did not deserve his poor choice. I find the way you want to help this man even more touching . Alex you are a really special person and if this man is lucky enough to be able to talk to you in person i think you may have the ability to help and change his life for the better. He should be so lucky! I've been stolen from by a couple who I befriended and helped when they found themselves and their 2 teen age children and 2 dogs and a cat homeless and i gave them a place to live so they could get on their feet . They chose to do drugs do nothing to help themselves or try to improve their life to give their children something better and stability and just used me and upon my discovering they had been stealing my things such as jewlery and tools and my antiques left to me by my grandmothers and sold or traded them for drugs or pawned them broke my heart. I didnt call the police i ended up moving from my own home as they did not even contribute to pay me a single penny and my bills were becoming more than i could afford so i walked away. I later found out they had their children taken by child protective services and were charged with child endangerment. Sadly for me to discover i was their friend they were just never mine. I guess when i saw they couldnt even put their own kids first how could i have thought they would appreciate or value my help and generous friendship . That was a harsh reality for me to live with that is what drugs do to people .its been almost 2 years now but i did recently learn they have since gotten sober and were able to be reunited with their kids which gives me some peace at least for their kids. They have never to this day apologized to me and i don't know if they ever will which is fine. I didnt help them with any expectations from them and i would do it over again knowing what i do even now because hopefully they may have at least learned friendship isn't something you take its something you give.... Never change Alex you are truly a friend to anyone lucky to have you in their lives which is a valuable and precious thing to have. God bless.....

I remember when my car window was smashed and my stereo was stolen. I didn’t have the money to get another stereo as it was expensive to replace the car window. A week later someone smashed the same window but of course there was nothing left to steal. Fixed the window again and posted a sign each saying “stereo already stolen please don’t break my window again”. It worked and made me smile
Mary Blooms, they steal something and wait until you replace that item with a new one, then they come back and steal the new one.
It's a shame stereos can't be rigged to blow plutonium dust on the culprit. That would slow down the crime rate, hopefully :)

I love your heart. The show really wouldn't interest me. I love antiques but I've been doing this for years. What I love is your attitude. I have a small booth at an antique store and I do flea markets in whatnot. I do all my business and thrift stores. Yeah I could go to better places. But every dollar I spend goes to drug treatment or the soup kitchen I do all my business in East Bakersfield. Google it someday it's a real genuine ghetto. But when I drive down the street all these homeless guys wave at me 💙

He owed someone who had seen those guitars money, and that guy said they'd be even if he got them.

I hope so Nancy. Since Covid 19 hit and you lost Dave it has been a lot of sad stuff for you and now the difficulties with your addition and the robbery. However there are those that are just outright thieves and that is how they make a living and they are the ones I have little sympathy for.
Considering he was writing a bike and broke the window with his bear hands, he is most probably not a professional thief but someone whose brain is not functioning well, so that points to an addict.
I understand being forgiving and compassionate. One thing worth considering is his future victims. Next time he may hurt someone.
Of all the stores to rob...riding a bicycle with 2 guitars and not being stopped by the police, he probably lives very close to the store.

Deb T he will have a very hard time fencing those very distinctive guitars as well. They are now listed with full descriptions, and that goes out to every pawn shop on a list of stolen items to be watchful for. Pretty much anything he tries to do with them will increase the likelihood of him being discovered. I suspect he is fairly new to robbery, or he would have gone for items less distinctive and easier to get rid of quickly. It really is very sad🖤🇨🇦

I know what you're saying. My car got hit and run, by an old man who lives in the same building but the only evidence was the long blue scratches that showed up on his car the same day forest green showed up on mine and we both had broken mirrors (my drivers, his passenger). I didn't wish death but I hope the cheese falls off the next slice of pizza he tries to eat, his shoelace snaps first thing in the morning, he gets 2 flat tires at the same time, his dentures fall out in public, and his favorite tv show is canceled.

Just an observation, someone riding a bike somehow holding 2 guitars while doing it would stand out a lot on traffic and security cameras of other businesses

Thank you for sharing compassion! This is part of why I was drawn to your channel in the first place. It sucks your store was broken into. I think most people would just be like, "oh lock the guy up and throw away the key!" We need a lot more people in the world who have compassion. So thank you for sharing that and modeling that compassion so that others can see/hear an alternative to pure anger.

You have impressed me with your unconditional love. We went through a break in about 4 years ago, and this kind of forgiveness was never in our thoughts. It still sucks. We still don’t feel completely safe in our own home. It caused us both incredible heartache and anxiety.

Well, Alex, I hope you also realize that some people has been given all the help they needed, even it did not help. Some people just wont be helped, and others are beyond helping.
They need to hit rock bottom before they seek help. They steal because it's a thrill or they are addicts or they are resentful of what you have and they want it and think they will never have it. They want what you have, but will never get it so they steal.

Sad thing is if he had asked for help you would have given it to him. Remember there are people who do this because they think they can or everyone owes him. It may take him being in jail to get help. Holding someone accountable can be a good thing.

Unfortunately jail does little to rehabilitate people, the reoffending rates are so high.

Yeah of course, most "pro" criminals dont do random break-ins (anymore atleast), but do kinda extensive "scouting" beforehand so it wont take so much time when they go in, because they dont know what kind of alarms etc is there or how long the cops will take to respond to those alarms. Also if he have chosen the criminal path he kinda deserves to get a dog on him LOL dont be so soft on them.
If they have daytime in-store video monitors, this guy will appear in the browsers, since he knew exactly what he was looking for. My bet is that this is not a pro, but sole two guitars for his own. The guitars don't have enough value, and they are too easily traced, to be targets of a pro.
Randall Stewart true, but if he keeps them, somebody is going to know right away. Alex is a well known and loved person in his home town, a lot of locals watch his channel, and the word will get around fast. He won’t be able to pawn them anywhere nearby either. Basically he screwed himself.🖤🇨🇦

You guys have had a rough time the last several weeks and I am continually impressed by what good people you are and how you continue to look on the bright side of everything you encounter. If the world had more people like you, we would be better off. Hang in there. Good karma is a real thing and you’re owed a lot of it.

no compassion for thieves. My house has been broken into 5 times, had a truck stolen, a truck broken into, a jeep battery and stereo stolen. thieves are slime. Never has anything been recovered. I worked hard for my stuff. Thieves have no respect for you or your compassion
