Being a 11 year old at the time this era of football will always be my favorite. These guys were superheroes to me at the time. You had Manning,Favre,McNair and the greatest show on turf. Along with Brady,Brees and Vick coming into the league. What a great time.
This Dolphin D was stacked. Jason Taylor and Ogunleye on the edges Madison and Surtain at the corners Zach Thomas filling every gap Tim Bowens clogging up the A and B gaps Brock Marion prowling the deep secondary And Vick out here acting like they aren't even here.
Pretty sure he turned the ball over multiple times to that stacked D and his turnovers were the reason they lost. Everyone of those players you mentioned made key plays in this game.
Watching those two goal-line stands made me think of how frustrating Mike Zimmer was over the last few years as a Vikings fan. The most obvious situation to 99.999% people in the stadium, yet the head coach is that 0.001% who just blindly does the same out-dated and unoriginal call.
Fun fact, the first interception Vick through in this game at 8:40 was caught by Patrick Surtain, whose son is now a rookie first-round cornerback for the Denver Broncos!
Mia defense was something else during this era. Surtain and Madison was an awesome corner duo. They had strength at every level of the defense. Shame they didn’t win big.
@@stevecox7462 Lamar Jackson is electric but he doesn't have the raw physical arm talent Vick had in his prime. Vick just never reached his full potential with reading defenses and ball security and he was so far ahead of his time he didn't get the modern offense built around him like today
This game shows how important Zach Thomas was to the Dolphins. By extension, this game also acts as proof as to why Thomas is a deserving hall of famer.
It’s a shame that Miami team in the early 2000s didn’t really have a deep run in the playoffs as they should, even with Ricky Williams. Brady even said the Dolphins were the toughest team he ever played early in his career.

The Falcons still had a lot of players from the Cinderella 1998 team. Chris Chandler was still playing well in 2001, but from here on it was time for Vick to get a chance.
I too was 11 years old. Just to stick with the theme from a few other comments. This game highlights a few things for me: - Zach Thomas was a legend and deserved the HOF much sooner. - Mike Vick is one of a kind. Made JT look slow. - This era of football was when you could hit and it was actually, you know, football. Chandler got abused, would have been multiple PF. That hit on James McKnight was absolutely ruthless. Love these old games. - Pat Surtain fumble when putting the game away was so Lolphins. - Brock Marion always making plays. - Fiedler was trash and so was the O-line. - Travis Minor was a solid receiving back. - Chambers fumble an example of how many calls they Fed up before replay.

Mike vick, being 1st AA QB to be selected 1st overall, was a one of a kind. JAw dropping. Made hall of famer JT look like extremely slow and useless 3.) yes, this era was when football was football.
