Damn, I forgot ALL about Muhsin Muhammad and how great he used to be! He's a borderline Hall of Famer. Played 13 seasons and accumulated 11,000+ yards and 60+ touchdowns. He's greatest Panther wide receiver of all time not named Steve Smith. Players from this era are a bit sentimental for me b/c I was young and just getting into football on a serious level so maybe I overvalue him. I'm not a Panthers fan (Go Bills,) but they were my NFC team during the years of the Buffalo drought when I needed a playoff team to root for. They had a lot of big time characters on that team and made a spectacular Superbowl run losing to the hated Patriots.
I remember watching this game back when I was 8. that Vick touchdown on 4th and goal was heartbreaking. Still can’t believe how his knee didn’t touch the ground. Even as a panthers fan, Vick in his prime was such an exciting player to watch
Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons had a good year in the 2004-2005 season!!! That was the year they made it to the NFC championship against Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles!!!
Carolina and Atlanta was as intense as a rivalry in the 2000's because both teams had overlooked talent that could play with the best of them. I miss these two squads
Was weird how bad the NFC was that year. To run it down: - Philadelphia won the NFC East. The next closest team (NY Giants) was 7 games back - Two teams made the playoffs at 8-8 (St. Louis, Minnesota) - Atlanta got the #2 seed despite a point differential of 3 - Seattle won the NFC West with a negative point differential and a 9-7 record
With the NFC being so porous, the AFC therefore boasted some impressive records: the 15-1 Steelers and the 14-2 Patriots. Also, every division winner had at least 12 wins and every playoff finalist possessed at least 10 wins.
Warrick Dunn was a entertaining running back to watch. It's sad tampa bay never had a supporting cast and playbook to really utilize his skills. Had to earn his yards the hard way every play
@@__deebzz__ IMHO, 2014 was the last NFL season to feature exciting football. I noticed that I slowly began losing interest in the NFL starting with the 2016 season.

Vick said in ATL he never read the playbook cause he always depended on his god given talent and it showed in this game cause he was all over the place looking like he was playing street ball. Every play looked improvised
If I remember correctly the Panthers started 1-7, won 5 straight for a playoff push, and this is where that last stand essentially ended. Just way too many injuries for the defending NFC champs. Like someone else said, the NFC was so bad that year. The 8-8 Vikings and Rams simply couldn't be eliminated due to the mediocrity of the conference. It was basically the Eagles as the only team that looked like a true contender.
I remember watching this game as a Freshman in College! The Panthers were always my 2nd team because of their Nebraska defensive players (Mike Minter, Mike Rucker), so I was incredulous over that Vick TD scramble at the time. Fun game to re-watch!
Yes!!!!! When the Panthers almost made the playoffs after their super bowl year and every injury possible happened and they still almost made it, that defensive line in 03 was top 5 this century for units in my opinion
Without Vick the Falcons likely wouldn’t have recorded more than 5 or 6 wins in a season from 01 to 08. It’s clear from all these old Vick games that the Falcons were actually really bad during that time and they never bothered to build a proper team until after Vick was gone.
If Michael Vick didn't play for the Falcons, I probably would've liked him to this day, or at least until he got arrested. Unfortunately he played for the Falcons and it was just something that I enjoyed watching him lose, especially that Eagles game in the NFC Championship, and I'm not a fan of the Eagles and hated T.O.

What a great game! The Panthers almost pulled off the unthinkable season. Breakout year for Muhammad with Steve Smith going out to injury week 1. Stephen Davis and Deshaun Foster going out to injury paving the way for a Nick Goings Cinderella story. The defense was stout and rose to the task but ultimately fell short. I believe they still had a chance for a playoff berth on the last game of the season but fell short to the Saints. Talk about an exciting year considering they started the season 1-7.
