Both statements are correct. His insane natural talent allowed him to make elite QB throws. But lack of preparation or concentration would cause him to blow easy routine passes. Nah. The difference was his change in attitude after prison. It was night and day difference. But the best coaches he ever had was Dan Reeves and Andy. Dan Reeves understood Vick and let him be himself. Jim Mora tried to force him to run a traditional offense. It was unfortunate that Arthur Blank fired Reeves over a petty dispute. But it was mainly the change within Vick. If he had his head on straight in ATL it would have been a whole different story.

He was simply ahead of his time and, by his own admission, didn't work as hard at the preparation as he should have.

People who thought shorty (Mike Vick) was overrated.. changed that opinion after this night. Lol. I remember watching this game and thinking... "That Mike Vick guy, is incredible." Well now that I think about it, it just confirmed what I already thought, watching him earlier in the season. The run he had against Boston College, made me a believer. This game, just confirmed my original affirmation.

I knew Vick was really good and exiting, but this game pretty much blew me away. This Florida State squad was one of the most talented and greatest college football teams of all-time, and Vick (other than Peter Warrick, who put on an incredible show too) was CLEARLY the best athlete on the field. This wasn't the game that started Vick madness. The beginning of Vick madness was his first college game against James Madison, when he had 3 rushing TDs in one quarter, including the legendary rushing TD when he did a front flip into the end zone and landed on his feet (sort of). Google it. Also, real Vick fans remember the first time Vick met up with Heisman winner Chris Weinke in the NFL (Atlanta vs Carolina) and Atlanta beat them something like 35-0(?). That was revenge for the Heisman going to Weinke, when everyone knows it should have gone to Vick. Loved Vick. He never got to fulfill his potential in the NFL but few players have revolutionized the game the way the did at the QB position.
