    hey man, i''m a senior at the california state university of sacramento 27 years old going for a finance degree, only 8 classes left. I have no internship experience, recruiters have reached out but the reviews will mostly say pyramid scheme. i don't want to do investment banking but just want to get out of my confort zone and actually get a job related to my major. i'm doing stock options trading rn but can't do that full-time at the moment because don't have the capital. want something sustainable but not scammy and i'm actually happy to work there, not trying to work for black rock eventho they own like 15% of every company in the S&P lol

      Hey Alex! Keep applying man, plenty of opportunities out there that aren't IB and aren't Northwestern mutual-esque pyramid schemes. Finance-related clubs and leadership experience definitely helps to get your foot in the door for that first internship. Good luck with the rest of your senior year!

    Hey Aaron I am in my senior year of high school. Should i go to a cal state and major finance then do lots of internships. Or gap year do internships first get into a better school then do more internships.

      Hey Joseph! I would do some more research into the finance program at Cal St. You could go on LinkedIn and search up alumni to see if they're working in the types of roles you want to be in and get some insight from them. If there is a decent recruiting pipeline, you network a ton, and start applying to internships early, you can definitely land the same types of jobs that Ivy Leagues graduates get.

    Any tips for people at service academies, specifically Air Force Academy, which isn’t as convenient as West Point having NYC right by?

    • @aaron_yao
      @aaron_yao  8 месяцев назад

      Luckily, "Wall Street" is certainly not limited to NYC - The big investment banks may not have offices there but if I'm correct, there are some middle market investment banks and decently large hedge funds in the area that you can look into that will offer good experience.

    Heyy bro I was wondering if you could help me out with this choice:
    I want to dive into finance doing all the IB and all the trading and investing ;however, i was thinking about gaining a bachelor's in computer science and a minor in finance and then following it by a master's in finance so i can get into the financial world with all the knowledge in algorithms and computers or should i just take a bachelor's in finance?
    ( I am currently a highschool senior)

      You aren't supposed to do your master's right after undergrad. It goes undergrad- 2-5 years of experience as an analyst- business school-associate-etc...

      @aaron_yao  Год назад

      If you want to go into a quantitative finance field, a computer science bachelor's degree and a masters in quantitative finance would be a perfectly fine path. You can also try applying to jobs straight out of undergrad and learn finance along the way.

    I'm about to start college now. what degree should I get to work on wall street? Because I was thinking about getting an economics major with a minor in business or going for financial engineering but I know that is very competitive. saying that I don't know what to study that will translate perfectly to a job on wall street

      Get a finance as one degree

    • @aaron_yao
      @aaron_yao  Год назад +1

      Finance and economics will probably be the safest option if you don’t know exactly what area of finance you want to go into. Financial engineering, math, and statistics will be applicable if you want to go into the quantitative side of finance like developing quantitative trading strategies or more complex pricing models.

    Hey man, first of all great vid.
    I dont really plan into going into finance but i am really interested in trading but dont know where to start. Personally i dont see it being my career but more of a thing yhat could be a sidehustle. I also plan on starting my own fund in the future. Do you have any guidance for me on this matter?
    The one thjng i have right now is time so i want to use it wisely.

      Thanks man! Honestly, it doesn't matter a whole lot where you start - start with anything. Read books (I have some recommendations in my desk setup video and my Shorts), search up questions you have on Google, open up a brokerage account and experiment with paper trading or a little money. It doesn't have to be your career but it will take a lot of studying because there is so much information. I would consider myself a beginner even though I've been in the industry for a few years. Hope that helps!

    Does location matter for internships? I’ll most likely be in Wisconsin so where should I look to find one and will it be applicable to my future?

      I believe company where you are getting an internship is more important than the place of it. A lot of companies that are having places all over the country

      Certainly! Maybe a CFA or some sort of graduate degree in finance might help get your foot in the door.
