  • In this video I answer questions like "Should you study finance" or "Is a finance degree worth it?" I recently graduated college and am currently working at an investment bank in New York City so I wanted to provide some info on what jobs there are in finance, how much do finance jobs pay, and some tips on how you can get a job in investment banking or any other role in finance.
If you enjoyed the video at any point, leave a like and also comment below on your thoughts on majoring in finance. Did you think it was worth it? What are you doing with your finance degree now?

Really informative video as someone who is about to start their four years in college as a business major. It was refreshing to see someone who didn’t go the typical ivy path to land a top job out of college. Could you do a video on how you were able to get your job? Thanks!

if you get a finance degree and don't finish in the top of your class with tons of extracurriculars you will have issues landing jobs. I graduated with a Finance degree with a 3.4 GPA and I had to apply to 1000s of internships ads to get a spot as an Intern. Then I quit because corporate work is soul sucking and now I am a Math teacher.....

Agreed, it is much harder to make yourself stand out with a finance degree. Hope you're finding your current job more fulfilling!

Math degree is more respected and more versatile. Finance is easy to pick up. Also can prepare for a Masters in real estate investment and finance if going for real estate private equity or financial mathematics if going for quant

What is better Finance or ACCounting ?

Finance generally has more upside but accounting can be a well paying, stable career as well but personally I don’t find it very interesting.

Hello Aaron, ¿Do you know some courses in finance that I can do on the internet (free or paid, but worth it)? I am looking to improve my knowledge and resume so they see more than a business degree.

I don't know of any online courses but I would suggest doing some personal projects and doing any finance related internship to improve your resume!

Do I need solely a finance degree to make into Wall Street ? Could I just earn a minor in finance, studying poli sci as major ?

    • @aaron_yao

No you definitely don’t necessarily need a finance degree - just make sure to get relevant experience early on, most financial institutions are usually open to candidates from all sorts of different backgrounds!
