  • www.insidesimra... presents our review of the RS Formula sim racing chassis. This is the latest creation by RSeat and is a move in a completely new direction. This rig has featured never before seen in a racing rig. It also comes in at a price point a little higher then you might expect. Will this premium rig hold up to the rigors of Darin and Shaun? We put this incredible rig through some vigorous testing and let you know how it holds up. When we are done you will know the pros, the cons and our final score.

    This is one of those rigs where a large vertical FOV would be most helpful...imagine a 6-monitor eyefinity setup! You guys should test that out!

    Thanks again for a great video. You guys are the best. Thanks to y'all I now own a brand new rSeat GTR. As you know, it's virtually the same rig as the EVO except some pre-drills for the fan/Thr wh/ped patterns. I own a g27. I am new to this and am showing many people how much fun it is. My wife's boss is an atty and loves FI. He went to Tx and I'm sure saw this rig. He can afford one. I'm gonna get'm hooked by leaving my rig for a rainy weekend. Thanks again, masters of the wheel!

    I just watched this for the second time. What a rig. I believe this was the best video you guys have ever made. I bought the GTR after watching your vids. rSeat rocks. So does Dimitri.

    I have been racing this rig for two years. I agree with the 9 of 10 only if you also race using a shifter for GTE or Nascar races. I do have the Fanatec shifter but had to put the rig on a plastic pallette(s) to mount the shifter forward of normal location. The seat structure does not have clearance for your elbow movement if the shifter is in the normal location. The Fanatec shifter is too tall for the Rseat factory shifter mount to work without covering the triple monitor on the right. If you need a shifter get the situp rig version.

    2 things
    1. You could use the mouse mount for a shifter mount
    2. F1 will be on NBC sports next year

    Actually I'd love to see something about the new & improved EVO V3 you've been talking about. I was on the fence since it seems one of the best rigs for it's price but you've mentioned that the seat comfort wasn't that good and the pedal plate could come down but now that these minor problems seem to be ironed out I might buy it now. Btw. I love your work and appreciate what you're doing for the sim racing community. You're my #1 source of information. Keep it going, guys!

    Tried a VisionRacer Vr3 carbon ..with a pre fixed g27 ..felt very comfortable and sturdy, though I certainly have not tired as many rigs as u ..but amongst the few i had the playseats, the rennsport and the Vr3 ..i felt the Vr3 serves the best value for money ... and I thing i forgot to mention since I own multiple wheels n pedals too ..i loved the pre drilled wheel and pedal plates ..its a superb touch .. but see all comes down to that Niche sitting posture !! lolz ..keep up ..u guys rock

    It was Webber talking about it, it was on SPEED. Only thing I can think is that only taller drivers have to deal with it on entry and exit or something. Not sure where I can look to find that clip. It was either on F1 debrief or a clip played before the race. I wish I could remember which race it was.

  • @bwxmoto
    @bwxmoto 11 лет назад

    I just saw a cutaway schematic pic on f1technical net and it looks like the column goes straight through the cockpit about level with the ground. I don't see how their legs wouldn't be any where near that column. maybe some are different than others, but I'd like to see a pic of where the driver's legs are in the cockpit. I know they were talking about it this year on SPEED like I said. Board index » Formula One » Aerodynamics, chassis and tyres >Basic principles of an F1 steering mechanism

  • @bwxmoto
    @bwxmoto 11 лет назад

    Think about where the steering wheel is. Look at the angle and the center of rotation, just follow that. Also they were talking about it, calling it a column, not a "post" obviously, and how they have to deal with it between their knees while driving. I believe it was Webber in the '12 Red Bull, but not sure who it was. It was on SPEED channel this year. I'll have to find that clip- but it was on TV, so it'll be hard to do. Believe me when I tell you, they have to deal with the steering column.

    F1 cars have a center post... so a center post wold be more realistic in this case. Nice rig, but it should be able to quickly adjust to a normal position AND have a shifter mount for that kind of scratch. Nice review.. getting off topic makes the reviews better BTW.

  • @empii911
    @empii911 11 лет назад +1

    I agree, I wanted to buy the VR3 but it's adjustability is just nowhere near the top-range of rigs. I still prefer my HumanRacing GT Chassis though, it has more adjustability than this RS Formula (except for the pedal-angle everything else is better on the HumanRacing). Seat is very comfortable and as it is now below 1000 $ it is a lot cheaper too.

    If there was a shifter on this, it should be like in junior single seaters that still got a seq gearbox where the shifter is mounted to the right of your knee, where the nick of the legs are, that would be superb! :)

  • @Tweak589
    @Tweak589 11 лет назад

    Great review. Seating position doesn't bother me. The cost is not easy to swallow, I agree. But I would prefer more cost cutting of materials so that the price is not so high. $1,000 is my limit. It could do without the fiberglass and custom paint. All that really matters is the structural bits. The bodywork should be sold separately. I am kind of bummed there is no shifter mount too.
    The pedal base flexes on that fiberglass nose. That's worrying. Also the fiberglass is prone to easy damage.

    Would be great as a second rig allowing you to swap to a full open wheel experience but sadly not an affordable option, not to mention the space needed. I also would not want to give up on having a shifter which would indeed not be comfortable on this if it was your only rig. Interesting review and product nevertheless, I hope they sell this too which is great for the simracing industry so bring this level of quality/customisation to a standard rig RS!

  • @IS300driver26
    @IS300driver26 11 лет назад

    I would like a shifter mount on this I think its just another option to take it to the next level. Not all open wheel cars use paddle shifting such as the Lotus 79/49, Star Mazda, Skip Barber 2000 as wheel as a few others. But over all this rig looks intense and I think I would rather have this over a motion sim rig just because of the seating position. I am more of an open wheel racer and sitting in the upright position racing a Williams F1 just lacks the authenticity. This is just my .02's

    In a Formula Renault (02-08 car) they had a seq shifter it was positioned on the right side of your knee a littlebit futher back so I guess some formula cars still have seq shifters aswell as H-paddern like the USF 2000 car they run as a stepping stone in the road to indy.

    A little imagination, a sports car seat from the junk yard 25$. (Leather covered and adjustable. A few scrap pieces of lumber. And you have just a fine racing setup as anyone. Oh, I have a G25 wheel and a new Thrust master H shifter. Use the old broken Logitec shifter for buttons and shifter for emergency break.

    This is what i heard,"We don't want to piss off rseat because I want them to keep sending us their stuff, (even if it's used.) However, this is the most ridiculously priced rig we have ever tested and it only "feels good" with F1 cars.We would really only give this a 6 or 7 but our options are limited so we will rate it a 9 like everything else.You guys start speaking what you REALLY feel and these companies will start worrying about what YOU think because the racing community listens to SRT!!!

    If you take a moment googling to find out what people in the business consider is a good simulation of the real thing you will find out that F12012 is not very close to being a "good" simulator. But if you want to drive just for fun, without needing to practice a lot, F12012 may be a good choice(for most people).

    At £1000 this is a very expensive toy. I have read a few reviews and a lot have downgraded this seat because of the flexing on the pedals. I noticed this flexing at around 17:13 - 17:16 on this video. Does the flexing notice/interfere in game play? For the money surely everything should be solid and extremely high quality. With a noticeable fault that has not been commented on, can the cost really be justified?
