- Mark and Fiona ran out of daylight after a long day - a poor decision.
Join Mark and Fiona on their epic voyage aboard Awanui NZ, Nordhavn’s very first N51 as they head home to New Zealand from Istanbul, Turkey #adventure #boat #nordhavn #nz #cruise #sailing #yacht #boating #yachting #hh
New drinking game. Take a shot every time you hear “anyway”. 😂
Would be in no condition to go anywhere….same for “ok so”!
Drone footage adds a great deal of interest. Seeing the whole area around the boat provides a perspective that adds richness and understanding to what you are experiencing. My oh my the small Greek harbors you stop at are so charming. Thanks for sharing.
No problems, lots of fun making the videos
Drone footage good and getting better by the day. Love the walkabouts as and when. Love seeing the meals at the restaurants. Love the commentary. Only one downer, bloody wind noise. Keep em cummin.
We got you….not sure why we have not started using the mics…..we will
The drone footage is great. We enjoy the comments and history tid bits given during the videos. Thanks for sharing.
Agreed. Like the history
Love making each episode. Fiona and I are going to binge watch soon to remind us of everything…might be a bit cringe
yes totally agree he's getting quite good with the drone isnt he
I like the hands on parts. Learning about the radar and autopilot.
Lots of that to come
I love the drone footage. As others have said added to the footage the history of what you are seeing is GREAT! Even if its just Chamber of Commerce malarky.
Well said!
You have got the mix of the video about right I reckon. The drone footage gives a great perspective you don’t get from the water. The music is ok as long as you don’t play it over the narrative. It tends to block the words as my hearing isn’t the best.
That makes two of us…there was one segment like that in this one eh? I had real trouble sorting the audio editing and gave up in the end through fear of having to start again.
What a lovely video. Such beautiful small towns. A great job at the anchorage. The drone shots are beautiful. This video was the perfect length. Thank you!
Thank you very much we enjoy making them…a great record for the future of our adventure
100% enjoyed every bit . totally hooked waiting for the next video
Won’t be long and then almost up to date
Love drone shots. My main interest is operation of the boat and how to manage it as a live aboard. Pretty places are nice, but for me it's all about the boat.
Agree, that’s what I was looking for as well. Lots of that to come as things arise.
Great video
Great video
Love it
Love the moorings videos and explanations 👍👍👍👍
Keep them coming please.
Will do
Kia Ora to you both, Great to see you getting the hang of things aboard Awanui NZ, loved the drone footage Mark and yes Fi, do get him to use those Mics.
Hugs and love
Rick & Amy xx❤
Hey Rick and Amy so cool to hear from you. Hope your holiday was fab? Mics on the way…….I am such a slow learner. Nice and warm here!xx
Mark I never get tired of drone footage, it give us all a better perspective of your surroundings on that given day, thanks to You & Sweetie 😂😂❤
Glad you enjoyed it
I see the pilot in your drone footage.
As far as your videos, you do you. It’s why we subscribed.
Thank you
My favorite drone footage is with a point of focus in the foreground and then a slow movement left/right or forward (so foreground is moving faster than background) to give a 3D effect. Also enjoying the ‘what’s under the boat’ footage!
Thank you……yip I am sure if we keep looking something really interesting will turn up
Well, well, another awesome video. The views from the drone were amazing. The music was fine. Teaching us what you’re learning about your vessel and The both of you are inspirations to other couples how to work together. we can feel the love you have for each other and the compassion. love these videos so much makes me think the world is still a good place God bless all of you and safe travels. Please keep the videos coming. You and your family are very inspiring thank you.
Hey thanks…we had a wee tiff yesterday so by no means perfect. Sticking at it is what is important.
Bin the music with the drone. It detracts from the video. Silence is golden.
Mmmmmm…really absolutely nothing? What about very quiet background music but a better choice?
@@AwanuiNZ Yeah, silence! It just detracts from the beauty of the video. Plus, no matter what music you choose, it cannot be to everyone's tastes so better to have silence. In my opinion, but hey, it's your channel!
Really like the stories and the history of each area you visit. Drone footage is good, Like when you start from the location where you are at the expand out. Keep the passion going both of you and do what what you do. Its great!
Great thanks. Certainly learning heaps as we go…as you get older retaining it not so easy
Great episode. Like the drone shots especially when you make Awanui the focal point so we can relate the scenes to where you are on the water. Your fast becoming a excellent youtuber perhaps a outage take to camera winding up the video rather than a abrupt halt to video. Really enjoy your commentary over the video and both your chat to camera. Make me feel I'm travelling along on your adventure
Travelling with us is exactly what we want to hear…that’s the goal. I agree the abrupt stop was not good on this episode….you mean just some footage or try to tell the story to a logical end?
Was thinking of a very simple ending " Thats it for this week hope you enjoyed the etc etc etc and in the next video we will be etc etc etc " Again just a simple wee trailer for the following week. Anticipation is always good for those of us you let share the adventure.
Thanks again to you both.
R
Great video, thank you. I thought that was the perfect combination of drone and narration.
My favourite comment!
Mark, you did a fantastic footage with great music. I love your videos.
Ok well that’s very positive…thanks so much
Second comment today. GREAT LESSON ON THE AUTO PILOT USE. Obviously your experience as an a/c captain is evident when you're doing a/p inputs. Thanks.
Pilots best friend
Your you tube presentations are very good. 10 out of 10 for the ability to acclimatize to being able to navigate the Med.
Beautiful weather and Navionics helps! Mostly common sense to be honest. No one uses the radio over here either so that’s one thing you don’t have to think about. No trip reports nothing
@@AwanuiNZ Wait until you enter real EU territory. France to come.
Love watching you learn about your vessel. Love the music this time! Could put some smooth jazz. Say Kenny Gee perhaps!
Standby on the jazz…copyright is the challenge. Thinking of a music subscription that takes care of all that
Thank you for the ride along!! Maybe slower turns on drone.😊❤❤
Yeah I thought that. Had it in Cine Mode which I understood took care of that. It’s funny trying to go slow means little pressure on the stick and then my fingers start to shake for some reason. Am working out that flying the drone like telling a story is the way to go……I have to imagine we are going on a ride together….seems silly but sometimes it gets a bit bitty rather than just a simple flight to look around. Slowing down, stopping, changing direction smoothly is the challenge.
Great work Mark & Fiona
Thank you kindly
Dont worry about how others like your videos. Make them your way. You cant please everyone so you might as well do it the way you want to. Those who like them will watch them. You do you.
Great advice…….nice to keep the punters happy if we can
A little music goes a long way. Also the volume is too loud at times. Love the history you provide, and the drone shots are great, the docking info and videos are great, big help to anyone hopefully planning to do the same someday. As always looking forward to your next video. Best to you both, the wife is now a docking pro.
She absolutely is…best thing is Fiona does not worry now when I don’t answer her calls on the radio. She understands I hear them but maybe busy trying not to crash! What amazes me is she has worked out ways to get her lines ready to make it easy for her and the recipient of her sometimes wayward throws to manage them. I do not get a good response when I venture into her turf!
Very well done! Drone footage is great… music is pleasant. You’re becoming a talented creator. Really enjoying your adventures!
Thank you…so enjoy doing the editing. Sometimes when you start it’s hard to get the story line going, eventually it comes together.
Well Mark, your drone footage is just spot on - but no music, just your comments, please.... Sometimes Awanui N51 seem as a very small boat to xross the Atlantic, and then again, it is built for just that..... A very nice episode and looking forward to the next one...
Gee I thought I nailed the music this time……maybe quieter and in the background? I wonder if talking all the time through the drone footage might also get a little tiresome…Will try…….I need to practice my David Attenborough voice
@@AwanuiNZ the comment on your music was not suppose to be a harsh one! it is just that you apparently research a lot, and give nice details on landmarks and areas you film... music is really fine as well - and your voice is fine, no DA needed 🙂
I like the scenic drone footage of villages, ruins, etc and prefer narration over music. Thanks for all the work putting this together!
Thanks for the feedback………
Love the drone footage especially of your yacht! It make me feel as if I’m there alongside you. Looking forward to watching every episode of my dream adventure (if I ever win the lottery) so I’ll piggyback on yours
You are just so welcome
Getting great shots from drone . Try flying backwards so to expose the scene to the camera , as you are going forward you can see what is coming already so lose the excitement. You got it when fly sideways down the boats. BUT!!! find out where you are going to fly backwards first !!!!! Drones and saltwater yummy stuff.
Take care and keep on doing it .
ps had 177k/m winds in Hauraki gulf, bit of a breeze!
Yip that is the art…….there is a challenge in working out how to get to the point you fly backwards from to keep the story going. My hope is that once the flying of the drone is completely instinctive I will have brain capacity to do that….good starting point would be from above the boat eh, fly backwards to a point then scan the circle and go somewhere….you got me thinking…thanks…ouch high winds.
Love your videos and the drone footage looks great. Some constructive ideas to get more views (if you care for more views): 15-20 minute videos are ideal to explode your views. 1-hour videos are too long but I watch them anyway and enjoy them. Chop them in half or more and have a follow-up video of the same trip the next day or two. Consider a wind muff to eliminate wind noise. I do websites, SEO, and video marketing for local business and a thriving e-commerce site. Just sharing, but please know I've watched every video to the end because I enjoy them. As I say to those willing to listen, "Chew the meat and spit out the bones". Thanks for all you do!
Ok thanks…been trying to catch up with where we are so ended up with longer episodes to do that. Goal is two to three per week 20 minutes or so to keep on to- if them and to enable some interest episodes like “life on the boat”, “do we get on”, “niggles” “Costs” “maintenance” - lots of ideas in this head! Great tips thank you
No complaints here. Just appreciate being able to see the journey.
Though, let’s put that Corinth canal music behind us shall we?
😂
Agreed!
You Guys ARE awesome!!!
Thanks so much we really enjoy it
Such a gorgeous area!
I note that the radar doesn’t seem to be used often. I found it a very useful extra pair of eyes when cruising in the Hauraki Gulf picking up smaller faster vessels approaching. With tunnel vision the pilot house, the radar was like a rear view mirror. FYI.
You are so right…….I intend to power it up more. I have always hated using things when 90% of the time they are not necessary….its just that once when you really need it eh…in our planes it was up continuously and obviously became part of what you worked into your scan all the time…..will work on it
Love your work. You are doing a fantastic job.
Thanks so much. All the feedback makes the time editing so worthwhile. We are going to binge watch them ourselves when we are in Albania next week
Thank you Mark and Fiona. Great stuff. 👏👏I like the drone footage and I personally do not think it is overdone. It allows viewers to experience the surroundings from above, together with your history lessons. Seems like I was one of the few people who enjoyed the Greek music with your last video😅😅. Plenty work editing and I appreciate it.🙏 Good for you guys only travelling around Greece at the moment. Once you go to many other countries the pre arrival reporting and all the paperwork involved becomes a bit of a headache. Hopefully for you all will go smooth.
Cheers from Durban, South Africa.I 🇳🇿🇿🇦🛥🏄♂️🌊
Hi Brian. Yippee we off to Albania after the weekend. At first a little nervous about it but with some research now really looking forward to the adventure. Not many people have been there yet so looking forward to sharing the sites, sounds and culture from that part of the world. Very sad about leaving Greece…we may not see her again.
Mark I’m certain you were one hell of an airline pilot. I can’t image your ability to stay calm which in turn keeps Fiona and your vessel safe.
No point getting excited, best to just deal with what comes along
Thank you love you two making all these memories don't change drone footage excellent great filming giving us all history as well I also was thinking a couple of electric bikes might get you around I know you love your walking Mark but thank you for giving us your adventures
Yes we have been thinking about that. Trying not to clutter the boat and would need to load them on the tender when at anchor……still not sure yet. Scooters an option
Great videos, enjoying the drone footage and commentary.
Cool ta
Amazing footage! Getting good at the drone, you are right!) 👍
Starting to get instinctive…..next it’s the special features which will make the footage smoother…thanks
Amazing, views, brilliant video, learning more and more each day. Loved the tutorial of mid mooring. I would be panicking that I would hit or run over someone else’s anchor chain. 😂 keep up the great work, 🥃🏴
It’s interesting as yes you would think that is the biggest issue but it’s not. Everyone is helpful, understanding and patient
@@AwanuiNZ my wife was asking, why put the anchor out so far? Would the boat still move if you dropped it at the front once tethered to the quay ?
I'm really enjoying your videos. Regarding drones, I didnt feel it was over done here. They are beautiful! Personal preference for back ground sounds goes to narration during first, music if nothing to say.
Mmmmmm…….its not often I have nothing to say….you may regret that!
As a guy who only watches videos (but has big dreams), I love that standing with your back to the controls, to back in. When I first saw you do that a couple of videos ago, I thought "WOW! I don't think I've seen that, but that the most logical thing to do!" Maybe other people do it, but I'd never seen it on youtube.
It gives you such a good view but can be confusing if things happen fast….the art is in slowing everything down a bit if you can…only really any good for Med mooring or stern to on a side pier
@@AwanuiNZ Well it's amazing to watch and a great lesson for me. And so many lessons! Just little things-as a non-owner/operator-it gives me inspiration and tips to consider. And watching the drone footage is also a pleasure, being able to see the countries and full view of the craft. I know it's "early" in the voyage, but it's been fun so far.
Only big positives from us! Fabulous and entertaining as per usual! We look forward to your Vids very much. You both take the time to show and tell! Drone footage is fabulous! Luv seeing your berthing & leaving techniques! Full on scary for us landlubbers who know nothing about ⛴️! Seeing parts of the world (we most likely will never see) through your expertise and generosity of time & effort is very much appreciated here! Cheers 😃😃🌟👏🐨
Thank you thank you….we are so happy folks enjoying the journey with us
Wow that water was like glass . . Beautifull . .
💐🍻👍🇳🇿twa
Yes it was!
Hey Mark. Hugh F just put me onto your adventures! How good! Going to enjoy watching some of these. Regards Brian BBB H! Save travels.
Welcome………hope you enjoy watching…..be patient
Yes for sure. Once you get round to it perhaps you will wonder why you procastinated for so long. They most likely will improve any sound issues you having. Great memories you are recording for yourselves and great you are happy to share
Totally…it’s getting close…may delegate to sweetie
Enjoying the trip again brilliant . Drone shots are very good 👍 keep it up
Will do and thanks
I enjoy the history descriptions you provide, no music, but I leave that up to others positive feedback. What type of drone do you have, the footage is extra sharp with no background flutter or blur. The photos/videos equipment maybe of interest for some. Life is short, have fun and safe travels. 👍😆🇨🇦
The drone is DJI mini 4 pro and the camera DJI action - would love a camera with a lens on both sides so you could capture shots both ways at once. Been thinking about another camera but more batteries, charging, chips. Kind of takes you over if you are not careful. Just taking our time so that we get used to what we are doing rather than get overwhelmed with too much gear all at once. Kind of the reason I did not get onto drone footage early on….missed some great opportunities
Loved your drone work. Enjoyed the entire video. Your beer made me thirsty...off to get a cold one!
Excellent hope you enjoyed it? Trying to cut back on a beer everyday, becomes a habit
Your getting better by the day love the videos good luck to yourself and the boss fiona ttfn
Thanks so much we really enjoy making them…..boss?
Superb video guys, thanks again.
Our pleasure!
Enjoying watching you gain confidence and learn by your mistakes.
Oh yeah always done that in life
Another great video I really like the way you show how you do things on the boat and how the equipment works 🇬🇧👍🏻😀
Much more to come
low volume background music is a good choice rather than silence. Good drone shots.
Noted!
you do a fantastic job, in an incredibly nice boat. Continue like that ! can't wait for the next video
Not far off and fast catching up with where we are. Albania here we come tomorrow
@@AwanuiNZ see you on the AIS. fantastic boat, have a safe trip
I enjoy the narrative approach to the drone footage. I'll watch it either way. Can't thank you folks enough for having us along.
Cool…sometimes on edit run four I am just over that voice!
@@AwanuiNZgood Kiwi accent! Sounds great. Been watching lots of Boat videos over the years , but you guys doing an amazing job !
Super Mark…..the man with nerves of steel.!
Mmm not quite sure about that!
You are great l like your adventure 😘👍
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks again.
Always welcome
I love the history lessons!
Me too…makes me do some research…remembering it all is the challenge as I hate taking notes
You’re awesome Fiona! I love how you jumped right in and described the bow thruster as a clutch slipping. BTW, the thumbs up made me burst out laughing. 👍👍👍
I thought she was being a bit cheeky!
Thanks for the lovely video. Enjoyed the drone shots, esp when featuring unique items eg the stone windmills. Also enjoyed the underwater shots. Some music is cool, don’t sweat the small stuff, just do you.
I hear you….its great to get some feedback on music as I know it can make or break a video. Yip we are seeing some amazing stuff…just wait for what’s coming next!
Good morning Awinui crew.
Good night
Another beauty video Mark. Drone adds another dimension which is great. Love the music too. Reckon you have a nice balance. Recognised that Auckland mates voice on the phone. Well done both of you.
Haha thought you might…..wee cameo
I love your video's music like in canal 👎it grated on my ear drums. Your narration was great.🫠 it's like the best view of what you're experiencing live. I think I'm going to get a jar of sea water and have a little fan on, so I will have (SMELL- A -VISION) i think im on to something there,eh. What do you think? HA!HA!.🫠🤣🇺🇸🔱🧜♂️⚓️ keep on venturing!
Oh no I thought I nailed it this time….I need help!
Agreed , more sparodic use of music. Other than that, love your posts!
@@AwanuiNZ oh you nailed it real good. You are a great couple, I'm enjoying the trip your on. Keep up good work. I'm enjoying my smell-a-vision. Your drone work is very good. 🫠🇺🇸🧜♂️🔱❤️
@@AwanuiNZ you did nail it you produce very good videos you will never please every one carry on the good work your comment about liking two engines there Arnt many triple 7s with one engine good having that redundancy
Doing well with the drone for a Kiwi.
Oooh sounds like an Aussie?
I am so enjoying your new boat yeh mix your music up a little but your doing a fabulous job filming I’m actually laughing along am I supposed to be? ❤🇦🇺. Unique mate 🥂
Not sure it was the plan but have no issue with others finding out adventures amusing….a good laugh is very healthy
Hi Mark & Capt Fiona!
Lovely film. I watch for the boat stuff so TBH fast forward through the tourist footage. Drone stuff looks great getting better. Good with the voice over, would suggest 30/45sec per location and cut into your videos works well. That’s what the other tubers are doing. 360’s round the boat with the scenery is great…
Don’t worry about the bad days the boat will take it. I add sail/power on and take all at 45-60deg to wind/wave (once not wind over tide) instead of the rum line of the route the ride is more pleasant and less terrifying.
Had to bale from my over night today and run home. Happens to us all.
Thanks so much and we hear you…..you got the Capt in the wrong place?
😂
I enjoy you guys so much! Love the drone and underwater views. Really enjoy your knowledge of the different ports and towns. So happy you guys are experiencing this wonderful trip!
Thank you we enjoy making each episode. Pleased the content is good
I'm a drone pilot myself. I am always surprised how good my shots look given my experience. Mine has a 4K stabilised camera and, like yours, seems to produce almost broadcast-quality footage. I am always struck by how much more you can see from a few hundred feet up! I use an app call Drone-Assist in the UK to check for Flight Restriction Zones (FRZs). I'm guessing you use something similar from the Greek FAA. Attitudes to drones do vary around the world. I assume the Greeks are quite relaxed? Some places will be less so probably but I'm guessing you have done your research as usual. As for amount of drone footage I think you have it about right in my view. Enough to show the sights and where you have been without being excessive. Another great video thanks a lot.
You have to register to fly a drone in Greece. Thankfully when it starts the drone advises if there are restrictions. Currently in Corfu below a fortress but by the airport so it’s a no fly zone which is a shame. Next stop Albania so will check for there. Getting footage without jittery movements seems to be the art. I fly in fine mode so it’s slow movements anyway but still find it hard to move nice and smoothly without tons of editing needed. Seems the art is in telling a story as you fly so am working on how to achieve that….plan it rather than just get airborne and take footage.
Just stumbled onto your channel.
Not sea people but love your content.
Forgot to say we're KIWIS 😊
Welcome thanks for joining.
you speak about using mics and if its bluetooth it is definitely worth using them. I have a set that I use with my DSLR and it plugs into the camera and there is also one that can clip onto your shirt, You can hide it so no one needs to see it and bluetooth connects it. Im not sure what sort of technology you are using but it does help and I totally understand where you're coming from about your reluctance to use it but if you can get your head around it it is worth it and having mics closer too the body means clearer sound without as much interference. Not even sure if this information is helpful but just giving you my six pence worth. Loving watching your you tube efforts and it's great seeing the Greek IslaNd. Been to a few places many years ago but you are really managing to see lots. And much of it is off the beaten track which is amazing. Safe travels to you both
Thanks so much…crazy thing is we have the mics just got to get setup and start using them…more gadgets to manage eh!
Great video again and am amazed by the good weather you have had all through the Saronic Gulf, the Gulf of Corinth and the bay of Patras. Wish we had had that type of weather. It is funny though to see that you have been in exactly the same locations where we were. Galaxidi, Nafpaktos (we were exactly on the spot where the one sailing vessel was, opposite the entrance, but it was raining cats and dogs), Vathi Ithaca and now we see you have made it to Corfu. Going to make a tour ? Can recommend Kassiopi, Benitses en Paleokastritsa, real nice villages to see and have a drink or dinner.
No time now…we off to Albania tomorrow…really excited. Beautiful locations eh we have enjoyed them so much…..Paxos probably our fav
I am not big on Greek music but I think it fitted the canal trip you done well Mark.
Ta appreciate that
Another top job and an entertaining episode. The drone shots are excellent and I would be happy with whatever you do with the narrative. History, information facts and music that suits. Really enjoying the boat docking tutorials, which are very informative and easy to follow from a layman's point of view. Glad to hear that the bow thruster cleared the obstruction. In your tool kit, it may be handy to have a tube of Permatex or CRC Dielectric grease and a spray can of CRC Co Contact cleaner for electrical connections. Both are safe to use for electric conections.......available from Auto parts stores, hardware stores and I'm sure marine shops as well.
Good advice….need something on the windlass as squeaky.
Hi Mark, CRC White Lithium Grease (spray on can) would be ideal for the windless. It is waterproof and not messy to collect dust and crud. I used it on the cable sprockets on the Tiger Moth for years. Also good to help stop rusting of metal parts. The dielectric grease is ideal for electrical connections exposed to to high levels of moisture e.g: rain etc and. not really used for general lubrication
Hi Mark and Fiona, I tried to send you an e-mail but it failed. I'm about 4 weeks behind ready you vlogs so I'll just send this because of the last vlog I watched where you had anchored. I noticed you using two lines with a hook for an anchor bridle. You definitely must use one or you'll ruin the windlass. Look up Mantus Marine for what a bridle should look like. Just a suggestion. What you are using will work, but you might find it easier with a different design. Semper Fi.
Will check it out now…thanks
Being at sea then stepping on land, the land goes up and down.
Oh yes and frame side to side. We get a sway on
The drone is a nice addition m8..
It gives us all a relieving feel of the place.
Nice work... ;)
..and all the best
Thanks so much we enjoy making them
The best music for your drone footage is the type you don’t notice. Very quiet elevator music.
Now that’s good advice….I need to go in more elevators
Less music, but love drone photography
Got it thanks…..how about quieter music?

Sun's out guns out! Good work guys. Definitely keep the music running on the drone shots I think. Unless of course you guys are narrating
Thanks a bunch
The drone footage was very well droned, including the editing. if I may suggest two things. 1. Be aware of the angle of your drone camara as you shoot into the sun and 2, while doing your 360 shots go slower for a better impact to your viewers. Look forward to your next video....well done!
Absolutely noticed that….never been good at slowing down, will try my hardest
@@AwanuiNZ I have the same issue...full speed ahead
Great drone work Rammells. The footage is of interest and good quality. Why don’t you guys wear sunnies?
Aah now that is an excellent question……I never have really, Fiona does quite a bit. I know I should do. Need prescription so maybe get done when we take a breath. Xx
Great drone footage. I wonder how you plan to keep up with drone flying regs and licensing requirements in each country you visit. In the UK, for example, there are strict rules depending on the size of the drone and the proximity of residential and business properties.
Basically have to check each country as you go there. Greece you have to register, Albania is keep safe and don’t annoy people!
The drone footage is incredible. I think the narration is just fine. I don’t think Music would add very much more. It’s really great to see the Birds Eye view of these places. The music is nice too. You do good work. What drone is this? Are there any drone regulations to worry with in these areas, airports, or other restricted no fly zones? What was the bad decision? I don’t think I caught that. Was it just Clickbait?😂
Greece you need to register your drone, Albania just be safe. Basically each Country or area (EU) has its own requirements to check. DJI mini 4 pro. Bad decision was carrying on until nearly dark into an anchorage we knew nothing about….did not explain very well in episode. We try our hardest to avoid click bait
@@AwanuiNZ OK. I thought that might be it, but I didn’t see any issues when you arrived late so I was unsure. I also have the DJI mini 4 pro. It’s a great drone and I like to set waypoint and fly routes. You really can get some great shots if you get your points and headings and camera angles, right. I wish there were a way to work with the waypoints on a laptop or iPad without having to do it on the tiny controller screen. On the other DJI professional drones that is possible but not the mini 4 pro. At least for now.
Drone footage is great - I find the panning very slightly too quick to be able to appreciate the view, but otherwise excellent. I wonder how you plan your next destination - what is "the book"?
Aah ok the book is on Greek sailing waters so essentially we check it out to see the next best recommended destination…Google is also a friend
Med mooring is interesting. Initially, it looked like a poor way to moor compared to mooring here in the states, but after watching a few times, it's starting to look more natural. It's difficult to tell how far out from the shore you drop the anchor. On the video, it looks much farther than it must be actually. How many boat lengths is it? Do you see people trying to squeeze into a spot that is probably too small for their boat? I noticed there was a larger spot on the port side of the monohull, but you chose the smaller spot to it's starboard side.
Ok so usually 100 to 150ft out. Yippee people try to squeeze in and we try and help them if boats on both sides are happy. It’s good to get into a berth about the width of the boat as there is little room to find yourself smack in the middle with 8-10’ free on either side and no one else can get in. Once you have the stern between the two boats it is easy especially in a bit of side wind
You could get job with Greek tourists board ,you are getting so good flying the drone you could be an airline pilot.lol
Haha…those days gone although I must admit sometimes I look up and see the contrails and do have a moment….it was an amazing career and probably not appreciated enough until it was gone……would do it all again in a heartbeat
The Phoenicians colonized this area 3,500yrs ago. They also traded for tin in wales; they held the monopoly on production of bronze, without tin, no bronze. When the Romans concurred Carthage, they packed up their ships along with their Celtic allies and moved to Nth America, some going on to NZ. That's why some Maori have fair and red hair with blue eyes. That was 2,180yrs ago.
Ok wow would love to learn more
@@AwanuiNZ That's all I know accept for the megalithic constructions that pre-date even that history. Kaimanawa wall.
