Exquisite cruising. Never knew there were so many idyllic little harbors scattered around Greece. Nicely done but not sure I would have felt it necessary to nose into a small grotto in a Nordhavn yacht! Wow did you hit it right on the weather. I have been googleing River Awanui to the open waters, and it's beautiful. The last town is situated just perfect, and all the parks along the shore. To many to call out. Very interesting area. It looks like where north and south are split is probably where you flew out of when you were a working pilot. Im still going to keep googleing New Zealand. Its got some history. Yes, have you watched the racing between NZ & USA. NZ kicking butt. ( sailing)
Beautiful rock formations! Rudder question: When looking at the rudder underwater footage. Is the rudder not a perfect ''hook'' for any underwater debris/nets/seagrass?...
Hi guys, yet another top quality video. Personally I love the longer vids, cos I can get right into them. Keep up the great work, can't wait for the next one. Thanks heaps.
Biggest challenge is storage on my iPad. iMovie builds videos using huge storage and I keep not being able to download while still having the footage on the hard drive which you need until published. I have an external drive which I export used footage to but I cannot build the video from there….inless someone out there knows how to do that?
Lovely video! You are a pro at med mooring now. Question, when you are backing into shore (at the beginning of the video) how do you know the tide won’t drop? (When tying off onto shore). Also superb drone footage. Keeps getting better each video!
Tides only 300mm in the Mediterranean at most so not an issue. We will need to have a big fat sign saying TIDES in front of me once we get out of the Med
Advice we have is to let it fade then treat but not stain or oil….apparently work never finishes if oiled or stained. We have some product which essentially restores the teak. Advised to leave for 3 to 4 months.
Clear waters and continuing sunshine, small towns - what's not to love. We got a glimpse of petty bureaucracy as well - yellow lines delineating where presumably higher paying tourist boats get priority - hopefully not a regular event. I'm interested to know how the budget is working out - do you have a sense of a daily all up total, inclusive of food, fuel, entertainment, restaurant and berthing costs (ignoring the ownership outlay)? And is this in line of what you expected? Not that I could hope to have such a luxurious land-based accommodation equivalent, I work on NZD 500 per day for a land-based European odyssey.
That is coming we are currently putting all the figures together. It’s probably more than we expected but that is not surprising. Just want to catch up with where we are then we will do a “specialty” episode each week plus our journey.
Thanks for taking us all along for the ride on your adventure! I’m watching these on my daily commute on the train here in Sydney, dreaming of the day when I can follow in your wake. It would be helpful at some point if you could share an estimate of your daily running costs. Thanks
This is just a suggestion, you should get a condensed version of all area you are exploring, like some people do is put a sticker on the map every where you go. Have it on wall to show everywhere you've been and going. Ha ha! IT WOULD FILL UP FAST . 🇺🇸🤭🔱🧜♂️👍❤️ Cocoa, fl. Usa.
We thought about a map on the wall but there is no wall big enough other than the curving wall down to the guest cabin and it would need to be wall paper to make the curve work. I might try and find an app
Another great video, Mark. Getting pretty handy with that drone. Quick question - when are you getting that cover for the fly bridge to give you some shade up there?
Honestly it’s ok. Either way you either need to see the back or the front at some stage. I love it up top you get a great view all round. Going to mount a camera on the side of the boat to give that perspective
Respectfully. At 25:43 both you and Fionna use the "R" word. To some this may be offensive. I very much appreciate that in NZ this might not be the case but here in the UK we try not to use it. I do note though that you check yourself Mark... which shows you are aware. It didn't however spoil the video. Thank you.
We hear you and understand the sensibilities of that. It came out and we trying where possible not to edit too heavily. No offence intended. My brother was very challenged mentally from birth so I do understand.
Nope horrendous price…almost twice normal. Tourism prices up and running in Paxos. Sorry got a wee bottle to try…..seemed the same as most extra virgin olive oil
Another great video. Had to laugh when you took the boat into the cave. It is indeed the only logical thing to do, but for some reason the admirals seem to think differently. Paxos is a great place to be, we prefer it over Corfu, the lady for the port fee looks to be grumpy, but she is actually quite cool. Collecting fees is her second job, once she knows you she relaxes. Guess she has a lot of boats coming in and not paying (then again, it is her job to collect the fees, so who is to blame ?) Anyways, think you guys are in the old Navy yard in Budva, finally out of Schengen, time to relax. With a little luck we will be passing by later this week. Bit stormy right now in Corfu, got the engines running again, as soon as it calms down we will be on our way to Cavtat near Dubrovnik. If you ever need a good diesel mechanic, come back to Corfu and I will pass you his phone number, if he cannot fix it.......nobody can. Looking forward to the next video.
Just left Corfu, weather seems to be good for the next 2 days, so will try to reach Dubrovnik in one go, saves us a lot of paperwork, we may still make the concert in Pula on the third of July. 😊. Tomorrow night we will pass by bay of Kotor. The Sionyx night vision camera has 2 nights of working ahead of her. 👍
Aah you noticed. Simply could not load the volume of data from iMovie to Photos section of iPad. iMovie make the files huge through editing and one hour long episodes are 40+GB. Using iMovie you also have to contain all the footage on the iPad until the finished product is moved across to Photos. Once there you can delete any footage you used. Once we get away from 60 minute + videos I will make sure they are 1080 or hopefully 4K. Starting to do drone footage in 4K to get ready for that. I should have gotten a much bigger storage iPad. iMovie on iPad won’t let you upload from an external drive as far as I am aware….you have just given me a thought though so standby on that.
Terrible……half as much again as extra virgin olive oil in supermarket……..about 12 Euros for 500ml…….we tried it but not good enough to get to that price. Sticking with generally produced EVolive oil.
But what are their insurance premium Remember your yacht is made out of fiberglass you don't have a belt of armor or a reinforced Keel enter with extreme caution but you might run your insurance premiums up you know they probably watch this too
Bet that was the first Nordhavn to enter those caves, bloody fantastic ❤

I have an external drive which I export used footage to but I cannot build the video from there….inless someone out there knows how to do that?
Lovely video! You are a pro at med mooring now. Question, when you are backing into shore (at the beginning of the video) how do you know the tide won’t drop? (When tying off onto shore). Also superb drone footage. Keeps getting better each video!
Tides only 300mm in the Mediterranean at most so not an issue. We will need to have a big fat sign saying TIDES in front of me once we get out of the Med
Hi Marky and Fiona, that wood work looks like it’s faded a lot , needs to be stains or oiled again before it gets too bad
Advice we have is to let it fade then treat but not stain or oil….apparently work never finishes if oiled or stained. We have some product which essentially restores the teak. Advised to leave for 3 to 4 months.
What stunning water colour . ..great drone footage . .
Interesting cliff layers . .
Awesome video .
Till next time .
Bye from NZ👋🍻🇳🇿twa
Thanks 👍
Great cave driving there Mark.Well done.
Only cause I saw much bigger boats go in there…..
Just want to catch up with where we are then we will do a “specialty” episode each week plus our journey.
hey Mark
Something you allready know: Boats are not made for caves!!!!!!!
Correct….just could not resist
Thanks for taking us all along for the ride on your adventure! I’m watching these on my daily commute on the train here in Sydney, dreaming of the day when I can follow in your wake. It would be helpful at some point if you could share an estimate of your daily running costs. Thanks
Yip we are working on that. So pleased to be able to entertain you on your commute
I think you can now add your drone wings.
Solo anyway…..nearly crashed the other day. Thank goodness for DJI
@@AwanuiNZhow about on the wall on left side door. Outside , that way anyone that walks by can see your progress.
Will think on it
Another great video, Mark. Getting pretty handy with that drone. Quick question - when are you getting that cover for the fly bridge to give you some shade up there?
Hopefully over the next month in Montenegro
Note to self, stern docking station for the Med.
Honestly it’s ok. Either way you either need to see the back or the front at some stage. I love it up top you get a great view all round. Going to mount a camera on the side of the boat to give that perspective
Now if you selected volvo IPS systems You would have dynamic positioning AKA virtual anchor and you could hold pinpoint bought on the map
Way out of my league???
Go to Lakka.....most beautiful bay in the north from Paxos...upps and you ended there...great 🙂
Yes it was nice…amazing number of boats arrived there
Respectfully.
Glorious!
Cool feedback
Excellent episode, thanks Fiona and Mark, fair winds 😊
Thankyou so much. We really enjoy making them and it really helps when you get such positive feedback
Hey Mark. Can you do an episode about the drone you're using? And maybe the camera etc you're using (GoPro?).
Hey bud yippee will do….IDJ Osmo 4…
Just S P E C T A C U L A R. oh and did you get any olive oil?? ❤⚓️
Nope horrendous price…almost twice normal. Tourism prices up and running in Paxos. Sorry got a wee bottle to try…..seemed the same as most extra virgin olive oil
Mark , just use the truster in small chocks , not continusligh ! It will go HOT. Instead use the engines.
Yip learning that….thanks
Wow wow wow, was für ein super Video. Unglaublich ❤ Was benutzt du für einen Anker, und wie schwer ist der?
45kg pointy end type….mmm I should know that…hang on I will check…Ultra Anchor
Another great video. Had to laugh when you took the boat into the cave. It is indeed the only logical thing to do, but for some reason the admirals seem to think differently. Paxos is a great place to be, we prefer it over Corfu, the lady for the port fee looks to be grumpy, but she is actually quite cool. Collecting fees is her second job, once she knows you she relaxes. Guess she has a lot of boats coming in and not paying (then again, it is her job to collect the fees, so who is to blame ?)
Anyways, think you guys are in the old Navy yard in Budva, finally out of Schengen, time to relax. With a little luck we will be passing by later this week. Bit stormy right now in Corfu, got the engines running again, as soon as it calms down we will be on our way to Cavtat near Dubrovnik. If you ever need a good diesel mechanic, come back to Corfu and I will pass you his phone number, if
he cannot fix it.......nobody can.
Looking forward to the next video.
How cool keep in touch. You bypassing Montenegro?
Just left Corfu, weather seems to be good for the next 2 days, so will try to reach Dubrovnik in one go, saves us a lot of paperwork, we may still make the concert in Pula on the third of July. 😊. Tomorrow night we will pass by bay of Kotor. The Sionyx night vision camera has 2 nights of working ahead of her. 👍
Wow go for it. I hope you get to the concert
32 Euros....supply and demand. Not busy at all but packd with boats
Yip that’s it
Why 720p format ?
The best oil in the world
It was nice but did not stand out to me…not that I am an expert
Was the olive oil reasonably priced?
Terrible……half as much again as extra virgin olive oil in supermarket……..about 12 Euros for 500ml…….we tried it but not good enough to get to that price. Sticking with generally produced EVolive oil.
How come you're collision alert voice sounds like Starship enterprises computer
Good question
Probably the only time caves and boats go together is in a James Bond movie ! And no offense meant, but You aren’t Him !
Haha so true
I have to wonder how often people tangle their anchor with each other?
Lots but everyone understands it happens and get involved helping to sort it. Great community out there.
@@AwanuiNZ I could imagine fist fights if the moored that way in Oz.
I know and back home…over here everyone helps and are patient
Not seeing coral , just rocks in the under water shots. Is that a typical Med thing?
The other day there was more growth but hardly coral. More like lichen
But what are their insurance premium Remember your yacht is made out of fiberglass you don't have a belt of armor or a reinforced Keel enter with extreme caution but you might run your insurance premiums up you know they probably watch this too
Mmm…must confess to not considering that. Some risks worth taking
Do your stabilisers work at anchor Mark?
Only if the Starboard engine is running
